Add me to the anxiety about joining the STM+ club. Last night DS woke up briefly and I suddenly felt the crushing weight of being up constantly with a newborn. It all came flooding back, including the irrational anger I’m so nervous to do this again...
Holy crap, is anyone watching Married at First Sight? It’s one of my guilty pleasures This season is filmed in Boston and tonight is the episode they get married. Their weddings all take place at the hotel we’re staying at for our babymoon at the end of the month! I feel so fancy now!
@mikkimikey Yay for good news! Glad yall are home safe and everything is ok!
@kmalls Oh gosh I love that show. That and the bachelor are my two shows I secretly watch alone and never tell anyone haha. Total guilty pleasure. Didnt know a new season was starting!
@puddlewonderful this is only baby #2 for us but I'm worried too about the sleep deprivation!
The other day DS refused to get in the car and I can't lift him as he is WELL over my 10 pound restriction, and I just thought somedays he's sooo stubborn and how will I ever handle two little stubborn boys
my anxiety about everything seems heightened right now. I'm worried about adding a new baby, my high risk status, and lately the flu. Pregnancy seems to make my anxiety worst.
@mcb2016 I am with you on the increased anxiety. SO was heading out a few hours before we were supposed to get a huge ice storm and I made him promise to be home way before anything started. I told him I will worry about you I can't help it.
add me to the freaking about having another baby soon. It makes me really nervous when DD acts out and won't listen. So it feels like it be quite an adjustment, plus I don't feel I have really done anything as far things we need for this baby, I have been slow moving on doing anything.
Yep, I'm starting to stress about how we're going to get all the things done once we have two kids in the house. Some days it really stresses me, other days I just think meh, we'll figure it out.
This is the first baby for my husband. He came into our lives when DD was 5 years old. I don't think he fully grasps what a big deal this baby is going to be, as far as the stress it will add to our lives, how our schedules will change, how EXPENSIVE everything is going to be. My biggest stressor right now is lining up daycare for when I return to work and figuring out how we are going to afford it and he just keeps telling me not to worry. Well, somebody has to worry about it!!
@Dumbgurl04 omg dd2 has been so tough lately! She has an incredibly strong personality and when she throws a fit holy hell watch out. When she feels high the whole house is in a good place but when she's not...good God look out. Shakes my confidence everytime.
@Puddlewonderful those motn wakings reminds us how valuable sleep really is. We've been fighting off colds in my house so i feel your pain!
@lindsye can you pat my head and tell me everything will be ok w 3 since you have been there? Lol!!
@kmalls the newborn stage w 2 older kids has me cringing. I was so dead on my feet when dd2 was born and that was w 1 toddler at home.
@irenejean i am the same. Yesterday was a holeeeecrap type day. Today I've promised myself to take it one day at a time.
I won't say i feel better knowing there are others out there feeling this way bc it sucks but...at least I'm not alone? Or at the very least some what normal.
I'm not feeling the anxiety over the next kid yet, which is completely out of the norm for me... I think it's because I'm hiding my head in the sand about it. DH is getting anxious though.... which is out of the norm for him lol. This may actually be why I'm not getting anxious. We tend to complement one another when it comes to anger/anxiety--If one is feeling it, the other is calm. It feels odd to be the one who's blissfully unconcerned.
I will say that one thing that significantly helps my sanity is having a cleaning lady. This may be completely random but ours just came yesterday so it's on the top of my mind. She generally comes every two weeks, but with the holidays and weather it's been three weeks since she's been to the house and my comfort/stress level at home directly correlates with the state of my house. We were lucky to find a lady through a local facebook swap shop looking for homes to clean. She's incredibly cheap (and amazing. She's been with us for four year now!!!). And having her is the #1 thing that has helped us navigate the whole two working parents, multiple kids, high anxiety couple environment we're in. She's not a 'maid,' she doesn't clean up after us. She just handles all the deep cleaning required--things like vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, etc
DS: EDD, December 19th, 2014. Born, December 19th, 2014! DD: EDD, July 18th, 2016. Born, July 19th, 2016!
@ladythrice I would agree on having a cleaning person. I had one come monthly and do the deep cleaning items, dusting etc that I'd get to but not as well as her. I don't have one anymore because SO is basically like having one but I will say I thought it was worth it!
@ladythrice i am the same way! If my house is a wreck i lose it. My mood is directly correlated to the cleanliness of my house.
I was feeling guilty (again) about hiring someone but realized last night that i clearly need help or i wouldn't be feeling so overwhelmed. I called 3 places to get estimates. I need to research some more.
@klburke88 We're in the same boat. DH keeps saying "it'll be fine" about everything and I'm like--you don't know that! I try to remind myself that I was just as blissfully ignorant with my first as he is now and it worked out alright. He drives me crazy right now, but he'll figure it out eventually.
Ugh, I can join you all on the "how the hell am I going to cope with 2?" train. I keep oscillating between guilt and panic. I also am freaking out about how much messier my house will be. With a husband with the cleanliness of an ogre and a toddler, my house already constantly depresses and angers me.
Also, I just got my first bout of BHs, and I am pouty about it. It's like my body is on some kind of clock, always starting at 27 weeks. Last pregnancy I had them cooooonstantly, and I am not excited to have them again.
I am however currently laughing at my baby being all "omg wtf is THAT?!?" whenever a contraction hits.

I went and got a pedicure yesterday with the massage chair and my baby was not impressed by the vibrations. lol
@mikkimikey glad to hear you are home and things seem stable! Did they say anything about possible triggers or are they talking pelvic rest?
@psuxray07 I feel bad too cuz I love my boy, he's the best cat in the world, but I'm just SO uncomfortable and he always wants to lay on my belly, so then baby gets mad and is kicking like crazy to get the cat off my belly so then I can't get to sleep.
During the day I let him hang with me, but I can't do it at bedtime anymore!
As of right now, I am supposed to take it easy (luckily I’d JUST had my last day at work).
And my OB wants to see me once a week for a while until she knows things have calmed down!
@mikkimikey well I definitely think it's good that they are gonna watch you closely, but also weekly appts SSUUCCKK. FX no more contractions until 40weeks!
+1 to the oh crap we are adding a human to this chaos! DD has been sick lately and it has been freaking me out. I could barely take care of her and function, she was super clingy.
@kmalls I have been wstching Married At First Sight on Hulu. I only watch the wedding, the decision, and the 6 month check up. I love it!!
UGGHH y’all toddler food refusal is one of the more frustrating parts of this parenthood thing (at least of littles). My 19 MO DS has a ridiculously short list of food he will actually eat, and none of it involves nutritious food that I prepare for our dinners. I actually just ordered a powdered vitamin that I’m going to try to mix into his water or yogurt because i’m worried he’s going to become malnourished. My 5 year old DD1 was very similar at this age and now she’s an actual giant, so I’m trying to keep perspective but agh it is so stressful. Eat, baby, eat!

@lindsye ugh it’s sooooo frustrating, I’m sorry you’re going through it. My DS will pretty much only eat pasta, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, grilled cheese and rice. I panic all the time about his nutrition (kid can sniff out a vegetable a mile away and throw it on the floor) but the pedi said he’s healthy and growing, so all I can do is keep offering better options and hope someday he’ll go for them. It’s definitely stressful, though.
@lindsye and @kmalls We are deep in the food refusal here too and it suuuucks. Every meal is a battle. It's so weird because DD would eat anything and everything healthy until about 18-20 months and I was over here all smug like, "Oh my girl is such a good, healthy eater. She likes everything." Then I get smacked in the face with the real toddler shit and now I'm putting chick-fil-a sauce on the weirdest things, in desperation, just to get her to eat some protein and looking at toddler vitamins. I'm going to keep trying with the healthy foods, but it's rough. I hope she grows out of it. Sorry y'all are going through it too!
@lindsye@kmalls@kbamomma33 I feel your pain! DS is doing the same, and I keep wondering how can this kid survive on this much pasta and practically nothing else?! Then some days he won't eat at all, and some days he won't eat at first, but he'll eat later. DS woke up this morning asking for cookies today, but we didn't give him any, so he wanted to watch TV instead of eat, then half an hour later he finally wanted cereal. Thank goodness he woke up an hour early, otherwise he would have gone to daycare without breakfast. But also, he woke up an hour early today . Man, toddlers know how to keep you on your toes.
The food refusal is the part I'm most dreading about having a toddler again. DS was awful from 18mo to about 3yo. I swear that kid survived on nothing but sunshine and apple sauce pouches.
My DS loves bar food - like, if they serve it in a bar, he’ll probably eat it. Pizza, nachos, French fries and cookies are his favorites. Thankfully he’ll usually eat yogurt, because he will not drink milk (even chocolate milk). He also likes bread, and I’m now thankful that most bread and cereal products are enriched with things like iron, because otherwise he would be completely effed.
@kmalls@kbamomma33@irenejean@kaymaroo I’m sorry you guys are also dealing with it (or have dealt with it) but it’s always nice to hear you’re not alone. I was about to lose my mind this morning!

My toddler too! He won't eat anything he uses to. Even bananas!! Yesterday he refused to eat dinner and my 12 year old gave him chocolate. Wtf. I am trying to explain to him while little ds is on his won't eat strike we can't give him sweets or junk.
We had 45 minutes to kill after I picked up DS from preschool and before we had to get DD from daycare. Usually I bring him home for lunch, but the house cleaners were there and I hate to be underfoot when they’re working. On a whim I took DS to Subway for lunch, totally anticipating him refusing, well, everything...but it was a huge victory! Here’s a pic of him eyeing his kid’s tuna sub, which he ate! Well he ate half, BUT STILL. And all his apples and I let him have a few baked chips. Giant victory for us!
I guess the answer is to take your kid out for every meal?
its like my work knows my ribs have been hurting.....a new policy was released today allowing all members of our org to work from home an additional day each week (now being 2). I could cry. Between the change in maternity leave and now this I couldn't be more thankful our company listens to our feedback and actually makes changes. (especially since I got pregnant expecting the old/original policies)
@kmalls too funny - I also picked up a sandwich and a shake for DS on a whim today because I didn’t feel like waging the lunch battle and Potbelly has a drive-thru. It was a win for us, too. (Also, I find it amusing that I see the number of calories in one of their shakes - 750! - and view the opportunity to get that many calories plus some good calcium in DS as a huge win. Basically the opposite I’d feel about drinking it myself, lol).

@ladythrice yep, the 5 year old has graduated to an audio-only monitor but our younger two definitely still need video ones (stinkers!). And as to the state of my kitchen... our housekeeper had the flu this week and was unavailable, so suffice it to say we’re going to have some catch-up to do this weekend.

Add me to the freaking toddler diet group. Sooooo frustrating. He will LOVE something one day and the next day we try to get him to eat it again and it became poison over night. He used to really be into fruit pouches but we accidentally gave him a apple cinnamon one and now he won’t touch them with a 10ft Pole. Add molars and sickness and he hasn’t eaten a real meal in over a week.
Ugh me too with the toddler eating! My kid’s new thing is not eating dinner and then asking for milk in the middle of the night. I feel bad because I know he’s probably hungry, but I firmly won’t let him have anything but water in the middle of the night. He falls asleep with the milk and the idea of him waking up 4 hours later and taking another swig of warm milk just really grosses me out!!
