Hello, let me introduce myself first..
For the first 30 years of my life, everything was smooth and worry-free. I was my parents’ most beloved child, found my true love in college, and happily married him after graduation.
At work, I was my boss’s most valued employee. Whenever I was in charge of a project, colleagues would inevitably say, “Oh, then I’m totally at ease.” I was constantly named “Employee of the Year,” with generous bonuses every year.
Later, I started my own business. Within just three months, I had broken into the market and started making money. By the fifth month, I was earning twice my previous salary. Growth was steady month after month. Right when the business needed more hands, I serendipitously met an amazing partner, and the company reached a whole new level.
Really, it seemed like at every step, whatever I needed, a pair of hands would always place it right in front of me, just in time.
My Two Girls: Ellie & Mia
Meet Ellie, My Firstborn
In 2020, my husband and I decided to have a child. After trying for over a year, we finally got the news in 2021 that a little one was on the way. In 2022, we welcomed our first child, Ellie. She made me a mother.
She is utterly adorable—big eyes, rosy skin, chubby little hands. Every time I look at her, I can’t help but give her a kiss. She is pure joy, and I love her more each day.
But as a first-time mom, I faced unprecedented difficulties. The postpartum tearing wouldn’t heal, and the pain was excruciating. Clogged milk ducts made my breasts hard as rocks. The severe sleep deprivation… And what was even more crushing was that, with zero parenting experience, I was clueless when faced with her unexplained wailing, night terrors, refusal to nurse, constipation, diarrhea, fevers… I desperately searched online, longing for one accurate, truly useful answer!
It was during this time that I thought, once I make it through this “dark” path, I must leave a light on for other new moms.
And Then Came Mia
Ellie had just turned one when I got pregnant again. In 2024, we welcomed our second daughter, Mia.
Completely different from Ellie, Mia is a great eater and sleeper. Although she had her fussy moments in the first two months, starting almost from month three, she became super easygoing. She feeds on schedule, gradually sleeps through the night, loves her solid foods, and adapted quickly when I had to stop breastfeeding due to mastitis.
This made me realize just how vastly different babies can be! It made me even more determined to write about my experiences.
Why I Had to Start This Blog
The Catalyst: A Life Pivoted
After Mia was born, my business also began to decline sharply. I had no choice but to close it and become a full-time mom. My work no longer involves Excel and Word, but instead revolves around changing diapers, washing bottles, making baby food, and managing household chores…
This has been a monumental challenge for me. All my past achievements seem irrelevant now. Managing two young children has brought me a sense of frustration I’ve never known before.
The Daily Reality
They are always fighting over things. When one is in my arms, the other immediately demands to be held too. When I try to cook, Ellie wants me to read her a book. When I attempt to load the washing machine, Mia has a diaper blowout, and I must drop everything to change her…
By the time I finish all that, I see the cup of hot coffee on the table has gone cold again. And it’s not until evening that I remember, “Oh my goodness, the clothes are still in the hamper, unwashed!”
Of course, being a mom is filled with happiness, but that doesn’t negate how hard it is.
My Promise to You
Because I’ve walked this path myself, I won’t just tell you how joyful motherhood is, like many websites do. I want to share my real, unfiltered experiences so every new mom can find a “companion” here.
I want to tell you: you are not alone. What you’re going through, I’ve been there too. Your breakdowns, your helplessness, your moments of losing control—I’ve had them all. You don’t need to feel guilty. This is just a small, necessary stretch of the journey for every mom.
My Hope for This Space
I really want to share my parenting experiences—not just the warm, glowing moments, but to honestly document the pitfalls I’ve stumbled into, the tears I’ve shed, and the “survival wisdom” I’ve scraped together in utter exhaustion.
The Goal: A Mom’s Toolkit
I hope this blog becomes a “mom’s toolkit,” filled not with vague theories, but with:
- Practical Tips: Like how to quickly figure out why a baby is crying, tried-and-true methods for dealing with clogged ducts, or how to efficiently manage the daily grind with twins (or two under two) solo.
- Pitfall Avoidance Guides: Sharing the baby products I regret buying the most, and those “game-changer” parenting hacks. Letting you know which parenting anxieties you can let go of, and which principles are worth holding onto.
- A Community for Moms: I hope my stories connect me with more moms like you. We can cheer each other on in the comments, share our own tricks, turning the storms we face alone into a journey we walk together.
The Bigger Vision
My previous career taught me to analyze data, solve problems, and optimize processes. Now, I’m applying all those skills to this new “position” of Mom. I want to prove that a mom’s value is absolutely not confined to the home. The mindset, resilience, and creativity we built in our careers can shine just as brightly—perhaps even brighter—in this more complex, long-term “project” of raising humans, and can even be transformed into a force that helps others.
My hope is simple: that every mom who opens this blog can let out a sigh of relief and say, “So it’s not just me.” Then, she can find a bit of practical info, a dose of comforting solidarity, and return to her sweet, chaotic mom-life with a little more confidence and a little less weight on her shoulders.
This road? Let’s walk it together.
Re: Low AMH Level
@emmasemm good to hear from you. It might not be a bad idea to explore different reasons for the mishap.
AFM, I just did my 7th day of stimming and will be going for US and bloodwork tmrw. I was doing 75 of menopur and 150 for the last 2 days. Today is the first time this cycle, I’m feeling nauseous after my shot.
@JamieH2000 that's a great lining check I feel like mine wasn't much higher then 8/9 when I did my FET. We're on our way chica, u got this lady!!!
@emmasemm it's so interesting all the different rules. My place allowed dhea I think all of US does mine won't do hgh while other places do. I have high hopes for you!! just wish we all didn't have to work so hard through this process!!
I'm pretty confused as well my last cycle I really was in a lot of pain and I doctor expressed 0HSS as well which really seems ludicrous but what Do I kno. I pray I can continue being inspirational as I'm scared all the time. Tomorrow is the big testing day so praying hard all will be ok!!
The fact that your family has Endo it's interesting that your doctor didn't look further into it...ugh I'm frustrated for you, I kno that 2 wks of hope all too well!!! Hang in there it's coming lady!!

@jamieH2000 sending lots of thickening vibes for your uterus!!!!! I told my RE that I wanted to go up on my meds and she was totally cool with it so now i'm on 150 menopur and 300 follistim. That was all you
AFM I got the green light to start Stims again yesterday so i'm cautiously proceeding after 11 days of Estrogen Priming. We shall see if i make it to retrieval this time. I totally screwed up my meds by mixing the menopur with 2cc of saline instead of 1 cc last night, but tonight I got it all right. Phew. doing HGH in the AM but it really is such a small dose.
I think i'm going to try to figure out making my signature finally ;-) to keep track of all these cycles. this is IVF 4.5
Homozygous MTHFR Cr677
DOR - AMH .27 High FSH (don't even know how high)
2 iui's to start - BFN
IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5! 2 5AA 1 6BB PGS results = all abnormal
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty. Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS
Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!! 1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.
FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol
Chemical pregnancy
FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN
Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2???? Miscarriage at 8 weeks. viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal
DEIVF cycle - picked a donor who is willing to be open! Her cycle resulted in in 4 PGS Normal embryos
1st transfer - chemical pregnancy
2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!
@JamieH2000 how are you doing?
@adc0417- glad they aren't concerned and you can keep going! When do you go back next?
AFM- the tech this morning was the one who doesn't give me tons a info. Sounds like one lining measurement was above 9mm at least, so hopefully the rest were at least 8 something. Just waiting anxiously for the nurse to call with instructions. Really hoping tonight is trigger night since I am tired of going in! Last night was rough as our donor coordinator emailed that our donor was recently diagnosed with ADD and anxiety. I freaked out a little since ADD is very highly related to genetics, so now I am worried about the risk to our children. Based on what I read, it sounds like 30-50% risk of a child having ADD if a parent does. I mean nothing I can do now about it since I wouldn't just want to throw out the embryos and start over... but hoping if she wasn't diagnosed until uppers 20's, its not really a severe issue for her or anything. But just more bad news and stress I didn't need right now...

@JamieH2000 I lurk on this thread from time to time as I have a low AMH level for my age, however, I've never participated. I'm so sorry that you have yet another unexpected turn in your journey. I have some experience with ADD/ADHD and I just wanted to help to quell some of your anxiety if you were open to it. I'm going to put it in a spoiler box, and *TW* that a child is mentioned.

Hearing you have AMH it's scary and it's hard because you don't have all of this information that explains it. I know when I was diagnosed with that I guess about two years ago I didn't find much about it and this thread was definitely a lifesaver for me.
At first my RE thought that the results of My AMH were wrong and she ran another test that is more accurate and still came back the same way .30. I will say after a year of vitamin supplements Coq10, dhea, vitamin D and it actually went up to .4 so I was happy about that. My RE originally didn't think that taking extra vitamins would help but you do get to the point that you want to try everything.
It's great that you just started trying I was trying a full year before Seeking help. It's great you're just getting started I don't even think you should feel jaded or worried because it just means that you may not have as Many years to still produce as many eggs as other women TTC. What's your AFC and FSH?

My next monitoring appt is on Sunday. Really praying something’s brewing inside.
@dreamscapes_ you definitely are at the right place! I know I definitely feel more at home on this thread, since our cycles tend to run a little differently than other ppl.
@tosh24 totally awesome of you to share like you have. And especially after the rough weeks you’ve had with the cancelled cycle. Hope your results came back clear to move ahead.
@adc0417 Fx you see some good growth on Sunday. Even if it’s not many I hope you can keep moving forward this time.
@hopefuljj I’m really hoping you can make it through this whole cycle! With eleven days priming things will be slow to start but I’m sending your eggs lots of grow vibes!
@hopeful_mom hope peanut is snuggling away happy inside!
@dreamscapes welcome and glad you have come over to join us here. Sorry, this will probably be a long post so I will spoiler it. It shouldn’t contain any triggers for anyone.
If you have the money or insurance coverage (and emotional endurance - don’t underestimate that part!) what many ladies do is multiple retrieval cycles, each time freezing whatever is viable on day 5 each cycle. So for a person with normal AMH they might be able to freeze 4-8 day 5 blasts from one ER, we might need 7 or 8 ERs to get the same number of blasts.
And that’s before you start thinking of PGS testing... but I’ll leave that for another day.
When you have “enough” frozen blasts then it’s time to move to FETs. We have our very own success story from this approach on this thread - @hopeful_mom - if you read her history in the spoiler you’re hopefully as encouraged as me that this can work!!!
Sometimes particular protocols don’t seem to work so well for us. But it’s very much trial and error. So just because one doesn’t work it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try another. What you need is an RE who deals with DOR every day and sees us as an exciting puzzle to solve - not one who thinks we will ruin his stats.
Some REs don’t suggest IVF for us as they think it’s a waste of money if we only get one or two eggs from a cycle - but I have found we learnt a lot more about my egg quality by doing the ERs. Also even if we only get 2 eggs in a cycle, that’s another egg we get that would have been lost naturally (as every month we lose many more eggs than the one that is released and IVF tries to “catch” more of those instead of losing them - in very simple terms). But medicated IUIs might be an option if insurance or money is a limiting factor, as long as you would be ok with multiples, though the risk is lower for us than average patients.
If during your ERs you find really poor egg quality (along with low quantity) or due to money or time constraints that’s when REs usually start talking about donor egg (DE). If your DH is with you in the appointment, maybe good to prep him in advance so he isn’t blindsided. Donor egg is a really personal decision. I’ve got huge admiration for the ladies who decide donor egg is their path - @jamieh2000 is my hero for this (especially as even donor has not been straightforward for her so far!). The further I get through my journey and the more people I come across the More at home I also feel with it. (I have a different issue that it’s not legal where I live, so that adds a whole different dimension in our decision making process)
Other than that wishing you good luck on Tuesday and we are here to help you decipher your meeting after!
AFM WTF appointment is on Friday. Imight have a few questions on detail of protocols for one or two over the weekend as I’m emailing my RE my ideas in advance!

@dreamscapes_ - Welcome! I echo was the other ladies said. This thread is great and manages to stay pretty active even though we are all at different places and there is usually lots of waiting between cycles somehow. I feel very hopeful for you because of this article that came out recently:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/16/health/fertility-test-ovarian-reserve.html
Bascially, low AMH doesn't mean you can get pregnant.. it just means you won't be a good responder to IVF likely. While we are all here doing IVF with low AMH, its likely that low AMH is not our only problem. For me, while my AMH was low for me age, I was able to get a decent # of eggs once we got the right protocol (see my siggy), but we couldn't get many to day 5 and they wouldn't stick. So my issue is likely egg quality, more than quantity. So I am really hoping that your quality is good and you can hopefully have success naturally even!! Thanks for sharing about your husband! The more I hear about people with ADD/ADHD and how managable it is, it really helps me feel better about this new risk factor.
@hopefulljj- Thanks for sharing your story too! I wouldn't have been to concerned about the donor update, except for I'm pretty sure my husband has some mild ADD as well (he struggles with reading a full page, easily distracted, forgets where things are and why he went into a room). He is also smart and successful as an engineer who graduates with his MBA in a week... so I guess if the worst I have to deal with is alot of reminding him (or our child) to not forget stuff... so be it. I am soooo excited for your cycle! I'm gonna need daily updates chica!!
@adc0417- Thinking of you tomorrow and really hoping they are growing! Since this is a mini stim cycle, they will proceed with ER for even one egg right?
@emmasemm- I love your description of my situation.. I often feel the same! Like hasn't there been enough plot twists at this point? You are such a good contributor with your detailed explanations for everyone, and so knowledgable!! Thanks for your kind words about me doing ED too.. I hope you never have to consider that path, but hopefully I have helped everyone understand it better. Its not easy or cheap, but there are some pro's for sure. I never thought I would get to the point where I was ready to move on, but after 3 failures and unable to start a 4th try for month, I just realize I was ready to be a mom, even if it wasn't my genetics. Now I am excited that I *hopefully* have enough embryos for 2 children, since I have always wanted at least two. Anyways, I am still so hopeful you will get this to work with your OE and your dedicated research and RE! Happy to answer any questions, if I can, before your appt on Fri!
Well ladies.. we triggered last night! the IM shot wasn't nearly as bad as the IM pio. I start crinone sunday night and monday morning, so my bw has to be good when we check progesterone on Monday I think. So hopefully no surprises there. DH and I continue to debate 1 vs. 2... but our consents currently say 2, so we have to get new notarized consents if we want to change that. Obviously scared of the risks... but we FINALLY have a good lining for transfer so I want the best shot possible...

@adc0417 Thank you! We're just cautious about everything right now. A bunch of the people we've mentioned this to have kept jumping straight to adoption, which is just too expensive for us to even consider right now.
@emmasemm I don't yet know what those numbers are, but I'm sure the RE will probably want to run them. We do have some insurance coverage, but I don't know yet how far it'll stretch. I'm hoping to get something started this next cycle because our deductible is met for the year and it'll reset on the 1st. Once we pay our deductible, we split costs 50/50 with our insurance until we reach our out of pocket limit, at which point they take over until their lifetime cap on fertility services. So... Yeah, I don't know how much movement we'll be able to get on it, but we shall see. I do know that donor eggs are not an option for us due to cost, since I don't believe insurance covers them. So we'll just have to see what happens for now. Also, what's a WTF appointment?
@JamieH2000 Thank you! We're just going to have to see what happens. I do ovulate naturally sometimes, but of course, not a clue if they're "good" eggs or not. I really hope your procedure works for you! As for the ADD, in all honesty, if he has a list and sticks to it, things work out well. Routine also helps immensely. The problem is just getting something to become a routine for him.

In order to take advantage of the insurance situation you could either push to get as much testing eg an HSG done during December so you know if your tubes are clear and thus if IUI might be an option, or push to start a treatment cycle. Though without checking your tubes first most REs won’t do an IUI.
But you’ll know more after the appointment.
A WTF appointment is a “what the f***” appointment to talk about what went wrong and what your next options are.

Normally at first appointments they will do blood work and US, but if you’re not day 2-4 call you in for day 3 BW and US again. If you’re at another point in your cycle they will look to see the uterus and ovaries look the right size and shape for the time of the month, if you’re in the first half of your cycle see which side you have a follicle growing and that it’s normal progression for whatever day you are. If you’re in your LP then they might look at your progesterone level and to see if your uterine lining has the right thickness and is trilaminar. They should do a SA for you DH too. Feel free to check out some podcasts on the first RE appointment which are helpful - you will find good ones on “Beat Infertility” and “creating a family”.

@adc0417- Remind me, how many days have you been on stims? and was your FSH below 10 on day 3 of this cycle? I believe you are doing a low stim cycle, but I believe some DOR truly need high doses to really wake their ovaries up. I don't have that low of an AMH even, but i would only get 2-4 follicles to grow until I did max stims (450 of follistim, 150 of menopur). Cancelling really really sucks, but it may be worth to try again with another protocol if you aren't seeing any estrogen rise after a week or more of stims. Sorry you are in this situation.. I never thought I would get to a transfer after my first IVF was cancelled, second IVF only produced 2 eggs... but then my third IVF protocol worked so much better for me and I got 12 eggs total, 8 mature. So really don't give up hope yet, the protocol can make all the difference!

Back for # 2!
Yesterday was my day 13. I started out on 75 menopur and am now at 300. Naturally, my system doesn’t start kicking in till 2 weeks later. My first protocol was different( clomid + gonal f + menopur) and I had the same response and this was cx.
What 3 protocols did you try? @JamieH2000
