thank you everyone! doing more research i found that Molly is an established nickname for Mary - i didn't know that, and at one time we talked about using the name Molly as a first name, we have since moved away from that but i told DH her given name can be Mary and if we want to use a nickname we could go with Molly

We need help with a middle name. The first name will be Luxleigh (don’t need opinions on it because it’s stayin!).
Originally it was going to be Luxleigh Rae after my moms middle name if we were to have a girl with our second. The second ended up being a boy and we used Rae for his middle name. Not planning to have more kids.
Sooo now we get our girl and get to use Luxleigh like we wanted but are so lost on a middle name. The only family name we liked for the middle name was Marie but DHs mom looked pissed when we told her that as it’s one of her sisters middle name and not hers...
So we need help with finding a one syllable (preferable) middle name that works with Luxleigh (Leigh is the female version of Lee if you don’t know).
Finally talked with DH about boy names now that we know it's a boy. So far on our list...
August (nn Auggie or Gus) Felix (but I don't like any nns for it really, I just love how Hugo and Felix sound together) Theo Milo Finn or Flynn Apollo (which could have the nn Ollie, which I love, and don't like how popular Oliver is) Thatcher Winston Dillon Emmett Gavin

@elsieisamoocow love all of your boy names- just a caution, with winston, you may end up with the nickname winnie/winny, at least from other kids. I still love the name as a whole
@nll0803 Yeah, we were talking about that too. I don't mind it but kids can be cruel!

I am with you on this. I just need DH to come up with his own short list and bring it to me. But he always says he is "too tired" to think of/research names. It's not hard, dude.

I just love that you just called our infamous Lee a dude
I assume you’re referring to me? I don’t really actually care about boy and girl name spellings. Hence me using Rae (female version for Ray) as my sons middle name. It was more so that most people thing Leigh is pronounced like lay....
Besides, I was born in England and my spelling of my name Hailey is the male version...my parents got a lot of flack for it from the hospital staff.
@elsieisamoocow August and Emmett are on our short list too! Love those names. Also really love Theo - but one of our friends named their kid Theodore, so that's a no go for us.
You can't go wrong with any of these names! Emmett was going to be my #1 if this one was a boy and we have a Gavin so I'm super partial to those 2 names
We still don't know....this is the list we agree on:
Charles Frederick (both of our grandfather's names - both passed, mine just in November).
Other first name options with Charles being middle name for all because that's non-negotiable for me:
Oliver Finn - however DH doesn't like Finn alone and we can't agree on a longer version of it to be a nickname (Finnian, Finnigan, etc) Camden Cameron
Nothing is super speaking to me though right now. I have a feeling we'll go with the first because it's the most meaningful and we'll just deal with having a cat with the name Charlie for a few years until he dies hahah
@scottishlass1213 - I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandfather. What a beautiful way to honor him. The name Charles Frederick is wonderful, I say go for it and it just makes a funny story to tell that your cat and your son shared a name for a bit
@elsieisamoocow All very solid choices! I love the name Theo though, so that's my top pick. Would you do Theodore and just shorten it, or just Theo? I like both options!

I feel like with our last name it'll sound a bit like a law or investment firm but oh well hahaha I just think a little toddler called Charlie is adorable haha Plus my cousin already used his last name, Grant as their kid's first name. Otherwise I would've done that.
lol! I get the law firm thing. When we migrate to a more private forum I'll share with the group the nightmare that is finding a first name to go with DH's last name. Ugh.
I'll second a little kid named Charlie being adorable. The only other male aside from my son that has been born into my family in the last three years is named Charlie. I love him to pieces. He's the cutest little guy ever, and I can't wait for him to have his new little buddy.
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
Girls name will be Lillian Mae after our maternal grandmothers. We decided on John as a middle name after my grandfather, but are at a loss for a first name. One of the difficulties of being team green. Dh's family also gives babies Chinese names, besides formal legal English names, and I'm deferring that decision to him and his mom, even just to narrow some names down.
@elsieisamoocow All very solid choices! I love the name Theo though, so that's my top pick. Would you do Theodore and just shorten it, or just Theo? I like both options!
I know a Theodore who I'm not a huge fan of So I was thinking just Theo.

Honestly, Luxleigh is such an unusual name, i can’t think of a name that goes with it so I’d probably just slap Marie in the MN spot because it goes with everything.
My husband’s heart is set on the name Abel Joseph.
Joseph is my husband’s name, we will likely keep that as a middle name no matter what.
I love the name Abel one day and then am questioning it the next. I am fearful that people would shorten it to Abe...and I am not a fan of that at all. Also, Abel means “vanity” so there’s that too....
I love the name itself. Just not the meaning or the possible nickname.
@morgan080918 - I get loving a name one second and not the next, we’re in the same position! If you like Abel and people shorten it to Abe you can correct them if you go with the name. Plus not a lot of people will know what it means so I think you’re okay there. You have some time, try using the name in conversation to see if you like hearing it in every day speech rather than just the name by itself
@scottishlass1213 I think Charles Frederick is a top notch name. Love it!!
I also really like Finn and I think it’s best as a stand alone name. I was strongly considering the Irish language variant “Fionn” which is pronounced “Fyun” but I didn’t think Americans would get it...which is kind of dumb because our girl name is an Irish name and I’m sure it will be butchered over here! Did you know that Fiona is the feminine version @calimom2524 ??
@ecwk yeah I liked Finn alone so I don’t think DH and I will ever agree so that name is probably really off. What’s your girl name? Yeah see I like Isla and Catriona but you’re right those names tend to get butchered here and I wouldn’t want to do that and have my kid constantly explaining it haha

Is he on board with Charles Frederick? That name is so awesome! I don’t want to say our name just yet but it’s a lot more difficult than those lol but DH and I decided on it many many moons ago when we lived in Ireland and he won’t budge on it.
@ecwk he’s slightly weirded about about the cat having the same name but we do agree on it overall. Can’t wait to know your name one day! I love heritage type names. We probably would’ve thought about Callum if DS wasn’t Colin. I also really like Hamish but DH said that’s too Scottish hahaha
