We just had our first real fit of crying... at a hotel. Super awesome 11:45 pm screaming with tears. He finally let gas go and calmed down. DH shook his formula bottle to mix it

  • @megpeg. Oh no!  At least you know the source of the problem.  I caught my mother in law shaking my breast milk that we fortify and had to educate her that it's a no no because it introduces gas and breaks down the fat.
  • And DS1(9year old) started throwing up at 2 am.

  • @megpeg - No! That’s the stuff my nightmares are made of. My anxiety would be through the roof. I’m so glad your LO calmed quickly though.

@megpeg - oh that sounds awful.  A few weeks ago I went through that with my daughter.  I was up literally all night long.  Prayers it passes quickly and you can get some rest.
  • Everyone slept until 10 except DH. We are now at the pool while he’s in class.

  • Glad everyone is getting better.
  • Had my first night away from the baby, wedding 2 hours away.  Slight headache from the wine!  I sure miss her right now and waiting for the hubs to wake up so we can go!
  • I think all that sleep last night gave me a plugged duct. I've been pumping extra and nursing, massaging, and currently in a hot bath. Seems to be getting worse and not better.  What else can I do? This sucks!
  • If it doesn’t get better, I’d put in a call to your dr. Could be thrush or mastitis.
  • @sgrn18 - I feel your pain! I developed one yesterday afternoon and now it’s insanely painful. It’s like the whole bottom half of my boob. This is my third baby and this is the most painful one I’ve ever had. Hoping we both get relief before it becomes mastitis!
  • I had posted the other day about my grandma not doing well- she passed away last night. She was 95. I am just glad she got to meet Declan a couple weeks ago before she went downhill.

  • @megpeg so sorry for your loss.
  • @StephBrim24 mine was the whole bottom part too. I finally got some relief by breastfeeding on all fours with him on the ground.  Sounds weird and it was a very awkward position but I was ready to try anything.  After, I pumped in the same position and got it going again.   This was after all day of trying to get rid of it! I getMy boob is pretty sore now from all that work.

@megpeg I'm so sorry for your loss  :( it's never easy to lose someone no matter how prepared you are.
  • @megpeg I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s great she at least met Declan first.
@sgrn18 - thank you for the advice! I don’t care how crazy I look - I’ll try any position. Last night I tried bending way forward and doing the football hold just for a different angle. On top of the ducts being clogged on the bottom, the top of my boob feels so bruised from trying to squeeze and massage. It hurts to even put Cora on my chest to burp her on that side. Then my other boob is so neglected since I keep feeding her off the clogged one. I overthink so much! Ha!
  • I am so sorry for everyone's struggling.  I a hope you guys feel better.  Sorry for your lost @megpeg
  • @stephbrim24 yes I'm still sore and omg it hurt so bad for him to latch on that side I thought for sure it would never go away! And also yes to the neglected other boob! I'm going to end up with a clogged duct on that side now from it lol

@megpeg - so sorry for your loss.

Clogged duct club starting over here.  Ugh, hoping this club disbands really soon.
  • Well shoot. I noticed some achiness last night and I thought I might have some chills. Cora cleared my duct a couple hours ago so I was waiting to see how I felt. But I just checked my temp and I’m around 100. Looks like I need to call the doctor. What can I expect, those of you that have had mastitis before?
  • @megpeg sorry for your loss
  • Can post partum depression set in around 3 months pp? I'm already on 50 mg of Zoloft as a preventive measure and have been doing good but now I'm feeling myself go downhill and starting to struggle quite a bit. Should I call about changing my dosage I don't know what to do about it honestly and I've just been muddling through it for a few weeks now.
  • @StephBrim24 I had mastitis with my first... you'll get chills, achy, have a fever, and the infected boob will turn red and warm to the touch.  I called my midwife when I realized what was going on.  They had me wait until my temp got past 100.3 before calling in a prescription for antibiotics.  Some people are able to fight the infection before it gets too serious... I wasn't... my temp got up to 103 really quickly and they almost hospitalized me. But the antibiotics got the infection under control quickly and I just had to deal with a sore boob for a few days.  Definitely call your doctor if you think something's up -- they can tell you what to look for.  Sorry that you're going through this!  It's weirdly stressful, right?

@megpeg I'm so sorry for your loss.
  • @heatherandmatt26 I’m not sure - but I don’t think it would hurt to call and talk to someone. This motherhood thing is hard, and with the hormones shifting and lack of sleep it’s good to be able to have someone to talk to.
    Good luck, momma.
  • Mastitis feels like the flu without all the snot.  Fever, chills, body aches.  There is also pain I'm the breast and heat with mine.  My antibiotic helped within 24 hours.  I hope you feel better.

@heatherandmatt26 I would definitely call.  I hope they are able to help.
  • @Radishes - that’s really really helpful actually. I got into the doctor and she called in an antibiotic. But my fever was only at 100 today, Cora got the clogs out, and I don’t have any noticeable redness. The soreness is only in one spot. So I was wondering if it was possible to fight it off without antibiotics but my doctor didn’t even mention that was a possibility. So maybe I’ll hold off just overnight to see if this goes away on its own so I don’t need to hassle with antibiotics unnecessarily.

I think I had it one night, all of a sudden full on chills, fever, sweats and sore sore boob came and it went away within 8 hours
  • @heatherandmatt26 seeing your doctor is a good idea if you notice you are feeling worse. It's a hard time for mammas. Sending you hugs.
  • @megpeg, so sorry for your loss. @StephBrim24, hope you are feeling better! To all in the clogged duct club, hoping it disbands soon! I think I’m joining that one. I only got 1.5 ounces out of my early afternoon pump and my right boob constants hurts on the right side.
  • @maelily15 - I’m feeling better! I held off on the antibiotics and the fever stayed gone on its own. Woo!
