@thepax89 That's really sweet that she named "him" lol. The only time I'd say heritage would matter is if it's like a SUPER Irish (or whatever) name. Like if a family with no latin/hispanic heritage at all named their kid Francisco I'd be confused. I just feel like when he grew up everyone would ask if he's hispanic because of his name and he'd have to be like "wellllll actually ..." you know what I mean?
Anyone else have a DH that is a third and if this is a boy, wants it to be the fourth? I want another girl solely for this reason! His dad and Grandpa have passed so he's the only one with his name. I don't want to call the baby by the same name too. Legal docs get confusing. I'm being a jerk, but I keep throwing out other boy names.
@whattalife525415 DH wanted a junior, but I was absolutely against it I am not spending the rest of my life calling out for Brian and 2 people answering or calling any future son BJ, the poor kid. Also, I want any future son to have my Dad's middle name. Maybe you can compromise with his name being the middle name? Or maybe a nick name? We made a compromise that we pick another name if our son doesn't get circumcised, this has been a debate in our house since DD.
@whattalife525415 Yes! My fiance is the third and is determined to have his first son be the fourth. But not only is he the third, his mom, mom's dad and her brother all have the same name too! It's literally a family of Joe's and I just can't get past how absurd it all is. We've been duking this out far before we got pregnant. Not quite sure what to do about it.
I mean, if I say Joe at family events I've literally got like 6 sets of eyes turning to look at me. It doesn't need to be 7.
For a girl we will probably go with Caliana or Caliane (you can easily pronounce both in Portuguese and English, and I want at least 1 of my kids to have a Brasilian name) No Middle name yet. We also like Ariane, and Ariana, but my husband hates Ariana Grande, so that one is probably out. My husband is under STRICT orders not to tell his mother or ANYONE this time since for both of my older kids, names was a huge deal. For a boy, it is harder. My MIL has her heart set on us naming the boy Henry after her husband... and I used to really like Henry, but I have so many friends who have used that name, so I am just not real into it anymore. So for a girl we are set, but my husband and both of my kids want a baby boy, so.....
@jessier19 It sounds like he's a fan of Greek and Roman history! One of my friends is a professor of Classics, and he named his daughter Penelope, after the wise wife of Odysseus. It's one of the few names of Greek mythology that doesn't sound crazy in modern times!
We have a few names but nothing decided on. If it's a boy the MN will be Jeffrey. First names we like include Callan, Carson, William (Will). As a side note- when you ladies see "Callan", how would you pronounce it? It's definitely our favorite name from the list but DH is worried everyone will pronounce it like "Colin" instead of "Cal-lan" (as in California).
Girl names are so much harder. Our list currently includes Maren, Eleanor, Macy, Cora, Adalyn (Addie). MN will be family related so possibly Jo, Karen, Camille, Michelle. Ugh. I feel like we will never decide on a name if it's a girl.

With our first two, the plan if they were boys was to use his middle name - I was totally on board with that. Now DH is really wanting a fourth. His nickname ideas, Quad or Cuatro... I really wish I was kidding.
Another vote for Vincent! It was my grandfathers middle name and we love the short form of Vince. But our last name starts with V so we’re not sure if it’s too much We also like Emmett or Wyatt for boys names.
For girls, we like the name Evelyn (my grandmothers name) but short form would likely be Eve and my husband’s name is Adam. Lol. We also like Elise and Amelia.
Also a big thank you to whoever suggested the Tinder-like baby name app. It’s addictive!
We just learned we are having a boy so right now we are thinking of Milo, Archer (Archie), Bo, or Xavier (Xavi). But I am sure this list will keep changing...
@ThePax89 Choose the name that calls out to you! I think it could also really depend on the Irish name. Fiona, Connor, Quinn and Declan are Irish names that are more common in the States. Siobhan, Niamh, or Saoirse may seem more specifically Irish. As an example, DH is South American and he and his siblings were all given very traditional German names. DH and his sibs have dealt with people making comments on their name not matching their background. SIL actually goes by her middle name bc of this. But, DH and BIL (Wolf) love and appreciate how unique their names are. There is no right answer, do what you think is best.

Yea.. My last name is Francisco.. I often have to remind people it's only a Hispanic first name. My husband's descendant was from Portugal, but was adopted. I'm technically Cuban, So i resemble the name much more that's my husband's family whom takes after their blond hair blue eyed German mother. Haha We intend on being very careful to not pick a name predominantly used in Hispanic cultures.
I think we’re leaning towards Davis for a boys first name- DHs middle name. Middle name will probably be another family name but undecided so far. We have lots of options for girls. I really like Lillian but DH isn’t sold. Also have Cora, Paige, Caroline on our girl list. DD is Claire, it was so easy to pick her name last time!
We are an all family names kind of family. we have Evangeline Louise (great grandmother and my deceased cousin. Call her evie pronounced eh-vee) casimir John (H’s grandfather and my dad. Called Caz) ignatius hayes (h’s great grandfather and my grandmothers maiden name. Called Iggy) fitzgerald Rooney (great grandmothers maiden name and my maiden name. Called fitz or Fitzy)
so I think we have to stay true to that. If it’s a girl I believe it will be Anastasia Clare (both my grandmothers. Called Annie) if it’s a boy we are a little stumped. Maybe maguire, no mn option yet. (Called Mac)

Claire was on our list last time and this time around! Our DD is Caroline, I love your names!
Right now, DH and I really like Aubrey Skye for a girl (we had our honeymoon in Scotland and theres a place there called Skye), or Garrett Adam for a boy.
We have a lot of girl names we like, but Aubrey was our favorite. I also kind of want to name a girl after my mom who passed away...but we both just really love the name Aubrey
Does anyone else feel stressed about picking a name you'll regret? I love DS's name, but it kind of came out of nowhere. This time around it feels harder because we're taking into account names that will sound good with his. I love Eleanor, but DS is Elliott and it just reminds me of the Duggars to have such similar names.
I think we've landed on Chloe Elizabeth for a girl. As with DS's name, I mentioned it in passing to DH and he went "yep that's cute" and that was the end of the conversation. Lol I always know I've picked a winner when he doesn't veto it outright.
Thoughts on the name Blake? It’s one of the only boy names we can agree on, but I know so many people are using it for girls. I don’t want people to think it sounds feminine. Also my girls are Everleigh (trendy) and McCartney (family name) so is Blake too plain?
ETA: Also I have no idea if it’s a boy, just thinking since boy names are hard for us, so could totally not matter in a few weeks!
@BourbonBiscuits I'm also nervous about picking a name. I don't want something too common but I also don't want the poor thing to have to spell their name out all the time! It's adelicate balance.
@LuLiLaEv I really like Blake for either gender but prefer it for boys. I think it's very neutral.
@BourbonBiscuits - Yep. With our first two, the names just clicked and 4 and 2 years later, they still fit perfectly.. I haven't had that feeling yet and I don't know if I will.
We are pretty set on our names! We like names that are unique. Wilder Knox for a boy and Journey River for a girl! I already have a daughter and her name is Isla Jane.
Now that we know it’s a boy I’m thinking David Cole. David was my dads name and Cole to honor my aunt/godmother that has been given limited time to live after battling cancer. Her name starts with a C so I thought I’d borrow the typically Jewish tradition. (Not sure if other cultures have this tradition)
We're going with Henrik for the first name in honor of my grandfather who passed away this spring (Henry is also my other grandfather's MN). DH wants to use the same MNs for DS2 as DS1 - Michael Emons (Michael for my dad and brother, Emons is DH's family MN). I'm cool with that, so we're likely having Henrik Michael Emons Johnson. I ordered a personalized blanket, so no going back on the first name....
It might be a while until we agree on names... We did a baby name tinder app and ended up with a whole 4 matches after going through all names, two of which are the names of relatives' cats!! I'm team green, H is not so I may be swayed by 20 weeks. My current front runners are Fiona or Meredith and Elliott or Miles.
@thechickendance my son is Elliott!! It’s a great name, if I do say so myself. Miles was another boy name I loved, but we have a Miles in the family already.
@madwhitlove that’s what we were going to name DS if he was a girl!!
Okay help. My husband LOVES the name Everleigh/Everly. I ... don’t like it at all. My gut reaction is that it’s not enough of a real name. But DS is Elliott and I don’t want them to have the same letter of their first name. We aren’t the kardashians or the duggars. Is there a name that’s like Everleigh that isn’t Everleigh? I told him I’d try saying it in my head and see if I come around
@BourbonBiscuits I know not exactly what you’re asking but DD1’s name is Everleigh and we (and everyone) call her Evie, so maybe you could compromise with a nickname?
@BourbonBiscuits what about Avery? Sounds similar or even Evelyn? I know you don’t like the idea of another E name but it’s similar to Everleigh yet more of a classic name.
@allthingsgo I thought the same thing when I read @BourbonBiscuits post. I love the name Avery. I don’t think it is too common, I’ve only had a 2 Averys in my teaching career (and I teach 450 students a year).
I like Averleigh/Averly, and you can call her Avy or Ava. I have an E name, DD has an A, DH has a P name, so I kind of feel like DS needs a consonant name. Weird, I know.
Help! I’m stuck on the name Camilla, nn Millie after my beloved grandmother. But DH hates it! I don’t want to go with just “Millie” because it sounds too cutesy for an adult, but I can’t think of another name that works with the nn...
@BourbonBiscuits I have a friend with an “Everly” and it grew on me over time. I’m not crazy about throwing “-leigh” onto the end of names though in place of the usual “-ly.” (However Leigh is my sisters middle name and we may use it as a mn if this one is a girl).
I really like the Avery suggestion though - that’s one of the ones on my list.
