@prpl11butterfly - the best part of getting a new boss was that when I made a mistake he would say just fix it and shrug. It made Work 100 times less stressful. My old manager would act like the sky was falling over anything needing correction. It was super annoying. Why do you care if the end result is that it gets fixed?
@galactickates it actually makes my job take longer and requires more steps. I work with a lot of vehicle titles and registrations. The state has some very strict guidelines we have to follow (example, when we mail in paper work it has to be in a specific order or the reject it). If he doesn't fill out a certain form, I have to wait for him to print it. If he doesn't fill it out right, we have to wait for him to fix it and get it notarized (she's right next to me but...). Some things we can easily make adjustments too but other things are a nightmare. And plus also, these are the SAME mistakes made almost daily (and at times multiple times a day). It just gets old after a while.
So Buster, our doxie learned how to open the gate to go upstairs when it's just closed and not locked. We obviously had to start locking it if we leave.
Well.... We went to work Friday and when we got home Buster had ripped the carpet and chewed up our banister trying to get the gate open again. We were super pissed obviously because now we have to replace the carpet in our brand new house.
We thought it was bad Friday..... today we ran out to just grab a few things and when we got home he had completely ripped the carpet off the bottom stair. So F-ing livid. He's our "good dog" too. We never have any problems with him.
@galactickates oh no!!! I’m so sorry, I once had a dog that we left for quite a few hours while we went somewhere, we came home and he hadn’t touched a thing, only peed on his puppy pad, and was overall great. Then we went out to grab dinner that night and he tore up all the carpet in our hallway while we were gone for maybe an hour! I was so mad....especially since it was a rental so explaining that to our landlord was not fun. They can be such a pain sometimes but their companionship is so worth it, in my opinion. I hope they adjust to the new house and leave the rest of your carpeting alone
@galactickates oh no! I hope it’s not too expensive to fix. We used to have to crate our dog when we left. Now that he’s an old man he only wants to sleep in our pillows, but he used to eat remotes, headphones, get into the trash, and once ate half a pack of birth control pills.

Oh no @galactickates! I'm so sorry to hear this, especially that it happened in your new house. We have to crate our dog whenever we're out of the house now because she has so much anxiety. I hope it's not too difficult to fix. @meggyme Did your dog get sick from the birth control pills? Yikes!
AFM- Last night I scored cheap flights to Montana to go see my sister in May and I'm freaking ecstatic!!!! I haven't seen my sister in a year and she hasn't seen my daughter for 2 years, so I'm just so excited we finally get to go see her and her family! I'm really close to my sister, but the crazy expensive flights have kept us from seeing each other. I can't wait!
@offtoneverland nope, he was perfectly fine. He just really didn’t want to have any puppies! It was pretty funny trying to tell the pharmacy why I needed my refill so soon though. I’m glad you get such a great deal to be able to see your sister!
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
He's 7 and we've never had a single problem with him, not even an accident in the house. Its so frustrating. We are going to take carpet from the mystery closet in the garage and will be able to repair it, it just sucks that it's an additional project we have to do. H and I work kind of far so we feel bad crating them for that long. We installed a dog door so they can run around. I'm not sure what we're going to do.
@offtoneverland that's so awesome you're going to see your sister. I bet it will be absolutely beautiful there at that time! How long do you get to go for?
I found this review on Amazon when I was looking for a cervical cup for a specific purpose. I have removed all mentions of the brand because it isn't necessary.
"YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS THING.
Okay, so nearly everyone with a period will tell you NO UNDERWEAR IS SAFE. No matter what you use, no matter what color the underwear is, the blood will find a way to destroy it... UNTIL TODAY.
I wore PRISTINE WHITE AS LILIES PANTIES the other day. And as I was getting ready in the morning I was like "Wait, I'm going to get my period soon. Better cup up to be safe."
I went through my day living my life with no hint or indication that I was bleeding from below, that is until I emptied my cup.
THAT MOTHER WAS FILLED TO THE BRIM. Apparently I had not only gotten my period but the entirety of a Quentin Tarantino film had taken place under my skirt. I'm talking elevator-of-blood-from-horror-masterpiece-The-Shining levels here.
And my snow white panties? NOT A DROP ON THEM. You would have never known my vagina was the battle ground for Freddy Vs. Jason. Needless to say this is the BEST THING for people with periods to avoid holding another mourning session for their favorite pair of undergarments.
Never using pads or tampons again."

Well, I have to agree with her! I wouldn't be so effusive and over-the-top with my praise, personally, but she's not wrong. I love my cup so much. Unfortunately, it's been a bit weird since I've had a baby, and I've been doing pelvic floor exercises to try to make it work again.
I have questions about that cup, what the hell do you do in a public restroom? This might be tmi but I can't imagine cleaning one of those out in a sink. I won't even entertain the idea because of it. I think it's super disgusting to do that in a public space, unless you toss them like you would a tampon? I need answers.

In my six years or so of using one, I've changed it once in a public restroom with stalls. Cups can be worn much longer than a tampon or pad. I have pretty average periods in terms of heaviness, and I will empty it in the morning, mid-day and at night for the first day or two of my period. After that, I empty it in the morning and at night. That's it. If I know I'm going somewhere for awhile, I'll empty it right before leaving and then I'll have at least 6-8 hours before needing to empty it again and 12-24 if it's later in my period. That's always (except for that one time) been plenty long enough to not need to empty it while out and about. I don't know if you're talking about all public restrooms, including individual bathrooms, but I have no qualms about cleaning it in a sink in an individual bathroom. My former workplace only had individual bathrooms, and I've rinsed it out in the sink in there.
What's recommended if you can't get to a sink is emptying it and then wiping it out with toilet paper (some of the manufacturers actually sell wipes for this purpose, but I've never used those) and then reinserting it. Then taking it out and washing it as soon as you get a chance. That's what I did the one time I needed to empty it in a bathroom with stalls.
I've been thinking about trying one for a few months but pushing until after a baby comes along. My periods are pretty average now but I don't know what I'll be doing for BC or what they will be like after (hypothetical)baby.
@lovesclimbing - i was specifically speaking about stalls. We spend all day out quite frequently and I am constantly drinking fluids throughout the day so for me personally that would be a nightmare. My work alone, doesn't have private bathrooms so that's a hard no for me. That's nice if you can manage it I guess.

Yea. The one time I did change it out in a stalled bathroom, it of course wasn't as convenient, but it worked fine. Regarding drinking fluids, the cup isn't necessarily removed every time you use the bathroom! You can do that, but it's not necessary. I try to drink a lot of water as well, and I don't remove it unless it's already a time when I need to. So like toward the middle of my period when I only emptying it in the morning and at night, I am definitely using the bathroom throughout the day and just not emptying it when I do.
Just FYI, cups are not useful for those of us "blessed" with insanely heavy periods. I tried a cup a few years ago but I frequently had to change it in public places because of my heavy periods. It was awful and so, so messy. Yuck!! Super plus tampons for the win!
@offtoneverland I’ve always been curious if they’d work for me, but I’ve always been a “start leaking through a super heavy tampon after one hour” for 7 days straight girl soooooo sounds like they’re not in my future.
@doxiemoxie212 I went down a rabbit hole of googling for you because I was curious. Menstrual cups apparently hold about 1 oz (30 ml) of blood. A super tampon holds about 10 ml. The diva cup website says "The average women flows approximately 1-2oz (30-60 ml) per cycle." What kind of magical unicorns are these average women? I can't imagine having that little blood flow during my period. How glorious that must be! Anyways, it seems you'd have to change the cup every couple of hours just like I did, and that's even more inconvenient than using tampons.
@offtoneverland i was just thinking about that... if you are having to clean a cup out while people watch you in a public restroom..... how is that better then a tampon you just throw away? Double Pass. Also I dont want to wash my hands next to someone washing their bloody cup out either... Gagging just thinking about it.
@galactickates ugh, I hope no one washes them out in a public bathroom! When I used mine, I tried wiping it out with toilet paper like PP said. But I imagine that is much easier for someone with little flow, as I would get blood all over my hands and it was just gross. Sorry, TMI. Oh well. @suzycupcake Look at this weird conversation you started!
Well I bought some. I could never use them for my period and not be worried about mess, but I heard they do a good job of keeping sperm up near the cervix. Score.

It doesn't work for everyone, and not every one likes them. I do know a couple people who have heavy flows and use them. As a PP posted, a cup actually holds more than a super tampon and you shouldn't have to change it as often as you would a tampon. To each their own.

Does anyone follow the Hae Min Lee case that was spotlighted on Serial/undisclosed?
I've looked for information on if Jim Clemente profiled Don and I can't find anything. I thought maybe someone else following the case might know. The last I heard on Bob Ruff's podcast truth and justice podcast Bob had info on Don but I'm not sure if it was ever revealed.
@galactickates I followed serial and have kept tabs on the case, but nothing further than the original podcast. They ruled to give him a new trial as long as they don’t change their position during an appeal.

@meggyme I knew that about the trial but I was curious if anything more came out about Don.
Eta - did you listen to any of the truth and justice podcasts? Bob was going to do a series with Jim and Laura - criminal profilers. I only heard one on Jay. I'm wondering if I missed others
@meggyme oh man!!!!! I want to spoiler 10 things! From following the case do you know about Don's double time cards at lense crafters for the same day and that his step mom was the manager at one. And the tapping during Jay's confession. I listened to a bunch of follow up podcasts and so much more is revealed. It's absolutely crazy.
@galactickates I do remember them being surprised Don wasn’t investigated further and that Jay’s confession was more detailed than he should have been able to know as an accomplice. Maybe if he gets a new trial I’ll catch up with the supplemental podcasts. Lately I’ve been listening to a podcast called cocaine and rhinestones about different histories in country music.

It's supposed to snow on Sunday. April 8th. It's going to be very cold the whole weekend, with temps in the 30's. I wanted to build my vegetable beds and plant bushes in the front yard. This is the time of year when I should be able to do these things. But no, I'm going to be trapped indoors and watching the snow fall out my window. I've been ready for summer since January 2nd yet here we are, in early April, still dealing with shit weather.
This must be the price we're paying for last year's mild winter, and those two blissful weeks in February when it was in the low 70's.
@wishiwaspreggo where are you located? I’m in the same position. Every weekend my friend and I talk about getting the garden ready...and every weekend we have to postpone due to snow, freezing weather, or too much rain. I should not live in the Midwest anymore.
I'm in southern Indiana. I know folks north of me have had it worse so I shouldn't complain too much, but we usually have at *least* a couple nice days interspersed between the crappy ones. Like a tug-of-war between spring and winter. But winter has been winning every single day. You can feel it when you go outside, like the sun is warmer and you can smell the greenery coming back to life so I have hope. But the air is still icy cold even on the rare sunny days but it's mostly been heavy rain. I had to move my potted seeds into my garage for a couple weeks while the rain poured and poured. They were over-saturated as it is.I hope they're not ruined while it's supposed to be damn cold, it's going to at least be sunny today and tomorrow so I'll take them out and hopefully they'll start to sprout. Ugh. My spring veggie garden dreams are on hold for now.
