@ffw0617 I'm so sorry you have to keep giving up vacations! That really sucks. Sometimes I feel the same way with MH about always giving and never getting anything in return. Hopefully he'll realize that you have to come before work at least some of the time.
Me 30 Him 30 Married August 2015 DS born 5/23/2018 TTC #2 July 2020
Missed a lot over the weekend I guess! I’m just too busy! I’m sorry your vacation plans have gotten wrecked so much @ffw0617 !! That definitely seems unfair to me.
Vivid dreams, gross. I hate them and had one last night. I woke up panicked that we had lost baby because I was sleeping on my back. Then opened Instagram and two people I follow had posted about their still births so it only made my fears worse. PgAL brain is no good.
AFM we are supposed to get a huge storm Wednesday-Thursday and there’s potential for closing school or a late start. Yippee, right? (I work in the school and would be off too) here’s the kicker; I have a conference Wednesday-Friday and will be THERE if school closes so I wont get to be home enjoying the snow day in my PJs. I’m praying it’s bad enough Wednesday that we can’t even make it up to where the conference is. Is that bad? Oh well.

@lisa2589 awww hope kitty heals up quickly! we had our girl done last feb. she was 8 yrs old so I was a nervous wreck. I was stupid and took her cone off and didn't restrain her at all. 2 days later dh was taking her back to the vet cause her incision was opening up! the next 2 weeks were soooo not fun trying to keep her from using any stairs or jumping on anything. ugh! hope it all goes quickly and smoothly for you!
def agree with sugar! DS would go crazy after I ate icecream. especially ben and jerry's half baked! I'd see head and booty rolls, feet sticking out this way and that way. so funny.
for baby deals, check to see if you have a JBF (just between friends) sale happening around you. if so, and you've never signed up before, sign up as a first time mom (even if you're not a first timer). then you can get in early and get the best pick of stuff! JBF sale time is my faaaaavorite!! take a wagon something, for real.

AFM I want a warm drink so bad. choc is a no go right now so no hot choc. my usual instant French vanilla cappuccino doesn't sound good at all (to creamy or something). I'm not a coffee drinker. so I thought tea. I never ever drink tea. only chuggled some green tea the last couple months of TTC. DH found some French vanilla decaff tea I tried yesterday... meh. I don't like mint or ginger, so those ones are out. And i just don't want to keep buying boxes (even the multi packs) looking for that right 'kind'. grrrr.

@catlady1215 I've been craving hot liquids too. I've been drinking a lot more tea and barely any coffee, which is a complete turn around for me. Also have been loving all the hot brothy, sweet and sour soup you can think of. Everytime DH asks me what I want for dinner I say soup, and I was never a soup person. Has to be broth kind though, no creamy based, pureed stuff. Maybe try cup-a-soups? If you like them!
Saturday's thread was great, I was catching up on the whole thing while eating sushi off a conveyor belt at one of my favorite eateries near my house (look up Kura Sushi if you're ever in Atlanta, you won't regret it!) But i am a little lost on the context of the ramen gifs, please someone explain to me what that absurdity meant?!
They were great gifs btw, I was just hella confused
@fitzandgiggles we had been talking about ramen and Pho cravings on the What My Pregnant Self is Eating board. *edited to include the Randoms For the New Year board discussion, too. ***
@sabby2 ohhh I didn't think of apple cider. that might be good!
@becca_123 glad i'm not alone! wonder if its the pregnancy or time of year.. or both! I've been having so much ramen the past few weeks, I don't know if I'd find broth relaxing like I want haha.

@fitzandgiggles noodle gifs are also hardcore popular on the TTGP board bc there was once a crazy drive by asking about TTC advice that kept talking about noodles?
So I've been MIA for a while now. I've been dealing with some prenatal depression and going through a lot of changes at home. DH started a new job a few weeks ago and it's taken some adjustment since it's longer hours. I was also in the process of interviewing Bc my current job sucks. I finally found another job and start at the end of January. Also DD started climbing out of her crib. She's 2. So we transitioned her into a toddler bed. Overall just a season of a lot of changes and me not being mentally ready to keep participating. However, I decided in 2018 I'm going to make more of an effort to make more connections. I've loved catching up so far. I hope you ladies can welcome me back! Sorry for the random rant!
Apparently my OB doesn't do anatomy scans until 22 weeks. So I don't get one until mid Feb.. boooo. On the plus side, my Dr looked at baby and said he's positive it's a girl. I'm 17+5 so it shouldn't change, right? I hope not, I want a girl lol. (But would also love a boy haha)
I so badly want to open that bachelor thread but I’m not going to...we only have Hulu so I won’t be able to watch it till tomorrow...

@sabby2 like 23andme? Nope, did mine a few years ago. Fascinating! And I got to skip some of the genetic testing at my first OB visit because DH and I both had done it.
@sabby2 call me a conspiracy theorist but I always thought it was a clever way to get people to offer up their DNA, framing it as a way to see their heritage. Meanwhile, the govt now has that on file too...
@stephcat421 I mean, you find out a lot more than heritage since you can download the raw data and run it through promethease. And if the govt has a court order to get your dna sample from a private company they can also just get one to have you provide them a sample. I get it’s not for everyone, but knowledge is power, and I’d rather know sooner than later my risk factors for certain diseases so I can follow the research and see what I can do to lower my risk before it’s too late.
This might seem extra, but we did DNA testing for our dog lol. Since we adopted her and she was clearly a mutt, we wanted to know if we needed to keep on the lookout for any future issues.
I did the ancestry DNA one a few years back. It was cool to compare it to my moms results and see what differed. As someone who doesn’t know anything about their birth father, it was cool to have a bit more information. I’ve been considering doing the 23 and me too.
@BurlapandLace I know almost nothing about my birth father - I have a name and that's it. I've been wanting to do ancestry or something to where I come from. I think I'm going to ask for that as my birthday gift this year
@ramblebee We did a DNA test in our dog, too! He’s a rescue mutt and people were constantly asking us “what kind of dog is that?!” I needed an answer to shut people up. But really, it totally helped us understand his crazy behavior (cattle dogs 4ever) and make sure we knew how to make him (and therefore us) happy.

crazy story my friends daughter did one. Found someone closely related but didn’t know them. Her mom had a half brother she never knew about :O this happened 3 days ago. But my mom just did one and I’m curious to see the results.
@fitzandgiggles noodle gifs are also hardcore popular on the TTGP board bc there was once a crazy drive by asking about TTC advice that kept talking about noodles?
There was the noodle ovulation predictor test!
That's what I think of when I see the noodle gifs, personally. I know we talk about pho and ramen here frequently lately, but TTGP 4 lyf.
So, thought after feeling basically normal yesterday I now puked 3 times this morning and still feel crummy. Thought maybe morning sickness but haven't had that for 3 weeks or so now and my stomach didn't get all cramps with that. Back to ginger ale and toast for me.
@doxiemoxie212 yes like those. I mean I see the.medical benefits of them, especially to those adopted, etc. But I still get a little creeped out that some company knows all of this stuff genetically about me.
In a similar vein, I would do blood or bucchal swab genetic testing for hereditary cancers or to find out how my body processes medication if needed so I'm not sure where to draw the line. Maybe it's because I know those are reputable companies and have worked with them in my job?
@doxiemoxie212@izza2 Thanks for clearing that up ladies! I've never used the ttgp board, I've been very very fortunate to get pregnant on the first cycle of trying 3 times in a row (If I could bottle this luck and sell it I'd be rich ) and I also avoid the "what my pregnant self is eating" thread because....
@doxiemoxie212 I'm pretty sure it's a moot point for me as I've already offered up blood for Counsyl genetic testing so I guess my DNA is out there anyways! I do thinks it's a cool idea just a little leery.
@sabby2 yea the familiarity thing is big. I’ve worked professionally with 23andme, met some of their c-suite folks, etc., so I feel super comfortable with them.
@ramblebee and @MoonOverGoldsboro - we had ours tested as well.. but only because we were sold a Shi-Poo... and the vets, groomers and anyone else was like a) he doesn't look like one, b) he's double coated, c) he's massive (22 lbs!) and d) was the opposite of our other shi-poo. (Gracie Mae is 9 lbs, poodle hair, tiny bones, tad nervous, springy and well coordinated, Willie Nielsen is 22 lbs, clumsy, double coated, clueless jerk of a dog, but snuggly and smoochy)
Turns out... he was exactly 50-50. Shih Tzu Poodle. We didn't tell the what we thought he may be. And when they described the breeds, Gracie Mae was half of the description, and what sh wasn't Willie was. They are truly 2 sides of the same coin. Fascinating!
Mama to a wonderful DD - Sep 2015, Wife to my DH since 2011, 2 dogs, a cat, and hoping to add No. 2 in May/June 2018. I just sent an email to HR asking how soon I need to start the maternity leave process... lol. I might be jumping the gun here with 4 months to go. But I work from home so if any papers need snail mailed, filled out by my dr and mailed back, I figured I'd atleast like to know when to start? lol. oooorrrr I'm just anxious
but also had a legitimate question, cause i can't remember for sure, about if I accrue PTO while off cause I need to put in my yearly requests with my manager soon. so want to figure out what i'll have next fall/winter.

Random thing I'll never say again - knowing where the baby is sitting explains why I feel certain things. Baby is sitting in breech, so I just got kicked in the abdomen. Only time I'll ever be happy about that.
Also, my H was saying at work "I never thought I'd say this, but I want my kid to open it's legs. I feel uncomfortable saying that" lolololol
Ever since the new year hit it has changed so much about my feelings about pg and having more kids. We use to want them basically back to back (like18 months apart or less). I thought I'd be done with pg by 30. Now I'm almost sure I don't want to get pg again anytime soon. I know I am blessed just to be able to get pg and I am blessed to be able to carry a child. So I'm trying so hard not to complain to anyone.
@misskittydanger you say that as I've been sitting here getting kicks to my bladder. they're very light for now, but I feel them. DS loooved to kick and headbutt my bladder. such an odd feeling, and so much more fun as they get stronger
