Re: March 2018 IUI

  • @eabrahamson fx for a great 2nd beta!

  • I’m only 2 days today past my missed period- my beta went from 45 to 69 and I’m scared because it didn’t double :(
  • @eabrahamson - how many hours apart were the draws? 48 or 36?

@eabrahamson Praying for you now girl <3 It's okay. It doesn't mean they won't double the next beta. Hcg typically doubles every 72 hours. Like pp asked, how many hours apart? From what I understand, every woman is different and every pregnancy is different. If it helps, mine was only 14 and went back down. Don't be alarmed yet. I know that is SO much easier said than done. Praying hard for you!

@wishiwaspreggo Okay, from her posts, I think her first beta was on the 20th, but I cannot tell if she got results from second beta this morning at 5:40am or if she got them the day before, which would be too early. I think the numbers going up at all is a good thing.

@wine_mama16 Oh girl, I completely understand. Clomid made me ahem, a "bit" nutty lol! Mh and I had to make fun of it, a lot, to get through it. I have a young male friend at the place I used to work when I was on clomid whom I told about a lot of our treatment cycles. One day, I was talking to him and all of a sudden, I go, "Why are you giving me that face?" His eyes got really big and he said, "I didn't know I was making a face." I realized right away what it was and started laughing. Then I got really really hot and started breathing in heavily because I felt so nutty. I said, "Omg, this sh!# is ridiculous and I'm really nutty right now!" He was so supportive and was like, "Okay, uh, do you want something from the kitchen? A water? How about some of those salt and vinegar chips you like?"  :D

It will be over pretty much as soon as you stop taking it. Hang in there!

  • @eabrahamson will they have you in again in 48 hrs to test again? I'm sorry you didn't get a strong rise.  I know how hard that is.  I truly hope it's just on the normal side of slow rising HCG and it picks up soon.

@kra6789 I'm sorry, the negatives are so hard.  I hope you have something fun you can distract yourself with this weekend.

I decided to be a different person this time around (not really sure why) and bought the cheap HCG test strips from Amazon.  Tested today (9dpo, way too early) but TW it was negative, not really surprised but of course still wish it was a squinter! end TW.  Will test again tomorrow and hope for the best but as always I'm prepared for the worst.

@eabrahamson Ok, so I'm betting on the fact they didn't wait 72 hours. Your numbers would've already doubled by now. What time tomorrow is your 2nd beta? What time zone are you in?

@kra6789 I'm sorry honey  :'(:'(:'(  We've been waiting 6 years (I hope this gives you hope) so I do understand. All the love and hugs. <3

  • @suzycupcake they only waited 48 hours. The third test was today at 3- pacific time- should have the results in a few hours. @wishing-and-hoping thanks so much!

@linz36 thank you, it was super early so I’m hoping for good news later today.

Ill update you all all once I hear!
  • Hi Everyone, this is my first time ever posting.
I have been ttc for 20 cycles. We tried for 18 cycles naturally, and I had testing done and found out I have unexplained infertility. I am 34 years old.
We did our first IUI in February and i ended up getting AF two days early, so we are trying the same protocol this time, plus progesterone.
March 21st was my second IUI. I took 100mg of Clomid cd 3-7, triggered on the 19th. 2dpiui, I started progesterone. At cd 10 I had three follicles that were maturing, two at 17 and one at 15. I am assuming they all got bigger since the IUI wasn’t until CD 15.
Hope this isn’t over sharing, but last cycle I was convinced I was pregnant because of my symptoms and this cycle I don’t have any yet.
Its been helpful to read about everyone’s journey and I am glad to finally be allowed to post. Hope we all get BFPs soon!
  • @hlthybaby2018 - welcome! I have found this forum to be very valuable. Hope you get your BFP soon!

@eabrahamson yay!!!! I’m so excited for you!!!! I have to say that I wish they had waiting longer to test your second beta so you didn’t have to worry so much (my doctor made me wait 4 days between all of mine). But I’m so happy that it’s rising appropriately!!!!!!!

@hlthybaby2018 welcome to the group and don’t worry, most things you’ll share won’t be TMI. Hopefully this IUI works out for you!!!!!

  • @hlthybaby2018 Welcom, I hope your stay here is short, and you get your BFP soon

@eabrahamson yay!! I've been checking in bc I was rooting for you and was praying your number rose! I think yours marks the third BFP this month right? That's pretty crazy and I hope it happens for everyone else as well.

Have been feeling pretty low the last few days, we are four dpiui and I just don't really think it worked. I don't know if that's just me trying to protect my heart from another negative or if it's intuition or what, but I just feel prettt negative and a little stuck and hopeless. To top it all off a friend of mine announced a pregnancy a little while ago and her due date is the same as what our would have been if our early loss in November had been the real deal and not a loss. Today she did her gender announcement and that also didn't help, bc I keep thinking about all that we would be doing if that hadn't happened, finding out the gender, getting a nursery ready, planning a shower, etc. I know it just wasn't meant to be and it was really early, but it still sucks. Trying to stay positive, I just don't succeed every day. Thanks everyone for listening though, it's so nice to be able to have somewhere to cheer others on and to also just have a place to share feelings that are hard to express to others. Thank you all for being here, truly.

  • I have a hard time finding time to write (on a crazy deal that keeps me on only four hours of sleep.... and Clomid this week gave me horrible insomnia on top of it), but congrats on all the BFPs to folks this month! Yay!

@rmartin_ttc I totally hear your pain. This past week my colleague at week ambushed me with a pregnancy announcement. My boss two months ago announced a pregnancy. And so did another colleague. Three of the six in my group will be on maternity/paternity leave at the same time and as the only female left to plan their baby showers, I am now stuck doing that (plus covering for them on work while they are out, which will be overwhelming). And I am pretty sure I have been trying longer than them. After I heard this latest pregnancy announcement, I spent an hour crying in my office rather than working. My husband even cried for me once he saw how devastated I was.

Tomorrow I go for day 12 ultrasound. Hoping I didn’t grow over a dozen follicles this time like last time!
  • @rmartin_ttc <3 I hope that all of the clouds go away very soon.

  • @scully127 I hope you get the right number of follicles :)

@rmartin_ttc I know how it can be when it seems like everyone you know is pregnant! So frustrating especially having to plan showers and such. Yes I think I am the third one.

@suzycupcake thanks so much. I am cautiously optimistic!

@linz36 I also wish they had waited- seems so early to do everything!!

@tinjp78 thanks! Just trying to enjoy each day without worrying too much :)
  • @eabrahamson - Congratulations!!!! Great beta numbers :) I was thinking positive thoughts for you.

@martin_ttc - I understand having the post-IUI blues. I've been in your shoes (with a partner having done IUI) and have done the IUI myself. It's harder being the non-TTC partner, IMO, because you don't really know what the other is experiencing and feeling and you can't force her to POAS lol... meanwhile I have a drawer full of Wondfos to appease my mind. In any case, I'm sorry you're feeling low. I'm glad you're here to vent and we understand! I like venting here, too.

Sorry for the BFNs this month, @kra6789 and @wishing-and-hoping :( I know we all know the odds of IUI succeeding but it's still incredibly hard not to get your hopes up.

AFM, ugh, I *feel* pregnant and it's such a mind-effer. Especially with still getting positive HPTs from the trigger. I know it's just the trigger because I'm only 7 DP IUI but I still wonder "what if?" Wherever that HCG is coming from, it's not an implanted emrbyo. It'll be hard to get a BFN after all my symptom spotting. I wish I wasn't being so crazy about all this but I can't help it. Silver lining is I'll be happy to have control over my appetite again. It's been insane these past few days.
  • I am out... again. Apparently I grew five mature follicles on 75 mg of Clomid so they cancelled my IUI. I will probably have cysts again next month so I will probably be out until May. I had a good cry but then decided that if I am not going to be pregnant I am going to go on a big vacation or something (like New Zealand or something). Have to find something to keep my sanity.

@scully127 I'm so sorry. I'm angry for you! Are you going to ask that they switch to femara to see if that changes things for you? Not sure if you saw my post to you about that (I was quite moody that day so sorry if it came out badly), but this happened to me too. Switching to something different was a game changer. I've not gotten one cyst on it.

Cysts just suck and they hurt a lot. Full pelvic rest sucks too but it's the only way. I'm glad to see that you'll plan a vacation. New Zealand sounds amaze! <3

  • @scully127 I'm so sorry for the multiple baby announcements and the bad news at the doctors. That's so disappointing and disheartening. Have you tried doing a totally unmediated but monitored cycle, to see if you naturally make a few follicles? It seems like your body might already do a good job with follicle production if it overreacts so crazily to a small amount of clomid. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that your re figures out how to work around the overstimulation and prayers and vibes sent that you will be on track towards your BFP soon.

    @suzycupcake Thank you  <3

@wishiwaspreggo I can't decide if it would be harder to be in my shoes as the partner who
isnt actually doing the iui or the one who is. Sometimes I think my wife takes the negatives harder than I do, and feels broken or inadequate in some way. I try to reassure her that it's not her fault and that regardless I love her no matter what, but I definitely think it's hard. But equally because of that I try to be more positive around her and hold in some
of my negativity bc I don't want to make it worse for her. I think it's so give and take. I'll find out eventually, hopefully, bc I would like to carry baby number 2, if we ever get to baby number 1  :D
  • @rmartin_ttc - Yeah, I get that. I tried to keep my negativity to a minimum, too, and tried to avoid pressuring my W into testing. I felt like I had to hold my feelings in more. I carried our first child and the plan was for her to carry the second. She had two failed IUIs and we later found out she has very low AMH (0.2) so it's unlikely she'll ever have a biological baby unless we went the full IVF route. Ironically we thought it would be easier for her to get pregnant than it was for me but here we are. Her desire to have a biological baby isn't so strong that she's willing to do that. Since it's significantly less expensive and easier for me, I must do this again. TW - pregnancy mentioned -

My pregnancy was rough so I'm not super excited to do it again. I mean, the end result is so wonderful that I'd do it 1000 times over if I had to but UGH, when you're a woman married to a woman you kinda expect that maybe she can shoulder part of the work for you. She tried, and it's not at all her fault, but I am sad that we won't have a bio baby from her. And I'm nervous about my pregnancy again. My bladder has already gone to shit and I had really bad round ligament pain from 2nd tri onward. I was basically a walking corpse during the final weeks and I gave birth a month early. Some women have lovely, pleasant pregnancies and they glow and have energy, and spend their time nesting. Then there was me, the bloated, pale, waddling, pitiful, wheezing woman you steer clear of at the grocery store.

  • Thanks, all!!

@suzycupcake Sorry for not responding earlier (I saw your post and was very appreciative of it but was overwhelmed with my job and lack of sleep... being a lawyer is miserable at times). :) For whatever reason this doctor won’t put me on Femara even though I asked him. I sometimes see other doctors in this practice (like when my regular doctor is in surgery) so my plan was so ask another doctor next time when I see him/her. The cysts don’t hurt me tons - I just feel bloated.

@rmartin_ttc An unmedicated cycle may not be a bad idea. But it is strange. One month I did 100 mg of Clomid and had a perfect response. I react in an unpredictable manner. But I still don’t have good ovulation and have luteal phase defect each month (Clomid barely lengthens things). We must have tried naturally for over 20 cycles, but they were all failures.
  • Awwww @wishiwaspreggo re; your spoiler, I wish I could hug you right now <3

@scully127 Hmmmmm, has he tried checking your p levels 7dpiui? That can cause lp defect for sure. Lol I just imagined you questioning his a$$ like you would do in a courtroom  :D

I'm glad you don't feel much pain with the cysts. You're one of the lucky ones. Maybe since you had a good cycle with clomid once then it can happen again. fx for you!

  • @scully127 I realized it sounded a little stupid after I posted bc you were probably already trying with unmedicated cycles, I think about our own experience and forget that's an option lol. But I would definitely ask about the femara. Our doctor wouldn't consider it until we did four rounds with clomid and now after two rounds of femara he's still hesitant to move towards injectibles. We're seeking a second opinion at the end of April with a different RE.
  • @scully127 I'm sorry you got benched again. I really hope that your RE would get the right game plan for you. Get lots of sun and fresh air on that trip you are planning, and come May you'd be well and ready for your next round.

@wishiwaspreggo  Sending lots of Internet hugs. I'm sorry to hear what you went through on your last pregnancy. I hope that it won't be the same the next time around, that you'll have a stress free and easy one this time.

@rmartin_ttc I'm sorry you're feeling low and negative about this cycle and sorry you have to deal with pregnancy announcements around you. This journey is truly hard. When I broke down in tears on my 12dpiui last cycle because my temp went down signaling an upcoming AF, my DH reminded me what a dr on a blog he is following had said. He said "be neutral" - don't be too hopeful and too down. It makes sense to me. It isn't that easy to balance our emotions but I think it's worth the try.
  • @Chartleib Yay! I'm rooting for you! I hope you find something to smile and laugh about each day. Take good care of yourself and enjoy the TWW! I'm trying to change my view on things from now. It's a given that the TWW is harsh so we all tend to struggle and stress on it which I think is not cool, so instead I'm hoping for everyone to take it easy but also mindful of what our bodies are going through. <3
  • @Chartleib Yayyyyyy, fx for you!

@Chartleib Hoping 7 will be your lucky number (it is mine!)

@wishiwaspreggo so sorry to hear about the rough time you went through last pregnancy. Hopefully this one will be 1000x better!

@scully127 so sorry to hear you're out this round, but glad to hear you responded to the Clomid, despite it being a bit too much...

@rmartin_ttc ugh, social media is the worst!  I know I mentioned this before but deleting Facebook was one of the best things I did for my sanity throughout the infertility struggles!

    ETA:

I miss you guys but don't know what the protocol is to stop updating here. I don't want to upset anyone, so PLEASE let me know if I am. My pregnancy is going really well so far! My husband and I went away for a long weekend this weekend which has helped with my anxiety. My beta levels so far have been "phenomenal" per my doctor this afternoon. It's starting to feel real! Ultrasound scheduled for 4/4. EEKKKKKKKK

    4w: HCG 104

    4w3d: HCG 250

    5w: HCG 1,055

  • @mybabylove2018 Hello there, I hope you get the answer to the question you asked at the 2017 thread. Welcome!

Afm, I had a 225iu HMG shot on CD7 and now CD9 I'm on my way to get my second shot of HMG. I have 4follies growing- 2 on each ovary and Dr is planning to make all 4 ovulate. I'll have a CD11 scan to see if I'm good to go for my IUI#3 on Sat or Mon next week.
  • @tinjp78 This is a message for your follies:
