Symptoms 1/13

Re: Symptoms 1/13

  • Okay, so glad I am not the only one with returning congestion. Has anyone ever heard of pyogenic granulomas aka pregnancy tumor? I ended up getting one with DD and surprise I have another one this pregnancy. They are the worst and bleed like crazy. Doesn't help that I am on aspirin either...

  • Cool thanks everyone!
  • Ugh.  I go from not wanting to eat at all to suddenly ravenous.  But then if I eat a normal size meal, I burp up stomach acid.  :disappointed:

  • Sorry for TMI but the worst symptom is definitely constipation. I had impacted stool this week and I thought I was dying. I took stool softeners laxative then eventually gave myself an enema finally I was able to do the deed but it was the most painful experience of my life. I couldn't sit down I was leaking from back there it was scary.

    Same.
  • @kangstadt @mighty_montgomery I’m just grumpy that if I don’t eat a normal sized meal, DH eats the remainder of whatever my portion would be. Like, I made a delicious quiche (cheddar, mushroom, onion, spinach, bacon) last night when DH said he wouldn’t be eating any. I shared a quarter of it with DD, then DH ate 65% of it, leaving like half a slice which I felt I HAD to eat or it would disappear by morning.

@stefanielyn1991 yikes. Glad you’re past that. Have you tried some diet modifications to help?
  • @midwestmommy90: Yikes! I've never heard of that. Holy cow! It sounds really miserable. Does it require a lot of special treatment?
  • @lyse01 I already eat pretty healthy I think the biggest change I can make is remembering to drink more water. Sometimes I go all day and then realize I didn't drink anything.
    @midwestmommy90 that sounds terrifying!

    Same!
  • @kangstadt DH and I still look at each other and ask if we are old enough to have kids. And this is our second. We are 32 and 33!

@lyse01 I think my LO is just super active but I've been able to do kick counts for quite awhile now. I felt like I had a bruise by my rib this morning!
  • Anyone else dealing with constant nausea and heartburn these days?
  • Pelvic/hip pain is getting worse for me. I got out of my car when I got home from work and seriously felt like I dislocated something.
  • @lyse01 I could not deal.

  • @professormama No nausea for me but definitely with you on the constant heartburn. Tums has been helping some, but it just comes on like a beast sometimes.
  • Oh man, sudden bout of nausea. I opened the fridge to find something to settle my stomach and felt extra bad. Sooo I’m currently lying in bed til it passes.
  • @professormama and @lyse01, it hasn't been constant but twice this week I've woken up in the middle of the night feeling like I'm going to throw up.  I haven't, thankfully, but now I don't know if I should take it as a pregnancy symptom or a potential stomach virus starting... ugh!  I hope we all get through this super special return of first tri nausea soon....
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Maybe this is a little TMI, but I'm finding alongside the pelvic pain I feel like there's a ton of pressure on my cervix, to the point that its pretty painful to walk sometimes. Doesn't feel great... anybody else in this boat?
  • @lyse01 my heartburn is always bad, but I’ve been having waves of nausea after I’ve eaten a meal that’s probably bigger than I should have eaten. I’m really going to have to watch that and eat smaller meals. Baby’s only getting bigger and squishing my poor organs!
  • Anyone else dealing with anemia? I had a full blood count today and I’m super anemic. Like ridiculously anemic. This would explain my awful shortness of breath.
  • @kate_e_nb, not sure it's the same, but I definitely have an uncomfortable feeling down there after standing for awhile, hasn't been to the point of unable to walk yet (sciatica does that though).  Maybe ask your OB at your next appointment?

@lilpotatomama, I'm just slightly anemic (probably because I'm vegetarian so no red meat), and I definitely think it adds to my exhaustion/shortness of breath.  Although babe and squished organs now contribute to a lot of that breathlessness too.  I'm taking an iron supplement that's supposed to be gentle on your stomach, but I've already had to skip a few because it makes me so constipated :expressionless:.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lilpotatomama For sure! Its gotten a little better since the end of the 2nd trimester, but I've always been anemic, so a big dip during pregnancy was expected. If you can stomach it, the Ferrous Sulphate really does make a huge difference! Not sure what your diet is usually like, but being anemic is always a good excuse to stuff your face with steak (if you like it!). Spinach is a really good one too, DH is always throwing it in with literally everything he cooks to help me keep iron levels up. Surprisingly, mangos and sweet potato are really high in iron too!

Also, @kangstadt, one of the things I learned before I started eating meat again is that a lot of those soy meats (like the fake chicken and fake ground round) are fortified with iron too! Definitely helps if your levels take a dip!
  • @lilpotatomama I was anemic last time so I’ve been extra diligent about my iron supplements. I take a double dose and haven’t had issues. Except you know the constipation. But I take a daily stool softener to help with that.

  • @kate_e_nb, yep, I do a lot of the veggie proteins.  Haven't been craving sweet potatoes lately, but spinach is pretty standard in our diets as well.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kangstadt and @lilpotatomama my doc has me taking a flinstone with iron daily (yes kids vitamin) on top of my prenatal. Apparently just as good and no I’ll effects so far.
  • @kate_e_nb I'm not sure if it's pressure but my erm vaginal area is always hurting Idk what it is!
Ive never been a big water drinker but ive recently realized its a miracle worker. Ive been getting dizzy and light headed when I try to stand up but a bottle of water usually solves this.
I'm sorry for you ladies with the return of nausea! I pray it ends soon!
  • @kangstadt @kate_e_nb @thatbaintforbetty @professormama the crazy thing is that I’m already on an iron supplement. Guess I’ll have to load up on mangos. I’ve been loving mangos, so glad they have iron!

@lilpotatomama there is some evidence that cooking in a cast iron pan/pot can help raise iron levels! When I was real anemic earlier this pregnancy we switched to making as much as possible in cast iron and my numbers have increased somewhat, and my OB was predicting they would plummet in second/third tri. He had also sent me to a hematologist who was going to get me on iron transfusions if my numbers didn't pop back up, that may be an option as well?

ETA if you don't have cast iron, you can also order a little iron fish (I think it's Lucky Iron Fish) to add to things you're cooking which will also release iron into your foods.

  • I'm back on the emotional rollercoaster. This morning I had a meltdown because I got dog poop on my freaking houseshoe. Of course they can be cleaned but thanks to my pregnancy hormones, I was convinced it was the end of the world.

@kate_e_nb: I've had all kinds of pelvic pain off and on. Right now, that whole region (not even going to begin to try to guess which exact part 'cause they're all swollen together anyway) aches pretty seriously for about the first minute after I get up.  Each of my bouts has been different and has lasted a couple of weeks. Doesn't hurt to ask your OB, though - mine told me to get serious about kegels, and I think it's helped at points.

ETA: Holy heart palpitations. They're benign (had them checked out the first time around) but freaky, and I totally forgot about them.  They throw my whole body into jungle alert mode - no good for sleeping. :(
  • Woke up last night choking on acid. That was the worst symptom of my last pregnancy and I was hoping I would escape it this time. Guess not!

  • @MRDCle I’m so with you. I keep having vomit burps.

Newest thing: back pain in general; and today low back pain and shooting pain through my right hip.
  • @MRDCle @professormama yuck.

I’ve been crashing, energy-wise, around 4:30-5 for the past few days. I rallied to make dinner tonight, and need to rally again, but I think I need to start making dinner (or napping) in the early afternoon so I don’t have to push through this at dinner time.
  • Spent most of the morning with my right leg half numb, pain and tingling shooting from my hip downwards. I know she's not siting on a nerve cause she was moving around tons. Thankfully a hot shower helped some but it was definitely not fun.

  • I've been so irritable. I even irritate myself. Anyone else?
  • @MRDCle:  ME TOO!  :grimace:  It was super terrifying because I was in the middle of a dream and thought I was choking to death, and then I woke up to discover I *was* unable to breathe normally or swallow.

DH was just like, "Were you chugging Tums in the middle of the night, or did I just dream that?"
  • @stefanielyn1991 Yes, daily. Constantly wondering “what is wrong with me?!” And unable to change my idiotic behavior.

@MRDCle @TheSouffleGirl the acid situation was really out of control last week. Actually was complaining to my mom about heartburn, and she was like “is that when your throat burns?” And I had to explain about reflux in your throat and mouth as well as describing heartburn. To my own mom.

Honestly I use papaya enzyme chews (not technically approved for pregnancy but my doula says they’re safe) and drink a shot of watered down apple cider vinegar (braggs) after dinner or all meals, and it really cuts down on my middle of the night choking on acid episodes.
    Me: 29 DW: 44
  • Oh my word I’m tired of the reflux too. It’s still not as bad as I had it with DD, but it’s bad.

Also, this time around my bump feels like the uterus is growing faster than the skin. So stretched feeling. I’m going to end up with way more stretch marks this time. And probably DR. It hurts to pick up DD now.
  • I had some spotting and very mild contractions this weekend... Nothing today, just feeling generally crappy and achy. Is it time to stop working yet???😅😅
  • This weekend I felt super crampy, like I was going to start my period. No spotting and they didn't feel like BH (or what I think of as BH) so it's kinda weird.
  • I think baby is head up right now because he was kicking the crap out of my nether regions last night. It actually hurt! So far today has been better!
