I LOVE talking baby names too, so I already pulled out my old list & made DH go through it with me to knock out names we no longer liked. He vetoed every single boy name! I asked if he liked Noah and he said it wasn't bad. Ok, done! lol. Kinda set on Laurel Rose for a girl.
I had my girl names picked out before we even started TTC. Luckily my husband likes them too Girl would be either Dorothy (or Dorothea? Undecided between the two), my mother's mother's mother, or Josephine, my husband's mother's mother. Dorothy could be shortened to Dot or Dottie (my great grandmother went by Dot) and Josephine would be shortened to Josie. We have a few more family names we will use as middles as well. My choices would be Helen/Helene or Rosemary/Rose, both from my dad's side. Husband hasn't given me middle name choices yet.
We are completely undecided on boy names. We will have to swap lists and see what the other likes. Currently my short list is John, Jonathan, Theodore, Jude, Jonah, Jesse, or Jamie. I have no idea why I've seemed to gravitate toward J names!
@AGK2015 My boy name is James Robert too! But that's a family thing from my husband's side. Boys are named James + "paternal grandfather's first name". So that was decided from the minute I married in.
A girl name is harder...my maiden name was Lindsay, so I'm thinking that could be a good middle name, but we haven't even started talking about that yet.
I really love Amir but being that it's a middle eastern name and we're a pale white family, it's a no-go.
I don't think differing cultures should be a deterrent if you love the name! My very white sister has an Arabic name (Leila) and it hasn't affected her or our family in any way. Besides, all of my girl names are Greek, and we're not Greek at all

Ooo I love this thread! For girls we like Imogen (Immy), Adelaide (Addy-where my Americans girl fans at?!) and Catherine (I’m the 5th in a line of Catherines so I feel pressure to keep the tradition—and I do love the name). For boys, Everett (family name)<—anyone know of a nickname for this?
Any opinions on Junior, or in my case, Third? My husband is a Jr and I've always felt like we needed to continue his name if we have a boy. My husband doesn't feel the same way.
Also, he's the only son, and so is his dad...so if we don't have a boy, his line of he family name is done. Talk about pressure!!
The naming is super exciting! In our culture, one has to receive a name from their kupuna who is like their elderly family spiritual leader and they will be expected to live up to the meaning of their name. But since our Kupuna passed, we really dont have anyone to give us names so I got my mine from a dream. I dreamed the ocean dragged me in to tell me that my child would belong to the sea and that they would be fierce as the ocean current.
If hes a boy it'll be Lawai'a Kamohoali'i Yoshio. Lawai'a means fisherman in hawaiian and kamohoali'i was our god of sharks and ruler of the ocean in all our stories. Yoshio means courageous and righteous (gotta have japanese in there, since Im a quarter lol)
If shes a girl then it'll be Auli'i Namakaokahai Satomi. Auli'i means dainty and perfect, Namakaokahai was the fierce goddess of the sea and for her Japanese name, Satomi, it means intelligent and clever.
I have a baby name list that I work on even when I'm not pregnant! Names are just so much fun!! So we have two, oldest is Theodore, nickname Theo, and youngest is Adeline, nickname is Addy. Baby is due on the 7th. My birthday is the 9th, which was also my grandmother's birthday. If the baby is born on the 9th and is a girl her name will be Alice after my grandmother. I'm thinking Collette for a middle name and then her nickname can be Coco or Lettie. Vivienne is also on my short list if not the 9th, Vivi for a nickname. I have a weird thing about nicknames. My name is too short for one and it bugged me growing up so my kids all have good solid nickname names lol. I also love Margaret and Ingrid but DH vetoed them. Boys names are tougher. I feel like all the names I like are way too popular. My son is 8 and there is no other Theo's his age. But old fashioned names are very trendy right now. I'm feeling like it'll be a girl tho cuz I just can't think of a good boy name. Similar issues with both previous pregnancies. With my son the minute I decided on his name I knew it was a boy and couldn't find a girl name I liked. We both really want another girl so fingers crossed!
@bumpitup My husband is a Jr and we named our son after him so hes a third (I know one day well have another boy so I felt ok about it) Its a big honor to be a jr or more where we come from
Fun discussion! I have an Addalyn Grace, Lilah Joy, Asher Elliott, and Micah Leland. Our adopted daughter is Alexis Mary-Lynn (not my choice and not my favorites).

We have chosen our names took forever for us to find ones we both agree in So for a boy it's Frederic Neville (Neville after my father) And for a girl Ophelia Shirley (Shirley after his nan who has passed)
We were going with Amelia Evelyn, but within the past 2 years I've known 5 people who have named their daughters Amelia, so I'm apprehensive. We're considering Emilia, though, after my sister, Emily. Evelyn is a family name so I would love to use it.
Other girl contenders are: Mabel (and call her Millie), Louisa (call her Lulu)
Seems like out top boy names are Declan and Flynn. I like Crosby, Montgomery (Monty), August, River and Kai, but my husband isn't a fan.
We have a reeeeeeally hard time agreeing on names. I know my name choices are little out of the ordinary, but my husband really doesn't like common names so that is making the search even more difficult.
@runrinserepeat Remy is a great name. It's my son's name so I may be biased
I like the name Roscoe too, but I would worry people would think we named him after Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles Also since we already have a Remy, I don't think I want another R name.
@westcoastfoodie if you like Remy I say go for it. We have an Anthony, and a lot of names we like start with A, so they'll likely both be A's even though it's not planned. And I do know someone whose first two are J's and third is an I name and it's not weird at all (I know some think it would be), so don't let a third being different stop you either.
I don’t have a list of potential names yet. Our current names are Ava Leigh, Madeline Marie, and Charlotte James. We dont use nicknames for them. Whatever name we choose can’t be like the others though because I’m already always calling them by the wrong name now that there’s 3.
@CecilB93 oh we already have a Remy I’m just not big into alliteration with names. If we were having a third that we could mix it up with I might go with another R name, but this is going to be our last. Of course if there’s an R name we both adore, it would be a miracle, so we’d probably use it
Charlotte was my top girl name. My husband didn't like it. He really liked the name Adalynn and Grace was always going to be my daughters middle name (If I had one). So Adalynn Grace for our little girl. For our boy, we decided on Mark Allen. It was my little brother's name and he passed away in 2012 at the age if 16. My husband and him were best friends. It's also my father's name. It's our way of honoring my brother and father.

I really like Bradley Joseph or Micah Marc for a boy and Gabriella Hope or Noelle Grace for a girl. I'm only weeks along but I'm going to try to wait until birth to find out my baby's gender.
The only name we are set on is Isaac for a boy. It's going to be a long battle to come up with a girl's name. I actually really love the name Charlie for a girl, but he absolutely refused, mostly since our last name is Brown. I suggested maybe Charlotte, but he knows I would just nickname her Charlie. Lol. We will get there eventually..
@westcoastfoodie I've not had Roscoe's, but chicken and waffles are delicious so I think you're in the clear. A++ would name my own child after Chicago House of Chicken and Waffles.
With DS we knew as soon as we said his name that it would be the one. With DD we came up with 3 and within a week had hers chosen. With this one I know it will be harder because everything I came up with before getting pregnant, H was 'eh' on.
We've had names picked out since before we started trying, so they're pretty locked in - Maeve for a girl, and Rheo for a boy.
Maeve came about because we met while I was performing Mercutio in a production of Romeo & Juliet, and the character has a speech about a fairy named Queen Maab; Maeve is the English derivative of Maab. Husband likes really classic, strong names for boys (Michael, Thomas, Jonathan) but I tend to lean a bit more unique - I convinced him of Rheo after finding out he had a great-uncle by the same name who was kind of the "man's man" amongst his gazillion brothers. He likes it because it's a family name, and I like it because it's a special name I've never heard before.
@sheshae & @echo-charlietango - My first name is actually Lexi (just Lexi, no "full name") and I've met a few girls who use it as a nickname, but I'm the only one I've ever met who has it as a true first name. I love it, personally!
@xx-stagemommy I LOVE Maeve. And it has such a great meaning too! If we didn't already know an adorable little Maeve, that'd be on our list for sure. (I'm still thinking of using it for a middle.)
