Re: Randoms 10/29

  • @ki1244 The struggle to not spend a lot is real.  Here is a post from before with a lot of good info. One surprising place was Old Navy clearance, mine doesn't sell maternity so when people return to that location the clothes go on their clearance.

  • @shamrocandroll for around here - in the vitamin section

@ki1244 I got a couple nice maternity jeans and pants/capris but since all my babies have been summer ones, the easiest thing for me was to go to target and buy a bunch of normal layering tank tops one size up and a couple nice cardigans or zip up hoodies really was all I needed (besides a nice maternity too or two for a night out or party) - they worked postpartum as well. But I am a stay at home mom so I didn’t quite need to dress up or vary much.

Destination maternity has really cute dressier clothes but target old navy (online) and kohl’s can’t be beat for casual dress.

This go go around I mostly plan on stealing my husbands clothes. I DGAF anymore ;)
  • @jhems776 SHOOT I 100% missed that. Thank you!!! And sorry to clog up the thread. Carry on!

@ki1244 Poshmark. Seriously. I refuse to pay full price for expensive maternity clothes, knowing I won't wear them for very long. I don't like cheap maternity jeans  because they don't stay up. So I buy the ones I like for like half the price. For shirts I like Gap and Old Navy. I get nursing bras at Soma.

I have gotten some pants for work at Motherhood in the past. They're okay.

  • @sparklingdiamond Your US picture is amazing! The little legs kill me

  • I refuse to pay for full price clothes at the best of times. I went to motherhood with my husband (hes the one that cares about "style") and only bought two tops since one was a sweater that i could wear a looonnggg time and will prob be my first day announcing at work shirt and the other was a half priced christmas shirt. Then a pair of pants because they were soooo soft. Havent looked into jeans or anything. My work is pretty lenient as well. I can only wear jeans on fridays so thats the most restrictive. My super soft pants might be a little too casual...

Also my hubby is a bad influence. He threw some months and weeks blocks onto the counter because "we can use them to track baby bump then for pictures in the future". Hes so sweet.
  • @shamrocandroll ours are next to family planning in Target

  • I took the kids on a field trip today. We went to see Aladdin. It was put on by a group of children actors/actresses. They did a great job and the kids had so much fun. I used to love going to see things like that in school so it is awesome that I can take my kids.
  • Hey ladies, I’ve been dirty lurking but not posting as much. I’m just feeling so sick 😓 I didn’t take Zofran today because I need a prescription refill and making the 5 minute trek to Walgreens seems impossible 😞 Diclegis on its own does nothing! Wtf
  • @luckystar28 I'm so sorry you are still so miserable! I totally know what you mean about the 5 minutes being too far though. I feel like once I'm home, leaving the house feels impossible. Hang in there!

  • My random of the day.. first appointment and based on last period I was at 9+ weeks.. according to the ultrasound I am 6. Doc isn’t worried, said it is very common with IUD removal to ovulate late and it was 6 weeks after LMC that I finally got a positive. Got to hear a nice strong heartbeat so I am overjoyed!
  • @eleven_ Thank you!  I thought those looked like legs too but then doubted myself like do they even have legs at 7 weeks lol!
  • @sparklingdiamond My RE said that you can start to see legs and arms around 7-9 weeks. They sure look like legs even if they aren't lol. I love it!

  • @sparklingdiamond and @eleven_ I always think they look like baby gummy bears at that first ultrasound! You guys are making me anxious for next week to be here.
  • Ok I'm going with they are legs because it's cuter that way haha!
  • @luckystar28 can you get Walgreens to deliver your Zofran? I am sorry you aren't feeling well. I physically could not get to work before 2pm today. Thank God my boss doesn't ask any questions.
  • My cat has a biting problem. It is his way of showing affection but it freaking hurts. I wake to him biting my face sometimes. Plus, you can't pet him without him biting you.

Another weird thing about my cat, he chews everything. It's like having a new puppy. He literally chews the kids stuffed animals, clothes, shoes, boxes...its is so ridiculous.
  • My husband created our registry for babies r us tonight... and picked up some clearance onesies. Yay for sales.
  • We lost power last night due to some strong winds and rain. DH had to restart the generator approximately 5 times within the four hours it had to run. And the last time one of the phases went out so it was only powering half the house. Which meant the monitor upstairs wasn't on so I had to sleep in the spare room in case DS woke up crying at all. I got maybe 6 hours of sleep and with frist tri I've needed at least 8 hours to function. It's going to be a long day.

@emeraldcity603 we used to have a cat that would play bite all the time. You couldn't pet her without getting bit  at least a little. But she would bite me really soft and then practically chew DH's fingers/arms off. She was selective about who she bit very hard I guess. I always thought it was hilarious.
But, I've never heard of a cat chewing things before. That's interesting to me!
  • @runyogamom I think he is teething. He got an abscess because he lost a tooth and it got stuck in his jaw bone. That was a $1000 surgery.

    Sorry about the rough night.
  • @emeraldcity603 I almost asked if he was possibly teething. My cat never grew out of it though. IDK if she really liked us very much though either...
And wow that's a lot of money for surgery! :hushed:
  • I switched prenatals yesterday (was originally using up the ones I had left over from last pregnancy, since this was unexpected). This one is both the prenatal and the DHA supplement. I also have gas (thanks, first trimester). Every time I burp, all I can taste is fish. 🤢

  • Woke up this morning to a loud boom.  Thought it was thunder before realizing it was a car accident.  Someone was coming down the road, lost control of the vehicle took out all the neighbors bushes hit the tree at the end of my driveway and somehow ended up up in my driveway hitting my new (to us) van.   :(  Luckily van doesn't seem to have much damage but will need to replace two carseats.  Thankful for the little damage to the van and that it wasn't my house!!  Still such an inconvenience... i hope the kid is alright but i'm allowed to be annoyed, right?!
  • @misspai66 how scary!  Glad it didn't have too much damage!
  • @misspai66 glad there wasn't much damage but that's a bummer about your van and carseats.

General question, to anyone who may know, when you have to replace a carseat due to accident is that covered by your car insurance? Does it depend on your car insurance? I've never thought about this before. Replacing multiple carseats could be pricey!!
  • @ruby696 thanks for answering! good to know if we (hopefully we never do) need it!
  • @runyogamom
i've always heard it depends on your insurance company.

When I talked with mine this morning I told her that I had two car seats that would need replaced and she tried to turn it around saying that it was up to me if I wanted them replaced or not (obviously I do, I just brought it up!) that because the car was parked, nobody in it and it was hit in the back instead of the side that it was up to me whether I would want to replace them and that I will need to talk to the adjuster that comes out.  Hopefully I don't have to fight on this once the ball gets moving with all that but I will if I have to.
  • @misspai66 that is so scary. I'm glad your house is ok. And yes, you get to be annoyed.

@runyogamom he started drooling really bad last week and he ended up having another mouth infection. So he has been on antibiotics. This cat has cost me a fortune. He was a rescue cat too.
  • @misspai66 that is so annoying that they are potentially going to give you the run around. Hopefully the adjuster makes it easier on you.

@emeraldcity603 aww your poor kitty! I hope the antibiotics work and he gets better soon!
  • @misspai66 I know that each car seat company has slightly different rules about minor accidents. You may be well served to call the company or companies to ask for their policy and have them send it to you in writing. If it says any accident, then hopefully they will cover it. Some say that minor damage, fender bender, etc, it is ok. Based on their own crash tests, data, etc. Typically I hear that the carseat companies have great customer service, so hopefully it's a quick call!
  • @misspai66 It will also help if you ask the adjuster to confirm that your insurance company will be responsible if your kid is injured due to using a damaged carseat they refused to replace. Ask for written documentation that they are refusing to replace it.
  • Why did I decide Whataburger would be a good lunch choice?  Now I feel gross.
  • @sparklingdiamond oh man, I miss Whataburger. DH and I already decided that’s the first thing we’re getting when we go to SA later this month for SILs wedding. Land at airport, pick up Whataburger for lunch, THEN go see in laws.
  • @wearyfuzzball, your mom for the win! Seriously, $249 is not small change and the way things have been for us, recently, I probably would have cried if my mom saved us that amount of money too, pregnant or not! Your mom gets major props for that one!

  • @KissMeImScottish She is seriously the best. I mean, she was even before saving us a boatload of money, but this was just the best way to end a crappy week 😂
