@mccurleya Declan did the same thing last night. He slept from 9:30 to 4:45 and I woke up and had to put my finger under his nose to see if he was still breathing.
He was purple crying before he went to sleep last night and we couldn’t figure out anything wrong- it’s so scary feeling. After half an hour I flipped him on his belly and help the paci with one hand and held his body up with the other and he finallly calmed down.

@megpeg I had to do that the other night too. He's been so fussy lately. Maybe all that fussiness wore our babies out!

@megpeg @mccurleya that worked for us too - I held her with her tummy across my legs and she calmed down.
@slr1229 - I go back in a week (3 days a week for another month) and I know it will be hard...especially days we’re slow because I’ll keep thinking I could be home with the baby. Good luck when you go back!

I believe Nate's gas has finally subsided! He only woke once again last night to feed. But now he's starting to spit up after eating. I will figure this baby out one day.

My nine year old has his first track meet today. It’s only 40 degrees here. DH has to work so I am trying to figure out what to put Declan in to keep him warm. A carrier would be ideal but he usually hates them.

@megpeg   Layers layers layers! It's 95 degrees here so I can't take Nate to the football game.

He ended up in jammies and a fleece bear suit with a blanket and then blankets covering his stroller. He was never cold. The track meet however was 7 hours and I wasn’t smart enough to put my pump in the car.

Baby got his shots today  :'( He screamed so loud.....my mother was with us and she cried. I contained myself because I didn't want him to sense me upset! Ugh. This afternoon he cried uncontrollably for a good 10 mins but then relaxed. Slept on and off...ate fine. He has lots of gas poor thing. He is now sleeping and I hope he has a good night. We shall see.

@nancysimp we did shots today too. He only cried for a second until I got a bottle in his mouth.
HELP- Moms with older kids have you had any issues with lashing out? My 4-will be 5 tomorrow year old is peeing in random spots- her closet, her rain boot, her dress boot, the floor, her trash can, a Tupperware container... are where I know about. It happened before Declan was born too but when I was pregnant. Any thoughts?

@megpeg that sounds tough.  When my kids act out it's usually just tantrums or bad attitudes.  I'd maybe speak to the pedi about this.  It could just be curiosity or it could be something else.

What do y'all do if baby gets a hair in their eye?
  • Options
    @mccurleya

We found one today too. We don't do anything about it. It doesn't seem to bother him at all.

@mccurleya Jeffrey had a hair in his eye last week and we tried to get it out but couldn’t. It didn’t seem to bother him at all so he just left it and assumed he would cry it out during his next crying spell.

I am 3 months postpartum on Saturday and I just got a period today. I thought that if you were breastfeeding, that you didn't get a period until you were done? But I know everyone is different. Can anyone tell me if they've had this before? I have a Dr. apt coming up in June but I'm just a little thrown off by it. And plus also, I forgot what a period felt like lol. It's been 358 days since my last one, according to my tracking app.

@crossfitbabybump It is different for everyone. A few friends got theirs back around 4 or 6 or 8 weeks postpartum while breastfeeding. Some get it back when they night wean. I didn't get mine back with DD until I started weaning.

@crossfitbabybump I got mine a few days ago 9 weeks PP and still breastfeeding.  I was very disappointed lol

thanks ladies! so it doesn't mean my breast milk will cease to come in?
  • Options
I have now conceived three babies while breastfeeding, so nursing doesn't always keep your period away.

oh that stinks @crossfitbabybump!   My first it came back at 6 weeks and my second was 10.5 months.

On a separate note I just trimmed all of Charlie’s nails for the first time.  It’s only 7:30 but after that delicate task of and no injuries - I think I need to be done for the day!   :D:D:D:D

10 week old hasn’t pooped in 3 days.  Lots of pee diapers and is happy.  Doing leg exercises but so far nothing!  It’s going to be a mess!

Do we have any European mamas?  I have noticed on IG that the carseats don't have chest clips.  Why is that?

We had a few hours of severe thunderstorms last night, the sky looked like a stobe light there was so much lightening. I was just getting home from an evening clinical rotation when it was starting at about 10pm.  Of course, we lost power.  We kept getting emails saying "your power will be on at 2am" then 4 am, then 6am.  We FINALLY got power at 545am after nearly 8hours.  I had to throw out the breast milk I had in the fridge but the freezer stash luckily stayed frozen.

Apparently we were 1 of only 20 houses without power and both our neighbors had power the whole night. I was irrationally mad about that all night in my head like  "of course the family with a baby has no power,  but the single neighbors are fine".  At least the temp dropped into the 60's as the storm blew in so our house wasn't a toaster oven all night.

@sgrn18 that sucks...must have been very annoying to see the expected time change over and over again. Not fun.
  • Options
That sucks!  Glad the freezer stash made it.

Glad your freezer stash survived that chaos! I got offered a job today in the county we're moving to. I'm so excited!!

    Annoyed.

I got a call from a resort that was offering a 2 nights 3 days promotion now that they renovated their facilities. The catch is you must go on a 90 minute tour of the grounds. Ok...so I've heard of this before and we are not interested in time share especially now...but we would attend because the promotion is a really good price.

Problem: no babies or children allowed during the tour. I told the lady on the phone that my babe is 2 months old and I feed on demand. Can they make an exception? He can't run around obviously and most likely will sleep, and I would wear him. The call was on a Friday and she said she needs to ask management on Monday. Monday comes along and the response is NO...they have 2 experienced women available for babysitting and they don't want any children during the tour to avoid any disruptions. I was very annoyed...and expressed his age again and that he feeds on demand and the ladies can't give him milk. That's fine, I had to decline the promotion.

Now....am I being too sensitive, am I wrong, but I find this to be almost on the verge of discrimination...we are allowed to publicly breastfeed in today's society and here I have a company telling me I cannot be with my baby for 1.5 hours even if he's hungry IF I want to enjoy their promotion. I find it offputting, even though I can see their right to worry about disruption which could affect the purchase of timeshares from others. Others may be focusing on my crying baby for example (therefore can't hear the tour presenter), or I may have to stop to feed and then catch up (me missing pieces of the tour). I get it..but it just wasn't sitting right. My DH was also on vacation the week of the promotion so I guess that's why it bothers me too. Oh well...we will have other opportunities.

I think you have every right to be upset. That's frustrating.
  • Options
That is frustrating.  I don't think they are telling you that you can't breastfeed, they are saying kids are not allowed on the tour.  It's just like at my work kids are not allowed in certain areas.  It's unfortunate that they can't make an exception, but the reality is that kids are just not welcome everywhere.
