@hopefuljj fx your RE has some smart ideas on Monday in your follow up! And you are still HIO I assume just in case?

AFM monitoring had no surprises today. Which is good news!
The follie on the RHS has grown to 20mm (from 17mm), and suddenly had two friends appear but they're both only 9mm so unlikely to have a chance to catch up in time.
The two on the left which were 14mm are now 18.5mm, and the one that was just about 10mm is at 12mm.
Stimming longer makes no sense as we don't want to lose too many either.

So trigger is tonight and ER is 8am Friday!
Keeping everything crossed to try to get three eggs out of it and that their quality is not compromised by the longer stimming. If we get another one great, and if we have at least one emby to transfer it will be an ok cycle from my side. Of course I have a little hope to get two or even three for transfer (we would freeze one then) but priority No1 is one emby to transfer.

Assuming we get eggs and they fertilize well and grow ok then we plan a day 4 transfer (ahhh!) on Tuesday lunchtime.
After transfer I'm then heading straight to acupuncture (which I've been to 3 times now whilst stimming) and then onto a train for 6 hours. Which is probably the most effective way to keep me relaxing that afternoon!

With the way this cycle has gone (more follies appearing every monitoring session) I already mentioned today that I want to seriously talk Estrogen or Lupron priming for the next cycle. It seems clear to me that I am one of those people who has waves of follies recruited several times throughout a cycle - and if we can use priming to hold back 1 or 2 waves then I might really have a chance for 4-6 eggs in a single retrieval - which is a lot different to 1-2.

@hopefuljj sorry to hear about your cancelled cycle. It can be quite devastating. Hopefully your doc will have some good recommendations for your next cycle.

AFM, I’m now on my estrogen patch. Hoping for AF to arrive next Monday. Can’t wait to start my next cycle. Was wondering what are your thoughts on 3 day vs 5 day transfer? Know of any successes with 3 day transfer?

@emmasemm- I LOVE your update! I feel really good about your cycle! I am a little curious on the day 4 transfer, as no clinics do them here (its only day 3 or day 5 usually). I wonder what is the benefit of waiting day 4 vs day 3? If you have three or less, i would probably just put them all back in on day 3 and get them cozy! Usually if one has 4 or more, you wait to day 5 to weed out the strongest.

@adc0417- Glad you are getting started soon! The waiting is the worst! See my comments above on day 3 vs day 5. Odds are much higher with day 5, just because the "weaker" ones have normally stopped growing and it normally means you had multiple embryos.

AFM- Hysterscopy went fine yesterday. She said there wasn't as much to remove as she thought, so sounds like there just a few small ones. They did an endo scratch too. I am planning to stop BC after friday, and hopefully have a bleed before Wednesday so I can have a baseline on Wed before the long Thanksgiving weekend here. They did say they needed a pre-auth to come in before I start stimming, so now I am worrying about that and trying to get ahold of the finance department. Always something!!!

I graduated from the clinic yesterday so it was a hard scary day for me so it's interesting that I was still so sick on that day. I wanted to get past that hurdle from last time so I thank God everything is going and hopefully it continues!!

Peanut is doing great so that's the important thing! At first it looked like the baby was sleeping but then all of a sudden the baby was dancing all around it was hard to even get the images and then to hear the heartbeat but it's great. I go see the OB now on Monday.

this throwing up is just ridiculous it's really such a wear in tare Last night was just awful threw up five times I was just so sick

Similar to @jamieh2000, actually it's not the day of transfer itself which seem to make a difference. It's more that if an embryo is strong enough to grow to a good blast on day 5 then (all other things being equal) it has a good chance to implant. With a day 3 emby you don't know if it would have grown to blast or not, so you have an extra level of uncertainty. However it is believed that some embies that don't make it to blast in vitro could lead to success in the uterus. So if you don't have many embryos, rather than risk having no blasts to transfer on day 5 some REs suggest to transfer on day 3. Then you at least have some chance.
5 day blasts also have a "better reputation" because normally only day 5 blasts are frozen - and a lot of people do PGS testing. So if you have a PGS tested 5 day blast, then you know the embryo is capable to grow to day 5 and you know it's chromosomally normal.
In the end I think it comes down to a case by case decision.

@jamieh2000 good to hear the hysteroscopy went well! Fx AF comes on time and that you get the auth straightened out quickly! You're so close now!

AFM back home on the couch after ER. But we only got one mature egg :-(. The big follie had collapsed and the other one had an immature egg. So one mature egg. Now have to wait for the call tomorrow to know if it fertilized or not.
Feeling a bit bummed. But even if we can only get one egg at a time we want to keep going. Maybe it takes ten or more retrievals to find a good enough egg. We have one more round with insurance where I'm keen to experiment with a new protocol, if not discuss mini or natural IVF.

@emmasemm- I am glad your ER went smoothly, tho I totally understand being dissapointed in one egg given your 3 follies. I mean it does only take one of course! and hopefully this is it! But I do think your RE is learning with each cycle and I think with the right protocol, you should be able to get at least 2-3 eggs if they can get the follicles to grow evenly together. But, hopefully you won't need another cycle! Will you be doing a day 3 transfer then? Cheering you on of course!!

@hopeful_mom- I wish I could make you feel better but congrats on graduating! Your baby looks sooo big already! Hopefully the nausea will subside soon and you will be able to enjoy this pregnancy a little more!

@hopefuljj- Thanks for your thoughts! I called my insurance twice yesterday to make sure they have the Pre-auth being expedited! Sounds like it should be back on Mon/Tues. I took my last BC this morning, and now I will just have to hope and pray I get at least a light bleed so i can have a baseline next week. I woke up to a bit of spotting today, but its just probably left over from the hysterscopy. Its just hard to have faith my body will ever do anything as I want it. If the December timing doesn't work for a transfer... I am debating delaying until after my Maui trip the first week in Feb. I def don't want to keep waiting.. but I also don't want to try to get something in in January and then be in the tww while trying to enjoy Hawaii! Part of me wishes I didn't book the trip, but when we booked my transfer was supposed to be in the end of Sept! Who would have thought I still wouldn't being transferring by January? Should have expected it with my luck of course....

@JamieH2000 everything about IVF is so unpredictable it's amazing I have faith in your body but it's really hard going into a transfer when you know you have a trip that you want to go on. I was just saying last night to my mom I don't know how people can travel being pregnant and that's just because I'm so sick I can barely make it in a car ride that's longer than 15 minutes without being sick. Many women start to get sick by the fifth or sixth week and That could be right when you're on your trip so I guess that's something to think about too, some women have no sickness at all and I hope that you will be one of those women!!

@emmasemm I want to give you a big hug!!! Im excited that you have one good one but it's disappointing that the other two didn't come through for sure! It's so hard that we have to trust the doctors and try different protocols but I do think it is a good idea to do something different for your next cycle for sure. Like Jamie said hoping that u don't need it!!

@adc0417 my apologies for not posting to you sooner it's just very hard for me but I have been reading along with the ladies and they've all given you the advice that I would've said as well. I don't know if you can see my signature but I've done 8 IVF cycle so there's many different tries that we go through. I am a big fan of the day three transfers because I did get pregnant with doing that. TW it ended in a loss but I don't think that the D3 transfer had anything to do with that. If you have a good amount of eggs going at day three then they do sometimes wait till D5 to transfer so you're putting in the strongest embaby. I did embryo banking after my loss and I did PGS testing so D3 transfer was out for me.

Our one egg didn't fertilize. So we're officially benched for the rest of the month as there's no TWW if you know your egg is already in the medical waste bin. DH is really affected this time, which hurts me even more. RE will call on Monday. Then to make a plan for what and when for cycle 3.

@emmasemm I'm so sorry to hear you got less than expected at ER. Speaking from experience I know how devastating it can be. Ugh, I am hoping and praying that your egg fertilized and is going to grow into a strong golden embassy. The cycle where i only got two was the most torturous 6 days ever and neither of them made it to day 5 (we should have done a fresh cycle that transfer but i was still trying to bank for PGS testing at the time) but i have heard so many stories of hope where just one egg was all it took!!! I know it is hard to stay positive, and you should def feel all the feelings and treat yourself like the fertility warrior you are this weekend.

Hi everyone,

I've posted in the general forum but @JamieH2000 suggested I check this thread out. Here is my story.

Our third attempt at IVF got cancelled yesterday, on Day3 (again!) due to low follicle count and high FSH (18). We've been trying for about 3 years and had tried 3 IUIs (with clomid) earlier this year. None worked. We took a few months break to get ourselves ready (mentally) for IVF. Finally, we accepted we cant get pregnant naturally, or with IUI so we moved onto IVF. Our first attempt got cancelled at Day3 due to low follicle count (7) and high FSH (11). At the second attempt they saw 11 follicles and my FSH was ok, so we started. After 12 days of high doses of stims (follistim +menopur), only 3 follicles grew. We didn't go forward with retrieval because of the low chances and the fact that we cant afford to pay for multiple IVFs (insurance doesnt pay a dime). Still we spent over $6K just for that try. That cycle got converted to IUI which again didnt work. We went in yesterday to start the 3 IVF cycle and learned the heart breaking news.

My doctor never tells me anything, just we'll try again, its ovaries, every month is different... He is a very good doctor with very bad communication. I know multiple people who went to him and got pregnant at the first try. He didn't diagnose me with anything. But, from what I understand I have DOR (diminished ovarian reserve) and we are completely devastated. We cried all day yesterday, thinking it will never work and we'll never be parents. I dont know what to do, feel completely lost. Even if we try IVF again, or attempt, what if it will be the same. What if my body will never be ready or wont grow follicles. I can't take the pain anymore. I feel like I should accept that I will never have a child of my own. Has any of you went through the same thing? Were you successful with IVF? Did you do anything differently? any supplements or alternative medicine? Please help.

The clot he called an SCH today which is scary but still small enough he's not concerned today. I will feel better when it goes away because those are not such great things to have especially throughout the pregnancy.

@llky this is definitely a good place for you and I would probably spend some time reading through this thread if you have the chance. you'll see many women on here that have had DOR and quite a few of them have had success since this thread was started back in 2015. I popped on here in 2016 and I know I had so many questions about having low AMH that just reading through people's past experiences and what they went through definitely helped me when I first started as well.

Can you see my signature? I've done seven IUIS and 8 IVF cycles and I'm all OOP so I get it!!! I'm also old now AMA so I had to keep trucking along!!

im surprised with 7 AFC they cancelled u unless it's due to the high FSH? have you tried any priming?? I kno this process is scary but remember it's quality over quantity!!! After I had a MC I had to do pgs testing. On cycle I sent 6 for testing and another I sent 3 for testing and both times I got 2 normies back, so u see more doesn't always mean a thing!!! Trust me of cried and cried! I did a round and got nothing normal back 2x actually, it's devastating for sure!!! BUT for now until you get some eggs out you don't know what you're really working with.

you spent 6k without an ER? Hmmm that is a lot!! I've had a cycle cancelled as microdose lupron gave me disappearing follicles so I had to try something else. I had one follicle and converted to an iui after a full stemming cycle. @emmasemm just went through a cycle with an unfortunate outcome. Even if you just read a few back pages here you will really see you're not alone.

what vitamins are you taking? Try acupuncture?

@llky I agree with @Hopeful_mom can’t believe your cycle got cx with 7 follicles. You should go see a RE who specializes in DOR. Estrogen priming a week after ovulation can tackle the high FSH. Pls don’t lose hope!!! It’s possible.
I too suffer from low AMH and high FSH. I’m currently doing estrogen priming and waiting for AF which was suppose to happen today. My RE still wants me to go for baseline tmrw and will decide whether to start the cycle tmrw or not. Anyone had a similar experience before?

@ilky- welcome! I gave you my advice on the other thread, but glad you have found us here! We are happy to try to help with any questions. I have not had issues with high FSH, but agree with others that estrogen priming can really help with that! I think if you can get an AFC of 7 again and an FSH of 11 again, its worth trying. I beleive most clinics will start with an FSH of 12/13 or below. AMH isn't perfect, but I think its worth testing. If its decreasing over time quickly, it can be POF, which means time is even more of the essence in treatment. Hope you are able to get some second opinions soon!

@hopeful_mom- glad things are looking good. the SCH is scary.. my friend had one and her OB wasn't concerned, but her RI wanted bedrest since it was larger. I would just try to take it easy as much as you can.

@Hopeful_mom thank you so much, I'll definitely read on the past posts on this thread! They cancelled two IVF cycles with 7 follicles because FSH was high (once 11 and the second 18). My diet is restricted so no gluten, no dairy, no sugar, very minimal carbs, low sugar fruits, etc. I eat pretty healthy, no toxins at home or on products I use, etc. I take prenatal, b complex, b12 with metafolate (I have blood clotting disorder), fish oil, selenium, magnesium, vitamin d and probiotic. All because my natural doctor told me to. I've tried acupuncture went to this highly recommended fertility specialist and paid OOP so much money for months but didn't see any difference. Just a few months ago I tried Mayan abdominal massage therapy and i thought that really helped especially with my periods. So, I'll go back to it and my natural doctor suggested to try Jin Shin Jitsu, not sure if any of you heard it, but, at this point I'll try anything. If money wasn't an issue I Previously I didnt want to do IVF, and trusted my body to heal itself and do the job it's created to do, but now I'm praying IVF will work. Such cruel life.

@adc0417 no my doctor did not suggest anything different than what we have already tried. I asked! I didnt do any priming, started meds on day 3 (follistim 350) and increase it to 450 in few days and added menopur for another 4-5 days. The end result was just 3 follicles grew out of 11. That's why we cancelled it and converted to to IUI, which also failed. My doctor said this is the best protocol for me. other ones will suppress my system further. So, I dont know.... good luck to you!

@llky I would ask your doctor what they think of me be the microdose Lupron, some people had great success with that protocol I did not it was my worst cycle but others have had success. I usually did estrogen priming and the antagonist protocol. Please don't feel discouraged with the IUI not working, it does for some and that's great but unfortunately others first have success with IVF. I almost wish I knew that before hand instead of wasting so many months doing the IUI. I've been with my fertility clinic about two years now so I certainly understand others frustrations in this process.
Acupuncture is super expensive I can't say that it helped but I tried it too and went to a few different places till I found one that I liked. I was taking DHEA, Coq10, and vitamin D, along with my prenatal vitamins.
Congrats on getting through such a restricted diet my hats off to you and I think that's what makes this process really tough, doing all of this for such a long extended period of time. try and hang in there cause you're really just getting started because we have to get you to an actual ER!!

@adc0417- Since I am just doing stims to help my lining grow for the FET, its less/lower drugs than a full IVF. Though we are still doing "only" 300 of follistim to hopefully get a follicle or two to grow! No menopur this time (yet), but we will use ganirelax if needed to delay ovulation and will trigger with HCG.

@adc0417- no worries, I am not sure when you joined us, but perhaps I haven't mentioned my background recently. We did donor eggs in October and our embryos are frozen, so I am doing an FET this cycle. So the only point of the stims is to get a follicle to grow so the lining grows (like a natural cycle with a little help)

@llky welcome, and I'm sorry you find yourself here. Your diet sounds very similar to mine:-/. I have also maxed out on paying for acupuncture, not sure I'm going to go anymore. I'm going to also say talking to your RE about Estrogen priming is a really good idea. I have high FSH and the Estrogen priming suppresses the FSH waaaaay down. If you are getting 3 follicles to grow, even though it's not what other ladies get it only takes 1, so if you can get 3 it's 3 times better than nothing! Your RE is right, each cycle is different so with an AFC of 11 you def might get more to grow in a future cycle. My AFC has rapidly declined and I am now having a situation where follicles look mature in size and many don't contain mature eggs which is super frustrating so it's always a gamble. I have seen all sorts of miracles with low AMH ladies especially lately so we have to keep the hope alive!!! We are so much stronger than we know.

AFM estrace 3X a day to see what's up after I get AF...hoping to start a stim cycle. Completely convinced the 3 untested embabies I have are likely no good because I had been taking folic acid and not folate at that point cuz I hadn't found out about those 2 MTHFR gene mutations I have yet so I just want one more retrieval. I've got one of these corpus luteum cysts on my left side now! I mean....my poor body is like over it. I'm trying to motivate myself to start on this gluten free dairy free pumpkin pie for tomorrow but I'm paralyzed watching Hallmark Christmas movies on this glorious day off from work I have! Hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving. This will be my first sisters babies first Thanksgiving. I will do my best not to sob all over that baby at the table;)

@hopefuljj I had this diet for a few years already, so I know it doesn't add any value to my TTC. Although, it might help someone who didn't have a healthier diet. I talked to my nurse about the estrogen priming and she said the my doctor doesnt do that, but she will have him call me today. I said I know women who had more success when they did this protocol and she was surprised. So, we'll see what kind of explanation my doctor will give (if any).
Oh, I've tried a gluten/dairy free pumpkin pie and it was sooo good. I should make one this week

Ladies It's been a day, my brown spotting turned to red so u can imagine the heart attack I was having!! Luckily the dr agreed to see me before leaving for the day! Thank g-d pnut is looking good and strong but I'm a mess

The SCH is still the same size so I don't get it as he assumes that's where the bleeding is coming from...I thought it would've shrunk a lil.

@hopefuljj- awww no more cysts!! Get it together body!! I don't think the mutation would make the embryos bad? My understanding is that folic acid/folate is important for fetus development, so it would just be important for you to have the folate when you transfer them? I hope when you get AF all those cysts are gone and you can start a cycle! Hopefully it comes soon so you can squeeze one in before the holidays?!

I think you should just take it easy... no lifting anything and not to much activity.

AFM- Had monitoring this morning and no follies above 10mm yet and the lining is only starting to thicken. I guess I wouldn't expect more than that with only 3 nights of stims and I was still spotting through Tuesday. So I'm ok with this as long as we can get a follie to grow. I feel like my estorgen is rising and some aching in my ovaries, so I think it took a few days for them to wake up after all the BC for the last 5 months.

@JamieH2000 yes, it’s a low dose stim cycle. At first, I too was skeptical but my RE says that he has seen good results with this protocol for pts with DOR. So let’s see....keeping my FX

@adc0417- How is the stimming going?!

AFM- Had monitoring this morning and had 3 follies at 12,12, 10mm. Lining was almost 7 and trilinear. I feel like the follies are growing slow since I was so suppressed before this, but I think its ok since hopefully it will give the lining more time to thicken up. I feel like things are going alright... but starting to get anxious since we still need to get the lining there, get a mature follie to trigger, and then check that my progesterone rises after trigger. Feels like alot of steps where something can still go wrong

I think I'm just a little traumatized after being cancelled 4 days before my transfer last month...

@jamieh2000 it’s just a few small steps more. One at a time and you will get there. And like you say, with the suppression, actually that’s great progress. In fact if I got that progress in a retrieval cycle I’d be happy!!!

@ilky my RE also doesn’t like to do priming or suppression with DOR patients. I think they’re really nervous to over suppress and never get things started again.

@adc0417 hope the low does is going well so far. What doses of which brands of which meds are you on?

@hopefuljj can’t believe the cysts are threatening to hold things up! Like @jamieh2000 said I understand the folate topic is from the point of implantation onwards that it really matters. So as long as you’ve switched now you should be good.

@hopeful_mom you continue to be my inspiration right now. Every time I have a moment when I think it’s never going to happen, then I remind myself about all your early disastrous cycles and then look at your US pics that you share with us and tell myself to get a grip and woman-up. AFM Well it feels like much longer than 1.5 weeks ago since the cycle crashed and burned. Last week i was away on an important business trip which kept me physically busy, but emotionally I’m definitely fragile. I had not anticipated the emotional impact of having nothing fertilize. Logically I thought to myself there are many times in the last 2.5 years where nothing has fertilized in my tubes, and I was always ok. But of course you still live with 2 weeks of hope before you know it didn’t work. And I obviously need the hopeful times. This “nothing” time is like torture. Hence I took a bit of a break on here. Add in the fact that I have what we assume is mild OHSS (saw my general practitioner today and she ran some labs to check it’s coming in the right direction) as I needed to see a doctor last week to get some meds to reduce fluid retention and be able to walk upstairs and breathe at the same time. I mean who gets OHSS with only 3 follies and 1 retrieved???

We have the WTF appointment on 8th Dec so still another 1.5 weeks to wait, but there was no point rushing as with the closing period over Xmas we can’t fit in a cycle in December. I want to fight for either E-priming or MDL-Flare - I know they can be brilliant or a disaster for us, but if we stick to a “safe”cycle we also could get 1 or 0 again so we feel like we don’t have much to lose. Except the risk that I never ovulate alone again... which is kind of a biggie. I will also ask for an HSG if possible before we cycle again as I want to know if there is anything else - either tubes issues which would mean no point trying alone, or endo which could affect implantation (and egg quality potentially). I don’t have symptoms, but my mother, sister and both grandmothers have/had it.
Anything else you can think of for me to ask about please shout up. I’m open to all ideas.

However we are really restricted here in Germany - non HGH, no DHEA, no freezing past 2pn stage and no PGS testing for example. If this cycle doesn’t work then I am researching other clinics in a Europe where they can use all drugs and methods to move to afterwards. I looked at the US but with the travel times, here in Europe might be more practical. I think DOR is difficult enough, but here the rules mean you try to do it with another hand tied behind your back.

@emmasemm- good to hear from you and I totally get needing a break. I have done that a few times in the past 1.5 years. The limbo time, waiting for a cycle, is the WORST, so I agree with you on that. Have you had a saline sono or hysterscopy to check your lining? I think its good to check for polyps since mine never showed on a regular U/S and can effect implantation once you get your embryo. I would maybe do those over an HSG, unless you want to confirm open tubes for trying naturally. Endo won't likely show on any of those tests... normally only a laproscopy confirms it unless its super bad.. then sometimes they can see it on ultrasounds. Endo could be the cause of your DOR, but I am not sure removing it will really help.I feel like there is very mixed info on the effects endo has. I think trying MDL or priming is a good step. It may not work, but maybe it will! Also, I get all Germany's restrictions, but I find that crazy that they can't freeze past 2 days! I feel like so many people with lots of embryos must have so many frozen! i don't really get that... I'll keep thinking and let you know if I think of anything else.
