I made a huge pot of super delicious French onion soup on Saturday night and forgot to put it in the fridge before bedtime. It's now sitting in the fridge while I internally argue with myself over what to do with it.  My brain says "just throw it out, you idiot." While my heart says "but...  *sob*...  but... *sob*". I may cry while dumping it down the drain...

Also, DYING for this brown spotting to go away that's been bugging me for the last 4-5 days.

My son slept over my mom’s house last night and it was the first night that I was home without him. Any other time I’ve slept somewhere without him, it’s becayse I’ve been away. It’s weird to have it the other way around!
today they’re going to the zoo and I’m happy that he gets a fun mom-mom day while I work and my husband stays home with what I think is the flu (I had it 2 weeks ago).
  • It's the beginning of another work week. Yay.

  • @hkom yeah and if you heat it up nice and hot, will that kill any bugs?

I would totally eat it.  I'd just heat it up and let it boil for a while.

I have felt pretty good the last four or five days, but today I feel terrible again.  I have a paper due at 5pm and I can't bring myself to work on it.  Ugh.  I can't wait until the semester is over a week from today.

  • Echoing @texas_t, beginning of another work week.

Though we are mailing an announcement bottle of wine to my mom, so she'll hopefully get it this week! Then telling DHs parents over the weekend, so FINALLY my MIL can SHUT THE HELL UP!!!! I think I've ranted before that she asks or tells us to make another baby every time we talk/see her, it's effing annoying. I promise I love her to death!

  • @mittenlove86 How fun! Our next door neighbor is pregnant with her first and I’m so excited to bond with her over our pregnancies and babes. We told them when they were here for supper on Saturday and they basically screamed with excitement  We’re both fairly new to the area, so it’s nice to be connecting.

  • @CecilB93 People like that really just need to think before they speak. You never know what someone is going through with this stuff. I was lucky with my mil as she was pressured early in her marriage to get pregnant and swore she would never do that. She never ever mentioned grandkids until I said I was pregnant. I honestly wasn’t sure if she would be excited because she never brought it up! But she definitely was. Anyway, hope your mil can take a chill pill once she knows.

  • @cecilb93 @rosebud332 My MIL was great the whole time i have known her, never once mentioned grandkids. Then as soon a we told her we were pg, she said we "fulfilled her life's dream" and that it's the greatest gift we could ever give her. I'm like... Uh lady..... this is not really about you. lol, but at least she's excited?
  • My mom (who doesn’t know yet) has been making comments about how she wished she’d never stopped having kids and how she wished she’d just had one more. She tries to be subtle but she isn’t. It’s adorable. When I was barely pregnant with my second she kept telling me how two was the perfect number of kids, lol. Yes, mother, you’re coming in loud and clear.

  • @morgantu Haha that’s basically how my mil reacted. Lots of dramatic tears! Lol But she has been a great grandma to my first so I can’t complain.

  • @CecilB93 my mother-in-law is the exact same way! Anytime we see her it's always "when are you guys going to have another?!" Or "you guys should have another baby" or "you need a little girl" we have to boys already so, like we can control that type of thing. We had a family birthday party the weekend after we found out and listening to everyone question when another baby was coming was semi-comical. We just kept saying "not anytime soon"
  • My motivation to do anything tanked with my BFP, but I'm trying hard to get my life back on track. I just went through my inbox and unsubscribed from all the junk that keeps overwhelming me, so...progress? Actually it's the sort of wheel-spinny progress that I don't need to be doing. What I *need* to be doing is balancing the finances. It just. It takes time. Especially when I let it build up like I keep doing.

    SOMEBODY HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE.

@PensiveCrayon My motivation tanked as well.  One of our spare bedrooms is an "office" and anything I don't want to deal with putting away I just pile up in there.  It's awful and actually going in there to purge everything is so daunting, so I just continue to pile.

    BabyFruit Ticker

  • @PensiveCrayon Not only has my motivation tanked, I'm just very...depressed? And I feel ill equipped to handle challenges? Like, work has been incredibly difficult lately, with poor management, constant changes and a very demanding workload, and my response has been...just quiet dread? Sadness? I feel like normally I would be very much "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" blah blah blah, or speak up about the problems, but I just do not have the ability to have that attitude right now. Ugh. At least I work freelance and this job is over in 8 weeks (not that I'm counting.)
  • @texas_t :D The candied ginger is medicinal!  That's what I've been telling myself anyway...

  • @texas_t The struggle is real.

Still haven't done my finances because the babe woke up early from his first nap. Blahhhhh. Glad I'm not the only one though. Not that it's good to feel this way at all!

To end on a high note, H is flying nights this week, which means I get him in the morning and into the afternoon, and then I get my entire evening freeeeee! It's sort of the best.

  • We have an appointment with some nurse tomorrow to do blood work for our life insurance policies. She asked us to fast for 4 hours prior, unless we were diabetic or pregnant. H told her I was pregnant and she said I could eat as usual tomorrow but only health and drink twice the water.
    1. nothing healthy sounds appealing.
    2. I have been drinking basically zero water since it makes me want to throw up.
If my rates go up because I can't manage her instructions I'm going to be so pissed.
  • @rosebud332 yea I don't have high hopes for her taking a chill pill, once we tell her all we'll hear is "I hope it's a girl!". Which we do too, but she'll go overboard with comments. And if it's not a girl, I'm sure she'll make comments about how we need to try for another, which I want to but DH doesn't. Honestly, if she makes comments again after this kid about having a third, I'm going to (hopefully) politely tell her to STFU.

@morgantu yes to "fulfilling her life's dream" lol.

@PensiveCrayon oooo so jealous of your upcoming free nights!! I'd love some peace and quiet lol.

  • @kristah2
would you be able to retake the blood test after the first trimester?
  • @Jens_Hoes unfortunately not. This is the meeting that will determine our rates etc. Only other option would be to wait to get the policy set up until later but we are travelling alone (without DS) in a couple of weeks and we want to have everything in order in case something happens.
  • So, here in Brazil tomorrow is a holiday and I’m not working today! But I’m so tired and nauseated that I just wanna sleep. Also, now I really want @texas_t to send me some of her groceries :)

  • @kristah2 I was just saying to my husband that now that we are expecting we really need to get life insurance.  I didn't realize there were blood tests involved!

I am wearing my skinny jeans today and they are so. tight.  They were already pretty uncomfortably tight before I got pregnant.  I am worried I'll never be able to get into them again, so I'm trying to get some use out of them while I can!  I don't know why I'm doing this as it's not comfortable.

We just got ours as well and we had to go for basically a full physical plus blood and pee tests!

Same. I'm living on La Croix right now and don't care how hipster it is. I'm chugging Berry, but Lemon is my favorite bae.

    Re: Mothers-in-law
DH and I are lucky x4. Our mothers and step-mothers haven't talked about us having kids EVER. DH has a nephew, so his parents have been grandparents for several years. My parents on the other hand are not yet grandparents and might flip out. I'm afraid that my mom will come "help" when the baby's here. That will be an unmitigated disaster.

@PensiveCrayon I miss night flights! MH is TDY right meow and can't help me with a pimple on the side of my head. Ugh.

  • @echo-charlietango I mean, TDYs are nice too, except when they can't help with important things like unreachable pimples.  Plus I never mind them because it's always a great way of reminding me how much I like having him around.

  • Ladies - had my first Dr. appt today ... according to LMP I’m 9w2d. I really wanted an ultrasound since this is pregnancy #3 and the first two I miscarried. The Dr. said I had to get my blood work done first to prove pregnancy then they’ll call me hopefully tomorrow to schedule the ultrasound. So most likely next week at best. I pushed for the ultrasound and she said there wasn’t a tech in the office so there was no way I could have one. Feeling really bummed.
