Just got home from pre registering at the hospital and when I walk into L&D to start the paperwork the nurse at the counter goes, "are you here to be admitted, or checked because your in labor? It is time right?" All while starrrrrrrringgggggg at my belly.
Omg.... you guys...Your reactions really cheered me up. Idk why but for some reason his comment didn't really bother me too much. It just seemed like such a ridiculous thing to hear, it didnt phase me much. I think I'm just too exhausted to give a #@$! anymore. Lol. Being a "beauty" The last thing I am worried about now a days.
Today the cashier in Kohl’s told me I don’t look 9 months pregnant (I took it as a compliment), a lady told me to cut her in line for the bathroom in target, and a guy got a shopping cart out for me at target before getting one for himself. so overall I had positive experiences for once today, but I am generally becoming really sick of having the same convo at every checkout line or public place I go: “when are you due? Is this your first? Do you know what you’re having? Is this your first.” It’s just getting very repetitive!
Today I got 2 "Just a few months to go, huh?" I'm like...nope, 2 weeks. I know overall it sounds like a compliment but it always makes me feel like I'm undernourishing my baby or something. Whatever.
I was at a friend’s baby shower yesterday, and her mother exclaimed positively about my pregnancy, but her father said, “She’s not pregnant. She’s just had one too many donuts.” Ugh, if he hadn’t been the father of the shower person (and what does he tell his daughter, anyway?)
So DH's grandfather has done a couple long-awkward belly grabs (one was def more underboob than bump)- and I'm also a no-touchy person - BUT i just got my birthday card and it's got more cash than usual...so maybe it's a tip? for once it's' paying to be the in-law's brood mare! LOL
Oh I totally forgot this. One of DH's coworkers (whom I don't even know well) totally grabbed my belly on Friday night at the karaoke bar and rested her head on it. SO. FLIPPING. AWKWARD. I was thrown off guard and couldn't really move and she was like "Ohhhh, sweet baby". It did not feel good.
@kissableviv oh gawd, was the coworker drunk? Ick!
I have two work days left and then I'm on leave, just had someone say they hope I enjoy my summer vacation. Uh, what? Seriously hoping that was a poor attempt at a joke because what sort of vacations do they go on that involve pushing a watermelon through a grapefruit and then still having to live life?
Was at the grocery store today and a random guy says "ooooh looks like someone is going to have a 4th of July baby!" I'm like...no. Go away. LOL I'm not even due until the 24th but I do know I look massive, thanks.
My nurse in the OB office today asked me how I was feeling. So I answered and said ehh.. hot, swollen.. then she looked at my feet and said “that’s nothing! You should see some of the swollen feet we get in here..” I’m glad my swelling isn’t dangerous but any swelling is a lot of swelling and this is the worst it’s been so thank you for making me even more cranky today random nurse.
I think I’m just gonna block everyone in my entire contact list from texting me at this point. NOT HELPFUL. I don’t give a shit about your painful period cramps eff off!!!
As i was being rolled into the entrance of L&D the security guard said something along the lines of “wow looks like your about to blow”. Um not what you would expect from someone who see pregnant women going in and out of there.
OMG @zande2016 Lol I love your response. Why would her cramps make you feel better? That’s an odd thing to say. And eww to her telling you about her flow. Maybe that’s normal but I’m not that close with my friends to discuss period flow lol.

Can I resurrect this thread for things people say to postpartum moms. Outside with DS today watching him ride his bike and baby wearing while walking along side him and our neighbor comes out. She asks to see the baby which I walk over and let her look. Then she says, " You really shouldn't have her outside or take her anywhere yet. She is still so new and she was very little at birth which is even more reason to stay inside the first 6 weeks to two months." I just kindly responded that there was no possible way as I have a 6 year old and am parenting 100% alone currently. Gotta love unwanted advice
@kbernal2021 People need to learn to keep their mouth shut. I’ll never forget when I took our 6ish week old son to visit my H at work and one his employees scolded me for not having a hat on him. yeah it was October but it was really warm out. She told me babies cannot have their ears exposed to the wind because they will develop an ear infection. I looked her right In the eye and said “that’s an old wives tale.” She shut up, prob because she knew my husband was her boss lol, but it was the first time I felt openly judged/mom shamed as a parent.
DH this morning when I told him I woke up super crampy and feeling like I had to poop but then got disappointed because I don't have anymore cramps really right now- " I don't know why you're in such a hurry. The baby will come when it comes."
You're right babe. I've been so silly. My body hasn't been my own for 10 months, I waddle, I hurt getting on the floor with my son which is basically my FULL TIME JOB, its humid. I don't know why I'm in such a hurry either. **stabby**
@SmashJam my H tries to be “reassuring” (I don’t think that’s the right word but I cant come up with another one) like that sometimes. One of these days my eyeballs will get stuck in the back of my head.
The next person to tell me to walk more or to do anything else that may help induce, is going to get a big ole middle finger and "fuck off". I may just block people at this point. I understand people mean well however, ffs!!! Just. Don't.
H keeps telling the baby to wait until AFTER my due date to come or to come on a weekend so that he doesnt miss work. How nice of you to express this when you do not have a head so low in your pelvis that sitting and walking are extremely uncomfortable or have shoulders rubbing up against your pelvic bone so you cant lay or sit a certain way. No biggie, dear. I'll just deal for another 2 weeks because its inconvenient for you. Dickhead.
@zombiehoohaa DH did the SAME THING with DD - kept telling the belly to wait because it would be so awesome to have a memorial day birthday - little daddy's girl actually listened >_<
Not pregnancy related but I’m getting annoyed by my parents saying they want to take home DSs or that i should ship them over to them, or if i can give them one of them.
@wildtot my ILs do the same thing about DD - FIL always goes on and on about how in a few years he's going to take her every saturday or they want to take her to some family event we already RSVP'd no to - we both work, weekends are the only time we get to spend quality time with her, and she's not some accessory for them to drag around.
Today a friend said, "I don't think he's coming soon, he's still high and happy in there." UGH NO! I thought he was dropped because I can feel his head in my pelvis?! I mean there is a solid 6 inches between his butt and the bottom of my ribs. that's dropped right?!? Ugh I'll be preggo forever.
@SmashJam don’t take station as any indication when you’ll go into labor! I was -1 when I went in for induction. My midwife checked me after my water broke and I was -2!!! She was like I’m sorry I don’t know how this is possible but your baby moved up...it wasn’t until I got to 10 cm that he finally dropped to 0 station and I pushed him out 15 mins later.
@SmashJam I second what @zande2016 said about station. I went into spontaneous labor at 38w3d and I did not feel like DD had dropped at all. My dr said she was low at my last appointment but never gave me an exact station. When i was laboring she was still up high!
@zande2016@kbernal2021 thanks guys! I logically know that you are correct, but it sucked to hear because I feel like he is low! I just need to get back in the mindset of going all the way to 42 weeks and not constantly wonder if every twinge is labor, lol.
Was visiting a friend today and her DH. They have their big yearly party coming up next weekend and I commented that I probably won't come as it's mostly drinking. Her H told me to just have the baby now... He said just start pushing so the baby comes out. He genuinely thought that that's all it takes to have a baby, no contractions/ labor. It took everything in me to not stab him.
MIL today: " how you feeling today? Any news? " me: nope, nothing to report! MIL:oh good. Stick to ds's schedule and we will be all good!
She is going out of town this weekend and doesn't want me to give birth and is all worried because of yesterdays contractions. It's not my fault you scheduled yourself out of town with no service in the middle of no where for 3 days between 6 and 4 days before my due date. I know I'm always super late but its third baby. All bets are off. Stop wishing me two weeks late!
@SmashJam MIL privilege is making me super ragey today - yes we just have children for your pleasure and god forbid we have a couple days alone with our children before you stroll in ugh
Scheduled my one on one with my boss before I go out - I told him i'd rather meet today than tomorrow because i'm always paranoid they're going to send me straight to L&D from the office and my check up is today. We set something for 2 pm and he told me to "keep your knees together until then" ugh
Had to take some paperwork up to my job for my leave and while I was there of course everyone wanted to see the baby. I worked right up to the day I went into labor so everyone saw my final pregnant belly. A lady (shes 78 so I excuse her brutal comments) used to always comment on my belly button that stuck out and went as far as to give me a bandaid to cover it up. Anyway, she sees the baby and the first thing she says is, "your belly button is gone!"
Never wanted to flip off an elderly lady more in my entire life.
@SmashJam Ha, that's kind of like my Mom for this weekend. She's going to our cousin's wedding in Ohio, but she's already prepared to turn around if she needs to. I think she's a bit superstitious because my sister's kids are both born on the 21st of their respective months so she's convinced that this one will show up on the 21st as well.
Re: Things People Say to Pregnant Women
What does that even mean...

@smashjam solidarity on the h front.

@kbernal2021 what a weird thing to notice, lol.
@gingerbride26 "keep your knees together" wtf?
