@Mudge85 Those are great weights for twins! So beautiful!
edited-- oh shoot, realized I wasn't supposed to comment here, and I don't see how to delete. My apologies! I'm scheduled for c-section or induction on 12/11, so I'll come back and edit this post with my details, okay?
edited with my birth announcement, and while I'm overjoyed to say I have two healthy girls, TRIGGER WARNING about my traumatic experience... . .TW .TW .TW . So on Monday, 12/11, I went in for induction. We tried various things, had plenty of contractions, but could not get my cervix to ripen.
On Wednesday 12/13, we agreed to C-section. That itself was a challenge, since I could feel everything after the initial cut. It was very painful. But then I heard the babies cry, and I stuck it out.
In recovery, I was cuddling one of my babies, and starting to nurse. Then I was bleeding. And I kept bleeding. Someone took my baby from me, and different people took turns pushing hard on my belly and distended uterus, pushing blood out of me. At a couple points, my doctor reached her arm up into my uterus to pull out chunks of clots and placenta.
The decision was was made for an emergency hysterectomy. I was taken back to an OR, knocked out (after the incision was reopened, losing consciousness as they were splashing me with antiseptic).
So I woke up with no uterus, no cervix, no tubes, and only one ovary. I learned that I lost 2500 ml of blood (about 40% of total volume), and over the course of days, received 5 units of blood.
I'm still incredibly sore and weak, and I may not be able to breastfeed (shock may have disrupted my pituitary gland). After fighting for fertility for the last three years, I now have no uterus.
But I have two perfect, beautiful little girls. Judith Ann, 6 lb 13 oz, and Mavis Marie, 6 lb, 3 oz.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science
7 IUIs, 7 BFNs. 2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs. Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire. Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus! fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP! Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
Patrick Clyde born 11/22 at 9:19 weighing 4.8 lbs and 18” long Maverick Clarence Born in 11/22, weighing 3.14 and16.5” long born at 9:24 pm .
My water broke at 1:30 , they tried to stop them from coming but these boys had different plans ! They were born at 32 weeks and 3 days and are in the nicu to grow and learn how to eat
Almost a year ago we learned that we were expecting our first child. Unfortunately at our 10 week ultrasound, we heard the words that no parent wants to hear “ there is no longer a heartbeat.” We were completely devastated and I had to have a d&c. We were told to wait two cycles to try again and we did. In may, we learned that we were expecting our rainbow baby in January 2018. I have been a nervous wreck the entire pregnancy because i thought that we would lose another baby. Last Wednesday we had a growth scan, baby was perfect but my blood pressure was high. I was monitored and sent home. Thursday I returned to the hospital for high blood pressure and had to have a 24 hour urine collection. Saturday morning I was sent home and I slept all day. I wasn’t feeling well Sunday and early Monday morning, I woke up in pain and returned to labor and delivery at 4am. I could not stop vomiting and was in agony. It was severe preeclampsia. By 9 am I was in the operation room for an emergency c-section. I delivered our rainbow baby boy Landon Nicholas on December 4th at 33 weeks and 4 days. He weighed 4 lbs 7 ounces and 18 inches long! He is doing amazing! He is no longer on a breathing tube or cpap. We are so blessed! Never give up because after every storm, there is a rainbow.
Brennan was born on Friday, 12/8/17, 7 lbs 6 oz, 19 in. Last Wednesday I went in for my non-stress test after work and they said I was having contractions every five minutes so I should get checked out by l&d who then told me I was dilated to a 5 and had to be admitted. Contractions increased until midnight then became very mild. We were monitored Thurs with no changes. We were set to be released Friday morning & then they checked me again, I was dilated to an 8. They broke my water bag and within an hour baby boy was born. He was 36w4d and considered late preterm so he was high risk for jaundice. It's been a week since he's been home and he's eating well and his jaundice levels are lowering. So we're happy and very tired.
This is our sweet baby Kamila Grace! Born December 14th at 35 weeks. 6 pounds 19 inches long. I was on bedrest with her starting at 30’weeks when she tried to come early. My water broke on Wednesday morning at 3:30 am and she was born by 8:43 that morning. I guess she wanted to be here in time for Christmas! She is our gift from God! We thank Jesus for this healthy little one!
Late here, the app hates me, but... For those who aren't on Facebook: Rhys Oliver born 4 lbs 1 oz on 11/24 at 2:19 am by emergency C-section. I had preeclampsia and early signs of kidney failure, so they delivered him at 31+4. The picture is him at 1 day old, his lowest weight, 3 lb 10 oz.
The picture below is him yesterday at 5 lbs 13 oz, 34+1 gestational age. He's doing well, but still having a lot of apnea issues and he went back on oxygen today. He can't come home until he has gone 7 days without apnea.
Welcome Iris Katherine born yesterday at 6:10pm. 4lbs 15 ounces at 37 +3 weeks. She was a scheduled induction due to IUGR. Labored for about 24 hours, pushed through 3 contractions, and she,was here! She's doing great! Passed every test and scheduled to come home with us tomorrow.
Theodore James decided to surprise us by coming on Christmas Eve. I woke up kind of uncomfortable, and had regular contractions by 10am. About noon I started trying to pack a hospital bag but got approximately nowhere. DH got DS1 down for a nap, called my mom to come watch him, then called our neighbor to come wait for my mom. Drove like a crazy man and got us to the hospital about 1pm. My water broke almost immediately after I got into the L&D triage (??) area and I was apparently completely dialated, so they moved me to a delivery room. Started pushing pretty much right away and baby boy was born at 1:54pm. 8lbs 2oz, 21.5” long, gestational age 37+1, unmedicated (there was no time!) VBAC.
Saturday 12/23 I was walking in the kitchen and tripped over DHs foot. I didn't fall to the ground but i did stumble and had immediate shooting pains. I told DH he "broke my vagina". About 40 minutes later I started contracting regularly. After 3 hours of contractions 5-7 minutes apart We headed to triage after MIL arrived for DDs care. While being monitored in triage I started contracting more frequently and LO started having some heart decelerations. The FMS on staff decided it would be best to deliver me. It was a grueling 16 hour induction. I even throw up all over the place. But after only 3 hard pushes Isabella entered the world on Christmas eve at 4:33 pm.
My water broke a few minutes after midnight, and contractions were stop and go all morning. I was able to rest for the early morning hours, and let my other children sleep. Once the kids were up, fed, dressed, we shipped them off to my brother's house to attend church with their cousins. At that time (around 9am) I called my midwife again and asked if I could start using a breast pump to get contractions going again, since they had completely stopped. She gave me pumping instructions, and said to plan on meeting at the birth center at noon regardless. My first attempt with the pump did get contractions going, but they came to a crashing halt less than an hour later. My second attempt was at 11am. 10 mins in contractions were 2 minutes apart, and growing with intensity. We left a little early, and called my midwife on the way. We got there just before noon, and I was at 7cm, zero station, thin and soft. I had a water birth, with only 9 minutes of pushing. Active labor was just less than 2 hours. Abigail was born at 12:39pm on Christmas Eve, 8 lbs 2 oz, 20.5 inches (38 weeks +4 days).
Joey 06.05.2010, MC Jan 2014-EDD 09.11.2014, Aurelia 08.24.2015 (lost twin ~12 weeks), Ectopic Loss Feb 2016, EDD 01.03.2018
Ellis Rex born on 12/26 in the afternoon at 38 weeks & 6 days. Lost my plug a few days before Xmas. M I was miserable all Christmas with back pain and tightening but nothing timeable. Walked 8 miles total on Xmas. Woke up at 4 am the 26th livid to find I felt fine. Cleaned like a mad woman, then went on a 3.2 mile walk with my mom and dog... came home, showered, was about to leave to take DD to lunch and felt a gush... and another. Doctor told me to come to the office. Contractions started three minutes apart and after doctor/drive/getting an IV I was 4 cm. Contractions were one minute apart and “not fun” (lol) for an hour before I got my AMAZING epidural (zero pain tolerance) went from 4-9 cm in less than an hour. Baby was sunny side up. Nurse moved me around for an hour or so to move him but finally doctor did with her hand (!)... ended up pushing four times he had some decelerations so doctor quickly used forceps andcwith ten more minutes of pushingbhevwaa here! Second degree tear... half of what I had with DD. Love!
Miss Liza Carlysle made her arrival yesterday at 39 + 2. She is 7lb. 14oz. and 20.5in. long! I had an appointment Wednesday and was scheduled for an elective induction because I was completely thinned and my doctor said she was comfortable with it if I was. Went home that afternoon and lost my plug that night. Went into the hospital the next morning at 5:30 for my induction. As soon as they hooked the pitocin up around 6, my water broke on its own. I started off at 1cm when I got to the hospital and quickly dilated about 2cm per hour and was ready to start pushing about 11:30. I got my epidural around 4cm because I couldn’t take it anymore. Literally have no idea how you mommas do it without one. They turned mine off at one point so I could push better and I felt like I was gonna die. Haha anyways, Her head was turned so they called another doctor in to reach in and try to turn her (holy crap!!). Pushed on and off for about 2.5 hours. Doctor finally offered to use the vacuum because her head was just kinda sideways in the birth canal. At that point I was so exhausted, I was just like “yes whatever you have to do!” So the doctor and what seemed like a swat team prepped and after 4 pushes, our sweet girl was here! Her glucose levels were low so she had to stay in the nursery last night. She’s currently on an IV for 24-48 hours. Hoping she will get to come to my room tonight.
Parker Louise decided to come early at 36w6d. I had my 37w appt on Wednesday 12/27, with the opposite doctor than I normally have appointments with. (My OB office has 2 doctors, one who wears a Medium glove while the other wheres XL gloves...) So sadly, my appt was with the XL glove doctor and I won't lie I was nervous. I was already dilated to a 3 and was 80% thinned out. Needless to say, he said he wouldn't be surprised if I went early because of how everything was going down there. I thankfully, went and got the last of my hospital bag supplies and some odds and ends because at 2am on 12/28 my water broke! Woke up husband up, loaded the car, and got my toddler to my mom's house and made the way to the hospital. My labor was so much easier than with my son, contractions were steady but spaced out to allow me to breathe in between each one and didn't get wore out too early. Even though, I got the epidural, I could feel all the pressure of her coming down the canal, and was breathing and moaning with every contraction. So when it came time to push, I knew it was time and was ready. Four pushes and this beautiful girl was born! 12/28/17 6lbs 15oz and 18.5inches long.
We had a bit of a sugar scare with her because she was technically "premature" by one day, they had to check her sugars after her first breast milk feed. And she tested 33 when it needed to be 40. So they forced me to give her formula to ensure her sugar levels would go up or she would be taken from me to the nursery (Nothing against any formula mamas, we personally do not eat any animals products, so this was completely against everything we are for) They checked her levels again, and they jumped up to the 90s and she was finally allowed to get a bath and stay in our room for good.
I pushed for us to go home at 24 hours so we could be in the comfort of our home, bed and with our son. I'm glad I pushed for it! Do it momma's, if it something you are wanting!! As a STM, I felt totally comfort going home and being able to do that on my own even with a toddler.
Even though, I truly wish things went smoother, not everything can go perfect. We're all home and comfy now!
My little Thomas came on New Years Eve at 10:02 in the morning. He was born at 36weeks 2days. I was scheduled to have a csection the 19th of January but I woke up around midnight to my water breaking. I called the on call doctor and he told me to go to the ER. I arrived around 1:30 AM and was checked by the doctor but was told they were going to wait until a doctor from my practice got there later in the morning. So I laid through some very painful contractions for quite a few hours before they were ready to do my csection. The surgery went well but I was basically told that I would not be able to have any more children due to the scarring on my bladder (they had to put some type of material in there to help support it) they also found some endometriosis. Our plan was to stop after this child anyways but that sealed the deal for good. When Thomas arrived he was evaluated by a doctor who said he needed to go to the level 2 nursery immediately because he was having a hard time breathing on his own. They brought him over so I could give him a kiss and that was the last time I would see him for about 24 hours. He is gradually making progress but could still be in the nursery for quite a bit more time. He has breathing tubes, a sugar water food IV, and can't wear clothes because he is under a heat lamp. He is my little trooper!
Well ladiesi almost made it to January. Went in for a weekly check up and had high blood pressure so they induced. It took almost 24 hours just to get me to dialated. But here he is 6 lbs 6 ozs 19.23 in born on December 30 at 6:05. Maximus Rene. He looks nothing like me lol.
Piper Louise is here! Born January 3rd on her due date at 12:47 pm 8 lbs, 20.5 in I cant get over how much she looks like her big brother. She also was much bigger than expected-even bigger than DS when he was born.
Lorelei Lane burst onto the scene on December 22nd, when I was 37 weeks and 6 days. She was 6 lbs and 19.5 inches.
I had period-like cramps throughout the night but this was not out of the norm. I texted my sister to let her know that I had been cramping and she decided to come over since DH was working. She arrived after lunch and at that point (around 1:30 pm) the cramping was wrapping around my back and coming every 4-5 minutes. Still not super uncomfortable but I was wary enough to call the midwife. I waited for a call back and decided to leave for the hospital, since we had to drop DD off on the way. There was some confusion about the plans so we ended up bringing DD to the hospital to be picked up by my aunt.
When we arrived at 3:30 pm my contractions were very long and strong, but I was only 2cm dilated. The strength of the contractions was causing baby's heart rate to drop but she was able to recover. The midwife wanted to send me home but I refused. I knew this was it and it was a 45 minute trip without traffic. The midwife said I could walk around downstairs for 2 hours to see if things progressed. After 45 minutes the contractions were much stronger and I could barely walk 2 steps so we returned to triage. I was 4cm so they admitted me. This was around 6pm.
Here's when things got crazy.
DH called my doula and I was moved over to a birthing room. It was not a midwifery suite with a tub, but I was told that I could be moved to a suite shortly. Contractions were ramping up and I started to feel very overwhelmed and out of control. I told my doula that I either needed to get in a tub or they would have to drug me - it was that strong and intense. Little did I know, but I was clearly in transition at that point. My doula suggested getting into the shower, where she sprayed my belly with water. I was almost crying because I was in so much discomfort and feeling scared and frustrated.
Suddenly my body started pushing and I felt baby descend into the birth canal. The power of my body pushing threw me to the ground, onto hands and knees. I was making primal noises and I told my doula that baby was coming. She calmly asked DH to peek into the hall to signal the midwife or a nurse. Two pushes later and Lorelei was born, on the bathroom floor. The midwife ran into the room just in time to catch her at 7:01pm, an hour after being admitted.
Baby Caleb arrived at 4:30am on 1/9 at 38 weeks 4 days. Little dude at only 5 lbs 14 oz, and 17 inches.
I lost my mucus plug around 6:30 the previous night, followed by some light cramping. Thought it was just BH or false labor, but then about midnight, contractions got real. Got to the hospital around 2:30 and by time I got out of triage, was at 7cm. While small, baby was Sunnyside up, so it took a few pushes, before he rocketed out in the last one, to be caught by a nurse.

Baby Stephen arrived on 1/10/18 at 5:48 pm. He weighed 9 lbs and was 21 in long. I was induced at 40+2 and once pitocin was started I was in labor for a little over 6 hours and pushed for 10 minutes. He is the sweetest little boy and I can’t wait until his big sisters meet him today! Sorry if the pic is huge!
DD1: 2/28/12 DD2: 9/12/13 Baby #3: Due January 2018
Royce Calvin was born on his due date, 1/10/18 at 5:15am. 7lbs 11oz 21in. Labor was fast and intense! By the time I got an epidural I was 9.5 cm (!!!) hats off to anyone who goes all natural, I was pretty sure I was dying. And no tearing this time so recovery has been so easy. Baby is healthy and we’re all doing well. I have to stay an extra night due to being group B positive but eager to go home tomorrow. Looking forward to adjusting to life with an almost 19 month and newborn!
Quinn Isabel was born on 1/2/18 at 36w 3d weighing 6lb 8oz. I had not a single labor signal during the pregnancy before my water broke at 2am. We were unpacked and honestly not at all prepared as first timers, assuming we had at least until the due date.
We made it to the hospital by 5, at which point I still hadn’t started contracting at all. By 7:30 they’d put me on petocin and within an hour I was contracting intensely every 2 minutes. By 11, I asked for the epidural and they did my first exam only to find I was 8cm. I was able to rest for an hour and after 5 pushes Quinn was here!
On day 3 we had to be readmitted to the NICU for jaundice but she responded well to phototherapy and is now back home. She’s getting a lot better at eating and we are so happy to be a family of 3!
Odin James Ho made his appearance on 1/11/18. He shares a birthday with one of his older cousins, making it an extra special day.

We checked in for our induction just after 7am and we were officially started by 8am. I started off at 4cm 70% and progressed easily to 5cm 95% over the next 3 hours. I made the decision to get my epidural prior to having my water broke on the off chance things progressed rapidly after. The next couple hours seemed kind of slow as I felt increasing contractions, but little progression. However they flipped me to my other side and after a half hour I had progressed to 9cm 95% and -2. I was starting to get increasingly uncomfortable and was shaking from hormone release, so my nurse upped my epidural. It made it kind of interesting...I could still feel the contractions, mostly through my abdomen. At 9.5cm they let me try to push a little which was very effective. We started full on pushing right around 4:30pm. I couldn't tell that I was pushing appropriately, but my doctor was there to assure me I was. This was a super weird feeling and one that I didn't have with DS. I felt a lot more while pushing with him. He is officially the hungriest baby, but has taken to breastfeeding like a champ. My colostrum has come in really well too, so he is definitely keeping himself full. I am expecting my full milk to come in closer to Saturday, fingers crossed.
He looks a lot like his older brother and definitely has my chin!
On 12/28 We were about to go into a movie when I saw I missed a call from my midwife a few hours before, she left a message saying that if we wanted to check in that night for the induction we could. So I called and they said to be there at 9pm. It gave us just enough time to leave the theatre (decided not to see the movie lol), grab dinner, swing by the house to grab our bags and head in. We checked in and they started the first dose of cytotec by 11pm. We discovered my veins have a lot of valves which made placing the IV difficult, it took 6 tries from 3 different nurses and finally they had someone from anesthesia come up to place it. I stayed up till 1am so I could eat something solid and then we slept. We did 3 doses of cytotec 4 hours apart which took us into the 29th. The cytotec did its job on my cervix and we started pitocin at 1pm, at first I was fine, up and bouncing on the exercise ball etc. when we got towards the end of 6 units of pitocin I got uncomfortable and by 8 I was really feeling the contractions. My mom got there around 430, I don’t really remember this bc I was in the middle of the contractions. We got up to 12 units of pitocin per hour before they checked me and I was dilated to 5 and 90% effaced. That took about 6.5 or 7 hours. By the time we got there the only things I clearly remember is telling Spence I needed more counter pressure and being very annoyed if he wasn’t immediately right there and having my face buried in pillows groaning. I remember trying to just let the contractions wash over me and not fighting them....but I don’t think it worked. Once we knew I was in active labor I got the epidural, which took 3 tries in the middle of the pitocin contractions, the part I remember about that is laying on my nurses shoulder trying to hunch my back enough to get the epi in. It took about 3 minutes for the epi to take effect and I was a new person. My mom and DH were amazed at how quickly I started joking and talking to people again. Even with the epi I still had a tiny bit of control over my legs and was able to help position myself on the peanut ball and roll over etc. Once the epi was in I went from 5 to 9 pretty quickly, by 10:45pm everyone came in and got the baby stuff set up bc it looked like he would be here any moment. My in laws got up to the hospital a few hours before and it was a pretty relaxing several hours while we all sat around and chatted. And chatted. And chatted. I stalled out at 9 cm dilated and 90% effaced.
The terrorist had his head slightly cockeyed, his body was face down but he was essentially looking over his shoulder, the position wasn’t allowing him to descend any further. My midwife broke my water trying to help him turn is head and they finally placed an internal monitor to see how strong my contractions were. The answer was not very strong. Since my uterus had basically been working hard for over a day it was just too tired to be effective. At 3am on 12/30 we decided to turn off the pitocin for a few hours, put me on oxygen so the terrorist got lots of it too and let my body rest for a few hours. We’d start the pitocin back at 2 units and move back up to try and get strong enough contractions to help him turn his head and finish descending so I could push.
I developed a slight fever overnight and for a minute I was worried that even with all this I was still going to end up with a csection. Luckily the fever came down and stayed away (my nurse kept doing cold wash cloths under the arm pits and head along w extra strength Tylenol) and when they checked me that afternoon he had turned and was descending. This was when my midwife informed me that his head was very large. We hadn’t done any growth ultrasounds or measurements after our 20 week u/s. My stomach wasn’t huge and I didn’t gain a bunch of weight so I didn’t think he’d be a huge baby. Around 145/2pm we start pushing, even with the pitocin my contractions were spaced pretty far apart, so I pushed for just under an hour but with some pretty big gaps between, up to 5 minutes in most cases. He was born with a 14” head (what?!? I think it was bc it was very cone shaped after the long delivery) at 8lbs 15oz and 20” long at 245pm on 12/30.
Daphne made her grand entrance into the world January 16 at 4:53am weighing in at 8lbs 2 oz and 20 1/4 inches long.
We we went in Monday night to be induced for high blood pressure (for the second time). After getting all the paperwork done and all checked in they checked my cervix and I was already at 3 cm and had been in early labor for several days without knowing it. Had a Foley bulb placed at 8:30pm, it fell out at 11. They started Pitocin at 1 after I took a quick nap. I was feeling some pretty strong contractions between 3 and 4 so I asked to be checked around 4:15. I was shocked to be at a 9 and able to just breathe through contractions. I was going to ask for some IV meds to take the edge off when I started transition, but I was too late again. They set up, broke my water, and it was go time. I pushed for 8 minutes and there she was! We are so thrilled!
I don’t know what happen lol! The pics in the above post are of Isla Josephine! Born 1/7, weighing 7lbs 5 oz at 19 1/2in. Pretty unevenful induction. I was group B positive but was never told. They had to run two courses of antibiotic before they could really get things started. Once they broke my water, things moved FAST! I got an epidural that worked a little to well. They told me once I had constant pressure to let them know. Well it was pretty constant but would let up for a minute or so at a time. DH went to get coffee and I told him when he got back that we should call the nurse. Well Isla had another plan! Just as DH returned, the dr came in at the same time, Isla was half way out on her own! DH had to assist before the nurses rushed in. One slight push and she was in my arms ♥️ She is such a sweet baby, always happy, really doesn’t even cry but fusses if she needs something and is already sleeping four hour stretches at night. We are absolutely in love!
Maevy Jean was born 1/17 at 1016 AM weighing 6lbs 15oz. I was a week late so at 40 and 6 days they had us come in at night for low dose pitocin (cervix was already ripe and dilated to 2.5-3 which was a surprise and good!). I didn’t feel anything until they started ramping up the pit in the morning/broke my water around 6am. Within an hour of that I was dying and requested an epidural which I got and worked a little bit but was incomplete. Thankfully it didn’t really matter because about 15 minutes after the epidural I was fully dilated/effaced. Pushed for an hour and she was out! We adore her! I’m a first time mom and the love I feel for this little human is outrageous and indescribable. I haven’t slept in days, but she’s totes worth it.
On her 1 month birthday, here is Rosalyn Joy's Story: At 25 weeks, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia. We got steroid shots to help her lungs develop faster and the hospital doc said we would give birth within days or weeks. My OB and midwife had faith in us so we were sent home. With strict bed rest (only allowed to get up for bathroom), we were able to make it til 31 weeks before another hospital stay and started blood pressure meds. At 32 w 6 d, at our normal bi-weekly OB appt, her amniotic fluid was quite low (5.1). We were sent home with ways to increase it. 2 days later it was even lower (3.2) so we went to the Maternal Fetal Specialist to see if there were any options besides induction. In the few hours between appts, the fluid improved but was still low (5.3). She sent us home to pack a hospital bag and were admitted.
At the hospital, IV fluids kept her fluid in the 5s (which at the hospital they were ok with since she & I were monitored so closely and she was doing great for all other BPP tests). My blood pressure kept creeping up and would not go down even with IV and oral meds. At 34 w 1 d, my OB decided we would induce the next afternoon. The next morning (34 w 2 d, 12/21), my blood pressure spiked to 205/108 so I was taken in for an emergency c-section right then. 9 weeks after a preeclampsia diagnosis my body just could not hold out any longer and they were afraid I would seize or stroke.
Rosalyn Joy was born at 11:41am on 12/21/17 weighing 5 lb 10 oz, 18.5" long. She had several good cries, but then needed to get on the cpap to help her breathe. That evening she had to get surfactant to help her lungs expand. She had to be fed by feeding tube but only 1 bad blood sugar reading. Thankfully our area has a breast milk bank so she was able to receive breast milk in the NICU. She got off the cpap in just 1 day but her suck/swallow/breathe reflex was not doing well. Her pulse ox was hesitant to stay up so they kept the cannula under her nose most of her stay. On New Year's Eve she made it 1 whole day without needing to be fed thru the tube so we spent NYE rooming in at the hospital with her and she came home on New Year's Day.
My recovery has been quite tough. I had to get IV magnesium after surgery to reduce stroke/seizure risk so I didn't see her for over 27 hrs after birth. They wouldn't let me go see her unless my blood pressure was below 160/110 so I only saw her a couple times a day. My blood pressure still has not returned to normal but it finally got out of the dangerous/stroke risk range last week. The docs think that since I was preeclamptic so long (9 weeks), it is just being stubborn. I had to return to the hospital 9 days after delivery due to a bad hematoma but my incision is now almost healed again. Hopefully my blood pressure will start to return to normal soon or I can at least cut down on meds.
Most importantly, our sweet girl is home with us. She had the most amazing staff in the NICU and is doing good so far. At the 4 week check up, she had grown 1.5" and almost 1 lb (to 20", 6 lb 7 oz)! She is still calm and sweet and squeaks when she's happy. We are so in love...
Riley Joan was born January 26, at 5:37 weighing 7 lbs 6 oz and 19.5 inches long. My due date was January 31st but we got induced because I had hypertension plus we thought she was going to be much bigger than she was! We were admitted Thursday night and did cervidil overnight which did nothing for me... started Pitocin about 8am and got my epidural early because doc wanted to try a cervical balloon. Well, I literally never dialated so we couldn't so it! 8 hours of Pitocin and I was still at 50% effaced and 0 dilation. We also thought she was much bigger (over 8lbs) and wouldn't drop because my pelvis was small... so we did a c section and our little nugget baby was just floating way up high in my uterus! But i have zero regrets about being induced and having a C section. Because she is here and we are so in love!!
Sorry to have been MIA for a few days! Skylar Lee arrived Thursday January 25 at 3:06 am weighing 7 lbs 14 oz and 19.5 inches long. My water broke at 2 pm on Wednesday at work. We got to the hospital around 4 pm with very little dilation and they wanted to start pitocin. Knowing my contractions hd barely just began I declined and began walking around. An hour later we were already to a 3. Since the epidural would take awhile to order I went ahead and got it ready,. By the time it was in contractions were getting really intense and my blood pressure was getting extremely high. Luckily, it took care of everything and we had hit a 5! Labor progressed extremely fast to were I was at an 9 around 10 pm and we thought were were going to have a baby before midnight...then everything stalled. Once I finally hit a 10 around 12:30 we started pushing...and pushing...and pushing. The nurses kept saying we were close but her head was in a weird position so it was making it hard to pass, but they couldn't seem to get her to turn the right way. . 2.5 hrs later she finally arrived and we realized it was so hard because she had turned her head sideways! Only bad thing is they turned my epidural off in the middle of pushing to make it easier for me...but it had worn off completely by the end and i was feeling everything.... Skylar is perfect though and passed all her tests with flying colors! I'd upload a pic but mobile bump hates me and I don't have an on my computer yet...
Kylora Irène was born on January 25th at 5:06 am after 50 hours of labor. 3 hours of it were spent pushing, but had to get a C-section because of my prominent pelvis. She was 19 inches and 6 lbs, 7.5 oz. She's just perfect!

My water broke at 1:30 , they tried to stop them from coming but these boys had different plans ! They were born at 32 weeks and 3 days and are in the nicu to grow and learn how to eat
Here is a side by side of my identicals
The picture below is him yesterday at 5 lbs 13 oz, 34+1 gestational age. He's doing well, but still having a lot of apnea issues and he went back on oxygen today. He can't come home until he has gone 7 days without apnea.

Born January 3rd on her due date at 12:47 pm
8 lbs, 20.5 in
I cant get over how much she looks like her big brother. She also was much bigger than expected-even bigger than DS when he was born.

He is the sweetest little boy and I can’t wait until his big sisters meet him today! Sorry if the pic is huge!

Baby #3: Due January 2018
We made it to the hospital by 5, at which point I still hadn’t started contracting at all. By 7:30 they’d put me on petocin and within an hour I was contracting intensely every 2 minutes. By 11, I asked for the epidural and they did my first exam only to find I was 8cm. I was able to rest for an hour and after 5 pushes Quinn was here!
On day 3 we had to be readmitted to the NICU for jaundice but she responded well to phototherapy and is now back home. She’s getting a lot better at eating and we are so happy to be a family of 3!
He is officially the hungriest baby, but has taken to breastfeeding like a champ. My colostrum has come in really well too, so he is definitely keeping himself full. I am expecting my full milk to come in closer to Saturday, fingers crossed.
Together Let Us Seek the Heights
One slight push and she was in my arms ♥️
She is such a sweet baby, always happy, really doesn’t even cry but fusses if she needs something and is already sleeping four hour stretches at night. We are absolutely in love!
At 25 weeks, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia.
