Re: TTCAL week of 2/26

  • 1. Ttc since 1/17. Cp 3/17. Nmc 9/17.
    2. TWW 6DPO-ish. Not feeling it this month. Probably won't test unless AF is late.
    3. Rant-ish: We have a ms pacman machine. I'd had the high score forever but this weekend DH beat it! Game. On.
    4. GTKY: Rainbow Bright and My Little Pony!
  • Loading the player...
  • 1. Not new, 3 early losses in 2017.
    2. WTO, CD 9 today.
    3. Rant: I gotta lose weight, ya’ll. Got on the scale this morning and it was an eye-opener. Going to start working out again this week, but ugh! Working out is hard. Rave: DH is home! He was gone all weekend camping and even though I had a blast watching Netflix in my pajamas all weekend with the pups, I missed him!
    4. GTKY: Gem & the Holigrams! And of course Looney Tunes and My Little Pony.
  • 2. Status? CD 18. WTO.
    3. Rant/Rave: A friend of mine confided in me before the holidays that they were having troubles getting PG with their second (had complications with their first) and we were going to try to get together. It didn't work out, so over the weekend I messaged her again about trying to get together now that the holidays were over and asked her what kind of struggles she was having... and she replied that she got PG soon after our last conversation and is due this summer. *sigh* I feel like the only person in my circle of friends who has struggled with PG issues, is still trying, and has NOT gotten their magical take-home baby yet. Super sucks. Feel like I'm living in a land of solitary hateful sadness.
    4. GTKY: what was your favorite cartoon growing up? Magic Schoolbus and Captain Planet when I was a bit older. Other classics when I was super young :)

cassafrass15  Ugh... losing weight sucks. I'm totally on that path right now. Good luck to you!

  • 1. Pretty new, D and C in Oct and two CPs back to back Jan and Feb.
    2. First appointment with a RE tomorrow. Feeling hopeful and very nervous at the same time.
    3. @cassafrass15 I’m with you in the weight loss boat. It’s a constant struggle.
    4. Anyone remember zoobily zoo? I LOVED that show!
  • Status? CD 12 WTO. FET #2 planned for March.
Rant: I think my body has forgotten how to O. I usually O between CD 13-15 but I'm not even close to Oing yet. My biggest follicle is only 1.1 (two more that are 0.9) and my LH is only 8.8. Been on fertility meds every cycle in the last year except for two, so I think my body is a little out of sorts. I go back Wednesday for more monitoring. If I trigger Fri or Sat then my embryo transfer will be either the following Sat or Sun so FX the timing works out and I don't have to take a day off work.
GTKY: My mom was fairly strict with TV use so I used to soak up every show I could on Saturday and Sunday mornings while she was sleeping or cleaning and wanted to be left alone for a few hours lol! Some of my favs: TMNT, Transformers, Inspector Gadget, Teddy Ruxpin (had the toy too!), Popples (also had a few of these), J.E.M, Smurfs, Ghostbusters. I totally miss the 80's....

@cassafrass15 Working out is so hard to stick with! I have 40 lbs I've gained in the last 4 years due to TTC & life stress so I hear you. I just can't seem to get motivated right now but I know I've got to get my act together. GL!

@tosh24 I was wondering how things were going for you. Hope the timing of it all works out nicely for you. On a side note I had an AWESOME TMNT toy box that I adored growing up. I just found out my mom donated it to goodwill a couple of years ago. I was devastated! Haha

Status: CD8, WTO. Gonna start OPK’s for the first time ever this week.
Rant: I’m in the process of putting together my application for renewing my Green Card, and it’s so boring. Since my GC is marriage based, I have to show proof of husband and I being a real couple. Bills, tax returns, pictures, plane tickets, email exchanges etc from the last two years. Kill me now.
Rave: I’m excited to see Black Panther this weekend!
GTKY: Oh man. Must be a tie between Moomin and The Animals of Farthing Woods.

    3. Rant/Rave: I have two mature follicles.  I was hoping for 4 again but at least there are 2
    4. GTKY: what was your favorite cartoon growing up? Shirt Tales and Care Bears
  • @cassafrass15 I need to lose 20-25. It’s such a struggle and not my focus right now.  However, I went to eating basically fruit and veggies only during the day and then eat normal dinner and I was down 1.4 lbs this week. So I’m sticking with that to see if continues to work for me

@dpjennifer I’m glad you responded to that other post! I also feel like everyone around me is getting KU.  3 announcements this past week.  My cousin just announced hers, she is 21 and was not excited by it.   Annoying.

    @char245 good luck with RE

@tosh24 I hope it works out so you don’t have to take time off

@grebretso good luck with OPKs and green card process.  My friend went through naturalization process and it was a pain
  • @Mack2342 Thanks! Naturalization is a lot harder than what I’m doing, good on your friend for making it through! It’s hopefully in my future though, depending on my home country’s future decision to allow dual citizenship or not. They currently don’t, so I’ll stay a Permament Resident for the time being.

  • @dpjennifer you didn’t go to far.  If she would’ve posted on TWW board it wouldn’t have been so bad.
  • @Mack2342 good luck with the IUI 2 follicles is great, all it takes is one!
  • @dpjennifer Ugh, sorry. That majorly sucks. No word of a lie, I have found out 1-2 friends/family members are KU per week the last month and it is slowly KILLING me.

@MAck2342 Yay for two follies! I know it's always the hope to have more, but FX these are two good quality follies - quality over quantity! GL on your IUI on Wed!

@kath525 Haha I have this irrational nostalgic attachment to basically everything from my childhood. My mom has moved twice in the last couple of years and has gotten rid of a lot of stuff from when I was a kid. It's a good thing I can't fit another thing in storage or else it all would have ended up at my place for no reason other than it was mine 30 years ago lol.

rave - my 4 yo violin student is doing so well. I don't normally teach that young cause I find it difficult but she's a great kid.

Rant - our DD got the flu. I saw blood in her vomit tonight and panicked so we went to ugent care. Apparently it's normal and the flu is bad this year. They are going to give her zofran.

gtky - hard to pick 1 cartoon. I loved tom and Jerry, rugrats, Doug, muppets

@40momma I literally laughed out loud at crossing fingers uncrossing legs
  • 1. Introduce yourself (if new): not so new anymore.  CP in late 2017, MMC and D&C last month
    2. Status? CD10, WTO and using OPKs
    3. Rant/Rave: Rant: This is such a blah time of year where I live so I'm trying to keep busy but it's hard.  Work is too slow for my liking, so all I do is Google TTC at 40 with recurrent losses, etc.  Probably not a good idea.  I'm also sick of people saying that the next pregnancy will be "the one" and not to worry.  How do you know?!  Rave: My six week leave for the summer got approved, yay!
    4. GTKY: what was your favorite cartoon growing up? Inspector Gadget, TMNT, Looney Tunes, Smurfs, Fraggle Rock.  We weren't allowed much screen time, so weekend mornings were the best!

@Mack2342 Hopefully one of those follies is the one!  Good luck with the IUI.

@tosh24 I was wondering if we had lost you under a snow bank :)  I hope you trigger on the weekend so you can have the transfer done without missing work.  Fingers crossed!

@Grebretso Good luck with the paperwork.  Such a pain.  My husband is Danish, and Denmark doesn't recognize dual citizenship yet either, so he hasn't bothered applying for citizenship.  Hopefully soon though....

@40momma Lol!  I almost lost a mouthful of tea there!

@char245 Good luck with your RE appointment.  Hopefully they have a plan for you.  I'm anxiously awaiting my first appointment in April.

  • 1. Introduce yourself (if new) - MC at 6 weeks in November.
    2. Status? TWW CD 21.
    3. Rant/Rave: Rant - I'm still getting over illness.. it's been 3 and a half weeks, stomach flu turned into a throat infection, turned into a cold... I'm so over being sick.
Rave - It's almost March Break ( in 9 days!! but whose counting?). Can not wait to have a week off!!
    4. GTKY: what was your favorite cartoon growing up? Arthur was definitely my favourite.
  • @vlagrl29 i would have freaked out if there was blood in my kid's vomit too.
@grebretso just went through that with my brother in law. Such a pain.
@coco2787 i totally forgot about ren and stimpy!!
  • Ahh the rest of my post didn't show up.
    3. I had to leave book club the other night as I couldn't handle all of the strong opinions being thrown out. The book discussion was on babies, adoption and surrogates. Nobody there knows my struggle.
    4. I would have to say smurfs, Flintstones and care bears although I usually just watched whatever my older brother was watching.

@vlagrl29 and @mrsdrez the flu seems to be extra bad this year

@bakerstreetboys no need to Google, I've got all of that info already on my past searches I can send your way
  • 2. Status? WTO CD 11... but benched this cycle.  I'm still really happy about it, just ask me... LOL.
    3. Rant/Rave: Rave first because I feel so negative:  I've got a semi quiet day at work to get myself organized and get my head back on straight which is nice!  I also have a therapy appt tonight that I've realllllllly been needing.  Rant: all of the benched/insurance things still.  And knowing my sister is 8 wks PG from getting KU immediately after her ectopic at the end of December.  I'm just still having such a hard time knowing we've not only been effed over and taken for a ride on our home for a year now, but it's five months after my MC and we are still waiting another month to even be able to try again... and things work out just like *that* for people around me.  It was waiting for my period, waiting for a polyp to be removed, waiting some more, and then finding out there was no polyp, and then one quick unsuccessful shot before unnecessary chicken pox shot.  RE follow up tomorrow to probably go over our plan for addressing my PCOS/lining issues next cycle and it makes me want to throw up.  I hate appointments now.
    4. GTKY: what was your favorite cartoon growing up? Honestly not that into them, but I did enjoy The Magic Schoolbus!

@dpjennifer and @Mack2342 I'm so there with you with watching everyone around you....   my family is so close and my sister is five minutes away.  I don't know how I'm going to get through all of it... like how do you throw someone a baby shower when you are in a HORRIBLE place and so much pain but you love them and would want them to do it for you, so.....!?  Watching my parents get congratulated for being first time grandparents when we spent a month last year thinking we were giving them that and we've been in this for longer.  I know it's hard with friends, too... there are just so many hard moments for all of us.  Hugs to you guys.  AND FK for you and your follies, Mack!

@char245 Good luck!  I hope you like your doctor!  Just take a deep breath and know that it's the start of more testing/answers/etc and a new journey working through it!

@tosh24 I hope the timing works out for you!  Missing work is so hard when you also don't really need it to be other people's business.  I'm a speech therapist and don't get a substitute when I'm out so I get to e-mail 4-8 teachers usually each time I need to be out which is A LOT lately.  I either get to over share to explain myself or get guilt that they don't know what's up and I'm always out.  It's fun.

@vlagrl29 We have had so much flu at school this year, it's gross.  I hope your little one is better soon!

@40momma I so needed that laugh!

@bakerstreetboys Add me to the google club.  I tried to stop and then figured out on my own that I had a vaccine I didn't need, so here I am again.  Can't stop won't stop.

@vlagrl29 Oh no! That sounds awful (and I would have been super scared too about the blood!). I hope your DD feels better soon.

@bakerstreetboys Hahaha well, not this week - no more snow over here (except under trees)! But I fully expect our typical March snow storm in the coming weeks so I'm not getting too excited about the grass just yet! Just been feeling really overwhelmed lately and with every failure I feel like my losses were my last chance at getting a baby so I've mainly been on lurker mode.

ETA: @ccvslp (we must have posted at the same time) Yeah, missing work is hard. I'm very lucky that I am salaried based on "averaging hours", so as long as I've worked my full hours per pay period (every two weeks) I can generally work them when I want, within reason (so if I'm out for a day, I can just work an extra hour here and there over the pay period to make it up without having to take a vacation day). Right now I'm getting into my busy season so it's just getting hard to make up the hours and not be behind on work. I would hate to have to share with others why I'm out (I don't even need to tell my boss anything other than "out of the office" so I'm lucky there too). Someone suggested to me once that you just have a blanket statement like "I am currently dealing with a medical issue and will require time away from the office periodically" and then whenever you need to be out for an appointment/monitoring, you don't have to say anything more and hopefully it will lessen the guilt.

  • Thanks ladies!  She was monitored on zofran and gatorade and had a chest xray which was fine.  The zofran was a life saver.  They told us to stop taking tamiflu as they thought it was worsening the symptoms for her.  So far she hasn't gotten sick since we put her to bed last night.  Got home about 2am.

  • Thanks for the support ladies! The appointment went well and we really like the doctor, but as you all know now it’s just more waiting and testing. It’s not like I thought they were going to figure anything out today but I don’t think I realized it would be another month or two of testing before we really have a plan womp womp. Oh well, at least I feel like we are working towards something.
  • @tosh24 That’s good advice... I think a blanket statement e-mail is in order and then I’ve said my peace... and I’ll either keep being out for treatment cycles or I’ll get to be out for PG appts if I’m a really positive thinker.  Trying.

@char245 I know it... all I do is wait, I can sympathize.  My follow up after the rest of the labs and things she wanted to round everything out is tomorrow and I have approximately 387 questions to ask.
  • I have heard wonderful things about this board and though it would be wrong to say I'm *glad* to join you, I am looking forward to becoming part of this supportive community.

    1. Diagnosed with a MMC last Thursday at 9+6, my first pregnancy, ended up having an emergency D&C in the ER this Mon/Tue (wrote long graphic description of the whole process and posted it on the Miscarriage & Loss board). Doc said we could start trying again as soon as the bleeding stopped. Stopped today, and we plan to start trying again next week.

    2. Status? I must have a lot of lingo to learn here cause I don't understand anyone else's responses. I am not going to be tracking ovulation or anything for the first 1-2 cycles, just trying to have regular sex.

    3. Rant/Rave: I feel like I'm too busy to process what's happening and like I haven't fully dealt with it emotionally yet. My husband has been a rock start this week, and took off to be home with me yesterday and today.

    4. My fav cartoons were Magic School Bus and Ghostbusters. When I was much younger, Rainbow Bright.

@cassafrass15 - I am on the healthy train too. I'd like to lose around 30 pounds and have been doing boot camp 2-3 times per week, except obviously not this week. I just remind myself in the interim it might be ideal, but not necessary, to lose that weight -- women of all sizes have been having healthy babies for millennia after all, right?

@dpjennifer - I have a lot of friends who have recently been letting everyone know they're pregnant. Of course, very few of them know I was pregnant or had a recent miscarriage, and while I am genuinely so happy for them, it certainly makes me feel more lonely in this journey.

  • Kabazaba Your doc is letting you try again after a D&C before 2 weeks is up? I'd double check that as usually after a D&C procedure they don't want anything up 'there' for at least 2 weeks due to infection risks (and usually they clear you for this with a follow-up appointment 2 weeks after the procedure). Also, they usually prefer you to wait until after your next AF for dating purposes, and to give yourself time to heal. Are you SURE your doc meant bleeding from the procedure? • @Kabazaba If you are trying that soon you may want to track w/ OPKs if you know your usual luteal phase length or temping.... although OPKs were impossible to use my first month after MC as the leftover HCG triggers false positives.  If you do end up PG it could be really confusing to figure out what's going on.. and it can be very confusing during the first month not knowing if faint lines are HCG dropping down still or a new PG building up.  I think this is why a lot of docs do recommend waiting one cycle for dating.  Of course, listen to your doctor above everything else, just my two cents!
  • @Kabazaba welcome and sorry for your loss. I agree with what @dpjennifer said.   I’ve had 3 d & cs and that is same info I received
  • @dpjennifer, @Mack2342, @tosh24, @char245 and @Kabazaba Thanks for making me feel less alone, and less guilty, about my weight loss struggles. Misery loves company and excercise and dieting are definitely my definition of misery! Joined a spin studio yesterday - lord help me, but I almost died on that bike and now my butt hurts so bad from the seat.

@tosh24 How are you doing? Were you able to trigger for FET next weekend?

@40momma I bark-laughed at your “uncrossing legs” comment. Love it!

@grebretso The green card process is so tedious! I used to do some immigration law and couldn’t believe how intimate those forms get.

@Kabazaba Welcome, and I’m sorry for your loss. Boot camp sounds like fun/torture! But I bet you burn some major calories.
  • @dpjennifer - Thanks for the help re: acronyms! & @Mack2342 - I was expecting doc to say 2-weeks and/or after period (I'd originally had D&C scheduled and had read both of those tips online), but he was actually kind of encouraging us to try sooner than later, after bleeding & when I was up for it. I specifically asked about waiting for a cycle and he said no. I'm not sure if it was different for me because he didn't actually have to dilate me (TW: I got contractions, and was actually fully dilated before the D&C was done), or what. But I did double check with him since it seemed quicker than what I'd read online. At any rate, we'll see if I'm *actually* read to start next week. It has been such a whirlwind week that I'm not sure I've fully dealt with the loss emotionally, so that may be a bigger roadblock for me.

@ccvslp - Thanks for the advice. I don't anticipate I'd get PG so quickly, and even if so, don't think I'd test until April or later given that I would just assume at this point any BFP was related to the leftover hCG levels from the miscarriage. I think I just mean I'm not going to be avoiding sex, rather than actively trying, beginning next week. Will probably start actively trying again in 1-2 cycles when I have a feel for my new "normal."

  • @Kabazaba welcome and I’m sorry about your loss! That’s encouraging that your doctor said to try again as soon as you’re ready. It’s so interesting the different information that’s out there. Just today I told my RE that I had a question because I had been googling and her response was uh-oh lol.
  • @Kabazaba Makes total sense!  My sister actually did just get pregnant in January before she even had a period after an ectopic... was a big shocker!  I'm sure no matter what you will figure things out and trusting and following your doctor's advice is the most important thing!

@char245 I lol'd at the "uh-oh."  They have to come to expect it now in the age of google, though, right?  I told my doctor that I had already read everything on the internet and I needed to be done and she laughed at me (not in a malicious way, more of a sympathetic one... haha!)
  • @Kabazaba welcome to the group and I am so sorry about your loss. Please take time to deal with this. I cannot stress enough how emotionally hard this can be if you do not have the right support systems in place. Talk to your partner, share your loss with family and friends if you feel comfortable. Reach out to us. Take care of yourself.
  • @Kabazaba I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm glad you decided to join us over here.  After my loss I was desperate to get pregnant again but sometimes it's good to give yourself a cycle to process and heal.  My doctor told me to wait a cycle after my D&C for dating purposes, but didn't give me a medical reason.  It seems like every doctor gives different advice, I know some people are told to wait 3 cycles.

  • @Kabazaba Sorry for your loss, but welcome to the group.  It sounds like your husband has been really supportive, which is so important.  Definitely give yourself time to heal.  Post D&C, I was also told to wait until after my first period to start TTC again, and though it was hard to wait, I'm happy that I did.
  • Kabazaba Weird advice from your doctor, but at least you're following what he says! I'd definitely temperature chart ASAP if I were you if there's any chance you could end up PG this cycle. OPKs and PG tests can give you false positives if there's still HCG in your system. So, temping is really the only way to know if/when you ovulated and if you should expect AF or it's possible you're PG.
