Is it too early to start the January discussion?
I'm likely do another cycle in January. I'm 38 and have very low AMH (.03). I did my first cycle in October/November which resulted in one follicle which unfortunately turned out to be empty at egg retrieval. My protocol will be changing slightly. I understand the reality of my situation and that the odds are not in my favor, but I am not ready to give up yet.
Re: January 2019 IVF
I've been doing acupuncture between about 1-3x/week since August. I have insurance that covers that but unfortunately my benefits are exhausted for the the rest of the year. I'm just going to go 1x/week until January. I'm not sure if acupuncture really makes a difference but it can't hurt. I also started taking 600mg of CoQ10 a couple of weeks ago.
Some days I'm still in shock that this invasive and expensive treatment is what we have to do for a chance to have a baby.
I see we have one person who has been through IVF and three first-timers. Is that correct?
Me - anovulatory, non-Insulin PCOS, DH - low end of "normal" sperm count
IUI#1 - 02/15 - Cancelled due to scrubbed sperm count <1MM
IVF#1 - 08/15 - 13x5-day blastocysts (ranging from AA-BB, most are 5 or 6), not PGS, on ice
FET#1 - 10/15 - 1 emb - BFP (DD 07/16) (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
FET#2 - 07/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
FET#3 - 08/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
FET#4 - 10/17 - 2 emb - BFN (changed to estrace + prometrium because of allergic reaction to PIO sesame oil)
ERA Testing - 12/17 - window moved (-1 day)
FET#5 - 03/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
Karyotype Testing - 04/18 - Negative (we're ok)
FET#6 - 06/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
FET#7 - 10/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
FET#8 - 11/18 - 2 emb - BFP; looks like one baby is going to make it, DD is due 8/16 (though likely to be 8/9)
Does everyone have a date in January for the ER (egg retrieval)? Has anyone started their medication? I'm trying to remember what that process was like ... I only remember it being overwhelming.

I am a genetic carrier using PGD testing
Dec 2018 ER = 0 PGS normal embryos
Jan 2019 ER = 1 PGD/ PGS normal embryo, 1 carrier embryo, 1 no result
April 2019 Hysteroscopy to remove polyp and Fibroid
May 2019 FET = BFN
September 2019 FET = BFN
Dec 2019 ER = 1 carrier embryo
Mar ER = 0 PGS normal embryos
July 2020 ER = 0 PGS normal embryos
October 2020 Hysteroscopy to remove polyps
Nov 2020 FET = positive (little one due July 2021)
I tried a cycle in Nov/Dec but we never even got out of the gate. After I stopped the BCP and went in for my ultrasound on the day I was supposed to start the stims, my RE noticed that a cyst had developed on my right ovary and we were cancelled. Since then, I have been put back on the BCP in the hopes of shrinking the cyst (which has worked, it's gone from 33mm to less than 15mm), I will stop the BCP on Dec 7 and go back on Dec 10 so my RE can check me all out again. I'll get the game plan for January during that visit.
We we will be doing an FET, probably sometime in March.
@ellis1983 we are in similar boats.. I’m 33 and unexplained. Trying for 13 months and did 3 IUIs (3 follicles on clomid per round too). My ovarian reserve is normal for age.. and the 2 things that have been thrown out there as potential causes are silent-ish endometriosis (bc I have pain when I ovulate) and/ or my hubby’s borderline morphology. I just got an ivf coloring book on Amazon bc I know I’ll be on pins and needles (pun intended) the entire ivf round!
@pgdwivf hello again!
I will be doing a FET in January. Starting my birth control Monday for two weeks, 2 weeks Lupron injections, then 2 weeks oral meds then transfer around January 18-20.
I have had 4 failed IVF attempts this year and have been TTC for over 3 years. I’m 33 and husband is 35. This last ER in November is the farthest I have been so far. I was able to get 5 in the freezer. I have never had any blast at all in my previous attempts so I’m starting to feel hopeful.
somewhereinnyc the doses for stims are different for everyone. Don't be concerned as the RE checks the ultrasound so frequently they will adjust as needed. Mine did, he added an extra day at the end with a lower dose. I was on 225 Gonal F 9 days and last (day 10) day at 175.
@platasolWed49228 We got this
2019 is defiantly ours!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on this thread. So grateful for this opportunity to share my thoughts with you.
Unfortunately, our credit from my last cycle ended up being least than we thought it would be after my insurance didn't pay for some of my testing. So that was disappointing. My clinic gave me a "cash pay" discount, so that helped take it down a few hundred. I don't think this is unique, but that just seems so shady to charge my insurance one price and when they don't pay, charge me half? I'm waiting to see if there are any other "discounts" my clinic can give me. I hate asking and that's totally not how I usually do things, but I have actually saved some money by asking my clinic and pharmacy. Apparently some of this is arbitrary and negotiable. All of this is so unnecessarily and insanely expensive. I wish I would have asked my first cycle.
Hello, all! I am doing IVF due to MFI. My DH has surgery as a baby that essentially also left him with an unexpected vasectomy. I am scheduled to start stims 1/5 with a tentative retrieval the 16th. This is our second IVF cycle. Last one was May 2018 where we got 6 embryos. Out of those we had **TW** 2 successful pregnancies that both ended about 6 weeks along. *TW end* I’m emotionally drained from the first IVF attempt, but ready to try again. I look forward to the journey with you all!
I got the go ahead for my (second) retrieval to start with Jan AF (somewhere around the 7th). Was really struggling with going for another retrieval. RE changed the injection with hopes the more of the mature fertilized make it to 5 day blasts. Taking Gonal F (like last round) but Menopur has been added? Anyone familiar with Menopur?
sbhawnani my retrieval was day 13. It is based on how well your follicles are growing, so it is case by case basis. My RE thought it might be day 11 but added another day with a lower stim dose after the day 10 ultrasound.
11/30 14 mature, 9 fertilized
12/6 (2) 5day blasts tested PGD/PGS
12/21 (2) embryos were unhealthy both PGS positive, one PGD positive

My doctor has advised against the genetic screening of embryos. Do any of you ladies feel it is necessary?
@ah80 Done with my last BC last night and now holding my breath for AF to show up. How are you doing? Are you doing anything to be positive about this whole thing? I am currently on the struggle bus. It's nice to be able to come here and talk to you girls about anything and everything.
