  • @inthewoods23 I was just in a meeting and one of our remote employees called in on a conference line; she's in Wisconsin and someone asked her what the temp was.  Her response was "it's not bad, it's about 5*"

I don't know that I would say 5* is "not bad" lol

  • @nitnat007 lmao! Last week my phone had a notification that said something like the temp the following day being 16 (5 degrees warmer than the current day) and I was like oh shit, 16 degrees is warmer??  I had only gone outside for short periods of time that day, like from my car to inside kind of thing, so it hadn't registered to me just how cold it was.

  • @ruby696 my company has an office in San Diego and my coworker from there was up here last week for work. He's glad his son convinced him to buy a jacket for when he travels here 😂 People sure do go into a panic further south when weather is below 60!

Yesterday, since most of us stayed home from the snow storm, he sent us an email saying "I miss you guys. Try and stay warm and safe. So glad to be home" and attaches a picture of sunny San Diego. Such a jerk move but he's a really nice and funny guy so we know he's just pushing our buttons lol

  • 😂 He sounds like a true Californian! I actually like the "cold," which is 28-33 degrees where I live. But we have a dry cold, so it never snows. It actually has, three times in my life. The snow doesn't actually stick. Boo!
  • That's a warm winter for us to be near or above freezing. Once in the teens you start to layer up. Single digits is when I consider double coverage on my ears.

  • @kiki047 Yeah, I noticed that when I joined in, and I've seen it mentioned a couple of times by regs.  I've heard getting pinned posts unpinned or new ones pinned is a massive PITA and takes forever.  But it'd be cool if we could do an updated pinned post and unpin the closed ones.

  • @ruby696 I'm thankful there aren't many other babies in our lives at the moment. Although sometimes I wonder if maybe that's contributing to the problem, because it's such an intense feeling isolated to one specific baby, it's blowing that a little out of proportion? In any case, you're right, it's most important that he feels loved and supported when we do spend time with him and he won't ever know anything different.

@b_1029 it's MF's brother, and they're extremely close. They send daily pics and updates in the family chat, moreso for his mom's benefit or she'll harass them until they send an update, but it's still out there. I muted the chat so at least I don't get smacked in the face if I get a notification and wham, there's a baby staring back at me. I'm really torn about telling them - I know my SIL will understand, but I also feel like there's an unspoken expectation that you just suck it up because he's not going to be this small for long and we'll miss out on so much of it.

@inthewoods23 I'm never sure when it's going to hit me. I had sad moments when family friends brought their twins to a funeral and had to watch my parents play with them, but when I actually interacted with them I was mostly fine. They warmed my cold, twisted heart for a brief moment, and brightened up an otherwise very sad room. Alone in the car is the worst for me. Sob city.

  • @kiki047 One thing that has been immensely helpful for me is to remind myself that I don't know what other peoples' journey was like. I'm close to my family, but they have no idea I had even one loss, much less five. When I tell myself that maybe it took them years or they had losses before they got that baby, I start to feel more at peace with the situation. It doesn't always work, but it's worth a try.
    kiki047shamrocandrollmarebear15brookert615
  • @inthewoods23 I agree - its between me and DH. It's hard enough to manage my own emotions without feeling like I have to make my mom feel better about my losses.  *TW* I saw how my mom reacted to my cousin's loss at 16 weeks, and I just even begin to deal with that. *End TW* Also, it's nice that no one feels sorry for me or asks questions, but the downside is that no one knows to be sensitive about certain things and I don't let on that I'm having a hard time. So kind of a toss up.
  • @lulu1180 right? Half the time I just want to respond "FU!" and nothing else.

  • Please recommend your favorite documentary!  I have started to bring home some of my work, so I have been watching documentaries while I do it, since I can pay attention while not needing to look up much.  I watched an okay okay one on Rome, the tried another one but narrator kept saying Pompei instead of Pompey and it bother me, more than any of the other inconsistencies.
