Re: March 2018 IUI

  • Well, still negative at 14dpIUI so I am officially a BFN this month.  I am just hoping for AF to come like TODAY because otherwise I won't be in town for a baseline ultrasound - I'm gone all next week.  Have any of you ladies been unable to do a baseline ultrasound and RE still let you start meds (letrozole or clomid)?

  • @wishing-and-hoping so sorry to read about your BFN, that’s always a bummer. I know every RE and patient are different, mine doesn’t do a baseline ultrasound. I have gone in on CD 10 both times for my first ultrasound.
  • @eabrahamson congratulations! Praying for a healthy baby for you!

Thank you all for the welcome! I am going to need to take notes and write all your screen names down to better respond to everyone. :)

For all who got a BFN already, my heart goes out to you. It’s never easy, and takes great strength, to pick up the broken pieces of your heart, and keep trying.

I just keep holding on to hope and try to have faith that it will happen for me, when it’s meant to happen. Each month, I am growing stronger as a person and getting to know myself better, because of this journey. So, when the time comes to raise a compassionate and loving child, I imagine I will be that much more prepared. This is what helps me keep burning bright!  (As you all probably have experienced, when you are ttc for a long time, you have a lot of time to think about it) ❤️

As for my tww, still I don’t have any symptoms. Which is surprising because I am on progesterone suppositories for the first time. On the one hand it’s making me concerned it’s not my month, again. On the other hand it’s nice to not have all the symptoms, cause I don’t think about it all day everyday.
  • @hlthybaby2018 I hope that this will be a good sign for you. Last cycle when we got our first bfp, I also didn't have symptoms and was on p for the first time. This cycle, I don't have any symptoms again so I hope it means the same as last time. Cycles before, I had a butt ton of symptoms but it ended up being pms lol

  • @wishing-and-hoping I'm sorry about the BFN. Can you call your nurse and bring up the scheduling issues you have? In my case, in my protocol, I got stand by meds that I take on CD2-4 and I go for my u/s from CD7.

@hlthybaby2018  Fx that this is your month!

@eabrahamson So glad to hear from you! It's nice you could relax til your u/s. Keep us posted <3
  • @wishing-and-hoping - sorry about the BFN :( did AF come yet? Is your RE letting you start a cycle again without an ultrasound? Hope things are going okay and you're able to cycle again soon!

@eabrahamson - Yay!!! It's nice to know your HCG is doubling so well that you don't need draws anymore. Keep us posted on the ultrasound!

AFM, I got a BFN today - 10 DP IUI. When I got pg with DS I got a BFP by now so I'm pretty sad. Also, my boobs hurt less today and my appetite has finally abated. This is good since those symptoms were pretty killer and I hate being hungry all the time, but sad too because it must mean my progesterone is dropping naturally with no embryo implanted. I'll still keep taking my prenatals and suppositories until 14 DP but I'm losing hope. Silver lining: my W had leftover Prometrium so I didn't have to buy any this cycle. $50 saved to put towards IVF. Blah.

Does anyone know if Gonal-F is good for a while after it's been punctured? I still have like, 200 iu in a cartridge at home and I'd like to use it for next cycle and maybe save a little money but I probably won't get started on IVF until late summer or early fall. The manufacturer's website says to only keep it for 28 days. Money grubbing bastards. However, my contacts manufacturer recommends changing lenses every 2 weeks. I wear mine until they get stiff and cloudy and that takes 2 months. I don't trust medical companies with their expiration dates.
  • @eabrahamson I'm so very happy for you!!!!!

@wishiwaspreggo I'm so sorry this month didn't work out.

    @hlthybaby2018 FX for you!

  • @eabrahamson I am so happy for you and am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@hlthybaby2018 I  understand what you mean and how you feel while TTC for a long period of time it really does allow you to reflect. I hope it's your month!

As for me here is my update - I went in today after taking chlomid and I have 1 big healthy looking follicle and got my trigger. This round we aren't doing an IUI as I originally thought and are doing timed intercourse so the pressure really feels present to get it on and do it right lol! I am just trying to stay positive right now and try to remain calm...which is hard!
  • @wishing-and-hoping So sorry for the BFN but so glad that you got your period and the timing worked out! Fingers crossed that the next cycle brings you your BFP

@wishiwaspreggo Sorry you got a BFN today but keep holding onto hope, I'll be sending good vibes and prayers that you still get a BFP

@wine_mama16 Yay for the big follicle! Good vibes, fingers crossed, and prayers!

We are 8dpiu today and trying not to go crazy. My wife tested day 3, 6 and today. Day 6 had no line at all but we both swear there is a squinter on today's test, but she took her day 6 test in the afternoon and today's in the morning, so it's probably left over trigger that was too diluted to show up two days ago. I'm trying not to read into it or get my hopes up. There is some other symptoms though, crazy dreams and more cervical mucus than normal. Also she's been taking ppl tests and they are getting stronger. But we are really trying to be super chill and not read into any of it. It's just so hard! Sending good vibes and prayers to everyone waiting on a BFP and the same that everyone who got their BFP has healthy happy pregnancies. And for everyone in the TWW, try to stay sane  :#
  • @wishiwaspreggo at 10dpiui my DH would tell me it's still too early. I'm still rooting for you, hang in there <3

@wishing-and-hoping I'm sorry for the BFN but yay for the perfect timing of your AF. I hope that it would be our turn to get our BFP's next month!

@wine_mama16 Congrats on the nice follie and have a happy, fun BD!

@rmartin_ttc  FX for a BFP!!! Keep us posted!

AFM, I went in for my u/s today and 3/4 follies didn't grow well. Dr said they must be chocolate cysts (sigh). We're still looking at my dominant follie to grow until Monday so I got another 225iu HMG. If things go well, I'd have my IUI#3 on Monday, if not then Tues. There's a little set back though, on Tue my DH won't be able to come with me because of his work. I'd have to bring in his sperm to the clinic with me. Usually, the SA of the sample we bring in is not good enough so DH usually had to give another one in the clinic. But if it happens on Tue, and our sample won't be good, then we've got a problem.

I really hope and and pray that I'd have my IUI on Monday.
  • @wine_mama16 good luck with the BD this weekend! :)
@rmartin_ttc hope these tests are the real deal!
@tinjp78 sorry that you didn't get the growth you were hoping for, but fx that your dominant follicle gets right where it needs to be for IUI next week.  i know it's hard working around our DHs schedules - mine is a doctor so he has to basically move mountains to be able to take a couple hours off, it's always so stressful  :s

AFM baseline ultrasound was fine today and I got the go-ahead for next cycle.  I had asked about trying to increase follicle size (the last couple of times my biggest one has been 17/18 on day of trigger) and in response they are starting my letrozole day 2 rather than 3 or 4 and also potentially giving extra letrozole if growth isn't where we need it to be on day 11 scan.  I'm feeling good that they took my concerns seriously and hoping this will get us good follicles and a good chance at IUI #3

  • @tinjp78 Sorry to hear that and I know how frustrating that is. Can he not tell his job that he is trying to have a baby right now so going to the clinic for a couple of hours is super important?

@wishing-and-hoping It sounds like you've got a good doctor treating you like a partner rather than a number. Just remember too that an egg is considered mature at 18mm so 18 is great. That doesn't mean that a 17 or a 16 wouldn't work out though. At least that's what my RE has told me. For medicated cycles, they typically trigger around 16-17mm. Mature is between 16 and 20mm.

  • Thank you dolls for the <3 As for DH's sched, actually he could almost always set time for our ART appointments, however rt now, he was just accepted to a new position he applied to two weeks ago and his starting day for it is on Monday! Perfect! Well, he was able to take an off that day but Tue would be impossible. I'm praying for a miracle now that we'd have everything that needs to be done- done on Monday.

@wishing-and-hoping Congrats on the green light to proceed to your next IUI. I'm hoping that 3's a charm for us!

@suzycupcake Hang in there dear! Sending you lots of sticky sticky vibes!
  • It's now time to say goodbye to this March 2018 IUI thread. I'd say it was a great month, not only for those who got their BFP's but for us too who didn't because we get another opportunity to be stronger, more persevering and hopeful. I'll start our April 2018 IUI thread now, for those who are on their tww's please join us there too.
  • Bfn today. I'm so disappointed and so upset with myself that I allowed hope to grow. I think I'm gonna be not on tb for a little while.

  • @suzycupcake Oh no! I'm so sorry. Pls take care of yourself today and allow yourself to heal physically, mentally and emotionally. I understand that you are upset on allowing hope to grow, I actually don't know how else to view everyday in this journey aside from being hopeful. But with every falls we still get up and fight. We will get our reward one of these days. I'm praying for all of us <3
  • @suzycupcake i'm so sorry.  i felt like this month the BFN rang even emptier than the ones before it somehow.  It's like now that I have SEEN a positive pregnancy test it was harder to see the stark white of the negative.  If we didn't have hope, this process would be impossible and yet that hope itself sets us up for disappointment.  I'm sorry for your pain, and I share with you in it...
