I feel like my OB visit schedule is weird now after reading all of yours. I have a 28-week, 32-week, and 36-week appointment. At 38-weeks is when I start weekly visits. Hoping all stays well during those 4-week breaks.
@kmalls I go next Friday. I ended up skipping my glucose last week so i'm doing that tomorrow. Good luck with the circus! I only have DD but she does come to almost all my appts. The doctors always ask if she wants to help with the doppler so its nice they are good about it!
OMFG, can someone describe RLP to me? I don't believe I've ever had it in previous pregnancies but my lower pelvic area randomly HURTS for no apparent reason. It's enough to take my breath away or actually cause me to make a noise/say something ("Ow!"). It's sort of a stabby feeling in my lower-left pelvic area. One night this week it actually kind of 'spread across' the whole region down there and I felt like the bottom half of my body was going to fall off. It doesn't hurt at all when sitting... only when standing or walking. Does this sound like RLP or something else?? (It's not constant, just sporadic and completely random.)

In regards to a night nurse, I can see the allure, but when I had a newborn my brain was hardwired to go assist my baby when she cried. Maybe it would have worked if we had a bigger house, but the instant I even heard a snippet of crying, I was wide awake and helpless go not go to her. My husband eventually refused to let me come out to the living room, and basically had to weather bonding with my girl (She was a mommy's girl the minute she was born, crying if anyone else held her, including DH). Eventually they settled into an understanding, but only after I laid in bed wide awake and listened anxiously to her crying with him, which would render the idea of paying someone to care for her moot.
@ladythrice the stabbing pain definitely sounds like RLP, at times mine makes me stop what I’m doing. It felt like my uterus was tearing at the bottom the other day, it was awful. That being said, it only happens when I’m actively doing something — like, going from sitting to standing, coughing, sneezing, etc. It never just appears out of nowhere.
@ladythrice That sounds similar to RLP I've experienced. It can be so bad that I double over in pain or have to lean against a wall until it passes. It's usually near my ovary but can happen in other places like my lower middle abdomen. But like @kmalls said, it only happens when I make a sudden-ish movement (twisting at the waist, standing from sitting, etc.), not while I'm standing still.
@kmalls@kaymaroo, thanks! I can't remember if I had a sudden movement before the pain struck... I do know that i have felt that 'uterus tearing away' feeling and had to lean on something until it passes. I'm going to pay more attention and see if its related to my movements.

@fancybelmont - my appointments are all over the board it seems. I’m 26 weeks now, appointment next week will only be 2 weeks since prior appointment. I’m AMA carrying twins, but I don’t think I am deemed high risk (maybe AMA is automatically high risk - IDK).
@peppersmith22 - glad the polyp is manageable and that you went in to be checked out!
Just to put in my two cents, I don't go to every two weeks until 32 weeks for OB appts.
Sort of obscure question: I had a lap choly a little over a year ago (Nov 2016) and suddenly the last week I've have quite a bit of discomfort (bordering on painful) in the RUQ of my abdomen, exactly where I had pain post-op... My question is, has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible that baby is pushing on scar tissue or something??
I am planning to ask my OB about this at my next appt, but I was just wondering if you guys had any stories.
@ftm_ohio my lap choly was in November of 2011 but yes, with my first pregnancy it occurred more, especially phantom attacks. This pregnancy it’s been scar tissue pain and issues with my lap nissen fundoplication. However, my doctor was not concerned. I would still mention to your OB because RUQ pain can be an indication of other pregnancy related issues, but those can be ruled out!
@kbamomma33 - Adding my two-cents on the night nurse. I totally agree with the other comments that say go it alone and if you feel you need a night nurse then explore that route. I don't want this to come off wrong, but I find it entertaining that people are so focused on your lack of sleep b/c of the baby. I mean to me it comes with the territory. I could also feel this way because I've never met or heard of anyone using a night nurse outside of Miranda from Sex and the City and the concept is just so foreign to me.
@fancybelmont I have my 28 week appointment on Tuesday and then I start seeing my OB every two weeks until the end of Feb. and then I go weekly during the month of March (I'm due April 3).
@angiek1 I was actually the one asking about a night nurse..... I totally agree with you. Lack of sleep is part of being a mom and I'm gathering it's much easier with just one that multiple kiddos. I appreciate that people around me are all worried about my not getting sleep, but I'm not made of tissue paper, I'll be fine. My husband, bless his heart, has the same attitude about sleep deprivation that most men have about the flu. Having kids will be hardest on him, but I think it will do him good in the end
@stalkinghorse my husband was the WORST with interrupted sleep when we first started having kids. Such a..... baby... about it. I always wanted to smack him. After three years and two kids though he's much less whiney about it. He still feels the deprivation worse than I do, but he's not nearly as big a baby about it.

@ladythrice same with my husband. Is ability to recover is ridiculous. I side eye him so much when he complains about being tired because woken up by the baby (yeah you heard him and then went back to sleep). Men and their beauty sleep... such princesses
@ladythrice@danjoly@stalkinghorse same with mine as well. He does have some actual fatigue/sleep issues that he deals with so I am trying to be sympathetic and understanding about that, but he’s definitely already on edge about his sleep schedule changing when baby is here and is a huge man-child about that stuff (and man-flu, etc). I think we’ve got a shift plan down (key word, plan lol) so I hope we’ll be ok there but I can definitely see myself wanting to kill him the first few months
Diastasis recti, anyone? Based on YouTube videos (lol) I’m pretty sure I have it (belly gets pointy/cone shaped if I flex my abs like when doing a crunch or full plank). I mentioned it in my OB appt today and then we both forgot to actually have her check for it when she measured me and I didn’t realize til I left. I know it’s common, but has anyone dealt with it before? How was the affect of it post-partum?
I have been noticing pelvic pain over the past 24 hours. It feels like my pelvic bones themselves are sore but I don't have any other pain and I wouldn't even call it pressure. Has anyone else experienced this?
@peppersmith22 sorry to hear! it is funny what they consider vs minor bleeding. i didn't think mine was that big of a deal either! it sounds much scarier when they call it hemorrhaging
@vintageandrea90 I had this question on one of the questions threads too! I have an AP with this pregnancy, and I don’t feel him like I felt DS1. Like you said, it’s MAYBE 10 times a day, and very light and low. Sometimes I can feel interior kicks too. I’m missing all the movement and rolling that I had in my first pregnancy, but as he grows I’m assuming I’ll be feeling more!
Mama to Rowan Sebastian and baby boy coming in April!

I had it after DD. There are exercises that you can do to close it. I just found a bunch on YouTube and Pinterest specifically for DR. I also used an abdominal binder for several weeks (or maybe like 2 months?) PP, and I think it really helped. It's important to make sure and not do certain exercises (like crunches and honestly, I forget what else) until after it closes because that can make it worse/harder to close. I forget how long it took, but mine was closed within the first year, probably before then.
Thanks @kbamomma33 ! I’ll have to look up some exercises and confirm with my OB that I actually have it next appt. Frustrating because I was told I could do modified crunches (back propped up) but no twisting which could cause DR, and yet here we are... sigh. Hoping the separation is small and won’t make getting back into shape too difficult. Wondering about having to give up my barre classes though
@frenchiekinplusone In case I wasn't clear, the DR exercises are to be done after baby. I would also wait until after baby to try and determine if it will be a problem that requires special exercises to close. From what I understand, some separation (and the cone thing that you described) is normal in pregnancy and doesn't necessarily indicate that you will have a huge gap remaining after baby. I personally waited until my 6 week pp appointment to discuss this stuff with my OB-- by then you'll have a better idea what exactly the situation is and how best to treat it.
@frenchiekinplusone I got it after my DD. I honestly don’t remember how it affected me. I had a C section so regular crunches to start with were difficult. With this pregnancy, I noticed it was back (I don’t remember if I had it during pregnancy with DD) maybe 5-6 weeks ago. The separation is pretty big in my case but there’s not much I can do for now. My OBs advice to me was to avoid sitting straight up and rather roll to my side first to avoid tugging too much on those muscles.
Me (33). DH (37). DD (2.2012). MCs x4. After 4 years & 7 months, due 4.2018!
OMG @stalkinghorse your statement made me laugh out loud! "husband, bless his heart, has the same attitude about sleep deprivation that most men have about the flu."
This is really random and specific BUT has anyone felt a random tug in your belly and a second of numbness when they yawn? I’m terrified it means I’m going to tear a muscle or something.
@tooraloorah thanks for the feedback. I didn't really consider that it might just be from my belly stretching too.. Will definitely still mention it to my doc! Thanks!
@Mattel thanks!! I read about the rolling to the side thing too which I’ve been trying to do lately. We have a pretty deep couch and my prego butt gets stuck in it (lol) so I’m usually hoisting myself out which I’m sure puts too much strain on my abs... so I’m embracing looking like a weirdo and rolling to the side to get off the couch haha
@JJMNO1616 I am also having horrible pelvic pain! I never experienced this with my first pregnancy. I find it hurting when I stand on one foot (getting dressed) or changing positions after time. Sometimes I'm even aware of it when I'm just walking. I've been trying to just be very aware of my movements and slow down. Also I've used heating pad or ice in the evenings. I was going to talk to Dr. at my next appointment.
@aabbaby I feel it the most when I am walking. It’s so uncomfortable!! I have only noticed it over the past 3 days but it doesn’t seem to be getting better. I did a little googling and apparently it’s not that uncommon. I just hope it doesn’t get worse because of corse I read a ton of horror stories online about it resulting in women on bed rest.
Anyone experiencing rib pain on one or both sides?
I had persistant rib pain fro 34 weeks on last pregnancy. However I was pretty taken back to already be experiencing something similar at 27 weeks. Surely the baby couldn't be up that high or have run out of room yet. I'm read exercise and chiropractors are my best bet but will take any tips you all have!
I did notice that its worse on days I am taking the train into work and siting all day...so basically during the work week.
@ekendall09 I noticed that I am far more uncomfortable at work than at home and I'm not sure if it's because I don't move around at work at much or what
@peppersmith22 I was wondering that too. I think the sitting is what makes it worse for me. I'm going to try and get up more throughout the day to combat it and see if I can get any relief.
@ekendall09 I'm feeling far more squished this time vs my prior 2. I have a desk job and find i need to lean back more to avoid the pain you are describing. Same when I'm in the car. This started a few weeks ago for me. I don't remember being this uncomfortable w my girls and certainly not this early on.
@ekendall09@hedgepig@peppersmith22@beach_mama I'm feeling squished too. Sitting definitely makes it worse and with my scoliosis I hunch over which adds to the problem. I didn't experience this with DS1 at all. What are we going to do for ~3 more months??
