My random is I had to get another girl to cover for me today because I drive 40 minutes to work and we are on a level 2 anticipating a level 3 snow emergency soon.... I'm not exactly upset about it lol
I took DS to the dentist this morning and was dreading it. He did so good and I am so proud of him! He cried a little, but way better than the first time I took him where he cried the ENTIRE time. But then he didn't want to go to school after and wanted to come to work with me, so that broke my heart.
Noooooooo!!! Justin Timberlake announced tour dates today (I don’t care what you all think, he will be my first true love foreverrrrr) and he’s coming to Boston on...wait for it...April 4th. I’ll find out for sure later today, but my likely c-section date is March 26th. Womp womp. I feel like there’s no way I’ll be in any shape to go to a concert a week later. Damnit!
I am so cranky this week I'm driving myself insane. I wanted to throttle DH all weekend and later realized it was completely unfounded. Now my MIL is in my crosshairs because of some baby shower drama, but really I think I'm just on a hormone rage.
My mom came yesterday to help DH paint the nursery! I am so excited it’s done, save for a few touch-ups to finish tonight. I should have taken a pic - I will tomorrow morning in the daylight. Thankful for some relatively mild weather coming this week (aka above freezing, lol) so we can hopefully crack the windows to get it completely aired out.
I have been suffering from a terrible headache for the last two days. And of course all I want to do is eat like crap, but I have my GD test tomorrow. Pity party for one!
I finalized my plans for maternity leave today and now that's over with, I feel like I've already mentally checked out of work. My final day of work will be 3/30 and I've already started counting down the days!
Today is my first day back after the holiday break. I am so glad I chose an easy way out and had my students on the computers today because I cannot talk in complete sentences. I am blaming pregnancy brain.
@klburke88 that is awesome - it’s slow at work today so I might just need to start planning my maternity leave! How early before your due date are you leaving? That part makes me antsy. I think my work will be accommodating with working from home the later it gets and I can’t really afford to take a bunch of time before my due date since my leave sucks, but I also would really like some downtime right before to relax and get ready. But who knows, I could go late (or early for that matter)! Ahh the lovely unknown
Is anyone else planning to work right up until the day the baby arrives? I don't plan to take any time off until the baby is actually here unless I have to. Especially considering the baby could be late! My office manager and I talked about my leave and he seemed really surprised when I said I was working until she appears. He actually thought I was kidding at first.
@JJMNO1616 I worked right up to the day before I had DS last time and I'm probably going to do it again unless the doctor tells me I can't! I remember that last week being so crappy though.
@JJMNO1616 that is my plan! I worked until I delivered last time around and it was fine. I was in the military at the time and I actually worked from home on my due date and delivered the next day, the rest of the time I was in the office. I'm hoping to work from home a couple days a week the weeks leading up to my due date but understand if i'm expected to be in office. I don't want to use any of my personal time before the baby comes so I don't have any plans to take off before!
My best friend decided work was too stressful last month and took off 2 weeks earlier than expected before she was due and her maternity leave would start. Fast forward to today and shes now sitting at 12 days past due with no baby,.....shes been without pay waiting for the baby so its definitely a gamble not knowing when they'll show up!

Exactly! I don't want to take the week prior off to find out baby doesn't show up until two weeks after the EDD. I also do nothing but sit at a desk all day so it's not going to be physically demanding for me to go in. I'm sure I will be uncomfortable either way so I might as well get paid and be uncomfortable lol
@ekendall09 the story of your friend is my fear! I’ve been considering just working until delivery and taking advantage of any work from home time they will accommodate. My boss was surprised I wasn’t planning to leave earlier and I was like... uhhhh, I can’t really afford to? He’s the CEO of the company and probably clueless as to what our maternity leave policy is so that just gives me such an eye roll.
I think if I’m beyond uncomfortable even working at home then the earliest I would start leave is my due date since I know I won’t go more than a week past that (my doc/hospital prefers not to go past 41 wks).
@JJMNO1616 that's exactly how I feel about it. I figure the more time I can save for when I'll really want to use it, the better! I too have a desk job and know I'd feel differently if I was on my feet or doing something more demanding.
@frenchiekinplusone I think working until your due date at a minimum makes sense. I definitely plan to work from home too to help bridge the discomfort if the office sitting gets rough.
Now i'm curious as to what my practices typical push for induction might be...@kmalls any insight into how long they'll let you go past EDD?
@JJMNO1616 My plan is to work up until my due date. I also have an office job so it's not too straining physically, but if I start to feel like it's too much as it gets closer I may stop working in early April.
Totally random but adorable.. I saw that our local zoo announced that a baby Tapir (my favorite zoo animal) was just born after a 400 day gestation period! I thought our pregnancy was long.. oofda! Here is a picture of a baby Tapir for your enjoyment.
@JJMNO1616 I am planning on working but I blocked my clinic for patients and will do “project/fill in work for the weeks leading up to delivery unless I get an induction date set sooner.
@JJMNO1616 I worked until my due date with my first. I worked at Yahoo with my second (who has an amazing maternity leave) I was given 4 weeks off prior to due date and then 16 weeks off post delivery. I get 12 weeks with this baby so i will be working right up to my due date. I don’t any of my time off to cut Into my time with baby.
I'm also planning to work up to my due date. Last time I took a week off beforehand, and ended up going 10 days past my due date, and I was going craaazy at home waiting for her to come. I'd rather be occupying my mind. That being said I work at a desk and can work as home whenever I need, so it's not a physical challenge.
Add me to the irritable and crankyAF club, which does not make me particularly well suited for my current occupation of wrangling miniature tyrants all day. Hoping for a better night of sleep tonight because i’m downright scary right now.

+1 for planning to work until baby arrives. There’s really no reason for me not to work as long as I’m healthy. Plus I know my kids at work are super needy, and they are not thrilled they’ll be placed with another counselor at the end of the year.
@ekendall09 they’ll let you go up to 2 weeks past your due date at our practice, though after 1 week they make you go for an NST daily. They def prefer an induction at 1 week but will allow the full 2.
I'm going to work up until delivery, I did last time. I had a schedule induction so I could have worked the day I was scheduled to go to the hospital but I decided to sleep in and have a good meal before hand.
Also to add to the Justin Timberlake thing, is it bad that im very much hoping for a NSYNC reunion to happen at the super bowl half time show because that 12 seconds at the VMAs was such a tease and I need more.
@kmalls that’s pretty similar to my last practice then. I assume some of the midwives/drs are more conservative than others. I had an NST last time one day after my due date but was already have contractions and delivered that day anyways.

I have mine tomorrow too, and I have also wanted to eat junk all day but resigned myself to effing oatmeal for lunch and limited my sweets intake one saintly mini cookie. And for the record, burning your tongue on healthy food is incredibly depressing. Cookies fresh from the oven? Worth it. Oatmeal straight from the microwave? NOT.

So - maybe this goes into questions, but I was browsing Pinterest and came across post baby waste trainers. Has anyone ever used one of those? Super curious how people feel about them.
@kmalls I looked up his tour dates earlier today too and he's coming to Ohio(although 2 hours from me) May 7th. I don't think I'll be ready by then either . I've been dying to see him again since I saw him a few years ago when he toured with Jay-Z (awesome show btw).
Eta: after looking again he IS coming here. March 31st. So that's really no better.
My random is that I’ve been in the hospital since Saturday with on and off contractions. They were able to slow them down with the terbutaline shot, so that’s good.
And my cervix is still long and closed so that’s great news.
@klburke88 So checked out as well. I'm counting down the weeks and it seems SO FAR AWAY.
I'm a teacher, so I'm working on finding a long term sub. I'm planning on working up until my due date, but I know it's going to be so hard to stay motivated when I get to the end. Fx I can push through.

@dan0081, that baby tapir is adorable!

But when they come on, they hurt like a bitch!
@luna8433 I've been having the same issue with complete sentences all weekend! Hope it doesn't last until baby comes!
@dan0081 I LOVE TAPIRS!
