Rxed with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2012 IVF in 2013 Married in 2014 Stem cell transplant March 2015 1st FET April 2018
@ndz2018 no poas for me. I’m too chicken right now. My beta is Friday and I likely won’t get the results until the evening. I figure if it’s not good at least I have the weekend to be sad. Don’t want to add any stress to my work week.
Sometimes, just going through the motions is enough. I don't know that I have it in me to be overly positive, but I'm trying not to be negative. Just neutral, I guess. I was listening to CBC radio last year and they had a segment on miscarriage and an essay was read by someone whose baby had a "not compatible with life" diagnosis in utero. She said something that really resonated with me and I searched the web frantically when I got home to find a text version of the essay. Although she is speaking about her loss, she does mention IVF and I think she is spot on:
**TW** loss
"It's hard to be called fatalistic by someone who's never had something die inside of them. But it made me realize that getting pregnant, or even trying to get pregnant, after pregnancy loss - after miscarriage or genetically anomaly or stillbirth - or a failed round of IVF is probably the most optimistic act there is. I see women and their partners do it and I marvel at their strength. At the knowledge, deep seated, that the desire to create life and nurture it is worth the fear, worth the pain, worth the stress and terror of wondering whether all of this will happen again".
The fact that you are still pushing forward regardless of the fear and pain, is an optimistic act. I have to remind myself that the mere act of cycling again is hope enough sometimes. It really, really is. Try not to beat yourself up for dreading transfer. You've been through a lot of heartbreak. We all have. I love this group because sometimes when you just can't muster up enough hope and positivity, there are ladies here who have it for you and carry you through
Exactly, 100%!!! At the clinic sometimes, I feel like the nurses are giving me side-eye for not being, you know, happy enough. And I'm like: "Look, I'm optimistic enough to still be here, and to be paying you. Don't patronize me with this 'happy attitude' BS." A happy attitude didn't knock me up on our honeymoon, and it isn't the defining factor now, you know?
Thank you for the beautiful quote. Though I do wish sometimes that the general public didn't have to, you know, experience miscarriage or stillbirth or infertility or anything like that to realize: "Wow, that would be really difficult."
My first FET, my lining was 9.92. My second, 9.20. Both times, they were like: "Perfect, fluffy and receptive." etc etc. And both times? A total bust. And then the ERA results came back with the same thing: "receptive". They did another test too, when they did the ERA: "No evidence of endometriosis". Maddening!
Hoping this time my 9.97 lining will do the trick.
@kristimh80 - thank you so much! I love the creepy internet hugs! I laughed about your DH. Luckily (?) for me, my DH is a bit of an... ummm.... Eeyore. Which, before IF, had caused some issues in our relationship, if I'm being honest. LOL. There were a few times where I was like: "Come on, can you get a little bit more excited?!" But since IF, I guess I've understood him a little better... and he's also learning what it's like to be married to an Eeyore. LOL.
Apparently last week, at his work, some woman was giving him a hard time about being a downer. She made some comment like: "Wow, you're always so cynical." And then went to tease him, like: "Do you have kids?"
DH laughed and said: "Nope, just a couple of failed IVF transfers."
I felt bad for the woman - I mean, I would be upset if I'd stuck my foot in it like that. But then I also felt like: "Hm. Maybe DH is on to something with this Eeyore business."
Anyway, thanks all. Hoping I will feel a little more hopeful soon. Maybe the third time will be the charm?
So much going on! It’s seems like we have all taken to these wonderful drugs great! (Eye roll)
@mcgeeva. So sorry you are dealing with all that drama with the baby shower. You are amazing to be taking that on though. I haven’t been to a baby shower in years and the last one I went to was for my sister so I had to go. I was in charge but it was no where near 70 people! Yikes!
@artemis618 Congrats and GL at your ultrasound next week!
Honestly it makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who isn’t jumping for joy for my FET. A friend keeps asking me aren’t you excited?! I definitely wouldn’t put it that way. Terrified, anxious, scared it won’t work. Those come to mind first. This is my first one so I feel like I shoiuld be more optimistic but then again I don’t want to get my hopes up and get crushed if it doesn’t work.
@funkykey I pray that third time is the charm for you. And good for your husband! If that lady felt awkward maybe she should think about what she says to people.
Ladies my fluid is gone!!! So there will officially be a party in this uterus tomorrow ahhh. Now I have to run to the bathroom from being all worried lol. Lord help me hahahah

@J1006 I feel the exact same way you do about this transfer terrified , scared, nervous and many more emotions I’m trying to be optimistic and if my chances were higher I think I would be more excited than terrified.
@funkykey Omg I love that your DH said that to that lady!! We had a new manager training at work about a month ago. She was bragging about her great-niece baby. I ignored her BS, but she literally threw her phone in my face with a photo and I had to blab "sorry going thru IVF...I can't deal". I felt like a butt at first, but she was super annoying so also made me laugh a little inside. Nothing else, I figure it makes people more aware.

Does anyone have cramping before the transfer? I started PIO Saturday and wondering if that’s what it’s from. I had some last night and then more this morning. Right now it’s on one side. Kind of feels like someone punched me in the uterus haha.
OK you guys! I just emailed my nurse and got my transfer date! 5/8 it is I really thought I'd be 5/6 but what is two more days when I've been waiting this long!
Ladies do we need to be on estrace after FET for a while? I know I was on progestrone for 12 weeks. But don't know about estrace. I need to order if that is the case.

J1006 yes! estrogen and/or progesterone gave me cramps both times...my Dr said is normal. @mcgeeva i was on estrace (vivelle patches) 2 every other day until MC at 5 weeks. I think we need it to support the pregnancy, until the placenta starts working at 10-12 weeks
Oh okay thank you @dragonette505 so i will order some more.

@mcgeeva if you're doing a medicated cycle, yes. You stay on estrogen and progesterone until RE takes you off. Another one of the reasons I did a natural cycle - no Estrace!

@tosh24 do you think unmedicated was better for you? If you don't do meds what do you do instead? I don't think I would ever have that option considering my body skips steps and never O's.

@mcgeeva Natural cycle is way better for me. I won't ever do a medicated cycle again. If you don't O naturally, it's a little more complicated because you will have to be on stims and then be triggered. Does femara work for you? That's what my clinic uses for patients who don't O and want a "natural" cycle FET. Then you'd just trigger when ready and use progesterone. If you don't respond to femara, I have heard of ladies doing low dose Gonal F or similar to grow a follie or two and then trigger. You only need to do a fraction of the progesterone as well if you do a natural cycle which is another bonus. Because you have to monitor follicles, the monitoring is more like an IUI cycle rather than the one check they do during a mediated cycle, but I'd still rather the disruption of monitoring appointments than having to live by my alarm 3 times a day for 12 weeks using Estrace and progesterone (if KU). I feel way better just going with my body's natural flow than trying to suppress my system. My body just doesn't like it.

tosh24 I did a partial natural cycle where I didn't use any meds until O, but my clinic still wanted all their patients on luteal support through the first tri. I think it just depends on your doc. I had hoped to escape luteal support last FET too, but my clinic insisted on it. And my current clinic doesn't even DO natural FET's which bummed me out
@dragonette505 Yeah I have to be on progesterone as well during the LP (and until 10 weeks if I get a BFP). I've never had any issues with my progesterone level but they still put everyone on LP support. The natural cycle peeps get to be on less progesterone, though (supps 2x/day instead of 3). Bummer your clinic doesn't do natural cycles. My RE said at my clinic personally, they haven't seen a difference in success rates between medicated and natural FETs so it's up to the patient what they want to do (they do stimulated FETs for annovulatory women). My body just really hated the vaginal Estrace, likely because of endo, so I was in constant pain.

tosh24 I'm betting my clinic does it for timing convenience... even my transfer was timed for scheduling... I could've done Wednesday or Thursday, but my doc wanted to do Friday for her own convenience. In a way its fine because I can have three days of downtime instead of one, but it just shows how much stuff is probably unnecessary.
@dragonette505 Oh good! Well not good, but glad it’s normal.
@tosh24 my clinic also does not offer natural cycles. I’m guessing for the same reason as @dragonette505 they are a small clinic so everything is very scheduled.
You would be so proud. I had a teacher at work yell at me today about something ridiculous and I kept it together!! Good to know with everything running through my system I can still act somewhat professional. I didn’t breakdown crying or punch her in the face
@mcgeeva Yayyyyyy and FET is tomorrow! I'm rooting for those baby girls!
