We only have 15 people in my FB bump group, so I have no idea how the logistics would work with more people! I'll most definitely defer to y'alls judgement!
As for craziws, I think it's the risk you run joining any community; online or IRL.
I'm open to using another platform, but I'm definitely a dunce when it comes to apps/websites and technology in general, so I have no input on anything other than facebook. I'm on it a lot already and find it user friendly, so my vote goes there, but I'm totally open for other platforms as long as they're user friendly. I feel like the bump app was so much better my last pregnancy, but this time I'm having so many issues! So anything other than the bump is better lol.
When my last BMB moved we voted about 4 moderators in charge and they used they're judgement on who to invite to FB. I think the deal was that if it wasn't unanimous then there was a poll started in the facebook group among those who were already unanimously voted in. I want to say we started around 75 members and we're down to about 67 now. Stragglers fell out and left and we only had to boot one person because we didn't feel comfortable with them after the move. It was put to a vote after a few members expressed apprehension when she posted looking for donations for her church mission about 2 weeks after the migration, so nothing crazy, just some red flags.
As far as checking back in after we move, I checked in here and there to my O16 group but I'll be honest, most of us just stuck to the facebook group. We had a few "ambassadors" checking in to TB to see if there was anyone needing support here and there and seeing what was up. I would have liked to have checked in more, but FB became so much easier and life got busy.
I think 1-2 months out is a good time to move, so we can get comfortable with a new platform before new babies come out - mid-November sounds good to me.
I'm 60 percent for Slack, and 40 percent for Facebook. I just don't like FB and avoid it as much as possible (but keep it because the grandparents love it...even though DH and I only post sparingly). DH uses #Slack for work and loves it, I would like to give it a go

Idk anything about slack but tbh I won’t be as active on another platform other than Facebook. I’m on there for Etsy stuff and my other bmb so it’s easiest for me to participate there.
Same here (minus the Etsy part). I have a hard enough time keeping active here it feels like, I'm on FB way more because of my other BMB and all the sewing groups I'm in, plus just keeping up with family and friends. I would try slack or whatever other platform, but no guarantees I'd stick around or be active daily if it's anywhere other than FBto be honest.
I’m a bit nervous about the switch to Facebook. I feel a lot of moms drop off after a baby is born and then we’re left with such a small group that tends to be close. I worry about moving too soon and having it implode. But of course it’s all based on vote and I’ll decide once the move happens!
if We decide 1-2 months before, can we make that October so that we’re a little settled before the babies start showing up? They will start showing up in November.
Just caught up on this. I also vote 1-2 months before, although this will be my first transition, so what do I know? I also vote for FB just because I am active on a much of different groups there and it would be so much easier than adding in another app.
I vote Facebook because I'm on it all the time & so is my other BMB. We started with maybe 105 people range & 6yrs later still have 80 I remember being super nervous about not being "anonymous" anymore, but we haven't had any real issues. I can't remember when we transitioned exactly, but pretty sure it was after kids were born because I remember reading all the birth stories on here.
I'm always mobile, so I don't participate in a lot of threads, always PGAL, sometimes STM & AMA and others. I'll try to post more. I'm active enough that I recognize almost every screen name that is posted in this thread though
After reading through some of the comments, I realize I'm probably one of those middle of the road people. I do try to participate on here as much as possible, but I'm not the best at keeping up with it, which I apologise for.
I also vote for Facebook though. It's really the only thing I use, but I am willing to try other options if that's what others are more comfortable with. As far as when, I have no preference so I didn't put down a vote for that one.
I vote Facebook. My M15 BMB is there and it works out well and convenience is the key to keeping up. We started off with maybe 125ish people and still have 97. Some left dramatically, others quietly, and others during non-involvement purges. I think we are at a very steady group now. I imagine our group will follow a similar trend.
I'm amazed at the size of some of the FB groups from previous BMBs!! My March 16 board started at 50, we're down to 42 now I think. Luckily we've never had any major drama, so I'm super hopeful this group is the same. We haven't had many issues here though (if at all) so I'm sure this BMB will be fine!
If we migrate pre-baby, I do think we should continue to have some involvement with this board until a couple months post-baby. Postpartum, (at least for me last time) there was a different level of both availability (not at work + on my phone at some point during feedings every 2-3 hrs) and need for support and community. I imagine there might be others in the same boat.
Just just a thought to get this moving a long and for a smooth transition....but echo was able to see who the most active bumpers were for the week, is there anyway to see who the most active have been this whole time. My suggestion would be to start at the top and go down to see if they would be interested in being an admin until you have a solid group of 5 or 6. Then maybe start to organize the group and get the ball roling so we have a nice easy transition. Or is this already happening?
@Katzalia - That's been the trend I've seen. Both boards double dipped until up to six months after or so. I know all of the birth stories, etc were in both locations. It didn't really die down on the boards until after everyone finished their leave. By then the majority of the traffic turned to FB.
there are two motivations in sports, which is yours?
@Jens_Hoes I haven’t been on the desktop version for months. Okay then I nominate you! Lol. I guess I would like to see this get started before the first baby comes!!
@Jens_Hoes - yes, it was the MTV show contacting us. If I remember correctly, Litera claimed that she was just contacted by the show and would do whatever they wanted, but in reality she reached out to the show then basically tried to work it so it was only her and the catfish getting interviewed/screen time. She had done it all without telling anyone but then spilled that it was happening. That's when the show came on and said that was all wrong. I just realized how much more difficult it is to read with so many people that have deleted their accounts, especially some of the major players.

@coybig so I imagine the story went no where? We’re pe pissed at litera? Do you still talk to people from that bmb? Luckily a bunch of people qfp so that made it easier to read
Yeah, MTV did nothing with it. And yes, Litera didn't last much longer. She was in the FB group too, but left shortly after. Nearly all of the sleuthing was done within the FB group to figure everything out. I'm still in the group, so yeah, talk to the group daily.

So in regards to moderators/admins of the facebook group, is someone (more tech savvy than I) able to create a survey where you can add up to 3-5 (whatever we decide) usernames and vote on who you'd like to be admin? I'm not sure what site we did it on last time, but whomever set it up did it so that it wasn't anonymous and people had feelings about seeing who voted for who. I hope that makes sense...

And actually, we could just add everyone, and people could pick their top 5, and then we could see who got the most picks. At least, I'm fairly certain this is possible with SM.
@Jens_Hoes Couldn’t we just name some posters who would be interested and then create a poll with all the names and the top 5 would be the moderators? The only survey site I know of is survey monkey, but I don’t think you are able to nominate and have it tally. I think you have to either have an open ended question or set responses.

Right, we'd have to have set responses, but on the other hand, we could set it up so that people could pick their top 5, instead of just their top one. The polling here only allows you to choose 1 option, I think, which kind of stinks.
I think voting is a really good idea! We could also "nominate" people and compile a list that we could then vote on - but I'm cool with anyone who posts regularly!
I think nominations would be a good idea. I logged into SM to try this out, and I was able to create a survey and limit it so that you can choose up to 5, but just going through this post and adding everyone who responded, it gets big fast. I think if we add too many, it might get overwhelming to choose from...
Also, if I wind up doing the SM, I'm totally adding a question about which platform we should move to, so that we can solve this all at once. I want things settled, LOL
Should we start a new nomination thread? Anyone can nominate and person who is nominated can respond to accept or decline? Since some people nominated may decline and then if they get voted in and don't want to do it, it's a waste of time so we may as well leave them out from the start.

@LLynde5 I think that would be the best way to do it. I like that idea!
I'm not sure there is a way to do that. The list you are speaking of pops up on the side of the desktop site daily.
