So I’ve been uncomfortable and tired all day. Haven’t really been hungry since breakfast. And I got back from my progesterone shot and DD was still not napping and therefore pretty much a whiny tornado. I tried to coax her into bed because I wanted to nap too but no dice. Sat on the couch because I was uncomfortable and ended up with a very active LO, DD asleep on top of me, and uterine tightening.
Braxton Hicks right? But it seemed to stay tight for a long time and maybe not release or maybe release and then retighten quickly. It sorta felt like when labor with DD started but way less measurable. Peeing maybe helped, shifting position didn’t really help, the rest of my glass of cider just gave me heartburn, and LO is still super active: stretches, flutter kicks, hard kicks, so I’m having a hard time telling if everything stopped. I think so.
meanwhile, mid-tightening I was in tears because the idea of real labor at 30+6 weeks is fucking terrifying to me.
@lyse01 always call if it will give you peace of mind. They work for YOU and this is why there’s always someone available to you. If it helps, my BH the other night we’re bas enough I timed them with a timer app and there didn’t end up being a pattern and they petered out. They definitely felt more real than my other BH though.
@mrdcle@thatbaintforbetty@professormama thanks. Update: everything has relaxed, I have some energy again, and somehow I’ve parlayed this into DH actually taking the online childbirth class that he promised to start a month ago. I’ll likely call in the morning, earlier if it starts again, no later than my appt on Thursday, and try to keep better count of what’s going on - my hesitation definitely had a lot to do with feeling like my answer to every question was going to be “I don’t know.”
@lyse01 around that time is when I started having prolonged BH with DD and started timing them. Nothing came of it, and it continued off and on for the rest of the pregnancy. I did call in once about it, but all they did was tell me to lie down, drink water, and make sure I was timing it. Hope it calms down for you. Was it a particularly physically tiring day? That can trigger that for me.
@lyse01 I'm also completely paralyzed by the thought of early labor after what we went through with DD. Last night, I could've sworn that I was having BH and I was seriously having a panic attack but they calmed down. It turned out to be gas. So nothing like what you experienced but I do understand your paralyzing fear of early labor. Hugs.
@lyse01 actually yeah, long car trips can totally do that to me. Especially since I tend to dehydrate myself a little so I don’t have to stop constantly to pee.
Ugh I'm still having constipation issues and im ready to give up. I no longer use the restroom regularly at all. Its just sits there ready to come but refusing to move. I'm drinking water taking still softeners I just want to be done with this. I'm miserable
@stefanielyn1991 try eating oatmeal or other fiberous foods, and having a cup of coffee? Not sure...it’s not my usual complaint, but I hope you find relief.
as for me, bending past 90° is so uncomfortable, ie sitting on the couch to pick up the books on the floor is probably squishing everything inside. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with tiny buckles or laces on work shoes and can just use my slip on llbean mocs. I also gave DH fair warning that he was going to hear “I’m so uncomfortable” a lot in the next few months
@stefanielyn1991 ugh that’s the worst. I agree with a huge bowl of oatmeal, with fresh fruits, a few cans of prune juice, and a long walk, that usually does it for me.
@lyse01 it’s hilarious now for me to try to get things off the floor! Sometimes I sit down, grab the object, and then struggle to get up
@stefanielyn1991 I've struggled with constipation during and way before this pregnancy. I take Miralax every day, but it's almost a baseline now and hasn't helped much during this pregnancy. My midwife told me to drink prune juice once a day. I honestly didn't think it would help, but it really has!!
Thanks for the advice I think I'll try prune juice. Does it taste terrible? I have a really weak stomach. As for walking I would love to but they say stay indoors because even a little time outside could result in frostbite! It's freezing! I took a laxative then read a bunch of forums saying it isnt safe but I'm pretty sure its on my list of safe medicines from the obgyn. I'll tey oatmeal too. Thanks guys!
My anxiety seems to have started to get extreme. If the baby does not move for a while I start thinking that something has happened. I have an anterior placenta so i think I am missing a lot of the small movements. So I only really feel him when he has strong kicks and punches. So hours will go by with nothing. Then he will kick up a storm. Making me a nervous wreck!
@stefanielyn1991: Or a super fibrous cereal! I just switched to a cup of something that had 50%+ of the recommended taily intake (over yoghurt because I die by 9:30 without protein) and it made things a LOT easier for me.
@jayhawkmom4 I can totally relate with the anxiety over not feeling movement for a while. I also have an anterior placenta and I'm convinced this baby also just likes to scare me. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with an April Fool's Day baby with as many "PSYCH! Just kidding!"moments we've had with her.
@TheSouffleGirl I buy Fiber One cereal!! Looks like the pellets you get at the zoo to feed the goats and zebras haha but I really do like that it has a crazy amount of fiber in it. I pair it with Special K's new protein cereal that tastes good. There's also this cereal that you can order from Amazon. I haven't tried it yet, but I am interested for post-delivery since I've heard awful things about constipation then...
Fiber gummies. I’ve been stuck on them for months now. I take 2-3 every morning and I’m very regular. If I skip them for even one day, it messes me up! If I eat too much cheese, I pull out the Metamucil. Tastes like tang if you drink it fast enough 🤷🏻♀️ Both work for me so far. Forgot my gummies when I was on vacation a few weeks ago. Took colace and literally NOTHING happened. So I’m not sure what my strategy will be for after delivery.
@MRDCle I agree. I was terrified over it because of what everyone else was saying, but I don't remember it being nearly as bad as all the hype suggested.
+1 for saying that postpartum bathroom situation not being that terrible. Although I will say, I avoided the pain killers they offer you in the hospital and just stuck with ibuprofen, because some of the more serious painkillers can definitely plug you up. The main thing that was uncomfortable for me was that it did cause some uterine cramping. But it was cramping on level with period cramping, definitely manageable. People scared the sh*t out of me, and it just wasn't that awful.
I agree with PP. I was so so afraid! I was on stool softeners from day one as well. I was told to hold one hand over the incision when pushing - not sure if that would actually do anything or just more of a mental thing? Pregnancy is so magical

Post csection the constipation was terrible for me even with the hospital stool softeners because i was still taking the pain meds. Once i got home I ended up taking stool softners, miralax, and prune juice. This time I'm taking prune juice in my hosptal bag cause I'm not going through that again!
