@smsaulino I feel you. I still have a pair of non mat work pants that I'm wearing. I've been surprised that I've been able to keep wearing some non maternity clothes this long. Most of my shirts no longer work because they're too short though.
An average can of Pringles has 6 servings of chips in it. Or one serving that can be inhaled in approximately 3 minutes flat if your toddlers' nap time is a complete shitshow. I also ate a cookie. I want more cookies. Why can't eating my feelings ever be like, "gah!!! I'm so frustrated with this and you and that!!! I'm going to eat this whole carrot, 1 tablespoon of unsalted nuts, 2 pieces of celery and drink 8 ounces of water!!! Don't try to stop me!!! And I don't care what you or anyone else says I'm putting a slice of lemon in my water too!"
@stothi Haha that would be nice if our bodies would crave those things when we were upset. Instead I crave entire bottles of wine, entire bags of popcorn, and ice cream.
My staging went better than expected! Yay for my amazing intern. Before and after in spoiler. Now H and I are heading to Mean Girl trivia. It’s so weird to be going out on a weeknight, Haha.
We’re having furniture delivered later this week and I just spent 45 minutes clearing everything out of the room by myself so the delivery guys will have room to put the new stuff. I think I may have over done it. Oops. Hopefully a hot shower and going to bed early will help my back feel better.
Work has been very hectic. I have already worked 14 hours today and I am still working. It feels like it should be Thursday or at the very least Wednesday so it is sad to think I have three more work days. Also, one of my clients I haven’t told about my pregnancy has said in the last two weeks that they don’t feel like they are a priority and that I am too busy for them. I have 14 hours of meetings with them or about them and then the 250 emails I have sent/received relating to them or from them in the last two days!! I’m nervous to tell them I am pregnant and frustrated that they feel they aren’t getting enough of me because I don’t think I can possibly give them more.
@klj0228 that sounds really stressful. I know it'll probably be a relief once you tell them you're pregnant, but it's tricky trying to manage that in the mean time. How upfront can you be with them? I'd look to see if there is anything in particular that they're looking for from you that you're missing and that's why they're speaking out, not that you aren't giving them enough. Maybe that advice isn't applicable at all to what you do in which case sorry I couldn't help more. Hugs!
@nlc8424 I actually have asked them directly and they have said that it really has nothing to do with me. They can tell I am responsive, but they feel that our organization doesn’t value them. Unfortunately, many of our departments are 1 or 2 person teams and we have 100 clients all asking for things so some things do take time. It has just become really stressful the last couple weeks. This client goes through phases of happy and then feeling like they aren’t getting enough. It will be over in a few weeks and they will be in a good mood again. Just have to wait for that time to come and be as accommodating as possible.
@SkilledSailor that looks amazing! Loving that coffee table.
@klj0228 could you maybe send them those stats or sit down with them and mention those meetings/emails and see where they think it’s lacking?
Husband came home early from work with a 102 fever. Grrrrrrr. I can’t expect deserts when he’s sick. However, he tried to argue that his scraps equaled one piece! Ha! I told him he’s not off the hook and he’ll be buying me awesome desert as soon as he feels better. He wisely agreed!
Anyone else still not done anything for the new arrival? I’m hoping to have furniture for baby ordered this weekend. Feeling so behind! Child still needs a name too.
@Lcardinal04 we haven't done a single thing either, but pretty sure we've picked a name. It's becoming a tad stressful between that and planning DS's second birthday party (one month from now!). I had mentioned this in the nursery post but we'll be moving DS into the second room and keeping the nursery the same, but have yet to clean out the second room. So.... we've got a lot to do haha.
We basically haven’t done anything either. Waiting to finish a renovation, and in the meantime we’re sleeping in the room that’ll be the nursery! So we haven’t bought anything, never mind put anything up. And we just shared name lists with each other yesterday for the first time, so we're far off on that too! I’m not worried though. Renovation should be done in a few weeks, and I feel like I’ve thought out everything we need.
@klj0228 *hugs* That sounds like a very stressful work environment right now. It sounds like you're doing the best you can and that really, the company just needs to hire some more people. They clearly have the workload/clients to support that.
@lcardinal04 Thank you! I'm pretty sure that table set is from Target. We haven't done tons for LO yet. I still need to finish painting that room and we haven't bought any of the nursery furniture. I'm trying to get it all done by early June because I'm already having trouble moving around and don't want H to do it all by himself later on. We did move all of H's stuff out of the room this past weekend, which was a big project in itself.
@Lcardinal04 ive been so focused on the basement renovation that we haven’t done anything either. We haven’t started cleaning out the room for the new nursery, picked a name, or bought a single thing. All I’ve managed so far is setting up the registry. But my mom mentioned she was going to try to get to buy buy baby this week to buy us the furniture we want, so yay! It takes a few weeks for them to deliver it though.
@Lcardinal04 We have not bought a thing for the baby yet. I have sort of started a registry (but it’s really hard for me to decide on things!) We have half of the name. Our 2nd bedroom was my H’s workshop and he has been working hard on moving everything out of there to a new workspace. The room is slowly getting closer to being empty. Then he is going to replace the floors and paint. Then, I hope the nesting thing with take over me! We hope to have the room set up as a nursery/guest room by late July (when we have friends coming to visit). So, we have a plan, but are not very far into it yet! It’s so comforting to hear that I’m not the only one who hasn’t bought anything for the baby!
@magnolia209 I don’t even really plan to start to buy anything until I get my registry completion coupon from Amazon in July. I’m hoping the furniture my mom is buying gets here by then so I can just put stuff away immediately instead of loading the room up with boxes.
@Lcardinal04 nope. Nothing done yet over here. No name either and I think honestly that bothers me the most. My firstborn had his name about 30 seconds after we find out he was a he. I've known that this one is a boy for 10+ weeks and we can't come up with anything. I've picked up half a dozen random articles of clothing for him and a lovey. Just if I saw something cute when I was already at the store. I have a very half assed registry going so I can add stuff as I think of things and we spent one day last weekend starting to clean out extra stuff from the house to start making room. That's it. No name, no room, no furniture, no significant amount of clothes or diapers or supplies of any kind. I may or may not be a bit stressed...
@nackie That's a good point! Having a place for everything first will be helpful.
We have a few sets of friends who have told us that they have lots of gently used baby things to give us (they have alluded to bassinets, strollers, etc). But, I don't know exactly what anyone plans to give, so I am not counting on anyone and researching everything and pretending we will have to buy it all ourselves. It's super hard!
I'm trying to have my registry completed by early June because my boss is throwing me a work baby shower then and she asked me for my registry. I made her promise not to share it with anyone unless they asked for it. I do not want people at work to feel like they have to get me something (but totally happy that my boss is getting me something and throwing the shower. She is awesome and being very supportive.).
You ladies make me feel so much better!! I was stressing over it last night and this morning.
I did go to buy buy baby and found out the furniture set we looked at is only 6 weeks out from delivery, which is amazing! I thought it would be longer.
@SkilledSailor I completely understand wanting to have it done early. Being able to move around comfortable won’t last forever.
@stothi I feel the same. DD was named easily and name announced by 17 weeks. Not having a name just causes me anxiety. We have a short list but that’s it.
@Lcardinal04 the only name we both like is the name of one of our pets!!! Argh!!! Hubby thinks we should just do it and doesn't think it would be awkward at all. Or that we should just rename our 4 year old pet. I think it's a terrible idea!!! Buuuuut.... It's also the only name we both really like.... Namey McNamey #thepersonnotthepet #itsnotawkward
@stothi that sounds like it would be very confusing for everyone involved. DH and I haven’t even been able to come up with a short list yet. I’m starting to stress about that.
@nackie that's what I think but my husband has a way of saying it that makes it sound completely reasonable. He really thinks it's totally fine! I think it's crazy.
So this is crazy to me... I have a hair appointment this weekend (I'll be 23 weeks Sunday) and I schedule my appointments every 8 weeks, I may or may not schedule my last appointment since I'll be like 39ish weeks. WHAT?!
Thanks everyone! We are doing what we can to meet the clients needs. We are also trying to make sure they feel as important to us as they are. Working on some outreach opportunities.
@Lcardinal04 we have not had any conversations about name and have done very little for preparing aside from registering and painting only because we put a new wall up in there so we had to paint.
@stothi agree that could be confusing for lots of people. You could always then tell your child it was named after the pet. I’m sure your oldest son would take advantage of that frequently as they grow up.
@nlc8424 maybe go at 6 weeks instead of 8 for your last appointment. I think it would be even harder to go after the baby, but I could be wrong.
@Klj0228 yeah I probably will especially since those first few weeks are hectic, my birthday is September 6th and I'd like to feel some semblance of pretty before life gets turned upside down.
@nlc8424 Ahh! I'm trying to plan ahead too and get my appointments taken care of before baby arrives because I know I won't want to do it after he's here!
Me: 32 DH: 32 BFP #1: 1/23/2012 DD: Born 9/20/2012 BFP #2: 12/30/2017 DS: Due 9/10/2018
@nlc8424 I'll be kinda mushing my appointments a bit to try and get my hair looking good as close to the estimated due date as possible. I go every 8 weeks too and think I'll be doing one 6 week between appointments for maternity/family pictures and then another 4-6 week between appointments before estimated due date. That short one might not be enough time for my roots to grow out enough to be lightened, but she should be able to touch up my red and I'll just have darker but still kinda red roots with my normal bright red the rest of the way down. If I can I want to get another Brazilian blowout at that last appointment so it's easier to wash and dry my hair after the baby comes and time is at a premium. Or maybe I'll just shave my head. We'll see. Last time my husband actually did just shave his head. I was jealous AF.
@stothi I went to an Ulta for my last appointment since I’m salon shopping right now and they told me about some new treatment that is better than Brazilian blowout and is some sort of protein straightening system? I could be wrong. I was told it lasts 6-8 months. That sounds to good to be true. Have you heard of this? I should have asked more questions but at the time just wanted to get my hair done in peace and quiet and GTFO.
My hair is wild and bonkers. It takes me a long time to detangle in the shower. I wear it long and curly. I also get it colored every 8 weeks. Magically, my color appointments have worked out perfectly for me to have my last color appointment (before baby) in late August. The next one will be in late October and I hope that I will be happy to get out of the house for a hair appoinment at that time! I made my stylist promise never to let me get a sensible or more practical hair cut. It's just that my hair will never be easy. When it's long, I can at least put it in hair jail (a pony tail or bun on top of my head). I don't go for a Brazilian blowout or anything like that because I just look so different with straight hair. And, it's still hard for me to manage! Curly - I just let it air dry.
@magnolia209 my hair is curly-ish, but like a weak wavy half assed curl. It air dries just frizzy and puffy and not cute For me with the blowout it air dries to an almost straight gentle kinda wave. If I actually blow-dry it then it looks pretty darn good!
@Wishilivedinflorida I have not heard of this new treatment. I shall ask though!
Random story time- I did a bunch of yard work this morning. Well, as much as I could while still "taking it easy." I was a sweaty mess when I came in and needed to sit and drink water before I could work up the energy to go shower. So I took all my clothes off and threw a towel over my chair so I could just lounge naked for a bit. When I was ready to go shower I got up and noticed a couple of things that needed to be cleaned real quick. Cue my husband entering the room. He starts chuckling at the sight of his naked pregnant wife cleaning. I told him, "hey, don't laugh. This has got to be somebody's fantasy. You know someone somewhere would pay good money to see this..." Then I tossed in a belly rub and a wiggle and he completely lost it laughing his ass off, lol.
@Lcardinal04 I’ve done nothing. Really all I’m planning on getting is a double stroller and the nursery won’t be done until after he arrives when the addition is made to our house (which will probably be for DD, but maybe our master). My sister has all our gender neutral clothes plus tons I bought for my nephew so we’ll get those back. She needs to get a convertible car seat (likely on prime day) so we can have our infant seat back. Everything else we’re reusing from DD and it’s all in her closet or around our house anyway. We have a short list for names which was very difficult to do, but I think we’ll decide on his name from those 3 after he’s born.
Another day of limited mobility has me in a crappy mood. Poor toddler is bored because I can't do anything with her or even take her anywhere. I feel so useless, I couldn't even think of anything we need to buy on Amazon. lol. Really hope this pain lets up and/or they have some suggestions at my appointment tomorrow so I can stop being an irritable slug. *Bitch, bitch, moan, moan* Sorry, I'll try to have something different to bore y'all with soon!
My bff just had a baby boy!!!!!!!! I'm so exited!!!!!
I was told by SIL that apparently everyone she knows is also having a boy this year. I was sort of hoping for another girl but I guess having a boy to match everyone else would be fun too.
@stothi you convinced me to try a Brazilian blow out! I’m getting one next Monday before I travel for the week. It sounds like my natural hair texture is similar to yours so hopefully it will calm down the frizz.
@klj0228 it's my saving grace to not look like a complete mess 24/7. For future reference, typically about 3-4 months after baby is born and your hormone levels shift again, a lot of your hair falls out. It's messy and annoying, but no big deal, it grows back. Buuuuut.. Then you have these shorter, sometimes curlier hairs sticking out and I find that to be really annoying! A blowout helps smooth those bad boys down and makes the grow out transition so much easier. I will definitely be budgeting some postpartum beauty dollars for getting a blowout sometime between 4 & 6 months after the arrival of this baby.
@stothi Good point! I still have wispy hairs regrowing in from post-DS shedding that don’t stay down even with the flat iron. I can’t imagine I’ll have time to do much with my hair with two kids running around. I need to look into this more. I have the same type of hair texture as you describe.
@stothi and @Wishilivedinflorida wispy hairs is the story of my life. I've lost and regrown so much hair after pregnancy and also due to thyroid fluctuations, it looks pretty wild at times. My hair is really fine though so I hesitate to use anything that would weigh it down. Has anyone tried a body wave perm? My hair is wavy and I'm so low maintenance that I typically just comb my hair after my shower and go, I rarely blow dry it straight or use a diffuser with gel. I'd love for it to look a little better naturally. Any experiences?
Re: Randoms!! ...weeks of 5/14 & 5/21
@nlc8424 That does sound like a good day!
@stothi Haha that would be nice if our bodies would crave those things when we were upset. Instead I crave entire bottles of wine, entire bags of popcorn, and ice cream.
