@professormama yes insomnia is real. What’s worse is I’m so tired during the day but at night I can’t shut off my brain to actually get some decent sleep. And this 5 day migraine isn’t helping
Sorry to all of those with insomnia! I am not looking forward to that. And @blueberrymomma - I am so sorry for the migraine. I wouldn't wish migraines on my worst enemy.
Today at my OB appointment my OB explained placenta previa by pretending we were the twins and using props and visual aids to act it all out. It was...interesting. But all is good with the babes and I got my flu shot so overall solid.
@professormama for sure. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I’m up for at least an hour if not two afterwards. I’ve found that eating actually helps with that for me, which is weird. I’m keeping a little container of Nilla wafers by my bed now.
@lyse01 I had meant for the cravings thread to be a recipe sharing thread too, but cravings took over 😂 I’d totally jump in on a recipe thread, I’ve been on a roll with cooking lately!
Y’all. Yesterday at work I had a guest question while I’m climbing a ladder and working while pregnant. So many issues with that question. 1) What if I wasn’t even pregnant??? 2) it was a TWO STEP LADDER. 3) I absolutely adore my job, it is the best job I’ve ever had on every front. 3) I have worked jobs where I’m on my feet 7+ hours for my entire adult life. Unless my midwife tells me to stop, I’m not going to stop. 😑😑😑
@sdelg09 was said guest over the age of 60? Times have changed. My elderly FIL constantly gets on me for lifting my children/laundry baskets while in such a "delicate" state. HA
@sdelg09 I wish those people would mind their own business...
I helped a neighbor move his cow/calf herd across the creek and into another paddock today. Him and his hired hand both got kicked, but I managed to avoid it! They don't know I'm pregnant so I was taking care of my belly area myself. Mostly the cattle crossed with no trouble, but some of the babies were only a few days to a week old and had never done it before, so we had to wrangle and carry them across. Those suckers are heavy! My uterus complained a bit but now seems to have settled down.

1) no one but your doctor should tell you how to work when you're pregnant 2) I HATE the "when do you find out what you're having" question. It's the main reason I am getting the early genetic testing done (and being 35). I have always hated feeling like everyone was as anxious as I was to find out...then feeling like I had to tell everyone right away. No. I am more anxious and I get to tell you when I want to. So...this time, we'll know early and not tell people until we are ready!
@mariposa_767s I only told my family this weekend and they are already fighting over what the baby is. I actually heard someone say if it’s a boy to stick it back in till the stem falls off. Wtf?!?
I wish I could convince my DH to go team green just to piss everyone off.
Also my sister is convinced that you need to know to plan/buy things. Insert eye roll.

@sdelg09 I climbed the shelves in our basement (6ft) last week to get my fall decorations down. DH and my mom scolded me but I got tired of waiting for DH to get them for me (I had been asking for over a week) @sheepshepherdess that’s impressive! I get nervous when DS accidentally kicks my stomach, I can’t imagine herding cows
People have been assuming we’re finding our the sex because we did for the last two. So I just tell them I may find out but I’m not telling anyone this time. Probably not true but it’s fun to piss MIL off lol
@BarefootContessa@sheepshepherdess@mariposa_767s@blueberrymomma the guest was definitely at least 60. I smiled and said “I’m doing fine, but thank you.” I was more frustrated that this woman snuck behind me while I didn’t even have two feet on the ground, because she did spook me a bit. What if I had fallen down? At any rate, I do admit that working is exhausting while pregnant, but that’s mostly because I can’t take naps on work days!
@thatbaintforbetty Wow on the stick it back in comment. I don't even know what to do with that.
I have been asked a lot if I know what "gender" it is. I reply no and that I don't really care, which usually blows their minds. We're buying boy stuff, girl stuff, and gender neutral stuff and whatever it is it can wear and play with it all. It's a baby...
I said with the first one that I mostly cared if it was a ginger (like DH...also my family fields ginger vs non-ginger soccer teams), which no ultrasound could tell me and which could definitely eliminate pink from the wardrobe.
DD is 1.5 and we still discuss whether or not she’s a ginger, and MIL buys a sickening amount of pink.
@lyse01 I always wonder if my kids will have red hair. There’s red hair on DHs family and it has a habit of skipping generations. His great grandpa and some of his cousins are red headed and his brother has a reddish beard.
@blueberrymomma DH’s parents are both natural redheads, my brother has a red beard, my parents both have blond siblings and nieces/nephews with red hair (closer to strawberry, duller on dad’s side) when their sib married into a family with red hair, my grandfather’s brother married a Swedish redhead and there are plenty of bright reds (DH’s color) among his grandchildren.
Anyway, in my family at least, it appears you need both sides to have red for it to carry through. In DH’s family, his cousin has two half Italian, half black children with red afros so yeah, that red gene trumps everything.
Well I’m sorry so many of you have insomnia too, but I’m glad I’m not the only one. It’s ridiculous, I’m exhausted doing to day but wide awake at 3am 🙄
it’s POURING rain here. By the time I walked from the distant lot where I parked to my office, I was totally soaked through even with my umbrella. Very wet booties while teaching today. Definitely hanging out barefoot in my office.
@lyse01 I want a ginger so bad, hahaha. I’m super Irish but I only have natural red highlights in my hair. DH is Italian/German/Native American and while he occasionally gets red hairs in his beard I have given up hope of ever getting a ginger child.

On a different note, I would REALLY like additional drive through options. Or for it to be more culturally acceptable to leave my napping child in the car (obviously, taking safety precautions like leaving windows open and/or a/c on) while I run into to pick up food. I am currently starving and my options are McDonalds or Dunkin or Dunkin (a tenth of a mile away from each other on opposite sides of an interstate exit).
I have had a tension headache for over 36 hours and nothing has worked. I've tried Tylenol, sleep, heat, and ice. I can barely function at work it hurts so bad. Anyone else have any ideas that I haven't thought of? If it doesn't go away, I plan on calling in tomorrow because I can't do this again.
@lyse01 I get it!!! There are so many times I just need to run in somewhere for 30 seconds but would never leave my kids in the car because someone would call the cops and/or smash the windows. I remember being left in a car all the time and I lived haha. Thoughts tough.
@mrstmoose I'm so sorry. I don't have any suggestions but I feel your pain. Chiro and acupuncture are supposed to be super helpful.

@mermaidca & @lyse01 DS (3.5) has been telling me that I can leave him home alone "Because I'm really brave! I won't be scared!" so that means I can totally start leaving him in the car, right?!
@lyse01@mermaidca I make a point never to go to the gas station if I’m paying with cash if it’s just me and DD because it’s way too much hassle to get her out to walk inside hand somebody money and walk out. I’m very thankful my bank has a drive through atm too.

I just realized that I haven’t seen a few familiar people around the boards for a bit. For some reason, this is worrying me. I hope it’s just usual life stuff/being busy.
@sdelg09 I'm hoping that it's nothing. I know I've been quiet this week based on a few things going on at home but pregnancy wise things are still going smoothly.
I hate hearing about all the insomnia! Pregnancy is exhausting enough without throwing no sleep on top of that. I use sleep stories to help get me to sleep otherwise I don't know if I would be able to fall asleep at night either. Anything you noticed that has worked for you guys? Sleep stories, sound machines, etc? Exhaustion is killer.
@mrstmoose have you tried putting the ice pack on the back of your neck? That doesn't completely make mine go away but it does help lessen them a bit.

See my more detailed response in the Week 3 check-in but: CAFFEINE!
@mrstmoose, I feel you. I think I've had a headache every single day this pregnancy, and sometimes into full-blown splitting migraines. My doctor suggested Excedrin Tension because it has a little caffeine in it (and doesn't contain ibuprofen or aspirin). Caffeine doesn't help me, usually I alternate ibuprofen and tylenol but obviously that's a no go now. Let me know if you find any relief! A dark, quiet room is usually what I have to do.
ALSO: I’m more than likely going to change my username due to privacy concerns. It is way, WAY too close to my email account and my former Instagram name and I have done plenty of trash talking about my SIL on here. I’ll still be Jabba and hopefully y’all remember me 😂
ETA: changed. Based on a silly nickname from DH. I’m happy with it and I feel confident that it is unidentifiable!
@kangstadt and @mrstmoose ugh those migraines sound brutal. Does aspirin help at all? Im on baby aspirin for my blood pressure and it does help with mild headaches. I wonder if a full size one would be safe and help at least more than Tylenol?
You guys! I was actually HUNGRY all day today! And I ate meat without gagging at dinner! And then I was hungry for ice cream! I’m so, so happy to have an appetite again. Last pregnancy I was nauseated through 20 weeks and barely ever gained weight. I’m feeling so hopeful that this one will be better.
@kangstadt I don’t know if full size aspirin is allowed, but it’s definitely worth checking on. I take 2 baby aspirin every night on docs orders, so I know at least that’s allowed. Cant hurt to ask the doc or nurse.
Thanks, @professormama, I definitely will ask at my next checkup. These migraines are killing me. I work with kids, and the noise level by the end of the night is torture.

@professormama do you think taking an Unisom or even a half tab would help? I've slept great since I started taking them (my OB says they are safe).
