Had our first appointment today. Baby is measuring a few days behind but nothing too worrisome there. Saw the heartbeat although the doc didn’t give us an exact heart rate. He did see a blood clot or subchorionic hematoma that increases risk of MC. So now I have that to worry about. We will go back in 2 weeks to see if the blood clot is reabsorbing. So it overall it went okay, but not great.
Had our first confirmation US yesterday morning. We were guestimating closer to seven weeks, but babe measured at 6w0d. We couldn't hear the heartbeat, but we could see flutters. We go back in three weeks for another US to confirm everything is progressing normally.

First u/s today at 6w4d. Honestly this early it’s just all blobs to me but my dr diligently showed us the flutter of the HB and also had us listen. I think HB was clocked at 138. Here’s the pic with sound waves. I think the print out said measuring 6w1d but my dr said the embryo was measuring at .4 cm and anything between .25 and .5 would be just right.
just went in for my first prenatal check up to find out that I’m having twins...again. I had a set of twins my first pregnancy in 2007. I have 3 kids and one more was what I was trying for, but clearly life had other plans. I feel really terrible because my partner is SO excited and i feel the complete opposite and cant help but cry.
@joannaaabanana89 when I found out we were having twins my DH was over the moon and I was terrified for weeks. I had a solid idea of the work/stress that twins meant. You've been through it you know how hard it can be in those first few months/years. Give it time and you will also remember the magic of twins, the bond they have, those double hugs/kisses. Your older kids are old enough too that they will be able to help some and it will be better. Its OK to be scared, but just try to remember the joy too. MoM's can do anything (really there is no other choice), you've got this.

@kssfirstbaby That heart rate is normal for a baby of that gestational age, the heart has just started beating so its slower. PLEASE do NOT ask us if its a boy or girl. No one can tell you at this stage unless you did IVF and PGS testing, and even then you'd ask your RE/embryologist not internet strangers. Your chances are 50:50 or it could just be a t-rex...

@kssfirstbaby The Bump ladies tend to be very science based, and at 6 weeks there is literally no way to say whether it looks like a girl or a boy, so you’re probably not going to get the fun, random guesses you’re searching for.
@kssfirstbaby Were you looking for gender predictions or for someone to see a gender in your u/s?

It costs absolutely nothing to be kind to one another. I am sure she asks because as she stated, she is nervous due to the heartbeat. I might be wrong but I did not see anywhere that she asks about whether or not it's a girl/boy. She just wanted some encouragement, like if any second or third time mom had a heartbeat like that before and had a great turnout. I guess she was hoping that whomever it is could share it with her. There's no need to mock her.
Personally I would advice you not to worry, the heartbeat might be due to the fact that the baby is still very small! Gives it a week or two and see! Try to relax Mama! Best of luck with everything!
@bea725 That’s because she edited her original post... Not trying to be mean, just saying that we generally aren’t going to respond “omg it’s totes a girl!” or “I’m guessing boy!” based on a 6 week ultrasound.
@kssfirstbaby From Dr. Google, a normal range is 90-110 bpm for 6-7 weeks so I definitely wouldn’t consider 118 to be low. I’m hoping to get a heartbeat measured on Thursday.
Thanks @dogmomma096 and thank you for the kindness @bea725. I did edit my original post because I felt embarrassed. I did originally post because I was looking for reassurance re: ultrasound showing slower HR and smaller gestational age than LMP would suggest. I asked gender guesses because I was trying to allow myself some hopeful excitement/distraction. Feels a bit like this forum is talking at one another, not with one another- not sure it’s the space for me. Best of luck to all of you though!! Excited and hopeful for all of us! And forgive the overly sensitive pregnancy hormones.
@kssfirstbaby at 6+1 mine has a HB of 105 and 1 week later was up to 156. I would say yours is fairly strong. And yes, it’s generally discouraged for asking the sex when obviously we have no way to know - however, you weren’t the only or first person to do so here - yet you alone got flamed for it. Sorry about that - it’s actually a pretty supportive group but you do have to deal with some fiesty from time to time. It can be fun if you aren’t too sensitive. Just toss some snark back, all the regulars can take it.

I did fail to QFP since OP edited her post... @olivemomma I did very nearly mildly flame the other ladies...Hell it was my BF or flame free confession that we should not be encouraging this ish. @kssfirstbaby Girl...STAHP. There are plenty of supportive spaces on this board for you to fret about your pregnancy (I know because I've done it). But showing a 6 week u/s and then asking us what we think the sex is isn't constructive or helpful for anyone, including you.
What would knowing the sex at this point do for you anyway? You don't know if your child is destined to be trans or have testosterone insensitivity...so really, it only tells you a minor physical trait. Asking us, when your baby won't even start developing genitals until 8 weeks, is annoying. To quite a few of us. It's like asking if we think your baby will have blue or brown eyes....when it doesn't even have eyeballs yet. As someone deeply engaged in science, I think it's important to acknowledge it wherever and whenever we can.
You've actually gotten a bevy of support--someone even went and googled what normal ranges for heartrates at 6 weeks were for you, even though you are perfectly capable of doing that yourself. If you don't believe Dr. Google, you can also ask your doctor, which is what I would have done in the first place if I were concerned about the viability of my embryo.
I see this board as a place to vent real concerns and ask for social support from other women that have been through it. If you'd like mindless guesses about your baby's genitals, the BMBs on Facebook are good for that. I go there whenever I want to be reminded of how my degrees have benefitted me.
8w3d today. I completely freaked out thinking there would be awful news. I sat there praying in agony because I truly don't think I have another IVF in me. My ass is sore and numb from the shots. When I heard his heart beat (185), all of my fears, in that moment, melted away. Complete awe is the only way to describe it. All I wanted to do was listen to it forever. My rainbow. My little boy. I have a little baby. I'm someone's Mother
