about your head cold. They’re the worst sometimes. So I’m not a doctor and I’m
not recommending anything. But while I was pregnant about 3 months in I got so
sick. Like needed antibiotics, lost my voice etc…I was really congested too and
apparently besides being sick, congestion is a symptom from being pregnant. I
never had anything else but that. I depended on Afrin. I asked the docs and
they told me I shouldn’t be using it. I asked them if it’s going to harm the
baby because of course, I would just suck it up then. And they told me no. I
had to use afrin several times a day my entire pregnancy and the baby was
perfectly healthy. Not telling you what to do just telling you my experience. But
I think it’s pretty harmless.
suziev3 thank you! What’s weird too is even though I’m
doubtful I was thinking even if I got a BFP I feel like we wouldn’t be excited
because of everything we went through the first time. It’s a bit sad that we
couldn’t celebrate until after the anatomy scan. That’s 5 months of worry!! And

@Drove2u Hi This transfer was really unexpected. I thought I'd be transferring by Sept or something. Originally we planned to stimm in June, freeze what we get and stimm one more to bank some embies, then we transfer. But with the conditions of the embies we got this time, we were given the go ahead for a fresh transfer (my first).
As for those spammers, I guess they're here to promote their company. They're really nasty I think.
@Chrysalis7 - I've been taking my oral estrace for 2 weeks now and even had to do it vaginally for two days to get my lining to increase. I didn't feel nauseous, but DEFINITELY irritable and emotional, almost apathetic too at times. Hang in there! I just started progesterone in oil injections today. Do you start those soon?
@bebesparrow I just started PIO today as well! Maybe my butt's still numb from last month, but I'm happy I barely felt it for once. Though, tomorrow morning will probably bring a hot mess lol

I'm hitting a roadblock and I'd appreciate any ideas or inputs on this please.
DH bought a bag of moldable plastic (melts in hot water) and he's planning to make a cable out of it. I'm so scared that it'll bring out toxins that would be harmful for him, me and our implantation chance. I'm worried how to tell him these, he's bipolar and we're just recovering from a traumatic year-2017. Definitely I'll tell him my mind later tonight for the sake of this embie inside me now, but I'm worried, I get flashes of memories from his anxiety attacks from last year. Another thing that boggles my mind is why wouldn't he know these hazards? He's a scientist for crying out loud! Anyway, I'll talk to him about this, but what works well for you and your SO when you have this type of situation?
Update on this:
I just talked to him and he lectured me that it would be no problem and that my make up would pose more risk to me than his hobby and that I'd just have to avoid second hand smoke. Well, I'm glad I got this is off my chest, whew! But really? Plastic? Anyway, he knows much more about his Science than me, so I'll trust him with this and probably stay as far away from his work space when he starts his project.
@drove2u good luck today!! I expect to get my NK results tomorrow at my doctor's appointment. I asked the nurse Tuesday when they called me to remind me to start more meds today. She said the doc has been out of the office and he has to review them first and sign off before I get the results. Ugh!

@tinjp78 I think you should be totally safe with the moldable plastic. Softening it in hot water is very different that if it was being completely burned and melted, but with this there shouldn’t be any fumes
and nothing to breathe in. Most of all that stuff you are worried about it repeated long term exposures anyway.
@tinjp78 Glad you were able to talk things out! I'd be a little concerned too, but like you said, he's a scientist...so I'm sure he knows more than we do

@becca07024411 just catching up and saw a mention of Afrin for your cold. I feel compelled to share that my brother in law had regularly taken it throughout his life and then for some reason when taking it last year he fell in a cold sweat, hardly any pulse and ambulance just arrived on time from a reaction, he nearly died. I researched it and saw that it’s not unheard of for this particular drug. Needless to say our family won’t touch it now! I think the scary thing for us is that the allergic reaction can hit people who have taken it just fine previously.

AFM, blood draw went well and no call from nurse so that means no issues with hormone levels, so we are a go for 7/12. It’s starting to hit me now that this is really happening!!! Lining measured 11mm.

AF arrived! So I started patches and will get my blood retested on Saturday. If my E2 goes back up again...(sigh) I just don't know. I have come so far to get stuck at this point!
@suziev3 Yay for AF and Fx for E2 to go back up again!!! I also used Estrana tapes during my IVF#1. They tend to slightly peel off especially after I shower so I tried several ways to keep them from peeling, like wearing my tummy warmer while in the showers and sometimes attaching surgical tapes on them just to securely fasten them. I hope yours won't give you any trouble
Thanks everyone! Transfer today went smooth and quick. Came back home and tried to chill. I took today and tomorrow off work so looking forward to doing nothing. It's projected to be 108 tomorrow so we will watch a ton of movies and naps - They draw blood on 9th, 13th, then final on the 17th. I refuse to take any home tests (opposite of @Drove2u lol), but I have short cycles, so I feel like I should know by next Friday.

@becca07024411 - I wouldn't call them superstitions, but lay down, try not to move too much (even though they say you can). I have been taking a bunch of extra nutritional supplements so maybe that's a superstition since there's no way to tell if it really helps - zinc, vitamin d and e, bazil nuts, plenty of water, prenatal (of course), trying to keep diet healthy with power foods - nuts, fish, leafy greens, oats. You?
On the topic of TW, it doesn't bother me to see positive info and I'm cool if it's missing a TW or a spoiler box. Others may have more lengthy or difficult journeys that would weigh more on the psyche. Then again, this board is here so we can support each other so I come here knowing I will hear positive news. It's finding a balance between those. No right answer.
@leilee101 It's amazing how different each RE or clinic protocol is. I will get three blood draws in my TWW to confirm HGC is on the right path.
Symptoms/side effects - holy crap the Estrace and Crinone got me bloated, moody, irritable, tons of cramping and twinges. I'm getting full faster, but then I want to snack all the time.

AFM, I went in for lining check this morning and it was only 6.7mm. Still waiting on blood results (they only drew progesterone, I assumed estrogen too??) but guessing this sets me back a few days at least. This is my first FET but I RE said he likes it to be around 8. Grr. I know it’s just a few days (hopedully) but so annoying, why can’t things just go as planned? Just once..?
@suziev3 Yay for AF showing again so soon! FX your estrogen will behave itself this time around so you don't have any more hiccups.
@kbear28 Happy PUPO! I agree, the estrogen is making me so bloated as well! I keep trying to avoid certain foods so doesn't make it worse. Guess we all have to get use to it when it all work out
@leilee101 They usually only draw progesterone to make sure you haven't ovulated. Sorry your lining isn't exactly where they want it. Maybe they can add i some extra estrogen in some form to help thicken it up faster. What CD are you on? I know for me a couple of days can make a big difference in thickness.

@tinjp78 Thanks, but actually my recent problem is that my E2 keeps skyrocketing every time I start estrogen for my FET cycle and we have to stop. So FX it stays down! What is a tummy warmer? @kbear28 Congrats! May the TWW go quickly for you. @leilee101 Sorry your lining isn't where they want it to be. My lining has never made it to an 8 and I still got a BFP on my first cycle, so it is possible. That said, hopefully you can thicken it up a little before transfer like ! @kristimh80 mentioned? Seems like a couple of days could do it .
I’m only on CD 13 or 14 and I usually don’t O until CD 17 so I’m not surprised, just annoyed because they I keep telling them “my cycle is like this, my body is like this” and they like seem to disregard me and tell me it doesn’t matter, they’re taking over my cycle with their hormones. This happened during stims too, and I ended up having to stim for 14 days. They just told me not to come back until 7/11 for lining check ugghhh
@kristimh80 I'm on my 3rd day of PIO and I already feel sore! I think I have scar tissue on a certain area from the previous cycle b/c when my hubby gave me the injection, he said he felt resistance pushing the needle in, and needless to say, it hurt for me. I keep telling myself that all of this will be worth it Yes! We are nearly transfer twins! It's coming up! Exciting!
@Drove2u Good luck! Wishing you sticky thoughts. Last cycle, I didn't touch a single HPT and felt like I was pregnant, but that ended up BFN. This cycle, I will just test to put my mind at ease.
@leilee101 My lining was also 6.6 mm on CD 13 and my doctor told me to add vaginal estrace twice a day on top of the oral estrace three times a day, and my lining went to 8.7 mm by CD 17. There was no delay in my transfer and it's scheduled for Monday 7/9. Good luck! The only other thing I did was drink pomegranate juice once a day for only 3 days. Who knows if that helped some.

I'm with Drove2u on testing, I thought I could hold out last time but I kept losing sleep so I just went ahead and tested....I hold out to 7 days past though. We get a trigger shot the day of transfer so I have to make sure that's out of my system.
@leilee101 hpe your lining can catch up for next week's transfer.
AFM: My appointment this morning went well. My lining was at 8 so the doc is happy with it for this point in my cycle. He said even though my arsenic levels came back in the "normal" range at 6, he would prefer to see it below 5 so drink filtered or distilled water (already do) and avoid exhaust/fossil fuel. My NK panel came back elevated as well, not super high but higher than he would like. So that's why we'll be on the prednisone through the first trimester to combat that. It's comforting that we're trying something different this time so if we get the BFP it'll stay put. It has me feeling more hopeful than I was a couple weeks ago.
@bebesparrow Makes sense! Any time I get resistance when injecting, I'll find another location, because in my case it's because I've hit some vein or something and causes a bleed. I use to be such a mess in that sense lol
@leilee101 Try not to stress too much over it. Hopefully on the 11th everything will be perfect and you can stay on schedule

@bebesparrow I’ve been on vaginal estrace 2x a day, hey didn’t change my med regime at all! I’m so tempted to start taking some orally too...
and i I just started acupuncture last week. I went a couple times during my fresh cycle but it was community acupuncture and in a room full of other ppl, not relaxing at all. This time I went to a regular place and i enjoyed it much more. I’ll def be sticking with it for the next few weeks. She told me to eat lamb, chicken liver and chicken broth lol
ps. I asked to come in on 7/10 instead, bc DH has Monday’s off and mondays are the easiest day for me to take off, so FX for good lining on 7/10 for a 7/16 transfer
@kristimh80 It seems there's a bit of controversy about NK cells, blood tests and testing the uterine lining. Some studies say the presence of NK cells in the blood isn't always an indication of NK cells in the uterus. But I'm thankful my doc is covering the bases and adjusting based on the results. At least I'll know we tried something different regardless of the outcome. I'm not thrilled about the prednisone but I'm trusting the doc knows best.

So my “bed rest”
yesterday didn’t work out so well. I bed rested for about a half hour
and then just couldn’t do it anymore and went on with my day except that DH
picked up DD the rest of the day and put her to bed. So I didn’t lift her at all yesterday. Today I
was lifting her and went on as normal. Honestly, I feel like it’s either going
to work or not and I don’t feel like bed rest is going to determine my success.
I’m thinking of testing on Sunday.
I tried practicing PIO myself this morning. And I couldn’t do
it. I couldn’t inject myself. I don’t know how I’m going to do this when I go
away on Tuesday. Ugh. I even asked if I could get suppositories just for the 2
mornings I’m gone and they said no that PIO is the best thing to use. So
tomorrow I’ll keep trying. I’m fine being injected, getting blood drawn etc I
just can’t do it myself.
@leilee101 for the acupuncture...did you find a place yourself or did your RE set it up for you? I thought about it, but mine recommends it through their office so I’m assuming it’s ridiculously expensive. Are you doing it up until transfer or after as well?
@Drove2u you will be able to do it!! I was the same way and then DH went out of town so I had no choice. I just drew it up and went for it. Try not to overthink it. Once I did it the first time, the others were no problem. Definitely just a mind game with me. Did you have your nurse draw circles on you? I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. They helped my husband too. Plus it’s super attractive having two circles on your back haha
@Drove2u You got this!! I always get up close in a mirror to do mine. You don't need to pinch the area like other shots at least. Try picking a shot location and slowly injecting the needle in. I always see people saying to "dart it in", but that terrifies me to think about. Usually, just slowing pushing in the spot and slowly going in does well.

@suziev3 Yikes, sorry I misunderstood. I hope your estrogen would be on its ideal level this time and that you could proceed with the planned schedule. Here in Japan, they call this tummy warmer haramaki.
It's quite uncomfortable showering with this but I badly needed those estrogen patches to stay on. Sometimes I had 4 patches on at the same time.
@leilee101 I'm also crossing everything for your lining and everything else to be perfect for your transfer day.
@ChristenMA83 It was nice to see that your results today were good and that your dr is covering all the bases and adjusting the meds according to the results. Checking for NK cells was one of the first tests DH requested our clinic as soon as we started our IVF journey last year. Though I was cleared with it, I'm also interested in having more tests so as to explain why I keep getting bfn's.
@Drove2u I have no advise about the PIO as I have no experience injecting myself yet, but I just want to wish you GL with it and say that I believe you can do it.
I am new to this group. I have found it very supportive to see that there are others out there who keep on going and share their experiences, it keeps up the hope. Im 41, ttc 3.5yrs and had my first embryo transfer 7/6/18. Due to my age the Dr. transferred 3 out of 4, it was a 3Day fresh transfer. 2yrs ago my previous RE attempted a FET but they did not make it to Day 5blast. Now for the 2ww. Going in AMH .40 / FSH 14

Chrysalis7 sorry you’re feeling crappy on the meds. I’ve never felt anything while being on any of the fertility drugs. Lucky I guess?? I also try not to think that I’m on them or taking them. Mind over matter maybe?? Probably not.

I also agree with you about people speaking up if either of us says something insensitive. I really try not to complain especially on these boards because I know that its hard. I also try not to complain in real life about having a child because I wanted it sooo badly and I’m just sooo grateful. And I’ll always be grateful even if these FET rounds don’t work.

becca07024411 sorry about your head cold. They’re the worst sometimes. So I’m not a doctor and I’m not recommending anything. But while I was pregnant about 3 months in I got so sick. Like needed antibiotics, lost my voice etc…I was really congested too and apparently besides being sick, congestion is a symptom from being pregnant. I never had anything else but that. I depended on Afrin. I asked the docs and they told me I shouldn’t be using it. I asked them if it’s going to harm the baby because of course, I would just suck it up then. And they told me no. I had to use afrin several times a day my entire pregnancy and the baby was perfectly healthy. Not telling you what to do just telling you my experience. But I think it’s pretty harmless.
suziev3 thank you! What’s weird too is even though I’m doubtful I was thinking even if I got a BFP I feel like we wouldn’t be excited because of everything we went through the first time. It’s a bit sad that we couldn’t celebrate until after the anatomy scan. That’s 5 months of worry!! And if this time works, it’ll probably be the same.
So transfer tomorrow morning! Eeeeek!! I bought Wondfos and will probably start testing Friday. I’m the worst. Ha!

DH bought a bag of moldable plastic (melts in hot water) and he's planning to make a cable out of it. I'm so scared that it'll bring out toxins that would be harmful for him, me and our implantation chance. I'm worried how to tell him these, he's bipolar and we're just recovering from a traumatic year-2017. Definitely I'll tell him my mind later tonight for the sake of this embie inside me now, but I'm worried, I get flashes of memories from his anxiety attacks from last year. Another thing that boggles my mind is why wouldn't he know these hazards? He's a scientist for crying out loud! Anyway, I'll talk to him about this, but what works well for you and your SO when you have this type of situation?
Update on this:
I just talked to him and he lectured me that it would be no problem and that my make up would pose more risk to me than his hobby and that I'd just have to avoid second hand smoke. Well, I'm glad I got this is off my chest, whew! But really? Plastic? Anyway, he knows much more about his Science than me, so I'll trust him with this and probably stay as far away from his work space when he starts his project.

@ndz2018 Getting delayed must be frustrating, but it sounds like you were on board with the decision. I know you have had a lot of tough breaks lately and August will be here so soon!
@tinjp78 I think you should be totally safe with the moldable plastic. Softening it in hot water is very different that if it was being completely burned and melted, but with this there shouldn’t be any fumes and nothing to breathe in. Most of all that stuff you are worried about it repeated long term exposures anyway.
@tinjp78 Glad you were able to talk things out! I'd be a little concerned too, but like you said, he's a scientist...so I'm sure he knows more than we do

AFM, blood draw went well and no call from nurse so that means no issues with hormone levels, so we are a go for 7/12. It’s starting to hit me now that this is really happening!!! Lining measured 11mm.

@becca07024411 - I wouldn't call them superstitions, but lay down, try not to move too much (even though they say you can). I have been taking a bunch of extra nutritional supplements so maybe that's a superstition since there's no way to tell if it really helps - zinc, vitamin d and e, bazil nuts, plenty of water, prenatal (of course), trying to keep diet healthy with power foods - nuts, fish, leafy greens, oats. You?
On the topic of TW, it doesn't bother me to see positive info and I'm cool if it's missing a TW or a spoiler box. Others may have more lengthy or difficult journeys that would weigh more on the psyche. Then again, this board is here so we can support each other so I come here knowing I will hear positive news. It's finding a balance between those. No right answer.
@leilee101 It's amazing how different each RE or clinic protocol is. I will get three blood draws in my TWW to confirm HGC is on the right path.
Symptoms/side effects - holy crap the Estrace and Crinone got me bloated, moody, irritable, tons of cramping and twinges. I'm getting full faster, but then I want to snack all the time.
AFM, I went in for lining check this morning and it was only 6.7mm. Still waiting on blood results (they only drew progesterone, I assumed estrogen too??) but guessing this sets me back a few days at least. This is my first FET but I RE said he likes it to be around 8. Grr. I know it’s just a few days (hopedully) but so annoying, why can’t things just go as planned? Just once..?
@kbear28 Happy PUPO! I agree, the estrogen is making me so bloated as well! I keep trying to avoid certain foods so doesn't make it worse. Guess we all have to get use to it when it all work out
@leilee101 They usually only draw progesterone to make sure you haven't ovulated. Sorry your lining isn't exactly where they want it. Maybe they can add i some extra estrogen in some form to help thicken it up faster. What CD are you on? I know for me a couple of days can make a big difference in thickness.

@leilee101 Sorry your lining isn't where they want it to be. My lining has never made it to an 8 and I still got a BFP on my first cycle, so it is possible. That said, hopefully you can thicken it up a little before transfer like ! @kristimh80 mentioned? Seems like a couple of days could do it .
@Drove2u Good luck! Wishing you sticky thoughts. Last cycle, I didn't touch a single HPT and felt like I was pregnant, but that ended up BFN. This cycle, I will just test to put my mind at ease.
@leilee101 My lining was also 6.6 mm on CD 13 and my doctor told me to add vaginal estrace twice a day on top of the oral estrace three times a day, and my lining went to 8.7 mm by CD 17. There was no delay in my transfer and it's scheduled for Monday 7/9. Good luck! The only other thing I did was drink pomegranate juice once a day for only 3 days. Who knows if that helped some.

and i I just started acupuncture last week. I went a couple times during my fresh cycle but it was community acupuncture and in a room full of other ppl, not relaxing at all. This time I went to a regular place and i enjoyed it much more. I’ll def be sticking with it for the next few weeks. She told me to eat lamb, chicken liver and chicken broth lol
ps. I asked to come in on 7/10 instead, bc DH has Monday’s off and mondays are the easiest day for me to take off, so FX for good lining on 7/10 for a 7/16 transfer

ChristenMA83 wow! That’s pretty great you guys all that checked out. Sorry some things are elevated but at least they can adjust your meds accordingly now.
So my “bed rest” yesterday didn’t work out so well. I bed rested for about a half hour and then just couldn’t do it anymore and went on with my day except that DH picked up DD the rest of the day and put her to bed. So I didn’t lift her at all yesterday. Today I was lifting her and went on as normal. Honestly, I feel like it’s either going to work or not and I don’t feel like bed rest is going to determine my success. I’m thinking of testing on Sunday.
I tried practicing PIO myself this morning. And I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t inject myself. I don’t know how I’m going to do this when I go away on Tuesday. Ugh. I even asked if I could get suppositories just for the 2 mornings I’m gone and they said no that PIO is the best thing to use. So tomorrow I’ll keep trying. I’m fine being injected, getting blood drawn etc I just can’t do it myself.
@Drove2u you will be able to do it!! I was the same way and then DH went out of town so I had no choice. I just drew it up and went for it. Try not to overthink it. Once I did it the first time, the others were no problem. Definitely just a mind game with me. Did you have your nurse draw circles on you? I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. They helped my husband too. Plus it’s super attractive having two circles on your back haha

It's quite uncomfortable showering with this but I badly needed those estrogen patches to stay on. Sometimes I had 4 patches on at the same time.
@leilee101 I'm also crossing everything for your lining and everything else to be perfect for your transfer day.
@ChristenMA83 It was nice to see that your results today were good and that your dr is covering all the
bases and adjusting the meds according to the results. Checking for NK cells was one of the first tests DH requested our clinic as soon as we started
our IVF journey last year. Though I was cleared with it, I'm also interested in having more tests so as to explain why I keep getting bfn's.
@Drove2u I have no advise about the PIO as I have no experience injecting myself yet, but I just want to wish you GL with it and say that I believe you can do it.
