@inthewoods23 I was just in a meeting and one of our remote employees called in on a conference line; she's in Wisconsin and someone asked her what the temp was. Her response was "it's not bad, it's about 5*"
I don't know that I would say 5* is "not bad" lol

@lulu1180@inthewoods23 I was talking to one of my fellow instructors at the gym the other and she actually said the words "Well at least it is going to warm up to -4* in a couple days"!! WARM UP TO!! It is a sad sad day.
I'm cold at 60 degrees Fahrenheit lol. It's going to be -1 tomorrow here. My friend lives in Chicago and apparently it will get colder than Antarctica!
@nitnat007 lmao! Last week my phone had a notification that said something like the temp the following day being 16 (5 degrees warmer than the current day) and I was like oh shit, 16 degrees is warmer?? I had only gone outside for short periods of time that day, like from my car to inside kind of thing, so it hadn't registered to me just how cold it was.

@ruby696 my company has an office in San Diego and my coworker from there was up here last week for work. He's glad his son convinced him to buy a jacket for when he travels here 😂 People sure do go into a panic further south when weather is below 60!
Yesterday, since most of us stayed home from the snow storm, he sent us an email saying "I miss you guys. Try and stay warm and safe. So glad to be home" and attaches a picture of sunny San Diego. Such a jerk move but he's a really nice and funny guy so we know he's just pushing our buttons lol

😂 He sounds like a true Californian! I actually like the "cold," which is 28-33 degrees where I live. But we have a dry cold, so it never snows. It actually has, three times in my life. The snow doesn't actually stick. Boo!
That's a warm winter for us to be near or above freezing. Once in the teens you start to layer up. Single digits is when I consider double coverage on my ears.

@kiki047 Yeah, I noticed that when I joined in, and I've seen it mentioned a couple of times by regs. I've heard getting pinned posts unpinned or new ones pinned is a massive PITA and takes forever. But it'd be cool if we could do an updated pinned post and unpin the closed ones.

Now that I think about it, when I first started posting on TB, I didn't start in the TTGP threads so when I was reading all the pinned threads which say to create a new thread to introduce yourself I was doing it correctly. It's the same thread in all the boards.

Since we haven't had a mental health check-in in a long while, can I put this here?
It's Bell Let's Talk day here in Canada, which is a nation-wide campaign to bring awareness to mental health issues. And of course this is the day that I decide to come apart at the seams. (It's also CD2, if that explains anything).
Can we talk about triggers and how you deal with them?
I think it goes without saying what many of our triggers are here, as they all require a *TW*. My big trigger right now is my nephew. My sweet, precious, innocent, 8 week old nephew. Who has done nothing at all to me other than sleep in my arms and occasionally fart on me. But even the very mention of him hurts my heart and I can't stand to be around him. He is probably going to be our only niece or nephew on either side but both MF and I are struggling so much balancing being excited about being an auntie/uncle and needing to distance ourselves from him to protect our own hearts. It's one thing to pull away from friends with babies but family?

Ugh, @kiki047 I am so thankful I don't have to be around babies right now. Please don't feel guilty for your feelings. Your nephew will never know how you struggled when he was a baby. It's going to take time and that's okay. Hugs to you while you work through it.
@kiki047 my lovetit is a hug. Side note, I was going to start a January check in, but never did.
I'm so sorry about your nephew. I feel the same way when my cousin constantly sends snapchats/pictures of her baby. I have been pulling away from her baby as well as DH's cousin's baby- like, will not go near them at family parties and never ask to hold them anymore. My cousin and I aren't in the same state and we hardly see his cousin, so I can't even imagine how you must feel physically being with him so often. It's so hard, because you do really love them. However, I truly believe you both need to protect yourselves. I can't remember if it's your brother or sister, but are you close with them? Maybe you can tell them how you feel and that at the moment, you both are really struggling with TTC and seeing their adorable baby makes it even harder. It sounds like the two of you have been hit with some intense emotions lately between this and his ex's baby. I don't know what advice to give really, but just know that we are always here to support you and if you ever need to talk, I'm just a PM away.
@kiki047 I'll be in your shoes soon with my sister due in March. For me, my sadness comes when I'm at home and thinking about it, but in the moment around others I feel the excitement. I thought her baby shower this past weekend was going to be a little tough, but I looked at all the insanely adorable things they got and would just tell myself "I can't wait to have that".

@ruby696 I'm thankful there aren't many other babies in our lives at the moment. Although sometimes I wonder if maybe that's contributing to the problem, because it's such an intense feeling isolated to one specific baby, it's blowing that a little out of proportion? In any case, you're right, it's most important that he feels loved and supported when we do spend time with him and he won't ever know anything different.
@b_1029 it's MF's brother, and they're extremely close. They send daily pics and updates in the family chat, moreso for his mom's benefit or she'll harass them until they send an update, but it's still out there. I muted the chat so at least I don't get smacked in the face if I get a notification and wham, there's a baby staring back at me. I'm really torn about telling them - I know my SIL will understand, but I also feel like there's an unspoken expectation that you just suck it up because he's not going to be this small for long and we'll miss out on so much of it.
@inthewoods23 I'm never sure when it's going to hit me. I had sad moments when family friends brought their twins to a funeral and had to watch my parents play with them, but when I actually interacted with them I was mostly fine. They warmed my cold, twisted heart for a brief moment, and brightened up an otherwise very sad room. Alone in the car is the worst for me. Sob city.

@kiki047 One thing that has been immensely helpful for me is to remind myself that I don't know what other peoples' journey was like. I'm close to my family, but they have no idea I had even one loss, much less five. When I tell myself that maybe it took them years or they had losses before they got that baby, I start to feel more at peace with the situation. It doesn't always work, but it's worth a try.
general *TW* on this one since there's a lot here...
@ruby696 I have yet to say anything to my family either. As I see it, this is a journey between me and DH only. I don't need them getting involved constantly asking for updates and asking how I'm feeling and what not. I really hate that kind of spotlight. Even watching all the questions my parents ask my sister makes me uncomfortable.
And also, not only is my sister due in March with her first, my cousin is due with baby #2 2 days before her, and I have another cousin due with her first in April. The 2 cousins and I got married in 2016 and my sister about a year later in 2017 so you can bet I have a lot of feelings about the fact that I'm the last cousin to get pregnant of those that have been married in recent years. The general understanding I have of when they all did start trying or possibly could have started trying means that it took less time to conceive those 4 babies than it has been for me to have 1. It just sucks to think that when I do get KU, I'll be in the expecting state for less than half the amount of time it's taken me to even get to that point. Probably going to be milking all the pregnancy feelings, good and bad, for all I can because I will be so overjoyed when I finally get that BFP.
Sorry for unloading so much!! it's just that nobody in my family will ever understand. The only people I could probably talk to are an aunt and uncle who took for 4 years to have my cousin who will be 3 soon. I don't know if they went through treatments or anything and I don't really want to bombard them with questions about it because if it was me, I may find it difficult for someone to just come up and ask me questions like that.

@inthewoods23 I agree - its between me and DH. It's hard enough to manage my own emotions without feeling like I have to make my mom feel better about my losses. *TW* I saw how my mom reacted to my cousin's loss at 16 weeks, and I just even begin to deal with that. *End TW* Also, it's nice that no one feels sorry for me or asks questions, but the downside is that no one knows to be sensitive about certain things and I don't let on that I'm having a hard time. So kind of a toss up.
Hugs all around today: @kiki047@inthewoods23@ruby696 Likewise, ***tw*** I just got a pregnancy announcement in the mail and threw it right in the trash. Two seconds later I felt guilty and pulled it out. I'm obviously happy but, just conflicted.
Tw I told my boss today about my loss last month. I have been really struggling with this autoimmune flair, and I am pretty sure it was triggered/worsened by the CP. I personally don’t like to keep it in, my old boss was always nasty and cold hearted about anyone dealing with pregnancy/loss, so I was hesitant to mention that we were for sure trying, and my boss was kind and I am glad I told her.
I always wonder, if we discourage one off posts, why do we end up answering their question for them anyway? 🤔

@inthewoods23 Oh, you can flame people without getting warnings, I'm proof of that. I've been on this board for 2 1/2 years and have flamed many people in that time. And I don't have a single warning (although I wouldn't be surprised if this last one gets me my first one). You just have to know what to say/not say
First, you can't tell people to go to another site and you can't direct profanity/name calling at them.
Unfortunately, even when you follow the "rules" you will still get a warning for hindering enjoyment of the site or some such nonsense that's too objective to really argue against but whatever

@lulu1180 I need to stock up on a stash of "wtf are you thinking" and facepalm gifs because that is my reaction 100% of the time *sigh*
And sometimes anger... I should find some of those too.

@inthewoods23 definitely WTF and anger gifs. Those seem to be my predominant feelings. Along with sadness for the general lack of reading comprehension. 😂
Please recommend your favorite documentary! I have started to bring home some of my work, so I have been watching documentaries while I do it, since I can pay attention while not needing to look up much. I watched an okay okay one on Rome, the tried another one but narrator kept saying Pompei instead of Pompey and it bother me, more than any of the other inconsistencies.
I got a warning once for posting a RHONJ gif where Theresa flipped a table and I got a warning. *shrug*
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Sob city.

Likewise, ***tw*** I just got a pregnancy announcement in the mail and threw it right in the trash. Two seconds later I felt guilty and pulled it out. I'm obviously happy but, just conflicted.

First, you can't tell people to go to another site and you can't direct profanity/name calling at them.
Unfortunately, even when you follow the "rules" you will still get a warning for hindering enjoyment of the site or some such nonsense that's too objective to really argue against but whatever
