It ended up being fine and we did iui this morning. It was a bit uncomfortable because my doctor is not there on Saturdays. I've never had a male doctor examine my lady parts before, but he was so gentle and had a great bedside manner. He talked to mh and I the entire time, and even taught us some things. I did not feel any pain at all. Another male doctor came in right before he placed the catheter because it's a teaching clinic so he has to oversee the man doing the iui. He had a really chipper disposition and said, "Hello!" I felt so bad but I responded, "Okay, I really need to relax. Everyone calm down."

Because my legs were open and my vagina opened and he just walks into the room. My legs started to shake. How was I supposed to relax??? Lol, I seriously feel bad for that other doctor, but dang. He should've come in at the start so I could talk to him a little bit before he scopes out my goods.

@AlohaKumu Wow! That's incredible. I did not know that they can do that. Fx that you get some answers soon!

@meganttc3 I had an HSG a few weeks ago and it really wasn't that bad. The advice I got from my RE was to go to someone who was very experienced in doing them, not a hospital radiologist, who may have to call an OB/GYN to actually insert the dye, etc. Even if it means paying a little more, make sure to go to someone who is used to placing speculums, etc. I think that was solid advice because the radiologist I had was very thoughtful and clearly knew what he was doing. Inserting the tube for the dye insertion can cause a little bit of cramping, but the test itself is a few minutes long, and not really painful. You have to wear a pad for the rest of the day because the dye will leak. The results take about a day to "officially" be read, but if the radiologist is nice, they should let you know what they think as they are viewing the images. Interestingly, my friend got an HSG and said she got pregnant right afterward. Apparently there's an urban legend that insertion of the dye causes some mucous plugs to break through and allows for better egg delivery. Who knows. Good luck with it!
  • @blumoon18 my RE is doing it at his office. They do everything there themselves which is what I love about them. My RE told Mr that there is a higher chance of getting pregnant for a few months after a HSG because it cleans your tubes out so things can pass through more easily. I can only hope I will be that lucky but with my luck it won't happen. At least maybe I will know something after these tests.
  • @meganttc3 Hey welcome and sorry you find yourself in this group.. I actually found the HSG the most uncomfortable of all the tests but for only like a min. They say take some Advil about 30 min prior to going. They whole test lasts about 5 min, maybe.
  • @meganttc3 My HSG was not terribly painful. I took ibuprofen about an hour before the test was scheduled. Supposedly if your tubes are blocked, the dye pushing through can be more painful. Otherwise, the balloon catheter was the most uncomfortable part of it. Put in a hard piece of candy or gum before you get on the table. Focus on the taste & the feeling of that. (#Mindfullness :D ).

@emmasemm Here’s to hoping your results come back soon!

AFM, we decided to take a weekend trip for our anniversary and to get away after the last few cycles.  We ended up leaving by 4am this morning & driving 2hrs home bc he was sick.  Unamused.
  • @suzycupcake sorry there was so much traffic during your IUI. I’ve taken to thinking of them just looking at my leg and forgetting they’re looking at my lady parts and inside my body.

  • @ndz2018 thanks for the info. No one has mentioned how long the test would be and in my mind I was thinking a lot longer but I sure ash glad it's not.

@jrm_14 that's a good trick. I will definitely try that! They offered my valium but I don't like to take any extra pills if I can help it.
Im sorry about your trip! That sucks! Did you get to have any fun at all?

@emmasemm Thanks for the welcome. This board is definitely more active and I am looking forward to learning from everyone here. Is always good to have a support system!
  • @emmasemm Thank you. That's a good idea. I thought that if my muscles were tight, then he couldn't get the catheter in the cervix and it would hurt. I was probably so nervous because last iui, it was sharp momentarily. It wasn't that big of a deal, but I didn't want to experience it again. I think the last lady just went too fast.

@jrm_14 Sorry the trip was cut short, but
