Re: April Randoms

  • @megpeg can you elaborate a bit on the symptoms? I’ve been having pain just below my ribs on and off pretty much since birth.
It gets so bad sometimes that I literally curl up in bed and cry in pain.
i haven’t had any other symptoms though....I feel fine otherwise.
It also usually happens shortly after I eat. And sometimes lasts for a long while...

@slr1229 - oh no - hopefully it passes quickly. I’ve been fighting an upset stomach/nauseous feeling since dinnertime.
  • RANT: in-laws left this morning and have been a huge help the last 12 days; however the parting shot as we transitioned to the next set of grandparents was that I have a lot of rules.  While they quickly apologized, but it really hurt my feelings.  Yes, I'm terrified of SIDS and preemies have a few different quirks to follow,. I'm not a fan of cosleeping, sleeping inclined, sleeping in moving swings unattended (my kids are on monitors to ensure they are breathing and the machine can't differentiate between movement of the swing and their chest), or sleeping on their stomach.  Yet my MIL did all of these things while I tried to catch some zzz.  Sigh, I know it worked for her 40 years ago and her kids are fine, but we have to do what works for us and my comfort level.  I did enjoy educating MIL to not shake the breast milk after fortifying it cause the bubbles = gas for babies!
  • My daughter was the first grandchild on my husband's side and it was a big shock when I had rules and boundaries.  Just keep doing what you are doing and hopefully they will get with the program. @knuttyplus2

@paigew123 ouch!  I would get that checked out.  I hope it gets better
  • @paigew123 I sounds like it could be. I would get it checked out. Until you can get in try massaging the area to help after you eat. I just had pain and felt hot at first. Then it turned to vommiting but only the things that were exacerbating my condition.

  • I’ve been putting off calling the dr and checking it out...
With 2 little ones, it’s pretty hectic as is...so I keep telling myself it’s nothing.
I guess I’ll be calling them tomorrow!
    Fx it’s nothing!
  • @paigew123 don't put it off, I did and it caused so much pain and damaged my liver. Better safe when it comes to this stuff because they may be able to catch it and then work out a diet change that helps avoid surgery.
  • @paigew123 I had DS1 in August and had attacks asap and didn’t go in the the doctor until December. By then it was excruciating.

  • Thanks @sassypants2010 @megpeg
ill call tomorrow and see if they can get me in this week...
if not I’ll go to my primary care doctor and see if they can help.

  • @megpeg @sassypants2010 Did either of you have that pain before you gave birth? I've had wicked pain right below my right rib for a while. Doc ran blood tests and said my liver levels looked okay but it still might be gallstones and if I still had pain after delivery, we'd do an ultrasound.
  • @looeeze I did but chalked it up to heartburn from being  pregnant. Plus vomiting all pregnancy is my normal so when that started I wasn't concerned, but continued bouts of nausea after delivery and then worsening vomiting to the point of not being able you eat even boiled chicken or cream of wheat with out instantly getting sick was very new to me.
  • Anyone else dealing with headaches? I think its the lack of sleep...and being inside too much. Hope you're all doing well.
  • @nancysimp - I’m not experiencing that but I’m just so sorry you’re having a rough go. It’s possible it’s the exhaustion. Do you have tension anywhere from holding the baby for so long at a time? Could be tension headaches.
  • @nancysimp I’ve noticed bigger headaches on days I don’t get caffeine. I agree it probably also has to do with sleeping and the weather too.
    Hope you feel better soon.
  • Thanks ladies. I do have a lot of tension in my shoulders....and have been missing coffee lately too. I took Advil just now so hopefully it will kick in soon. Been a few days. Not fun.
  • @nancysimp I’ve been experiencing headaches as well. I’ve noticed on the few days I was able to get more than a few hours of sleep that they aren’t as bad so I think they are exhaustion. I’ve also noticed that I’m constantly clenching my jaw.

Im so over this blizzard that we are having. It’s been snowing since Friday. We’ve gotten well over a foot of snow. I was hoping to be able to take LO on walks but doesn’t look like it will happen this month.
  • When you tell family you don't want your child's picture on social media and they go and post it anyway....

It’s snowing here and I so wish I could move down to Florida!  It seems the older I get, the more I despise the cold and hate that it’s cold October-May.  It makes me so crabby.
  • @bexster05 I'm clenching my jaw as well. I thought it was because of stress but it could be the exhaustion. Trying to notice it and relax it when I do. Sorry mama...I feel your pain.

Also..@mmom3 and @bexster05 the snow and freezing rain certainly affects my mood. Couldn't leave the house which added to my headache. We also scrambled last night to try to get someone to help clear some snow and ice so DH can get to work tomorrow. We will see in the AM if anyone showed up.

@mccurleya that would be annoying. Some in-laws get so excited about the baby and think its harmless to do what they choose even if you are against their action. What a struggle. Hope they listen to you. Parents should always be listened to. We have enough stress to deal with.
  • @mccurleya I am with you!  My MIL is about to visit for the first time and doesn’t listen to anyone and she’s going to post 100 photos despite me saying please don’t (DH and I don’t have it but my sisters tell me when she does).  DH doesn’t speak up because she’s crazy and he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings and cause something to go off- makes me so mad!

on Sat night my fever must have broke when I woke up to feed baby at 12:30 because I woke up swimming in a pool of sweat, way worse than the post partum night sweats.  Was a quick bug whatever it was.
  • @mccurleya Ugh I'm sorry. I would HATE that and might be upset enough to get into an argument. I hope it doesn't come to that for you.

Is anyone else around still pregnant? I'm 10 days overdue and counting....
  • Luckily our immediate family understands. It's the great grandma and cousins that aren't listening. After us and my MIL told her not to. But I vented to my MIL about it and she's pissed so she's taking care of it for me! (It's her mom posting)

    @slr1229 glad you're feeling better!
  • What swing do you have?
I have my daughters old one and it has started making random screamy noises through the sound system which is not soothing at all. Anyway I can’t decide what to get- the reviews are all over the place on amazon.

  • @megpeg I have this one and really like it. One of my best friends also had it for her son and used it for 9 months straight and highly recommended it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQM7W6M/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?psc=1

I have the snug a puppy swing from my son like the one @StephBrim24  linked.  My colors are tan instead of white.  It has worked through him, my nephew, and now my second son.  All babies have loved it.
  • @megpeg We have the Graco Everyway, which I was against at first - we only got it because it has a super small footprint, which works really well for our small apartment. I thought all the motions and sound effects would be a waste, but we use more of them than you'd think and Nora really likes it!

Tomorrow is my 6 week PP appointment.  I’m wondering where time has gone because I feel like he was born just a few moments ago.  It feels like life has been in fast forward since my daughter was born, but now with Charlie it’s times 3.  Anyone else feeling this way?
  • @mmom3 I just had mine today and was wondering the same thing. It seems like maybe a week ago.

@megpeg - it’s making me feel really sad.  Trying to soak in as much babiness as I can and not knowing if he’s our last, but with two other kiddos and a house to take of its harder this time.  I find myself every week Anniversary wishing time to rewind.  I wish I had a time machine.
  • I know what you mean @mmom3.  It's hard to stop enjoy the moment with so much going on.
  • Sorry I’ve been MIA! We had to drive to Florida (from NC) this past weekend for my best friend’s wedding and it was insane. So much was going on. I’m so glad to be back home!!
  • It’s so true what they say, the days are long but the years are short.  We’re 6 Weeks today and I’m thinking “Dang it, halfway through maternity leave.”  Even though she is harder than my first, they’re always so worth it.

All of that is how I feel too. I have decided to treat him like my last baby whether he is or not. I am savoring every moment and making the most of them that I can.

Yes @slr1229 - it’s so true.  Time flies by like the wind it seems.  Prior to becoming a SAHM - I was a special education teacher.  My husband and I have discussed homeschooling as an option but he has reservations, but one of the main reasons I want to is to spend as much time with them while I can before they are off to college, careers, and their own lives.  I’m not sure if I will, but this has made me strongly reconsider.  I have done Home preschool with my daughter before she went to K and did Tot School with my son prior to having Charlie.  Anyone homeschool or plan to?
  • @mmom3 I also had to say out loud today that he may Be our last one and DH may be getting a vasectomy when they were asking about birth control. I am getting more ok with it if he is, DH wasn’t sure if we should have another one before him and I definitely wasn’t ready to be done then. I only had 3 weeks off work with DD and didn’t get to experience her being a baby fully and knew I couldn’t leave things like that.
I guess I just need time to mourn the fact that I won’t feel those little flutters in my belly again, I won’t have the excitement of another ultrasound, and I won’t have the anticipation of what the tiny face will look like. I am not sure that I want to do that again but I hate the thought of things being so final.

  • Has anyone used the implant Nexplanon?  I am not a candidate for an IUD because ofmy bicornuate uterus and I am the worst at remembering to taking a pill every day.   I am breastfeeding so that's a factor to consider also.
  • @sgrn18 I had the nexplanon put in at the hospital after having Camden and we have been ebf for almost 10 weeks now with no issues, period has been lighter but maybe a little longer than normal? It has had no effect on my milk supply if anything I make too much milk. They'll numb your arm where they're inserting it then they take this thing that looks like a piercing gun and put it in. You'll have a wicked bruise for about a week but I've had no issues with it so far  :)
  • @heatherandmatt26 that's awesome! I haven't been on birth control for probably 8 years now we were just using condoms until we decided to ttgp but we really want to be sure it's not going to happen again for a while.

@megpeg - My husband was “done” after our 2nd but I wasn’t until our son turned two.  Then I was like no way - he is handful and felt we were done.  However, in July we found out we were pregnant with a beautiful surprise of #3.  All pregnancy I said this is our last - we are done.  Then the little ultrasounds came, then the tiny kicks which turned into the constant movement.  Then the excitement of preparing for baby being Team Green.  This is also the first baby I don’t have to return to work now that I’m a SAHM and am so so grateful to my hard working hubby that I get to be here for all his firsts.  My husband keeps telling me I’m going to go for 4 to try for a girl which means it’s his way of saying he wants one more.  My daughter also really is hoping for a sister.  So I’m on the fence for one more - I don’t feel that sense of done I did up to asking the doctor to tie my tubes once it was determined I needed a c-section.  She said she could but I had to be sure and in that split second my mind was changed.  Once I saw that sweet little face I absolutely thought I could do this once more.  It’s weird being in this limbo but time isn’t our friend as hubby is 42 and I’m going to be 35.  We are getting older and want to be able to be around for our children and grandchildren as we think further down the line.  Also, what doesn’t help is I’m the oldest of 3 and my brother/SIL and sister/BIL are not done having kids yet which totally gives you all the baby feels.
  • Have five!  I highly recommend it!!!
