@JJMNO1616 I plan on working up until delivery also. I might only have 4 weeks of time when baby is born, and the rest will have to be unpaid, so I need to save as much as possible. I don't have an office job though, it's more physically demanding as I'm an x-ray tech. I worked until the end with DS, when my water broke at 37 weeks (I was supposed to work that Saturday and got out of it, yessss, haha)!
@dan0081 awww that is so adorable! And F 400 days gestation, lol.
@angiek1 No help here, but I was wondering about those too. I didn't understand how wearing something around your belly area "helps" it to shrink back in place...
My random: I just wrote an email to the director of DS's preschool/daycare because DS (he's 4) was all down when I picked him up and he told me his teacher was mean and yelled at him today because he forgot how to write a K. And then said she said she was tired or something. He said maybe she got reindeer poop (lol we told him Santa gives coal and reindeer poop to people who aren't nice). He's been doing great at writing letters and his name, but sometimes he has brainfarts and can't figure out certain letters. But anyway, this isn't the first time he's told me she's mean and yelled at him. I brushed it off before because I kinda figured maybe he wasn't listening or something, which sometimes he doesn't, but he never does anything "bad," he's a really good kid. But this was one too many times and for not remembering how to write a K? DS has NEVER told me any of his previous teachers were mean or yelled at him, or really anyone in general. So I'm interested to see what response I get tomorrow.
I never really had contact with his teacher as she's she's never there when I drop him or or pick him up. I have seen her before and never got a good vibe just from the look on her face and secretly didn't like her, lol (judgy? oh well). I've liked all his other teachers since he was a baby there.
Add me to the list working up until the end. It’s not like I’m that productive at my desk anyways
Also, does it count as pregnancy brain when you schedule yourself a totally hellacious travel schedule your 6th month of pregnancy? This week, I’m in San Francisco for a medical conference, which is an absolute fire hazard it is so crowded. I have already been shoved twice trying to get a seat. Forget any men giving up a seat. At the end of the week, I meet my husband and we will drive up to Napa. We are considering a move to several places, and that’s one of them.
We come home Monday night and then the next morning I go to New York for another conference (why!!!!). I get back Thursday, enjoy the weekend and then the following weekend we go to Dallas (other candidate to move to). In Feb, we will visit Denver and Aspen.
What is wrong with me??? Did I just assume I would get MORE comfortable as I got more pregnant? I am my own Twatwaffle Tuesday this week and it’s so bad I just couldn’t wait.
@mikkimikey I’m sorry you are stuck in the hospital! Good thing your cervix isn’t changing! Hopefully it calms down soon.
my random: despite getting the flu shot both DS and I got the influenza. I came down with it on Friday, had a negative flu swab at my PCP and was diagnosed with bronchitis. Saturday night I couldn’t breathe and was feeling way worse so off to urgent care we went. Flu swab was positive. When we got home, the babysitter told us DS had been coughing a lot in his sleep. He woke up 1h later with a 104 fever. We have both been feeling like death since DH still managed to stay healthy so far which is a miracle
@stalkinghorse yiiiikes that’s a lot of travel! You guys are VERY ambitious to be checking out so many cities towards the end of pregnancy for a potential move. Are you guys looking to get out of Los Angelos ASAP?
@kmalls not this second this second but I think I remember thinking it would be easier to see these places before the baby came? Maybe? I don’t know why i thought it would be ok to do that AND go to two work conferences. Every so often my “the time is now” personality really bites me in the ass.
@mikkimikey sorry you’ve been in the hospital but glad they got the contractions to stop and that your cervix is long and closed!
Add me to the list of planning to work till baby comes. However, as a teacher, I’m planning to be done at spring break and not return because the day we return is the day before my due date. I won’t want to work and if I’m overdue, right?
My rando: I’ve been binge watching “The Great British Baking Show” and I love it!
@mikkimikey So sorry to hear about your hospital stay.. I'm glad they were able to slow things down! Hoping things remain calm for the rest of your pregnancy. @danjoly Ugh, I hope you and your DS feel better soon. That must be scary to have you both be so sick during this time. Hoping your DH stays well, too!
@tooraloorah We LOVE the great British baking competition! We just binged the first two seasons and can’t decide if we want to save the third for next Christmas or watch it now. Have you reached the refrigerator-gate controversy in season 1 yet?
Another random: My cats are like, all over me all the time. I mean, Puff was always a major lovebug, but he follows me a lot too, lol. It's been so much that yesterday morning, DS asked "where's Puff? Isn't he supposed to be on you?" I'm sure you can tell which is Puff and which is Roo. This Puff picture is right now.
@psuxray07 cuties!! My dog has been SO clingy lately! I’ve been wondering if he can sense something is going on. Like its ridiculous but also adorable so I’m not mad about it
My cat has been the same, but I feel like a truly mean cat mom because it's getting on my LAST nerve! He keeps trying to sleep on me every night the last few weeks and I'm so uncomfortable so I keep kicking him off the couch.
@mikkimikey I hope things calm down and you get to go home soon! Hanging out in the hospital is no fun. I hope you are getting rest.
@psuxray07 I would be talking to the director too! I would get all mama bear if I knew someone was yelling at my DS for something so silly as not remembering a letter... he's 4 for goodness sake. And sometimes you just KNOW about people when you see them! There's one of those at our daycare, just someone who I didn't really like from first looking at her. She doesn't work there anymore because she was really lazy and lots of parents complained.
@mikkimikey Oh no! That's so scary. Glad you are being treated and fx you get released soon!
So I bought a pregnancy pillow yesterday because I have been sleeping SO bad lately. Well last night was the best night's sleep I have gotten in forever! I definitely recommend a pregnancy pillow! Best part is I got it for $30 at Burlington.
@mikkimikey So scary! I'm glad they're keeping an eye on you - FX you get to go home soon!
Add me to the working-til-the-baby-comes club! I teach, so no paid leave for me, and I'll need every last bit of that final paycheck. My due date is the Friday before spring break, so I don't imagine I'll be back after break though...

Good morning ladies!!! It's supposed to be almost 50 degrees here today!
@JJMNO1616 I'm working until the end! With DS I was working from home (bad weather) the day I went into labor (water broke in the PM) (39w6d). With DD1 I had my 40 week appointment (40w0d... My kids like their due dates lol), was closed up tight, went to work and contractions started around 11. By 1pm I knew I needed to pay attention to timing, after an hour I packed up and headed home! Both of my labors have been s l o w and my job is very sedentary so I don't mind working up to the end!
@Dan0081 Super cute... but holy balls 400 days of gestation
@Psuxray07 Grrrr... I would have said something too. It would be very out of the ordinary for DS to be upset and say one of his teachers was mean to him.
DS: EDD, December 19th, 2014. Born, December 19th, 2014! DD: EDD, July 18th, 2016. Born, July 19th, 2016!
@JJMNO1616 I plan on working right up until birth! I did it last time too. In fact, I spent part of my labor at work. The beginning contractions didn't hurt much, so I decided it was better to be busy than to sit at home and fret.
I honestly can't imagine spending a week of maternity leave without the baby being here. The time off is such a precious commodity, and every week that I can keep her out of daycare is that much stronger of an immune system she can muster.
@psuxray07 I would probably make a point to ask the teacher about what your son said. How old is he? My oldest forgot how some letters went forever. Sometimes he would ask to make sure he didn't write them backwards.
@tooraloorah I started watching that too! My son likes zumbo just desserts so we've been binging that on Netflix.
OB just called and my c/s date, which we had scheduled for March 26 at yesterday’s appt, has been moved to March 28 at noon. No biggie at all because the move is to accommodate my preferred OB’s schedule, and now baby will be born on my mom’s birthday! My husband seems to think that’s a little weird, but I’m pretty excited about it. She’ll be so happy!
@frenchiekinplusone I work as a mortgage loan processor and the end of the month is always hectic and busy. So, I plan to work through the end of March and begin my maternity leave 4/2. My due date is 4/15 so I'll likely have a week or two at home to get the nursery and my hospital bag finalized. My current plan is to return to work the day after Memorial Day, which would give me 8 weeks of leave. Though if I go past my due date, I may extend that by a week or two.
ETA: I have the option to work from home sometimes and may do that in the days leading up to my due date. However, I don't want to pick up a loan and start working on it and then go into labor halfway through and have to hand it off to a co-worker to finish.
@mikkimikey I'm glad that they were able to stop your contractions!
@JJMNO1616 With DS I worked up until delivery day, and it was fine. It was uncomfortable, yes, but it didn't matter if I was uncomfortable at home vs at work since I have a desk job anyway. If I had a physically demanding job, I probably would have taken time off prior. For this pregnancy though, I might take a little time off prior to labor because as I mentioned in the ticker change post, I'm a little paranoid about my water breaking at work and not making it to my hospital. Since I had early labor start really early, I was getting my cervix checked at every appointment, and at my last check I was 3cm dilated and 90% effaced, DS was born a few days later. This time around, if things are progressing like they did with DS, I might just call it good once my cervix gets to that point again.
@angiek1@kmc8217 I bought the Belly Bandit and found it relatively good at "slimming down" my belly after birth. I found it uncomfortable to sit in, and you sit for most of the day on the couch if you are nursing (or just to recover), so I didn't wear it a ton. But the first day I did wear it for a few hours I remember taking it off and being amazed at how my shape had changed. I wasn't doing it to look a certain way (you are going to look postpartum for a while and that's TOTALLY FINE), I just liked the "sucked in" feeling because for a while post-birth I felt like my organs were just floating around in space. It's hard to describe but I liked the support of feeling tucked back in. This time I'm looking into the Blanqi support leggings which maybe do the same compression thing but hopefully are more comfortable.
I will say if you are going to the Belly Bandit, get a smaller size than you think. It's hard to figure out what size to get when you have a belly going on but the one I got was too big after a couple weeks.
@irenejean your post about being far from the hospital has me nervous too! I commute on the train into Boston 4 days a week. A train ride to the stop I'd need to get to assuming all the start align on timing would be about 1.5 from walking out of my office to arriving. My last labor was 23 hours and I felt very in control (I was opposite and actually delivered in Boston so I was driving the 45 minutes into the city for delivery) I guess if I felt it was an emergency i'd go to the hospital I delivered at last time but part of me thinks I shouldn't try getting on the train at all if I need to get out of the city. I can't control it so i'm going to have to go off my gut and i'll likely work from home if possible as I get closer. (Due date and after maybe).
Clearly its on my mind on haha! Thanks alot! You just never know, last time it was one day after my due date at 1am, my first contractions stayed 5-7 minutes apart at the longest interval from the first one to actual delivery. I stayed home all day and went in when they got closer together. Anything could happen this time of course!
Update: I was discharged late last night (around 9:30). They wanted me to be able to leave earlier, but they had to monitor her heart rate and my contractions one more time for a half an hour before I could leave.
My little wiggleworm kept kicking off the monitors or squirming away from them!
@ftm_ohio lol, yeah they are always on me if I'm on the couch, mainly Puff. And he'll get up and do something for like not even 5 mins and come right back. I do move him if my legs start hurting, but I feel bad bc he's so cute, lol.
@mcb2016 He's 4. I've never even spoken to his teacher. She isn't there when I drop him off or pick him up, so I emailed the director, who I've had plenty of contact with so I figured it'd be easier. Also, I didn't like his teacher's face when I did see her, so I don't trust what her answers would be, lol.
My prenatal physical therapist (I’m going for back pain) said the belly bands, etc are really good for helping your pelvic muscles post pardum too. Heaven knows I need to be doing kegels more than I do!! This is baby #2! Hoping my lady bits will recover nicely again lol!
I want all the food and the candy and I am such a health nut normally that my husband has no idea what to do with me. Give me Oreos and back off.
@mikkimikey glad to hear you are home and things seem stable! Did they say anything about possible triggers or are they talking pelvic rest?
@psuxray07 I feel bad too cuz I love my boy, he's the best cat in the world, but I'm just SO uncomfortable and he always wants to lay on my belly, so then baby gets mad and is kicking like crazy to get the cat off my belly so then I can't get to sleep.
During the day I let him hang with me, but I can't do it at bedtime anymore!
@ftm_ohio ohh I didn't know you meant for sleeping. I've been closing our bedroom door for forever before pregnancy bc he'd always lay with me and I'd be so uncomfortable, lol. Now, since he's been following me around more, he stands outside the door in the mornings and meows until I let him in. So annoying lol
Is anyone else starting to freak out about having a baby/more kids? I've officially hit "oh shit I'm going to have 3 kids" status. I don't know how I'll manage work, workouts, school drop off/pickup, daycare runs and of course all the financial stuff that comes along w it. Plus normal stuff like cleaning, errands and so on. I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Yes, definitely! Mine are all close in age so we are still somewhat in the “baby stage” with a 19 month old but the thought of a) having FOUR of them and b) trying to do it all with newborn-era sleep deprivation is scary scary scary.

@beach_mama@lindsye yup, I’m right there with you both. I cannot FATHOM how I’m gonna handle all this stuff that’s about to head my way. I legitimately start to get anxious if I let my mind envision the newborn stage again. I mean, we’re here for the 3rd and 4th times so obviously we’ve gotten through it before, but...HOLY SHIT. Another baby!
