***READ THIS FIRST*** Board Organization

I stole this from previous BMBs.  Full of great info! We can update down the road if we want!

Some links that you may find helpful:
What do all of those abbreviations mean?
How to add a signature
How to GIF

How-To Guides:
-How to quote: Hit the "quote" at the bottom of the post you want to quote. You will be taken to the reply box with the quote set up already.
-How to tag: Add an "@" in front of the username of the person you are talking to.
-How to change your username: log in to TheKnot, hover over My Knot, and click Account Settings. Be sure to log out and log back in after changing your username. If you are having issues doing it that way, you can email community@thebump.com and ask them to change your username. Give them a few suggestions just in case your top choice is taken. It may take up to 24 hours for the name to update.
-How to insert a spoiler box: click the drop down list arrow next to the paragraph symbol (sixth from the left, next to the emoji button) and choose spoiler. It will insert a grey box, and everything that you type in there will go into the spoiler.

For the sake of board organization, here are some simple guidelines for posting threads:
DO: -Introduce yourself in the "Introductions" thread
-Feel free to start one of the weekly posts listed below if you don't see it started yet
-Check to see if a thread has already been started on your topic or question so we can avoid too many threads of the same topic
-Post a thread that would apply to the entire community and doesn't fall into one of the categories for daily threads listed below (Ex: what to pack in your hospital bag, baby gear, etc)
-Comment, share advice and show support for your fellow bumpies; this is a two-way street, to get support, you must show it as well

 DON'T:
-Ask the community if you are pregnant, it is against TOU
-Post pictures of your pregnancy test, this is also against TOU (there is a thread on the open 1st tri page for this)
-Post a thread that asks a question only applying to yourself unless you suspect you may be going through a MC
-Get bent out of shape if someone calls you out for not following these guidelines; if you expect to be part of a supportive board (which we are), you need to be able to take the time to learn the ins and outs of the board.

Here are some weekly/monthly ideas that may be good to start with. We can always add to best suit our boards needs, so please let me know if you have any other ideas! Per this BMB's decision, anyone can start any thread on the day.

*We can also look into getting a spreadsheet going down the road when everyone gets more comfortable.

Once we all get farther along, we will also have pinned threads for things like ultrasounds, sex announcements and birth announcements. I've copy/pasted this from previous boards, and it seems to be the way that they are all organized, but of course we should feel free to tweak for our needs! For example, some boards do weekly ticker changes while others do weekly due date check-ins (ex, DD 1st week of Nov.). If anyone has a suggestion for other threads, please feel free to comment a suggestion. PLEASE keep in mind that there will eventually be a lot of us on this board, and an organized board will be much easier for everyone to use. If we can all keep the one-off posts to a minimum the board won't be too cluttered to navigate, and hopefully we won't end up answering the same question 2,000 times.

  • I think both those threads sound great! I am also hoping to gain less this time around!
  • @poshspice I saw they were doing that as well and it seems like a nice way to get to know some of the ladies who will be having their babies around the same time.  I had a hard time really relating to some of the girls when we were doing ticker changes because they were due so much later than I was...if anything I was a bit jealous at times when I was carrying the "watermelon" and they were still just at "papaya"...  :D  I like the idea of team names eventually as the groups get going too. The titles can really become cumbersome otherwise.
  • @poshspice I love that idea! Totally down for that if others are!

  • @MaggieG183 I was behind on my check-ins with no one else on the same week as me, and it was tough! I think groupings that will hit milestones (NT, A/S, trimesters, viability, birth, etc) at the same time will help people feel more supported/camaraderie.

@zuuls_mom of course I'm happy to go along with whatever the majority decides (but I hope it's check-ins by due date! haha).

  • I do like those ideas
  • So would it be like May 1 - 7 would be one group and May 8-14 a second group? I like that idea much better than the ticker one.
  • @MaggieG183 We did a Meal Plan Monday on my last BMB and it worked out great! It really helped us stay accountable to actually cooking during the week.

@poshspice I'm down for the weekly instead of ticker change idea. Makes more sense to me too. I didn't see a FTM and STM check-in thread in the list... those were fun in my last board, but we can see what people want to do!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Oh! And on my last board we had a cloth diapering 101 stickied post. It was only a small group of ladies (maybe 15?) who participated but it was helpful it was stickied because then we didn’t have to dig when we had questions for each other. I’d like to take a poll of the ladies in a couple months when we’re more established to see if that’s of interest to anyone. Would you all be ok with the “sticky” aspect to it?
  • @MaggieG183 I love the ideas of fitness check in and meal planning threads! I’m hoping to keep on track much better with this pregnancy than with my first.

@poshspice I think groupings like that would be a great way keep up with progress along the way!

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

    Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers

    Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers

    PitaPata Dog tickers

  • @MaggieG183 we cloth diaper so I’m on board with that idea too!
  • I would much prefer the week check ins over the ticker changes as well! I want to get to know moms around my due date!

I would love a first time mom and cloth diapering threads!

  • Love all these updates! I will make the changes once I’m at a computer. Also, whoever wants to start the new threads, go for it! I’m so excited to get to know everyone!

  • @maggieG183 I like a cloth diapering thread!

I also would want Week 1, 2 etc check-ins  instead of a weekly ticker.
  • @poshspice I like the due date check idea can I be on the green monkeys haha!
  • Do BMB still do a UO thread?

Also, totally in agreement about due date/ticker change check in.

  • @ellie-marie yup! That's how the groupings would go. I think it makes sense to call them Group 1, Group 2, etc until people pick team names.

@secicc12 I noticed the FTM and STM+ checkins were missing from the list as well. I think it would be great to add those. Thoughts, @zuuls_mom

@troystory17<3 you for getting my reference!!  :D

I just wanted to add another vote for the Fit Friday thread, I am in need of accountability
  • @sparrowsnest22 I will add right now! Totally missed that one. Sorry!

  • @zuuls_mom thank you!! Just saw that my comment never fully posted, so it looks kind of weird. I meant to say that I am in need of accountability, would love to have a somewhat fit pregnancy so that recovery is easier.
  • @poshspice I think so! It seems popular!
  • @poshspice yes, seems like there's consensus. The weekend tickers were always slow and my week day only had 5 people who actively posted so it wasn't really fun - especially when others had 20 or so. The week ranges should mitigate much of that, I think.

My Aug '17 Group also had a Weekly GTKY (Get to Know You) thread. There are usually ones in the individual week (or ticker change depending on the format) mini groups but this way the whole group also has one to participate in to get to know others outside of your EDD range. Although I don't think we had a Ten Things Tuesday so maybe that's enough. Don't want to create too much clutter.

  • @kvh22 I like the idea of a Weekly GTKY for the whole group.

I'd like to propose that the Weekly check-ins for all groups be posted every Monday. I think that would make sense. Maybe the STM+ and FTM check-ins can be posted another day of the week so it's not overwhelming? Wednesday or something?

  • Tuesday or Wednesday would make sense since May 1 is a Wednesday and there's less going on on those days already.

I know they don't have their BFPs yet, but those due those last 3 days of May might make more sense to combine  with the previous week instead of having them as their own, much smaller group. I haven't stalked other BMBs to see what they did but having such a small group for my ticker was disappointing and I imagine they'd feel the same way.

  • @kvh22 definitely agree with not making an unnecessarily small group. We could do: 1-7, 8-14, 15-21, 22-31. But that does make Group 4 pretty big. Or we could do: 1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-31 to make the groups more even, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • @poshspice What if we do 1-8, 9-16, 15-22, 23-31? So add one day to the first week and two to the last week? Idk. Input, ladies? One thing that was interesting about my last BMB was we were super heavy on due dates early in the month and light later in the month so your original proposition would've worked well there. Not sure how ours will shape up here.

    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Baby Tracker

  • @kvh22 I like that. I agree our last board was very date heavy. The check ins also seemed to die down after a while. Or that might have been the FTM/STM threads. It felt like we were repeating the same updates. We can see how this board runs though!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Maybe an infertility board check in if we have enough that move over here.
  • @kvh22 I second that idea! I think that will distribute the due dates as evenly as possible.

I was thinking, how about we do the week check ins on Monday, FTM and STM check ins on Tuesday, the cloth diapering could just be a single thread for questions/advice (unless you think we'd need a monthly thread?), and we could do GTKY on Saturday? Seems like that would spread the traffic out through the week. Just my thoughts :) what do you guys think?

Also, if a thread seems to be dying out, we can always switch it to a monthly one as need.
  • @sagems10 totally agree that the cloth diapering thread doesn’t need to be weekly or monthly even. My whole thought was have one but to have it stickied so it wouldn’t disappear or we didn’t have to search forever to find it.

I agree with the check in for weekly due dates (Monday is great because it might get us all going first thing after the weekend too) and then the FTM and STM be on a different day.
  • @MaggieG183 one stickied thread for cloth diapering sounds good to me!
  • Do we have a spreadsheet?  I saw “add yourself to the spreadsheet” but I couldn’t find one, haha
