I figured I could get this added so we could get it sticky to the top. This is in no way saying anyone has given birth yet in April 2018 board but since we are getting closer I thought it would be good to get it posted. Let's hope these LO's stay cooking as long as possible.

Went in to L&D for high blood pressure and headaches at 8pm yesterday. Doctor on call decided to induce because i was already 38.4 but was definitely nervous! Found out i was already dilated to a 4 and contracting so they let me go without pitocin for a while. Dilated to 5 but wanted me to progress because of my blood pressure. I originally wanted an unmedicated birth which went out the window automatically when they put me on a 24 hour magnesium drip which made me throw up, lots haha. Doctor broke my water at 6 cm around 10am ish and everything was great for a long time. Pitocin finally kicked my butt and I opted for the epidural around 2:30 pm and she was here by 4! I initially went for a med free birth because of how on edge I am about new medicines - I'm always worried about the side effects. I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that everything went smoothly with it and I had the energy to push out my daughter in under an hour without any tears. She's adorable and sleeping wonderfully and this new mama needs to pass out! Finally off magnesium and pitocin tomorrow and can walk freely, which was the hardest part of my labor
Darcey Edith was born at 1.38am on the 3rd of April. I went from being booked in to be induced the next morning, to giving birth 1 hour and 40 minutes later. I barely made it on to the ward before I had to push! She weighs 8lb 7oz, which is exactly what her big sister weighed at birth! She's on the boobie as we speak and took to it straight away. Good luck to all the mumma's that are nearly there too.
Ruby Mae was born on 3.15.18 at 5:57 PM. She was 4 weeks, 1 day early due to spontaneous membrane rupture. 6 lbs, 7 oz and 19.5" inches long. Had to have a c-section due to her being breech. One day in the NICU due to blood sugar but we are now home and doing well. She now weighs 7.11 and is 20.5 inches long!
5 days early. My water broke at 8am but no contractions, finished working a half day, then checked in to the hospital at noon. They administered two doses of Cytotec to help induce labor. Then once baby girl decided to make her appearance it was 0-60! First contraction to birth was less than 30 mins! No time for pain medications or to even be moved to the labor and delivery quad, it was a bit of a world wind of nurses and doctors running and yelling but luckily no complications.
We are all so in love with this little sweetheart and adjusting well to a family of 4. Big sister is just smitten!
Sophie Annali born 2.05am on 8th April - 3 days overdue following induction due to raised BP
Weighing in at 7lbs5oz absolutely smitten with beautiful healthy baby girl Thank God. Counting our blessings -best of luck to all those due shortly not long to go now xxx
born 3 weeks and 1 day early due to me having to be induced due to severe pre eclampsia. Baby is doing great.
Holly Rose 4/19/18. 7.9 lbs.
I am going to try to keep this as short as I can but it was a long long haul. On Monday, April 16, at 10 days late, I checked into the hospital to begin getting induced. We started with Misoprostol (cytotec) because my cervix was barely open at all and I was maybe one centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. After two rounds during the day, doctors were just about to insert a third tab, when my baby’s heart rate dropped really low and did not return for an uncomfortably long time. After oxygen and fluids, and a near brush with a quick trip to the operating room for emergency C-section, doctors decided to stop and let everybody rest for the evening, and decided we’d come up with a plan the next morning. Tuesday morning we decided to take a no-drug approach, with a cooks catheter. That worked pretty well, although the pain of insertion and inflating the balloons is quite horrible. that stayed in for 12 hours with 40 mL of fluid in each side, at which point it was night time, and doctors decided to increase each balloon by 20 mL, and just leave me alone for the night instead of pushing me with Pitocin in the middle of the night. The next morning (Weds) the cooks catheter came out, and lucky for me, I had dilated to 3 cm and effaced to 70%, and doctors felt comfortable with my baby’s heart rate the whole previous day, so we started Pitocin slowly. Over several hours I stayed at 3 cm but had effaced to around 80 or 90%. At that point doctors decided I wasn’t uncomfortable enough which indicates we weren’t making much progress, and we had to have a baby either way, so next logical step would be to break my waters, and hope that my cervix would cooperate and labor would continue to move along. Just minutes after breaking my water, my contractions became so painful I thought I might die or pass out or kill someone. I went to a place that was so dark and horrible, sobbing and unable to bear the pain of each contraction. I was hardly able to breathe and was begging God for mercy, and the nurses for an epidural. I only had to deal with this for about 45 minutes. Every minute was excruciating. Thank God for epidurals because when it finally kicked in every sliver of pain was completely gone, and my body was lifeless from the belly down. It was glorious. All we could hope for at that point was that I would continue to dilate with contractions, and if not it was just going to become a C-section situation. I’m so grateful for my doctors because they really believed and encouraged me to try to have a vaginal birth, and to stick it out over several days. I pretty much slept or napped as much as I could, out of exhaustion through the rest of my labor. We also figured out that my baby’s heart rate was highly responsive to the position in which I was sitting at any given time. So there was a lot of wake up and turn over, throughout the night. Eventually they checked me at 2:45 AM (now Thursday) and I had made it to 7 cm, so they decided they would check again at 6 AM and we might be close to pushing at that point. Well, about 4:45 AM I definitely felt my baby moving downwards, and I asked them to check me. Turns out head was right there and I was complete, and ready to push. I pushed for maybe 35 or 40 minutes, and out came my baby. It really didn’t feel anything like I had imagined I would, and I really didn’t feel any pain delivering her. Maybe some pressure and exhaustion from pushing, but thank God for epidurals. My baby is so cute and very healthy and we could not be more proud or in love!
