I LOVE the name Everett! DH vetoed it pretty quick which was so upsetting.. we have girls choices down and still toss around boys names.. we have completely different tastes in male names lol
We've tabled the name discussion (until we find out the sex, sometime this week!) but my mind is set on Elias (Eli) for a boy. Either first or middle name. It goes well with our other boys and its bilingual.
DH proposed Benjamin but we already have a long last name, poor child is never going to get through Pre-K just learning to write his name!
@hacharles booo DH. River and Autumn go so well together! And I agree that Laken is gender neutral, but if the noun-iness of River bothers him I’m surprised he likes it. My first thought is Lake-n. I still really like the name though, for either sex.
I was worried about long names too @tropical1982! That was mostly when I thought we would be using my last name, which is long, but we have since decided to go with his and it's much shorter. I wonder if school would let yours get away with Ben? He can always learn the rest later!

I agree... River and Autumn go soooo well together! Thats adorable. Maybe you can twist his arm
Names are tough! He likes it and I don't or I like it he doesn't. With my last pregnancy I told him if we have a girl I want her to Nadia. He bashed it. I went through hundreds of names. Hours before we get kicked out of the hospital he says, "How about Nadia?!?"

I love love love love love the name Simon for a boy. My DH is not a fan so we won't be using it but I hope someone does! Soooooo cute
@bundleofjoy3iluvu@linessears4 loooove Simon too! My sister had a baby in January and she named him Simon and I just think its such a great name
@tropical1982 Benjamin is one of our top runners. I am having a hard time since its so popular but honestly I have only ever met 2 Ben's in my life so I am wondering if its popularity is regional.
Our other favorite right now is Henry. Im really loving Henry but my husband is not 100% sold yet. His favorite is Edward which I am not loving at all.
@SawyerRichardson I've started hearing it more and more... mostly for girls. He suggested Echo for a boy. The more I hear it, the more I like it. But the more girls I hear with the name, the more I can't get it out of my head that it's too feminine. Idk!
I might be a little biased, but I think Simon is a great name. (At the risk of some Stanger Danger, it's my maiden name). If we decided to have another baby and end up with a boy, I'd consider Simon as a first or middle name since the last name dies with me.
We still only have one arguably gender neutral name. We are reading a book for our book club with the main character named Elijah, which I love but H doesn’t. He picked the book though so maybe he will have changed his mind? I just want to have like one or two more options just in case. Especially being team green it feels like we should have a few choices.
@krzyriver I love Everett! It always reminds me of one of my favorite movies (and the very cute, sweet actor who played Everett!) Simon Oliver is a great combo!
We are super stuck right now. We had boy names pretty picked out, but are so up in the air now for a girl name.
Currently making sure we pick a name that SO’s family doesn’t short form.. for example his cousin’s kids names are Emmett (Emmy), Dominic (Dommy), and Brooklyn (Brooky).... seriously makes me cringe and MIL agrees lol. Thankfully they can’t do that to us with either one of our kids and I’m not about to let them with this one!
We know we're having a girl (thank you Q-Natal) and we're thinking Nora. My great-grandmother was named Nora. We both liked the name and now MIL is saying it's "too old fashioned." What do you think?

Noooo Nora (Norah) is a BEAUTIFUL name. Our friends just named their little girl that and I love it. I don't think it is old fashioned at all but more "old school" and I think a lot of those types of "old school" names are making a comeback. I think they are elegant, and powerful. We chose "old school" names for our middle names, named after family members.
I am hardcore leaning toward Temperance but I am getting a lot of negative responses/side eye when I mention I like that name to my family. I think the nick names are just as cute for that name. Tem Temmy Tempi Perry Anny Emmy Temper. The possibilities haha. Not sure on a middle name for it and I still need to think of another girl name if they do both end up being girls. DD is Aurora Sterling and we just call her Rory (DH vetoed Lorelei so this was as close to GG as I could get).
@ninji15 did you get that name from Bones?? I LOVE that show and it's such a different unheard name! I love the Nicknames too not sure about a nn though but I'll think about it! Maybe something shorter not sure how long your last name but three longer names is a lot for a kiddo
It was surprising to me how many “old fashioned” names are really popular right now.
Olivia, Sophia, Charlotte, Claire, Lucy...
Samuel, Owen, Wyatt, Julian, Theodore...
All beautiful names, but if I wasn’t in the baby naming business (or had a lot of exposure to a lot of kids), I would have no idea that they are common names for parents to choose.
@mamabearcj yes haha! I love Bones! DH doesn't seem to mind especially because I am giving him more reign on the other name. He liked the show a lot too. Our last name is simple, its Hart. (I know internet creeps but I am pretty content to say that here anyways). I was hoping for something more simple for a middle name because I don't want my kids names to sound overwhelming, especially when I am yelling their full names in the middle of the grocery store to get them to behave (HA).
We don't know if its a boy or girl yet... my anatomy scan is May 14th but we are doing a gender reveal a month later in June (doing it same weekend as hubby graduates from fire academy and lots of family will be in town so we decided to wait.... going to be TORTURE....) but anyway... we settled on names very easily. We liked short, single syllable names for first names and for middle names we went with family names ..
If its a girl her name will be Grace Beulah. Beulah is my DH's grandma's name. He never met her, as she passed when my MIL was very young. We loved the old school/old fashioned name but even better, she actually had a nickname that she went by... "Boots" so Grace Beulah will actually be Gracie Boots for cute
If its a boy his name will be Nash Revaud. I dont remember where we came up with Nash but we loved it instantly. My H has kind of a old fashioned cowboy name that comes from a Louis L'Amore western book, and I guess I kinda felt like Nash was cowboy/country ish too and thought it would be cute. Revaud (pronounced Revaux, the D is silent) was my grandfathers name and he passed when I was little. Again, love the uniqueness of it and the old school tone.
We're team green, so we have to come up with two names. Both our kids have Irish-origin first names, family middle names, and we have a very Irish last name, so I suspect DH will want to keep with that trend, which is fine by me. I'm not even going to start thinking about boy names until after August though, since both my sisters are due with boys before then, so I really don't want to settle on a name and have them accidentally use our front-runner (we don't really share names before baby is born in our family). I have a favorite boy first name, but girl names I'm pretty stumped on at this point.
We know we're having a girl (thank you Q-Natal) and we're thinking Nora. My great-grandmother was named Nora. We both liked the name and now MIL is saying it's "too old fashioned." What do you think?
Nora is old fashioned in a good way! Like Emma, Olivia, and many other popular names right now. In other words, a perfect name for a little girl. I was strongly considering that one too, but my SO is pretty set on ours! Maybe if we ever have a second?
Re: Baby names!
Somehow all of the names we've both liked have ended up either A's or E's, and I have no idea how that happened.
really love River but the hubs isn’t going for it because it is a noun...even though our DD is Autumn...
he seemed interested in Laken until he saw online that it could be a girl name.
I defknitely have heard of it as a girls name. But it could totally be a boy, right?
DH proposed Benjamin but we already have a long last name, poor child is never going to get through Pre-K just learning to write his name!
Logan Charles
Simon
Noah
Girl names so far:
Sara
Naomi

Names really are so hard!

@krzyriver I like Everett. I haven't heard this name until recently when a friend was deciding on names and this is one she liked.
