@BourbonBiscuits I love me some mint julep! This year we changed it up and added fresh blackberries to the simple syrup instead of mint, and mixed that with crushed ice and Woodford. It was excellent.

I want some mint julip right now. My damn cat just peed on my mattress. Of course I had the mattress protector off long enough to wash it from the last time he did this. So now I have a mattress that smells like cat pee and I have no idea how toget it out. Oh and he pooped on the floor too. Ugh.

DD--Definitely alcohol. We conceived at an all-inclusive in St. Lucia. All-inclusive means I am never without drink in hand. This baby--totally sober, boring, at home, "we only do it on the weekend" sex.

@bellebaby221 , bad kitty! If that were my cat, I'd lose my shit. They have pet neutralizer, that's the only thing that I can think of that may have any hope in helping... pet store should sell. God, I hate the smell of cat piss, I can smell it a mile away.

@bleucheeznwine, ours was similiar... axe weekends, totally planned and trying for 11 mos. H got serious when he was about to go have to get his boys checked, he was like hell no we're making this happen.

This one was the result of a Friday night alone after our sitter took all 3 boys for a sleep over. No alcohol, just a night with no kids. After IVF to have the twins and an IUI for the 3rd one, we were extra shocked that this happened without medical assistance!

This one was conceived after several days of sexing following a positive ovulation test. Boooring!

My first pregnancy was not planned, and was a result of too much partying around Christmas/NYE. It didn't work out, but made us realize we wanted a baby, so technically alcohol kind of played a role in this pregnancy too.

DD was conceived during the holidays, so holiday sex? I had just had a loss so for whatever reason we were doing it a lot more anyway...
This one was consolation sex. DH hates my cousin and I forced him to go to her graduation with me. I made up for it the next day

Going back a bit in the thread, I love fall. I love pumpkin and everything 'basic.' It has finally been cool enough to keep the doors and windows open here, and I'm so stupid happy about it.

This kiddo I can 100% say was not consumed with alcohol. I just got back from a 2 week exercise....so that was all the motivation I needed. I actually found out I was pregnant in an OB office because I was trying to figure out why I was having recurrent MC.

My 3 word conception story: cross-country booty call (is that four words? whatever)

We were trying to conceive, and I’d had an early loss the month before that threw off my cycle. When I got an unexpected positive ovulation test while DH was away in CA, I went mad with impatience, found a promotion for a half price miles ticket, and flew across the country that same day to have sex with my husband. I wasn’t baby crazy or anything.

It was actually kind of romantic. I still can’t believe it worked.

All three of these creatures were conceived by wine consumption. Lol We never really “tried” for any of them, but the first two were NTNP. This last one was the only complete shock.

The first one was right after getting home from a vacation. The second one was the night of a big birthday. This one was the result of a date night. All three evenings involved too much wine. All three are reasons I’m having my tubes removed after this kid comes out. Lol

@becks_726 I’m 18 weeks. I thought I felt it on the outside a week ago but wasn’t sure however this was a big one and undeniable. I think you could probably feel it earlier depending on where baby and/or placenta is as well as your own anatomy.

I’m so excited I just got a used baby jogger city mini gt on a Facebook site! It looks to be in great condition! @kayjay44 I think you said you have this one! I’m just looking into options for what to do with the baby when it’s tounger since there isn’t a car seat attachment, did you do the pram? Edited to add- we got a double for DD and the baby!

@nursemom913- I have one of those too and we had a chicco keyfit 30 car seat when my son was little. We used them together with an adapter thing bought online. Various adapter attachments are sold, so you can do a carrier car seat from a lot of diff brands with it, you just have to buy the adapter thing (which was $30-40 if memory serves).

Has anyone thought about holiday travel yet? We usually travel a few days before or after Christmas, but stay home for Thanksgiving. When I was pregnant with DS we stayed home altogether for Christmas because of my placenta previa. I'm going to ask my doctor her opinion but ... here's the thing. I REALLY don't want to travel anywhere at all for Christmas. My entire family lives literally within 20 minutes of us. DH's family is all over the US, flying is too expensive, driving is a pain in the ass and it's just so stressful traveling around that time of year, let alone while pregnant and lugging around a toddler.

So I hinted at this to DH (I know I should be straight forward, but using my words is hard sometimes) and he totally stepped up and ran interference with his family. He said we might not be able to travel this year because of the pregnancy (bless you H) and invited them to come here for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. Which would be great! Their response: "we might pick a weekend around the holiday to come. Maybe. But holiday travel is such a pain and so expensive."

UM SO YOU DON'T WANT TO DO IT BUT YOU WANT US TO?! I just honestly don't understand the fact that people seem incapable of taking another person's perspective. And I know I'm overreacting, but also feel kind of justified. Don't expect us to pack up our wild kid and my pregnant ass if you aren't willing to do it yourself.

So now I'm worried my doctor will okay us to travel lol. Because even if we are safe to travel at the end of December, I don't feel suuuuuper comfortable with that. Especially because I'm at an increased risk of preterm labor from the SCH.

@BourbonBiscuits before I got pregnant, we were planning celebrating NYE in San Diego. My IL’s spend every winter there along with a bunch of friends. As soon as we found out about the pregnancy we decided to stay home. I’m probably technically ok to travel since it’s before week 35, but I’m nervous and don’t want to risk it. Also since I’m taking so much time off work for mat leave, I really don’t want to take any time off before baby arrives if I can avoid it. I’d say being in third tri is reason enough to stay home, high risk or not.

@BourbonBiscuits - Our holiday travel is 2 hours (my parents live north and my IL's live NW). I've already amde it clear I won't be traveling. We will be going up for a NYE wedding, but that will be the last of my "travels". Even being in the car two hours is too much when I'm that pregnant. My ILs (ok, MIL) is throwing a fit that we don't want to come out for the holidays but expects us (two kids, two dogs and a pregnant woman) to be ok doing it. I feel you.

@BourbonBiscuits I’d say you went out of your way to invite them to you, so your part is done. If they chose not to come now it’s totally on them. And absolutely not fair that they would expect you all to travel but act as if it’s an inconvenience for them to. Now you can stay home and have a low key and hopefully stress free holiday!

@BourbonBiscuits You've done your part. My IL's live in Kentucky and my family lives in N. Illinois, and we've already told them that we're not travelling this Christmas, and Thanksgiving is too short of a time away from work to really warrant a trip up to visit. I hate taking off days from work, especially knowing that I'll want to use vacation time when the baby arrives. Plus, travelling anywhere north of Georgia can be really shitty in late December. Last year we got stuck in a blizzard on the drive between Louisville and Peoria, and it took us about two hours longer to drive it.
Basically I hate travelling in the winter time, and this pregnancy works as an excellent excuse to avoid doing so. I say that you should put the brakes on any winter travel, using the pregnancy as your reason, and still say "but you're welcome to come visit us." Y'all go out of your way in other years to visit them, I'm sure, so they shouldn't mind travelling to you for a change. And if they do mind, then they're drama llamas and y'all don't need that during the holidays. LOL

We have told everyone we are staying put for Thanksgiving but that they are welcome to come to us. The holidays are more complicated as both sets of parents are in the DC area. Normally we just bounce between homes and everyone is happy. BUT this will be my parents' last holiday season out there because they are moving to Seattle in the spring. My MIL is freaking out that she will never see us anymore and my mom is also getting all emotional about the last Christmas in the house, so we have to get back there for the holidays. Also my baby nephew has to have heart surgery in November and they might not be able to make it back for the holidays if he is not cleared for travel by then. It's a real clusterf***. Not really looking forward to 17 hours in the car, but I guess that's what is going to happen.

I'm really hoping I'll be feeling up for a 6-8 hour drive for Christmas as my last chance to see everyone for a while but I totally understand those who would opt out. I'm pretty sure the 3rd trimester is a perfect excuse, especially if you invite family to come to you!

My youngest DS was born in January and we told everyone we weren't traveling for Thanksgiving or Christmas. We usually alternate those holidays between my family and DHs but told them that year they could come to us. I think my family was cool with it because my niece was born 5 days after Christmas a few years before and she wasn't due until February! I really didn't care less what the rest of them felt like. I'd rather be 20 minutes from my doctor if something happened than on the snowy roads of Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland or West Virginia!
We're not going anywhere this year either.
