This is because women usually gain the the largest amount of weight in their second trimester. And this in turn is because…
3. Most of the weight gained in the second trimester is water. Compared to fat, water weight can come on very fast. In the second trimester, blood volume increases by almost 50%. This is why many women experience extreme thirst in their second trimesters.
@amys614 See if you can find a physical therapist in your area who specializes in women’s health/maternity/post partum! They deal with a handful of pelvic issues and may be able to find some ways to help you out.
@May14th2011 If resting and Tylenol aren’t improving things, I’d probably call. The most likely scenario is that it’s nothing, but I’m generally in the camp of “if I’m honestly concerned, I’m calling just to be safe.”

@May14th2011 I had a lot of cramping around 19 weeks with my son. At the anatomy scan he was in the 91st percentile but he was only 7lb14oz and 19 inches at birth so I think he hit a big growth spurt around 19 weeks. My OB said it's normal for babies to have a big growth spurt around 19-22 weeks or so. I'm pretty sure that's why I was so crampy. It seemed like every time I had bad cramps for a day or two my bump would suddenly get bigger like baby had grown faster than normal. Maybe baby is just having a growth spurt and that's why you're feeling crampy? Definitely call if you're worried though!

@May14th2011 I had this from 15 weeks to about 17 weeks. I would take tylenol, chug a bunch of water, and lay down with a heating pad on my back (it was lower back pain for me too). I brought it up with my doc, and he said it just had to do with being a STM+. I say call if you are concerned! It never hurts. I was also drinking cranberry juice too, because last time i had a UTI that was causing the cramps. I get them a lot when i'm pregnant.

@May14th2011 did you try chugging water and putting your feet up? I think that's the general "see if this works first" reco before panicking. Sort of like "did you try restarting your computer" lol. I hope all is fine!
I've been drinking water and resting as much as I can with two kids. Called the nurse today and she gave me the standard "drink water and take Tylenol" answer. I'm rolling my eyes, but doing it anyway. If it doesn't go away I'll call back and try to get seen. I'm two weeks away from being able to go into Labor and Delviery unit vs the ER. Can't wait to hit that milestone
Update- my cervix is much shorter than they want to see. They're starting me on progesterone suppositories, but are not extremely concerned. At least I don't feel dumb for going in, lol
@May14th2011 Don't even think for a minute that anything was dumb about going to see your doctor! I'm glad you got an answer and that it doesn't seem to be too much of a concern.
@sunshineandwhiskey hope you can get some rest and feel better soon! Did they give you tamiflu? Just curious because in my area they haven’t been giving it to those who were vaccinated but caught a different strain.
@lisa2589 they did. And it was big debate because it’s caregory C for pregnancy (according to the tech). They definitely wanted to prescribe it, just didn’t know how I would feel about it.

@sunshineandwhiskey hope it helps! When I was pregnant with DD, my OB told me he’d prescribe it for me if I started to have symptoms after exposure to patients who were positive (I work in a med/surg/observation area). I was lucky that year and have been so far this year. The moral of the story though was that he’d rather see his patients take the category C drug than take a chance on the fever and other symptoms harming the fetus during pregnancy.

I am feeling like 1st tri level exhaustion again. I’m sleeping alright, I do wake up 2-3 times to reposition and pee but have been able to go back to sleep right away... I don’t remember feeling this exhausted again until 3rd tri, but it has hit me hard this week.
@lisa2589@dinodna3 count me in too. I'm going in for iron studies today as its suspected I'm anemic. It may be worth asking your docs if that could be happening with you two?
