  • @Hollyyyyy Fingers crossed for your GD test! My results took two days I think. Yea, my husband told me to stop it haha. They're are definitely a number of them that are not in the normal range so we'll see what next steps are.
  • @mamajudec2018 I hope you get clarification and that your urine results are good.
@Hollyyyyy good luck with your GD test!
  • @katy0990 @CecilB93 Thank you!

    @CecilB93 Yay getting so close!!!!
  • @mamajudec2018 @katy0990 Thank you!

@CecilB93 Eeee we really are getting so close to the end! I can't believe it. So crazy/exciting/scary, and everything in between. Hope your appointments go well this week!

    @hannelorre Good luck on Tuesday
  • I have my midwife appt on Tuesday. Finally I get to find out GD results and iron levels (I assume they would have called if it were bad news though).

We haven’t really discussed birth wishes but it’s time now, I have many questions about hospital policies, etc.

Everyone that has an OB, how long are your appointments usually?
  • @desiree113 Actual time spent with the OB: maybe 5-10 minutes. The wait is a lot longer though...an hour plus if he’s very behind. :/

  • @Desiree113 I ask a lot of questions, so I’m probably with the OB for 15-20 minutes, but at the office for 45 min-1 hour.
  • So DH and I got to my appointment at about 7:50, I was thinking it was at 8 or 8:15...apparently the office doesn't even open until 8:30...oops

  • @CecilB93  I think you get major points for being early. I’m typically running in right on time or 2 minutes late.
  • I have an appointment tomorrow. I plan on seeing my doc every 3-4 weeks still if she is okay with it (she told me she would be okay with every 3 weeks). I refuse to believe I’m in the third trimester already. I’m a weirdo and want time to slow down. I also expect to get some immunizations tomorrow.

Same! My OB never makes me feel rushed, and is cool talking things out. My problem is that I forget things, so I need to have my questions written before I see him. After hearing FHR my brain turns to mush.

  • @echo-charlietango  I tend to be forgetful too, so I started putting them in my notes app. I feel like a student with my little list of questions haha
@kadeephd  I would not worry too much about it.  Last time, mine was sprung on me last minute because of some complications we discovered. I had eaten lots of sweets the day before and ate waffles for breakfast that morning and I still passed.
@hoosiermama-2 Good luck with the GD education!
  • @hoosiermama-2 I hope you feel more encouraged after the GD educational class! I know it helped me so much!
  • @katy0990 well we dropped DS at daycare around 7:30 (already "late" compared to his normal drop off time, but breakfast is around 8) and it's closer to the hospital than our house, so we went straight there. Usually I'm the same as you, running in right at appointment time lol.

@hoosiermama-2 my education was a group setting as well, three of us attended. Still ask as many questions as you have! Hope you feel better about things afterwards!

@kadeephd I don't remember your time zone, it's 2:13 here...but if you're behind me, definitely go for something low carb for lunch. If you eat/ate an hour or two before it shouldn't really have much baring on your test results, but it definitely helps to go for low carb! Good luck!!

  • @CecilB93 @katy0990 I had low carb veggie lasagna (very few noodles) and a glass of milk about 45 minutes prior to drinking the glucola.  We'll see how it goes!  I tend towards low blood sugar when not pregnant so I'm hoping my body did ok.

@katy0990 I had a list of questions on my phone this time too.

  • Lately I've set myself a goal to get in and out as quickly as possible, so I only see my doctor for maybe 5 minutes & spend an hour or so in the clinic total.

I have my 30 week appointment on Thursday. I'll have her write me a prescription for a breast pump & talk with her a bit about epidurals since I didn't love my experience with it last time & hopefully be out the door. I had to settle for an afternoon appointment so I bet I'll have a big weight gain from last time  :#

  • @temmetime I hate afternoon weigh-ins! I take off my shoes and everything.
  • @katy0990 I've been taking my shoes off for my morning appointments so maybe I should weigh with them on this time so my next morning appointment will feel light :D

  • I have a regular check up tomorrow and they want me to get a shot - think it’s the tdap, can’t remember. At this point I have no idea who will deliver this baby all I know is what hospital I’ll be at. I feel like I should figure that out? At my very first appt confirming pregnancy they gave me a ton of info about classes for birth and Mothers. I haven’t done a single thing and I don’t really plan to. One - I literally don’t have the time, DH thinks it’s a waste of time and money but then I feel overwhelmed and guilty. Not sure what I’ll end up doing but I feel like time is running out! Also I have a dentist appt Thursday - thankfully they did my X-rays in March about the time I conceived.
  • @countrygirl624 what @katy0990 said. Unless you've got a scheduled induction or c-section, you'll likely get whoever is on call. That's why they have you rotate doctors, so you can meet everyone before the delivery room. Last time the midwife that delivered my son wasn't the one I regularly saw, I think I actually saw her only one time. This time I think my OB will be present since I'll have an induction and I'm GD. If I go into labor naturally though I'm not sure how that works. She said we'll discuss things these next few weeks since I'm at the point of appointments every two weeks

  • @katy0990 and @CecilB93 I think you are both right!! That makes sense! Thanks!
  • @countrygirl624 Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but I'm always pro-information-overload. If it'll ease your guilt and feeling of being overwhelmed sign up for a fast-track class, a 3-4 crash course on newborn care and birth or something like that. If H doesn't want to go, take a friend or mom.
If you can make time to read before bed, find a copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting (digital or physical copy from your library) and skip to the end-ish of the book where it covers labor, delivery & newborn care.

The awesome thing is you guys will figure it out no matter what!
  • @hoosiermama-2 I have been doing a ton of reading throughout this pregnancy and will definitely continue to do so. There’s a class at the hospital that’s a whole Saturday 9-3 for $80 ... just have mixed feelings about it.
  • @flamingomomma oh no! I'm sure in your situation it was definitely stress related, but that's scary stuff and does nothing to ease your stress. Glad you were sent to labor and delivery for monitoring and that they gave you a shot to stop contractions. Hopefully that's the end of that. Try to relax a bit while you're in the hospital if you can.
  • See! You're more prepared than what you give yourself credit for. You got this.
  • @countrygirl624 If you are worried about the birth process or have questions about your hospital’s policies, I would highly recommend taking a childbirth class. If you plan to breastfeed, the class can be helpful, especially if you or your H have not been around many bfing moms. We took an infant care class to learn infant CPR, which we found helpful, but other than that the class wasn’t too informative, but I have been around lots of infants.
@flamingomomma I’m so glad they were able to stop the labor. How are you feeling now? How are things at home?
  • @flamingomomma I hope you're feeling better!

I failed my 1 hr GD test so now have to schedule a 3 hour test... wah wah.
  • @hoosiermama-2 How did your GD education go?
