Had my scan this morning- I also have anterior placenta. Baby was moving a ton which was reassuring because like others I’ve hardly felt baby!
We also found out baby is a girl! DD1 was hoping for a brother so we will see how she reacts when we tell her tonight!
The only abnormal thing was an echo in the heart which slightly increases chances of having Down syndrome (from 1/275 to 1.8/275); we won’t be doing any other testing so will just wait and see. DH isn’t nervous but made me a bit nervous, trying not to google.
@kmos816 My baby also has an echogenic focus in the left ventricle of the heart which was seen at my A/S. It's actually more common than you'd think. The majority of the time it means nothing and has disappeared by the follow up scan if your doctor suggests one. It can mean an increased risk of DS but just on its own in the absence of other markers, it's not a reliable indicator. My DS had the exact same thing and the spot was gone in 4 weeks when they had another look. He's completely healthy. I wouldn't give much thought to it!

U/S 19May - one bean measuring on track with a HB of 125! EDD: 07Jan2019 Team Green My Rainbow Baby Boy born 03Jan2019
Re: anterior placenta- this is my second pregnancy and second anterior placenta- They always say that second time moms feel the baby much sooner but I didn’t really start feeling anything until about a week ago (I’m 20.5w now) and it’s very infrequent (1-3x/day). AS showed a very active baby - and the doc has even said the kid is kicking around when they try to get the hb at a regular appt - but I couldn’t feel any of that. I know the movement can be very reassuring for a lot of people but I got irritated w it pretty quickly last time. If you get a strong mover the kicks and punches can be painful and very distracting.
I find the movements VERY distracting. I am happy shes moving and i want her to do whatever she needs to be doing in there, but when she starts doing her thing I'll be like: what set her off?? lol or wonder if shes annoyed by something. Then she changed her sleep/dance fever patterns and i found my self trying to wake her up in the middle of the night just to make sure she ok, woke her and then had to lay awake while she did her thing.

I had to do a fetal heart scan (because its an IVF pregnancy) and they told me lots of babies have mild heart anomalies at this point that end up going away entirely by birth. Hopefully that's the case for you.
Anatomy scan 8/27/18 at 18w4d. Results unremarkable measuring at 18w3d and appears that we're have girl #2. Low laying and posterior placenta which would explain why I've felt movement starting at 10w. I work as an RN in ICU on nights, so on slow days we've played around with the US machine & this LO is fiesty.
Scan went great today! Everything is healthy and on track.
We managed to remain Team Green, and I’m glad because LO had his/her legs crossed in a pretzel shape almost the whole time so if we had wanted to find out we might have been very disappointed!
I go back for another US at 28 weeks because they will want to check on growth due to my high blood pressure issues. No concerns today on baby’s growth so I guess it’s just a precaution and I should try to just be excited to get another peek at baby rather than worry about what ifs.
I had my scan yesterday. We expected something may be slightly off due to bleeding throughout the pregnancy, but I've had that with my others so we weren't too concerned. We learned I have a partial placental abruption and polyhydraminos. So. Lots of monitoring, praying and finger crossing in our future, along with pelvic rest, modified bedrest and no lifting over 5lbs. With 4 kids at home it will be interesting but I'm determined to do whatever I can to keep the little one growing!

@LauraK33 I'm not sure what that second term of polyhydraminos means but good luck! I hope you have family/ friends that can help if needed. Anything unexpected during pregnancy is scary.
@LauraK33 I'm sorry you have to deal with all of that. All the luck to you. Are your other kids old enough to help out more?
I had my 20 week scan today. Baby is measuring right on track. Except he couldn't tell if there was a small hole in the heart or if it was a shadow or what not . Now I have to go see a pediatric cardiologist. I also was told I have 2 more ultrasounds with the perinatal OB and yesterday with my regular OB I found out that starting at 34 weeks I have to go to the hospital once a week for extra testing! All because I'm 36. This is going to be one expensive little dude.
Baby boy was covering his face the whole time but it was still super adorable and I could count his perfect little fingers.
@ersh1010 thanks for the good luck vibes poly hydraminos means too much amniotic fluid...it could be indictitive of something wrong with baby (swallowing, kidneys, etc), or it could just happen. We will have more follow-up tests to figure it out!

@LauraK33 Sorry you have to deal with that! Even though you said you were expecting something was off, it can't be any easier to hear about potential complications. Hoping that you have an uneventful second half of your pregnancy!
We had what was basically an anatomy scan before our amnio a couple weeks ago, but I didn’t feel comfortable really talking about it while we waited for results. Those are in now and great, so I’ll say that everything in the scan looked great! It was definitely early for an anatomy scan and baby (BOY) was moving around a bunch, but they were able to get views on everything that were good enough for them to say that everything looks great!
At the MFM’s suggestion, seconded by OB), we moved my actual anatomy scan back to 22 weeks. I believe MFM put instructions on for them to measure the heart a little extra, but she also said that what she saw looks good and she’s not at all concerned. More of a “might as well if they’re going to be doing the scans anyway” kind of thing.
It did take over an hour though since he was moving around so much!

We had ours yesterday and it was great I was very nervous. We found out that baby is heathy and we are having a GIRL! So excited.
She was in a transverse position (lounging across the belly) and also crossing her legs which gave the tech quite the time getting all of the necessary images. All was good though. She couldn’t get great images of the spine, all heart pics, or a great one of the genitalia but was pretty sure we had a girl. She brought the doc in to try her luck at getting baby to move and she was able to get good images of everything (including an unmistakable girl “3” when baby uncrossed her legs a bit) except a couple heart ones, so I’ll go back in a month for those. No one is worried though, it was just the position. Also I found out I have an anterior placenta, which was a surprise as I have been feeling movements consistently all on the very low part of the belly though so maybe the placenta is above there.
I’m a FTM at 22 weeks due January 1. I’ve had 2 attempts at my anatomy scan now first on aug 20th and a second one today. Apparently both times baby was in a shy position so technician is saying they can’t see everything they need to see, without mentioning any specifics. They showed me the heart, head, the stomach, eyes and all baby’s limbs. But for some reason I’m still nervous. Both appointments were about an hour long and today they tried both abdominal and transvaginal scan. After all that they want me to come back next thurs for a follow up scan. Luckily I have my midwife appointment this Tuesday and hopefully they can give me more details on what’s going on (ease my mind). The heart was pumping and I can still feel baby squirming about so that should be reassuring... I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m just overreacting.
@julesf817 I know I’m late but I have two very good friends from the bump who had SUA with their first pregnancies and they both have healthy 1.5+ year olds now!
@LauraK33 I’m so sorry for the added stress! Thinking of your family.
@merostomata My DD was also transverse on her back and basically impossible to get some pictures of. I also have to go back in a month. I think they were only missing 4 things but they also said that some pictures they did get just weren’t clear. It made me a little nervous but it’s reassuring to read that it happens!

@BitterBetty12 too bad our babies don’t realize when there’s an important scan to take I’m sure your DD is totally fine, but I am with you and wish they could have got everything then just to make 100% sure. The tech said transverse was pretty much the hardest position to take pictures of, and she had to try multiple times (and get me to roll around a lot) before getting acceptable pics of certain organs. Hopefully they’ll be in a more cooperative position next time around!
Had our scan on Friday. Confirmed that it’s a girl and everything looks great! My doctor told me my cervix is “a mile long” lol She assured me it was a good thing but it made me laugh!
Had our scan Friday. Confirmed we are having a boy! Baby wouldnt cooperate and let us see his face, so i go back in 2 weeks for another US. But we were able to get measurements on everything else and checked all his organs and everything looks good! My placenta is low, so i also have to go back at 28 weeks. So 2 more bonus ultrasounds!
Also just found it interesting that a lot of the stuff i read online says you should have a full bladder for the anatomy scan but my tech had me empty mine and said it works better empty.
@alannac1 I've had a many ultrasounds and not one has ever said anything about my bladder whether full or empty. I've also been curious about that advice I've seen online and where it came from!
With mine they had me start out with a full bladder, then use the restroom halfway through. Maybe it's so they have that as an option to reposition the baby if s/he's in a bad position for the scan?
Also just found it interesting that a lot of the stuff i read online says you should have a full bladder for the anatomy scan but my tech had me empty mine and said it works better empty.
They always had me empty my bladder right before my ultrasounds during my last pregnancy. They were all done at a perinatal center, so I don’t know if that makes a difference.
I was always told full bladder makes for a clearer picture abdominally prior to 22 weeks. After 22 weeks baby is big enough that it apparently doesn’t make any difference. Who knows!

Just got home from my full anatomy scan. Perfect little girl. She’s wasnt cooperating for the tech so we almost had to come back, but decided to move for the dr. Back in 8 weeks for a growth scan
I had my anatomy scan and it's a boy! He's already measuring about a week ahead, with the abdomen two weeks ahead so it's looking like he could end up really big. Hopefully my OB won't be too worried and move up my induction or push for a C-section. I don't find out the other results until my next appt on 9/20 unless they call me.
ETA: They did post the report on my online portal and they said that the "remainder of anatomical survey in unremarkable" so that sounds good. On the other hand the baby is measuring "large for dates" at 98% with the abdomen at 92% so the OB won't be thrilled about that.

Sounds like we had very similar scans! The tech was also pretty sure we were having a girl, she gave the note to my hubby right before we left and he was also pretty confident he saw a "hamburger" not a "hot dog". My lo was curled up in a ball with her arms up by her face, and because of her position they couldn't get a good picture of her spine. It sounded like everything else looked ok despite it taking forever to see most of what they needed to see. The tech said my doc would probably ask me to come back in 10-14 days so I was a little frustrated that my doc told me in 3 weeks when I have my next appt she would then put in an order for the ultrasound. Could be another 2-3 weeks to get in to ultrasound after that. my placenta is also anterior, which I think I had with my last one too. Hope your follow up goes good!
Glad it went well @VallieS86! Sorry they couldn't get all of the images, but it sounds like she'll be just fine Honestly I'm not too sad about having to go back, it's another excuse to see the baby- and also give extra confirmation that she is in fact a girl! My next US isn't going to be until the first week of October either, so I feel you on the wait. I'm curious how much she'll grow between now and then!

Yeah, it'll be nice to get some more pics. Just kind of makes you a little nervous when they're just so nonchalant about it but say they didn't get the pics they need. Guess baby girl is comfy in there though, curled up in her little ball. I bet they'll both grow quite a bit in the next 4 weeks. (Yours and mine) and yeah I'd like the extra confirmation of girl, even though we've already announced to everyone that it's a girl lol
I was having a lot of anxiety leading up to our anatomy scan, and it didn't help that they had to reschedule for a week later. We finally had our scan yesterday and everything looks good. DD is getting a baby sister!
Just had my anatomy scan today right at 20 weeks. Baby boy was SO over all the pressure tech was putting on him to get detailed shots. He had his hands over his face covering nose and mouth so tech had to shake my tummy a bit w the wand or whatever you call it. Then she wanted to measure his lower half of the body but of course he had his legs crossed. She told me to flip to one side really quickly to get him to switch positions and voila! There it was, the classic crotch shot. Towards the end, he got the hiccups and had his hand on his forehead like “oh my gosh, let’s please be done here already.” Pic in spoiler - tech had a sense of humor.
I found out today that I have anterior placenta. Bc of my hx of preterm labor, I go back to be seen by MFM in 4 weeks. I had a feeling these kicks were muted or muffled compared to DD at this point.
Had my anatomy scan on Wednesday - Its a girl!! She is sitting transverse right now - so head and butt going across my belly instead of up and down. The tech said that is nothing to worry about at this point, still plenty of time for her to reposition. They weren't able to get all of the shots that they needed because she had both her arms and her legs crossed over her face - Lol. She was waving her arms all over the place. They had to have me roll on my side to get some of the shots. So I get to go back in 3 weeks for some more pictures. Everything looks "perfectly unremarkable - in the best the best way possible". :-P I'll take it!
@Rachel2066 it's hard not to worry about position, but it really really is early in that regard. DD didn't flip head down until like 34 weeks, and pretty much just chilled transverse until then!

Had my anatomy scan on Wednesday. Found out it's a boy! Which is what I thought it would be. This will be our second boy. Tech didnt say anything else really.
My Doctor's receptionist called today and Doctor wants to see me on Monday he got the results and the placenta is over my cervix. Said baby looks great and they didn't want me to worry over the weekend. I wasn't worried until they called me, and of course I went on Google. Looks like as my uterus gets bigger it could 'move' so I will hope for that and try not to worry in the meantime.
It’s a boy! Due 1/28/19 joining big sister who will be 3 on Thanksgiving!
Placenta is in between baby and my exterior stomach so I haven’t felt hardly any movement. My daughters placenta was on my back side so I get her all day everyday since 14 weeks.
Finally had my anatomy scan today! Baby is a boy! I’m excited for DS to have a brother.
Everything looked great in the scan, except baby was lying on his back, and the tech couldn’t get a good shot of his spine. She kept shaking the wand on my belly to get him to move, but he wasn’t cooperating. I’ll have another ultrasound to look at the spine at my next appointment. Though both the tech and my dr says it looks fine as far as they can tell.
Thrilled to have a healthy baby!
