Re: November 2018 IUI

  • @bobella22 that’s good to hear good luck!
    @31magnolia good luck!
  • Loading the player...
  • @31magnolia Our RE suggests bd night of trigger skip a day then night of iui and day after. He always says give those eggs as much opportunity as possible. Good luck!
  • 31magnolia  - Beta is the pregnancy test with blood work. I learnt it here on Bump. Its crazy , so many acronyms :hushed:
  • Thanks everyone.
    @pegs007 - ahhh ok. lol. thanks.
  • Well ok... so I just got a call from the doctor saying that my body has started ovulating and they are moving up the iui to tomorrow! 😏 now I’m really nervous.
  • @31magnia that happened to me last month on injections, I did the trigger that day and iui next day.
  • @31magnolia - Lots of good luck, xx
  • The doctor told me to skip the trigger. And to BD tonight, have iui tomorrow and BD the following night. Our original iui time was perfect for my boyfriend. He could do the collection at home and just take it to the doctor’s office. Now We have a later time tomorrow in the middle of traffic, so now he might not be able to do the collection at home and that has his anxiety levels sky high!
  • @31magnolia Tell him my husband was like that the first few times now he is used to it! We live too far for him to collect at home so he always has to visit the “white room” as we call it. Just try to relax. Our first one we were both so anxious and this last one we were more relaxed and it was much better all around.

    Thanks for the love and support ladies. This holiday break and the long weekend was pretty rough. I was really not in the mood to see anyone on Thanksgiving (the day I realized the iui most likely failed) But I had 3 days full of family gatherings with aunts asking if I'm eating for 2 (um, no I'm just fat and depressed eating), my mother shoving a baby into my arms even when I told her not to a thousand times, and then cousins getting excited because I'm "late" even though I tried explaining that progesterone will do that... My beta came back negative today, no surprise there (I'm 17dpo). I hadn't realized MH was still holding onto hope, so he was pretty hurt by the news. He said he didn't trust the "cheap tests you buy off the internet." Well, here's hoping femara will work better than clomid! On to cycle #2. I have my FX for everyone!

  • @LJMoon6 I’m sorry!

    For me, I started spotting today (12dpo), so it looks like I’m out and I didn’t even get to test. We are still deciding what we will do this month, as we will most likely need to move onto ivf. We will probably break due to costs.
  • Oh no @LJMoon6 I'm so sorry. The holidays are tough and I know the feeling of disappointment with the husband.
    @ispi I was so hoping this was your month.
     Good luck @31magnolia. I triggered last night and will do back to back IUIs today and tomorrow so we will be IUI buddies. Lol .
        Hoping for some good news from you ladies soon. We have to stay positive. It is going to happen for us.

  • Hello ladies, so much has been happening with everyone, and I hope that the holiday season isn’t making matters worse for everyone. My IUI was Friday, and I FINALLY saw a temp spike over the weekend. Progesterone was over 4 yesterday, so the RN says this confirms ovulation, and I don’t need progesterone. But I am tempted to start a natural progesterone cream...

    @mooret1118 I totally know what you mean about wanting to shop, but thinking it might be a jinx. I bought a onesie last month to use for announcement because I was so confident, and it was a huge letdown. I also have a drink during the follicular phase.

    @crookshanks10. What type of progesterone are you taking? Did they recommend it after a level? Or short luteal phase? I am hoping that many of us won’t be on the December board, but I am so grateful for this group!

    @31magnolia that’s great that you got to start with follistim! Sounds like a proactive RE! I also am on estrace for my lining ugghhhhh! What was the test that indicated impending ovulation?

    @ispi. I am so sorry to hear about the spotting. Has your RE officially discussed moving to IVF? I often think the chances are higher and I would like to just do IVF already.

    @sarahtothea. Thank you for the encouragement. How are you? When is your beta??

    @LJMoon6 I can completely relate to issues with family members and offensive comments. I am so sorry about the negative. Hang in there!

    @bobella22 thank you so much for talking me down! I finally had confirmation of ovulation over the weekend. Whyyyyyy did they recommend waiting 5 days! That seems so long! Good luck to you!

    @pegs007 thank you. My IUI was also on Friday. The TWW seems a little easier this time. I am trying not to get my hopes up like last cycle.

    I am am thinking positive thoughts for all of you ladies.
  • @LJMoon6 Sorry to hear your beta was negative and sorry for your family's insensitivity :( I can't imagine.
    @ispi Boo for spotting.
    @bobella22 FX for you!!
    @annierose3 I've been using progesterone suppositories for LP defect. I've had the 21 day level test 2x and both times it was normal but I typically start spotting 5dpo or shortly thereafter, and last cycle, my first with progesterone, I didn't have any spotting! It was a miracle! I wish they put everyone on progesterone for IUIs, it wouldn't hurt anything!
  • @mooret1118 don't feel too bad, sometimes you just have to have a day to not think about IF stuff. ^^

    @LJMoon6 I'm so sorry :( It sounds like it was a really tough time for you.... I'm sorry that your family was being insensitive. The first "unsuccessful" cycle hits really hard <3

    @ispi I'm sorry!!! :(

    @31magnolia Yay! FX for you!!! Ahhh my husband is always so stressed about the collection too lol We live like 10 mins away from the hospital but he always does it there cause the drive stresses him lol It's nothing to him now so it does get easier! ^^

    @bobella22 FX!!!!

    @annierose3 Yay for having your IUI! My place doesn't do Beta until I test positive. So I will test Saturday if AF doesn't show before then (Supposed to show up Friday but plays mind games. It's super consistent most of the time and then messes with me others so who knows lol)

    I'm so sorry to break up this positivity gravy train. Suggesting that pregnancy will happen if you just stay positive is completely unfounded. It's also very insensitive and harmful to suggest that it will happen at all since you cannot know that for sure. You may have not meant to imply these things but it's how it comes off.

  • Well it looks like we will be joining the December group...
  • Oh no @mooret1118 im so sorry to hear.
  • @annierose3 he discussed four rounds of injections and iui and then moving on. It is just all out of pocket so we may break in between. Overall they believe with my AMH being above 40 that there is a higher percentage of bad eggs vs good one, as with PCOS.
  • I'll be seeing ya'll in December thread for IUI. AF never came but my RE started my levels were low enough to just start a new treatment cycle. Tomorrow I start taking femara 5mg! I'm excited to start a new medication and hoping it does some good to my follies!!  <3
  • Hey ladies - The last two days have been eventful. First of all, the anxiety of collection at the doctor's office reared its ugly head. I felt so bad for my boyfriend you could tell he was upset, disappointed and felt he let us both down. Luckily the doctor said we could take an hour break and come back, so we rushed home. He was able to do the deed and rushed back with the collection. All within an hour (whew!).
    The IUI itself wasn't too bad. Towards the end there was definitely some cramping and pain. What got me was two hours later!! I could not sit or stand. My entire abdominal wall was cramping and in pain! I also got a mild fever. I got home cranked up the heat and slept for 5 hours. I'm actually still hurting today, just not as bad as yesterday. And the fever has gone away. We're supposed to BD tonight, but I don't think I can.  :( Did anyone else experience severe pain hours later?

    @bobella22 - Good luck IUI buddy. Did you have any pain?

    @annierose3 - The tested  Progesterone, Estradiol, and LH levels. I'm not sure which one said I was ovulating.

  • @mooret1118 - so sorry to hear.

    @melcab7 - good luck on the new medicine.
  • @31magnolia So sorry to hear of the troubles. I can’t remember and didn’t read back did I you trigger? The night of our first one I almost felt like I had the flu, the my body has been run over aches. I ended up laying on an ice pack as that was the only thing that I found helped the pain. I personally assumed that it was the pain from the ovulation since I had 4 follicles that time. I can say my second wasn’t near as bad, some tenderness but nothing like the first. FX you won’t need to go through it again.
  • @mooret1118 no i didn't trigger. the doc said i was ovulating on my own. I had 3 follicles maturing so maybe that was it too, but I almost feel like i was also having intestinal pain, so I don't know what was going on. But that is what it sort of felt like, the flu, mixed with several stomach cramping and backaches.
    The doctor did say that if this one isn't successful, they will bring me in sooner to do the u/s and labs, maybe day 9.
  • @31magnolia hope you feel better.
       Was wondering if any of you ladies also did back to back IUIs? Also, how long after IUI do they have you lay there? My RE always says 5 minutes but I try to stay for at least 10 or however long my bladder allows me.  They, always want us to have full bladder with iui also.  Anyone else?
  • @bobella22 Mine has me lay there for 15 minutes then says light activity the rest of the day. I always have to have an empty bladder according to mine. Do they do an us right before externally?
  • @bobella22 mine said a full bladder and I had to lay at a decline for 10 minutes. But told me I could go back to work and normal activity. That last part was definitely not the case!

    It’s funny how every doctor is different.
  • And mine did do an external u/s before the iui.
  • @31magnolia - FX for your IUI! The first one is always the hardest. Hope you get better soon.My RE got my bladder empty for IUI and never did an US before IUI. He does an US 2 days before usually. Your RE is awesome I would say.

    @melcab7, @bobella22@mooret1118 - I am sorry I was truly hoping that November is the month for all of us. Lots of good wishes for your cycles.
    @bobella22 - What does back to back IUI mean?

    @ispi - Good luck to you for IVF. IVF has so much more success rate.I feel its any day better than IUI. But REs don't move straight to IVF somehow.

    @annierose3 - Happy to know your  TWW is going well!

    I am taking progesterone daily and it makes me super dizzy throughout. I feel heavily morning sick too. Did you guys experience any of this? My RE never checked my Progesterone levels though before prescribing,did he miss that?
  • Yes mine did an external ultrasound also.
    @pegs007 back to back iui is when you do two in the same cycle. So I triggered Mon night then did iui Tues and Weds. I start progesterone todat.The progesterone def mimics early pg symptoms. Im a little nauseous everytime but I wouldn't worry about it doing any harm. It is supposed to be very helpful. So now my dreaded 2ww begins.

  • bobella22 - Ah got it! Yeah I was told progesterone is good no matter what. Thanks for explaining back to back IUI concept, I had no clue.
  • @bobella22 - The tww begins for me too. I also start my progesterone tonight. Are you doing shots or suppositories?

    The doctor originally had on the contract to IUIs in the same cycle but they decided not to go that route. Did everyone else have the partner's sperm split into two groups, the A group and the B group? The first in the uterus and the second around the cervix (mimicking intercourse) in the same IUI session?
  • I wish that my RE would just give me progesterone. I don’t want to be on unopposed estrogen. I tried to ask the RN, but she says my level is fine. So I went out and got a natural progesterone cream and began that last night. I figured if I DO have a BFP, I will confess it then!
  • Omg I feel like a basket case today! I called the office to make my appointments and they asked if I wanted to do another round or see the dr first and told her we are going to do our last iui.

    Last night my my husband and I talked and we said from the beginning we would do 3 rounds of iui and that was it, if it didn’t happen we would just see what happens naturally again.

    I dont know what what it was about telling her this was it, one last time, hit me like a ton of bricks. I have been trying to be positive and not stress but dang this is the worse I’ve probably felt since all of this started.
  • @mooret1118 - awww (hugs). I can definitely see how that can unnerve you. Will they try something different this time around? If they don't suggest it, maybe you should (if you haven't already). Maybe get really aggressive.
  • @mooret1118 Awww I'm sorry! This whole process is so emotionally draining, it honestly sucks! Thinking of you and hoping you feel better!

    @31magnolia Aww, sounds like a rough start but sounds like everything went okay afterwards, besides the pain! I thought my first one was awfulllll! I felt like I had to be hunched over because then I straightened out it felt like I was going to tear my abdomen muscles lol. But my second one was MUCH better so I guess it just depends how your body feels at the time lol Glad your pain is starting to go away though!

    Ugh these last two days of the TWW are being particularly difficult. I'm trying to stop my natural inclination to symptom spot/whatever the opposite of that like "Oh I have this feeling... so I'm definitely not pregnant" and just chill the heck out! AF is supposed to start tomorrow so I'm thinking of testing tomorrow morning if it doesn't show by then even though it's a day early from when I was told to test. Ha ha

  • @sarahtothea I can imagine this home stretch is excruciating. lol. I’m having a hard time not looking ahead.
    I can say I’m just now starting to feel less pain. I have serious gas pains though and some mild cramps but NOTHING like the last two days. Not sure why I was at the pain extreme.
    I do have a question though. Are any of the meds (letrozole, Follistim, estrace) causing emotional mood swings?. I saw a commercial about 5 minutes ago about a soldier coming home and I started balling!!!
