Let it be known that as of yesterday, I am officially (per declaration from DD) the Worst Mom in the World. This is after taking her to get pizza, then to see Ferdinand. It was completely unprovoked, and even when I asked her about it later in the day, she said she still thinks it's true and that she said it because she wanted me to cry. After she finished her stint in time out, which gave me time to cry because pregnancy hormones and I am overly sensitive anyway, I explained to her that it is not nice to make people cry and that I will definitely remember this when she asks me for something later*.
While I am disappointed that she wanted to make me cry, I kind of feel like I am at least sort of winning at parenting, since she thinks I'm mean.
*which she did, more than once, and it was glorious to be able to say "well, I would, but I'm the meanest mom in the world, remember?"
@kfren oh those days are so much fun. DS likes they say he doesn't like us or he's 'telling daddy'. and lately he's been known to just say he doesn't like it here and wants to go somewhere else when he's mad. we tell him sure, he can. but all his dinosaurs and toys have to stay here... they don't go with him. I can't wait to have teenagers!!

I'm breaking so many rules today. I'm finishing an 11-hour education thing online for work, and I'm not supposed to have food or drinks at the work station. I have both food and drinks. And I'm on social media (TB). Oops.
@izza2 Well, you did have to clean off your car to come in, so IMO, you're kind of entitled to some rule-breaking.
@catlady1215 Yeah, not exactly excited about DD's teenage years It's exciting to see the linea nigra! I had a very pronounced line (top & bottom) with DD, but with DS1, nothing. Still not seeing anything with DS2. I also wanted to say that I am sorry about all the stuff you're going through with your son's school. Hopefully things will improve soon!
@kfren hang in there! I remember as a kid getting so mad at my parents once that I decided to run away. They were just like fine if that is what you want and they helped me pack my bag and make a sandwich. I got to the end of the block and realized that I wasn't allowed to cross the street so I turned around and went home. I think it's a phase we all go through!
@catlady1215 I have always had a line but I have seen it darkening. What really bugs me is that is it almost perfectly centered but as it comes up to my belly button it curves to the left and connects on the left side of my belly button and then continues perfectly centered on the top of my belly button. The OCD in me cannot handle it!
I was in a bit of a nesting mood last night. We have just been leaving stuff in the guest bedroom/rec room in the basement as we clean out the nursery and organized upstairs so while MH was curling I organized all of the random crap and made a Goodwill box. We got some photos from my MIL from MH's childhood and I was looking at them thinking of where we can put them and I started tearing up. I was literally looking at MH as a kid or teenager thinking I just love him so much.

My 5yo now tells me "I guess you don't love me." When I ask her to clean up toys or anything else she doesn't want to do. That's fun...
We've had constant wind at 30mph, gusting up to 60mph and it's driving me nuts. Doesn't help that our windows suck, and the wind blows right through them. Joys of Army housing...
@May14th2011 +1 on the rattling windows from the stupid wind. My windows on the first floor are all new besides the bay window but all my upstairs windows are the originals from the 70s. Its on my list of things to do this spring. They're just so darn expensive.
@catlady1215 I keep looking at my belly waiting for a line to pop up, but no sign of anything. I wonder if it's because I'm fluffy and my belly skin isn't suuuuper tight yet. Idk. But a crooked line would also drive my OCD self mad, too. I used to line up these little travel lotions I had from bath and body works, which were like my prized possession as a 13 year old. And they would sit there on display on my shelf, perfectly spaced apart, in a particular order and of course I couldn't use any of them because then some would look empty or used and they would no longer be the same. Also couldn't get any new ones except in 2s because, duh, symmetry.
Not pregnancy related at all but I realized yesterday, I have like ZERO family photos hanging or in frames anywhere in our house. I'd like to have some canvas prints done. Does anyone have any recommendations for online places that do high quality canvas prints for not an extreme amount of money?
@May14th2011 omg high winds cause me so much anxiety! The windows aren't too bad, but we bought our home knowing the previous owners had a slap job reroof done and the roof maybe had 3 years life left on it. So every time we have high gusts I'm envisioning shingles flying off... We usually lose a handful with 30+ sustained winds. DH then gets up there to replace them. Well, no babymoon for us as we are replacing our roof this spring. Not sexy at all but I'll sure sleep better! DH thinks this is extreme nesting lol.
@kfren honestly the teenage years is what makes me alittle happy we'll have 2 boys. I'm not sure if I could handle a teenage girl and their emotions.. especially if she ends up like I was lol. and thank you about DS' school! day by day.. all we can do.
so funny about all the crooked line talks. I had to google what that line was called again the other day and the pic that showed up was so crooked, kinda made me cringle alittle.
@aharv77 we are really bad at putting up pics. a few years ago, I finally put some frames around the living room.. and haven't changed the pics yet. I haven't bought any from shutterfly to know if they do canvas. but I know there's always random deals flying through my email weekly so maybe check there and if so, watch for some deals or money off.

We have hardly any family pics or decorations on our walls and we've been in our house for almost 4 years. Our family pics are all from when dd was like 5 moths old.... she's 3 now... and we've taken other family pictures since then. *sigh*
GUISE! I looked up Linea Nigra and I found this...
I will now create my own AW thread and post a picture of my nakey belly and ask you all what gender sex you think my baby is. And when you all flame me I will say it was just for fun and that you're all rude.
Also re: family photos; I started to tell my mothers that if they want to have pictures of their family in my house that they have to give me printed framed photos. Ain't nobody got time for printing and framing photos! We have some of us from engagement photos and our wedding but everything else was given to us.

You're making me so nervous about these teenage years, I have no clue how it's going to be. DH has even been wondering things like "what do we do if she does this/that?" and he's not even asking questions about newborn stage he's asking all these questions about when she's middle school age and I'm just like, uhhh let's get through the first 10 years first hun!
@aharv77 My mom got my wedding one done at Costco (which she gave to me because she redecorated and needed a smaller one) and it turned out nice!
@becca_123 I was an absolute nightmare middle school/teenage kid so this girl has her work set out for her if she wants to surpass me. I threw an actual dining chair across the room at my mom once. My mom is the most docile, low-confrontation person of all time so it's not like I learned it from her. I seriously laugh every time I think about DH dealing with a teenage girl. He has no idea what he's in for.
we will have 2 teenage girls and dh is already worried about the expense of tampons and grooming products...he isn't even thinking about homecoming/prom dresses, hair cuts, etc.
@doxiemoxie212 My sister and I were pretty great as far as our teenage years! Maybe it skips a generation? If so I'm in for it.
On the linea nigra note.. I stepped out the shower this morning and noticed in the mirror a very faint line for the first time. I asked DH to see if he could see anything from across the room and he said he could. Sigh.
I have a genuine question and I hope not to offend anyone but...
Our last name starts with Coon (phonetically not the actual spelling) and MH's family has been obsessed with raccoons for generations because of it. It's partly why our nursery is woodland creatures so we can have some raccoon stuff without it being entirely raccoon but I digress. I found a onesie on Etsy with a raccoon that says "little coon." I was thinking of ordering it for baby's coming home outfit but is it offensive to call someone "coon?" Obviously it's in reference to our last name and I think people would get that but I don't want to offend anyone as we are white and that term has been used as a racial slur to people of color.
I might be way over thinking it but at the same time I feel like if I have to ask then I probably have the answer.

I've had the line since probably week 12 (I for sure remember seeing it at the 2nd tri mark). Mine curves at the belly button as well. That whole belly button area is just ugly for me. I still have a dark mark from taking out my belly ring, and then my belly button is darker than the rest of my stomach now. Mine is not a bump anyone will see naked except DH.
@krashke I asked DH his opinion (he’s half black), and he said, “I mean I definitely wouldn’t put that onesie on a black baby, and I probably wouldn’t on a white baby either...” but he also giggled a little? So... I don’t know, personally I feel like it’s a little different since your last name makes sense with it, but I do think it’s weird the Etsy store made/sells it lol since presumably not everyone buying it has your last name...
@krashke It is really cute when you pair it with your circumstances and for coming home pictures - since it's likely for family/friends and social media to see - I think most people would obviously get it since it would be people you know. But on the other hand if I saw it for my own baby or on a stranger's baby out in public, I'd probably wonder about its appropriateness. Even though it's just an adorable outfit on an innocent little baby.
@doxiemoxie212@becca_123@May14th2011 thank you for your input! I think because it's something that is questionable I will find something else. I'm sure we will get a raccoon onesie from someone that we could use. Target had a bunch of raccoon baby stuff last fall and now none of it is available anymore! I held myself back from buying all of it because I didn't want to jinx myself while we were TTC but now I wish I had.

DH said he's looking at San Antonio as our next possible station, provided they have some of the equipment he wants to learn. It won't be until early 2019, but anywhere is better than here and I LOVE San Antonio. I can't wait to only 5 minutes to the nearest real grocery store.
We finally cleared out the nursery. Next step will be to put a couple more outlets in, then paint it. If only kids understood what you go through to get ready for them...
Also, has anyone done the BRU take back program yet?
+1 for dinosaur baby... no LN for me last pregnancy, and so far none for me... However, my gall bladder surgery scar just above my belly button is stretching and has gone darker.
DD told me "I'm DONE with you" the other night... as she got out of bed AGAIN... she's 2. Clearly I need to watch what I say. Oh, and the lecture for eating the last ice cream cone, severe... her angry eyebrow game is solid.
DD as a teenager will be a challenge for sure. Although, given the size and appetite of this massive boy we are having this time around, I am not sure we will ever be able to retire!!
Family day up here guys, and due to the random massive amount of rain, combined with the frozen ground and ice blockages, they are calling for Flooding!!! Perhaps I won't make it to the office tomorrow!
