@texas_t My DH is an Owen (but because his dad is Welsh, so after the last king). That’s why I like Bowen (“son of Owen” - so super literal) for a boy - even though this is a girl.

Think we finally landed on names!! Cody William for a boy. Maisie Felicity for a girl.
(I made a promise to my 92 yo grandmother 10 years ago to name any potential girls after her mom, Fay. Apparently there are not a lot of F names I’m crazy about so that was tough.)
It looks like we are pretty set with Hazel for a girl for so many reasons (family name, fits a theme with my name, means commander).
If it is a boy, my first choice is Caledon. I love it because it means Scotland, and it's a version of a character from one of my favorite series (Kaladin). However, it's not a common name at all. Is it too far out there?
DH prefers Victor for a boy. Im not opposed to it but I dont love it either. I get last say this time round bc my DH named our first.
We have two names picked out. Adelynn Marlene for a girl; (middle name is hubby's grandma's) and Finley Dale for a boy (Middle name is hubby's grandpa's). Haven't found any other names we like or that fit better. Don't find out sex of baby until my 21 week appointment. So far away.
@rocketmom88 how do you pronounce Caledon? I’m more familiar with Caledonia, but thought of it immediately (and to me it’s synonymous with Scotland), I’m just not sure how to say it the masculine form of the name.
@katy0990 +1 for Elliott Thomas. Fewer repeating letters, and it just flows better to my ears.

Ugh, this thread gives me anxiety! I’m having such a hard time naming this kiddo... I’ve used all the boy name combos I could possibly think of .
we have a few things we’re throwing around:
middle name: possibly Everett..
first names: Caleb, Collin, Liam, Cade/Caden. We really like Gavin but unfortunately one of the neighbor’s kid’s name is Gavin and he’s a bit of a psycho so it ruined it for us. I loved Elliott but we have an Elijah already so I think it’s too close.
@kadeephd i went to high school with a Norwegian boy and we even went to homecoming together one year. His name was Stian, pronounced Stee-ahn. I always thought it was a really cool name.
His last name was crazy, Aune. Pronounced ahh-oohn-ah

@krob I have not come across that one! Thanks for sharing. I do kinda like it... have to let it roll around in my head for a few days. There is a tradition of S names for the first-born on my dad's side of the family -- there were like 8 generations of Syvert before my dad was named Stephen and my brother Scott. My brother has a baby on the way too so I was going to let him take care of the S name... but this would work for that too!
@clawbaby1202 I love Emma and Parker and Declan are cute, too. I think it is hard to find more traditional boys names that are not overused, and those definitely qualify.
Guys—I try not to side eye what people name their kids because really what does it have to do with me. But someone on my Facebook has named her child Asholee. I’m sure it’s supposed to be pronounced “Ashley” but it just looks like your kid’s name is Asshole.
We recently found out we are having our 3rd boy! His name will be Oliver Allen. We have just been calling him "Baby Ollie"

We're having a girl though, so coming up with other options. Right now, we're thinking about Juniper. My husband is half Middle Eastern and "joon" is a common Farsi word to put with a name to mean "dear" or "dear one". So we love the idea of having her nickname be "June joon." (They're pronounced basically the same.) We both think that would be super cute. But, we're just thinking about it right now since it is more of an uncommon name. And we don't want super common names either, but names are tough! The kid is going to be stuck with it!
We're pretty set on Henry for a boy (after my grandfather Harry and my husband's uncle Heinrich who just passed away). Elliott for a middle name.
For a girl we're going with Charlotte (after my father, grandfather, and 2 of my great grandfathers...all Charles). Joy for a middle name. Probably Carly for a nickname.
We're pretty decisive on names and pick pretty early.
*still shaking my head about Asshole, AHEM, Asholee*
ETA: if my parents gave me a name with such heinous spelling I would have legally changed it ASAP. Imagine all of the hiring managers laughing too!

@MDKC14 my votes are for Lucas or Elizabeth since they are mine and my H's names
H and I are leaning towards Christian at this point but we aren't going to decide until we see the baby. H wants Christian Lucas but our due date is right around both of our late grandfathers' birthdays so if the baby happens to be born on either of those days we may go with Francis or James as the middle name in their honor.

@rocketmom88 I love Caledon, but that could be because I'm partial to the name Caleb. Nickname could be Cal, which I also love.
