@runrinserepeat glad you got better news than you might have expected about your mom! Regarding DH finding out and you staying team green....that sounds insanely hard. I think my husband would tease me about him knowing thinking it was funny and my pregnancy hormones would send me into a blind rage....lol. I think staying on the same team is the best bet... and if he knows he might tell other people and then there is this whole circle that might know while you don't! But I'd be interested to hear if other people have made this work! Although DH is pretty content being team green with me.
**I tried to find a gif of Jackson from Gilmore Girls who was team green and had buttons about not wanting to know the sex, but I couldn't find one.... really need to up my gif game**
@nerdeebird I just spent way too much time in the middle of the night scouring the internet for an image of Jackson and his button and came up with nothing!
Thursdays are my ME day. DD is at nursery 9:30-2:30 and I'll work from home. I usually like to nap an hour or so before I go get her.... like, now. But I am so enthralled diving into these threads, learning about y'all! First world problems.
So my child sleeps with a legit disco ball on instead of a nightlight, and it's noisy AF as it's spinning. That usually bothers me but she slept through last night's loud, lightning-y storms like a freaking dream and I'm pretty sure it's because she's accustomed to lots of noise and flashing lights while she's sleeping. Disco FTW!
Mother's Day is coming up... you're all mothers or expecting at the very least... why should I get you a membership for Dollar Shave Club? Dollar Shave Club thinks it's the perfect idea. They also think you need shampoo and conditioner, is this all true? According to the email they sent it is.
there are two motivations in sports, which is yours?
@coybig from what i understand (this is my first time around), i won't even be able to reach my legs in a few months! Maybe a gift cert to the waxing salon would be a better investment

I mean, I'm sure most moms would be grateful to have their husband's personal commentary on their hygiene neatly giftwrapped and presented to them, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna snap at my husband for suggesting that my personal grooming habits aren't up to par. I am gestating a fetus over here. I have more important things to worry about than a little leg stubble.
Much safer to stick with, like, a new Swiffer or a vacuum cleaner or something.

IDK you well enough to know whether this is a joke or not, @AGK2015. I'd laugh in my husband's face if he got me a swiffer or a vacuum cleaner. I mean, first, he does 95% of the cleaning around our house. Second, gifts should be for something fun. And third, I'd find it hugely condescending.
Stick with a nice brunch, flowers, and maybe a cute onesie or something, @coybig.

Don't worry, it's definitely a joke, @runrinserepeat. I did get an Instant Pot for my birthday one year to replace the rice cooker I cooked holes through, but that was something I was genuinely excited about. No vaccuum cleaners here; my husband values his survival too much.
@coybig I agree with @runrinserepeat's suggestions. Unless she's been complaining about her current razor or shown interest in the Dollar Shave Club, don't do that. Is there anything you can think of that she's been wanting or would love to have? It doesn't have to be anything big for Mother's Day. For my DH for Father's Day last year I got him the movie Cats Don't Dance, because he'd been talking about wanting it for months, but he never buys himself things and it was hard to find. Mother's/Father's Day in my opinion aren't "big gift" holidays.
Speaking of bad gifts between husbands and wives, I still laugh over this vintage ad I saw forever ago where a like, 1950's era husband got his wife...a scale. To weigh herself on. For CHRISTMAS. I was like, I hope the next panel in the ad was her leaving him because WTF, haha.
@coybig I don’t know a whole lot about the dollar shave club specifically but I think part of the appeal is that “men’s” products are generally better quality and less expensive. Have you looked at the price of Venus razors compared to whatever the men’s equivalent is? (Which idk a name of off the top of my head).
Another example, my SO & I were both buying body wash one day and his dove “for men” was half the price of the dove “for women”. I grabbed a men’s body wash. He asked why and I said, “because this one is $4 and that one is $8. It’s all just body wash”.
I don't know that hygiene/personal care would be a good mother’s Day gift. I think that depends on the gift recipient. I personally don’t plan to celebrate Mother’s Day in any traditional way because the true meaning of it is lost in hallmark gift giving nonsense (another UO for the day). It’s supposed to be a political day of action.
I’ve always loved doing stuff for my mom on Mother’s Day. But since having my own, I’m over it but still feel obligated to do SOMEthing for her. (That sounds mean.) I ordered her some cute sandals today and we’ll probably go to Mass together. ETA - that sounded REALLY mean hahaha I mean in the sense that now that I am a mom, I don’t like people making a fuss over me, so I’m now over it.
For me? We’re going to my favorite brunch place the day before the holiday. And this past weekend we went to Home Depot, DH bought a bunch of stuff and we did front yard work. I told him that was my present.
Don't worry, I already had a few ideas not even remotely related to razors. I just found it really amusing that Dollar Shave Club would really think this would be a good idea.

@runrinserepeat glad to hear your mom’s treatment is moving forward.
Re: letting your husband find out the gender and staying TG yourself — that sounds wayyy harder than trying to let my MIL keep TG status when we knew. Can’t tell you how many times we nearly slipped up.
@Jens_Hoes yes! Me too- i've been eating butter lettuce the last couple of weeks, but it is not the same! And there is still a lot of in the store- wtf?
Ok so MH and I will sometimes stop in to open houses in our neighborhood, just to see what's available. We haven't been actively looking to move but know we will need to in the next few years. So yesterday I got an email from a realtor we met last year at an open house. She has a client looking to downsize and move to our area- and was wondering if we'd be willing to show our house!!! Soooooooooo now we are meeting with her on sunday and may be starting to house hunt. Geesh i do not know if i'm ready for this on top of being pg.
@texas_t it is! And scary lol. I am already concerned about money with a new baby, so a new house will be an extra expense but im sure we will make it work.
Good luck, @morgantu! I'd love to move right now, but there just isn't a house that I love enough to make the leap. I feel like that's still a few years in the future for us at this point, but I hope you guys can get it settled soon!
@morgantu We just moved in December of 2016 and were intending on staying here a while, but then we found out we are having 2, and now we're thinking about moving our timeline up!!! We've looked around some, but I don't think we'll pull the trigger for a couple of more years. Our house is 1900 sqft, but only has 3 bedrooms. I don't mind a couple of the kids sharing a room, I'm just concerned about how much stuff we'll have an where in the world to put it!! I can live vicariously through you in the meantime!
@runrinserepeat that's how i feel too though. i LOOOOVE our house now, but it's only 900sqft so i know it's not big enough for more than us and a baby. But I don't want to rush into things with a new house either because we planned for our next house to be our "forever home". I just don't want to get pressured into a sale because this other lady likes my house.
