Random week of 10/16

Re: Random week of 10/16

  • I found out at our prenatal class that the hospital I'll be delivering at just changed their procedures, and will most likely send us to a semi-private room after recovery, and DH is not allowed to spend the night as there will obviously be another lady in there. Um, ex-squeeze-me? I just pushed out our brand new baby and he can't stay with us? Plus, he gets to go home and sleep in our bed and get a nice rest when I'm exhausted and sleeping in a hospital. Hell no. Not very baby or family-oriented. I'm going to be pushing for a private room with all I have.

WTAF. I live in rural Oklahoma and We event have private rooms. You labor, deliver, and recover in the same room. I’d switch. This is 2018.

well, it will be when babies get here.

  • Our hospital gives you a semi private but you can pay extra for a private. With DS#2 there were no private left even though I requested months in advance and so I was in a semi private and it was hell.

Roommate#1 was on thier second night in the hospital. They were trying to sleep train the baby so it cried all night and they would say things like "she must be just gassy, we only are feeding her every four hours and it's only been two so she'll just have to wait". When they finally gave the baby food it was formula straight from the fridge because they didn't want to "spoil" the baby with warm milk.

The next day those people left and another last moved in who had her while community there. Like seriously ten visitors at a time and they kept hogging the shared bathroom. Post partum is a messy time and it was uncomfortable fighting over the bathroom with this person's male guests.

I got discharged early because I couldn't take it

  • Oh hell no @sabriel1that sounds awful!
I would absolutely switch hospitals. I didn’t like having a ton of visitors myself Inwould not do well dealing with other people’s visitors

our hospital has all private rooms with beds for the dads. They even have they showers with a bench and water fall style faucet. It was so relaxing
  • I responded to the warning I received for my post in June, so if I get booted, thats why.
  • I was seriously considering switching as I heard this, but then she started talking about the other hospital in the area: For low risk, they get a private throughout and just stay in the same room, but for high risk (which I'd be classified as), it would be the same thing. You may or may not get a private room after delivery.

The problem is that my hospital is going to be opening a brand new swanky hospital next year (after I give birth of course) and every room will be private there. In the meantime, they're changing their process to get staff used to it and this is the result.

    Noooooo!!!!!
  • I'm at the Chris Stapleton concert.  I'm excited but staying awake is going to be a challenge.  He hasn't come on stage yet and it's almost my bedtime
  • @chucksmom15 I hope you had an amazing time at the concert!  That would be an awesome one.  And congrats on the good US.
  • DS was up from 12:30 on last night. Finally at 3:30, I handed him over to DH and went to bed.  Allergies are dumb and I have a headache.  Happy Friday.
  • My belly button is a half innie, half outie.  I'm not impressed.

    Is it a flatie?

    Is it a flatie?
No, that would be better.  The top is starting to stick out, but the bottom is still fully in.  It is really weird and not cute!   :s

This is honestly one of my randomest fears. It completely horrifies me that my innie may suddenly become an outie.

  • My innie is going to be an outie any day now.  Every morning I stick my finger in my belly button and it's getting smaller and smaller.  So sad
  • Baby #3 here and all times my former innie completely turned inside out. I’m not even phased this time.

I had to LOL at the idea of you doing this every morning. My innie is so deep, I don’t think this is going to happen to me. I do, however, have a little scar left from a navel ring I removed 10 years ago. I’m afraid of what the hole is going to look like once my belly gets bigger. TBH, that’s why I took it out in the first place.
  • Mine is still a deep innie, so my bump has a giant dent in it and that's why I think I just look fat and not pregnant. I want it to at least flatten out so the dent fills in!

  • Mine is normally a deep innie.  With DD1 it stayed an innie.  With my twins, I got the outie.  This is just weird.  Yeah, I stick my finger in there too.  I push it in and it pops back out.  Geez, the weird things our bodies do!
  • Mine is normally a deep innie but it's slowly coming out. DH poked it the other day and I got mad, saying "Don't encourage it!" He thought that was funny, but I was being completely serious.
  • We have my 3 year old nephew again this weekend. He's been here about 2 hours and I'm already tired.
  • @babybro218 my belly button went completely flat with my first, and is already an outtie with my second.  Thankfully, nothing weird happened with the hole/scar from my navel ring (seriously, why were those so damn cool when I was 19)? During pregnancy and postpartum, it still just looked like a small hole/scar.
  • My belly button still looks like a cat anus. And it never popped with DD. It's really creepy.
I could not think of who it was that called their belly button a cat anus (so I am glad you posted again :D )  When I look at my belly button, I see a cat anus now...so thanks for that   :p

Is it weird I want you to post a picture of this?
    I am also oddly curious.

Mine has two stretch mark scars from it going upwards like TV antennas. My sister's does, too.
  • Our boys are the same size @meatballs37!!  Our LO measured 1 pound 9 ounces at our MFM appointment yesterday as well!!  Grow baby A grow!!
  • Amazon registry you can see who bought what. Wtf. That’s a bad feature.
  • @meatballs37 That's hilarious and also, accurate. :D  So glad to hear your meatball is doing well.
  • DD2 woke up everybody hour last night.
  • 1- I sent DH and DD to Costco and the grocery store so I could drink my coffee and baileys in peace (yup I had baileys because we were out of coffee creamer)

2- we're watching the rams-cardinals game and I could watch the rams coach all.day.long *drool*

3- we have a wedding to go to today, yup on a Sunday because it's cheaper *eyeroll*. We are skipping the ceremony so DD and I can nap. Ceremony is at 2 which is her nap tone, it's across the city and there isn't enough time between ceremony and reception for her to get much of a nap in

  • We went to buy a stove today and it was a fail. Buying local is important to us, so stopped at a family store. An older lady yelled at DS for touching the knobs on the stove, then complained that he was leaving fingerprints everywhere. We left and went to Lowe’s. After standing around for 30 mins without one person offering to help us, we left. Now I’m crabby bc we are hosting a family dinner next weekend and I have 1 working burner.
  • @magnolia305 wow. I would have told the lady off at the family store. Maybe try doing a main dish that gets baked? Like a casserole or a roast.
