  • :| Wtf. Why didn’t my cool Hamilton gif show up.
  • Loading the player...
  • I see it!!!

  • Also I am VERY torn on names.  Ugh
    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • It shows for me on my computer but not on the app. Ugh TB App sucks.

So when I was pregnant with DS we had a girl name (Charlotte Elizabeth - nn Charley), but then Princess Charlotte was born and the name blew up. So that name is off our list. If this one is a boy he'll be Lucas James, but we're totally torn on girl names. We typically make a big running list and then each cross names off that we don't like until there's just one left. We named DS Elliott after I cried watching Pete's Dragon, so there's always a chance I'll just get really emotional about a children's movie.
  • I see it @BourbonBiscuits!!

My husband won’t talk about names yet. I’m not sure why!! It’s almost like he thinks it is bad luck or jinxing ? Our families are both Greek, and there is a tradition of naming first born after the paternal grandparents. Don’t think I have a choice lol. We’ll have to talk about it eventually?!  :D
  • I have names pretty narrowed! Lillian Rae if it s a girl!!  Boy is up in the air.. I like Ethan. But I also like Jordan Mitchell (both of our middle names!) still some deciding to do. Names are tough!
  • Ivy Jade (after my paternal Gma) for a girl, I’m not sold on a boy name aside from the middle name being James (after my dad). We started tossing around names right after we had our daughter.

I can't think of boy names to save my life.
  • AH I've been waiting for this!

A little back story: My grandparents raised me (my mom is an addict and my dad worked 6 days a week to support me) so I am very VERY close to them. My grandfather passed away Feb 4 of this year. After TTC for a year we finally got a BFP and my due date is Feb 4th. His name was Lawrence. SO for a girl name I like Lauren Margaret, because Lauren is kinda like Lawerence. And for a boy name I want Lawrence to be the middle name and H says thats fine and he wants the first name to be Miles. I don't know if I love Miles. Does Miles Lawrence sound like a good name?!

@BourbonBiscuits I LOVED the name Charlotte but since Princess Charlotte was born I know like 50 kids with that name. I made H download the babyname app which is like tinder for baby names. Whatever one we both swipe right on comes up on our match list... we have no boy names on our match list.

I have no boy names picked out, but several girl names: Tuva, Solvei, Ronya and Agathe are near the top for now. I need names that will work in both Norwegian and English, for some reason boy names are way harder to come up with. I won't really think too much about it until we find out the sex though.

    I have no idea anymore.

@grebretso- we’re super into Scandinavian (clearly I’m team Norwegian) names but I have no idea what we will do this time. Everyone shits on our names and then I get unsure.

@mainemama_ - I think Miles Lawrence sounds great!

@kayjay44 I know exactly what you mean. My FIL went on a website with 100 popular Norwegian names and after a while they don't even sound like names anymore!

I don't necessarily need a Scandinavian name (Agathe isn't very common in Norway), it just needs to be pronounceable in both Norwegian and English. My mom would have trouble with very English sounding names like Rachel or or Nathan. It goes the other way too, I'd never name my son Simen (lol), but that's a common boy name in Norway!

  • I'm struggling on boy names!  I've thought of a few girl names, but I doubt I'll find one as much as DD's name, Arabella Kathleen.
  • I think Miles Lawrence flows.

I kind of hope this bean is a vagina bean so I can use my grandma’s name. She just turned 96 on Saturday so I’d love to have that happen while she’s still with us. Also because my husband and I don’t agree on circumcision, I’d like to be not in battle for the next several months.
  • I love Miles Lawrence!
  • @grebretso - I keep threatening to use Gunlauger, my Icelandic greatgrandfather’s name (in English it’s commonly mispronounced as Gun-lugger) when MIL/SIL throw shit fits over names.

@kayjay44 Gunlauger is AWESOME! As if your MIL should get a say, she's done plenty already.

We were actually thinking Gunnar for a boy, after my paternal grandpa. But this kid will have a crazy last name, no need to make it worse. Some of the girl names on my list are on the edge too...

  • @grebretso - I know a few Gunnar’s - it’s not crazy popular but it’s definitely not unheard of in this area.

I’m still leaning towards Ingrid for a girl (mn something soft like Else, Eira, Solveig). I’m just not sold on it like I was my other kid’s names. I want to use Henrik for a boy (in honor of my grandfather who just passed away this spring)but I’m not sure if it will be a first or a middle name yet.

@kayjay44 Both Ingrid and Henrik are great options! Ingrid is my sister's name! Eira is really good too, but Else would probably just be mispronounced as Elsa all the time (damn you, Frost).

How about if we both have girls, you do Solveig and I do Solvei.

  • We already had a name thread a few weeks ago, but we’ve added people since then. I know this because I started it  :D
  • @cmjenkies did we really?! I’m the worst. I swear I just don’t make new memories in the early weeks of pregnancy.

I say this so that I can search back to that thread, screenshot my answer, and bring it here because I don’t feel like typing it. I don’t know if it’s actually still accurate for me or not haha
  • For our son, we had two names picked. His name and Reid Patrick. We both still dig Reid so that is our boy name by default.

For girl names, we’ve got a list but no clear front runner as we like all of them... Brynn, Faye, Quinn, Cate, Eve, Claire, Bree. Middle will be Elizabeth.

  • Thanks guys!! I took to heart what MIL said when we named DS. We really like Bentley and the minute we told her she picked up her IPad and started googling other names. Now I don’t even care, if H and I like it then that’s all that matters to us!!

@cmjenkies I thought I had typed that out before but then thought maybe I dreamt it since it’s been weighing on me a ton!
  • I’m loving the name Vincent lately. My boyfriend really likes the name Elijah and I do not. For girls names we both like Amelia Dorothea but I like Lorelei and Avonlea better. It’s going to be a long discussion when we find out the sex, lol.

We are likely not going to name this kid until it's born. We are team green and can't come up with anything we both like.

With DD we were team green but had the name Olivia picked out from before we even knew we would have kids. Boy names changed all the time and we never really settled on one. Luckily she was a girl.

Now DH hates everything and seriously has no suggestions to give. I wanted a bilingual name that could be pronounced in both French and English but it's proving difficult to find names we like. So I told him this time that it doesnt HAVE to be so we can slowly start working on a short list.

I love Vera, Evelyn, and Quinn for girls names. Boys names I like Xavier and Logan.

Might have to check out that baby name "tinder style" app.

ETA fixed typos. My phone seriously hates me.
  • Names ugh!  We can't agree!

@BourbonBiscuits I had DD#2 just 1 day before little princess Charlotte was born and my daughter was named Charlotte Carol..of COURSE!  My dad called to tell me that's what they named her and I was pissed!
We are team green so we will have to agree on a boy and a girl name..

Boy: Likely will be Callum Robert
Girl: Yeah we got nothin'.. I absolutely love the name Gweneth Mary but DH doesn't soooo

    Baby girl #1 7/11/13

    Baby girl #2 4/30/15

    Baby Boy Due 2/16/19!

  • We have narrowed down our boy's name, I think. Clark would de be the first name, middle is between Henry or Wells. Can't decide which sounds better, Clark Henry or Clark Wells. Kind of iffy on using Wells since he'd have three last names as a name, but I keep coming back to it. I also like the first name Harrison though.

Girl names are tough. I really like Eliza, but there's a tiny family complication with it, it's kind of close to someone else's name. Also tossing around Emme, Liza, Willow, Cora, Georgia (nn Georgie), and Adrianna.  I feel like girl names are hard because they either sound like a perpetual child or like a 70 year old librarian.

Please halp. I refuse to discuss names with anyone IRL because I'll have the urge to choke slam people who say rude stuff, but I'd value the first impressions/opinions of anyone here, because you're objective and I don't have to pretend to be civil with you in life situations after you've shit on my names haha.
  • We’re big on family names. I only have a girl’s name as a result because the only good boy names from our families was used on my DS. Lol Molly Ann is what I want to use if it’s a girl.
  • So we have a very Italian last name and I feel like not every name will go with it sooooo yeah it’s been hard haha. DS is Luca and DH is Joseph.

For a girl, we both like Leah but disagree on the spelling.  I also like Della after DH’s grandmother.  For a boy, Vincent.  And that’s about all I like for a boy...had a very hard time even with DS lol

@bleucheeznwine I think Wells and Henry work well with Clark. My friend is thinking of naming her second son due in October Wells to go with the water theme she started with DS (Brooks). I agree with you on girls names, it is a fine line between sounding like they belong to a little girl or they are too old, we ended up naming DD Caroline Reagan, because we believe it is a classic name they she will grow into. All of your names are beautiful for a girl, and I am sure whatever name you pick will be perfect!

As for girls we like the names: Claire, Matilda, Madeline, Meredith with the middle name of Kathleen after DH mother.
My boys we like: Cole Ryker (my husband is a huge star trek nerd), George Charles, or Derek Charles; Charles after my Dad. I used to not be a fan of Derek, but it is growing on me a little. As with Charlotte, we hope George isn't too popular due to the prince.
  • So we have a very Italian last name and I feel like not every name will go with it sooooo yeah it’s been hard haha. DS is Luca and DH is Joseph.

We love Vincent too! Well I do and I’m carrying this thing ;)

My fiance is the III and is really set on his first boy being the IV but I just can't get behind it. His name is Joe, his dad and his grandpap are Joe, his mom is Joanne, her brother and dad are Joe. It's just too many damn Joe's.

Not to mention my number one girl name has always been Josie. Because I loved Jo as a girl nickname. Aaah. What to do!

My boy name preference is Lincoln Guy. Guy after my father who passed away in 2014.

We're team green so this baby wont be named until days after we get home probably haha.

@bleucheeznwine I love the name Wells and I think the three last names actually would  sound great! Very regal.

  • H wants to do Vicente for a boy but call him Vincent. I think it’s silly to name somebody one thing but call them something else. I’m not sold yet.
  • So we need to use the letter R for either the first or middle name after my grandmother who passed away last year. For a girl I think I want to use R for the first name and Elizabeth for the middle name, after DH’s grandmother who also passed away last year. So we are thinking either Reagan or Reece Elizabeth for a girl.

We haven’t really come up with much for a boy yet...DH said Rowan but I’m not sure
  • DH and I have decided a little girl will be Perenelle Julia. For a boy we're leaning toward Lionel, with the nickname Leo, but I'm afraid people will think I named my kid after Lionel/Leo Messi (I'm half Argentine... it's a thing). But maybe I'm thinking more people know who he is than actually do? Like, how many Americans actually follow soccer? And he's retiring soon anyway, so hopefully soon he'll come to mind less than he does now. What do you guys think?
  • @adough27. Omg Ryker!! My husband is a huge TNG fan too haha I even also sort of like it hehe
