I didn't know there was a podcast with Suzie. I love Suzie! I'll have to check it out. Has Sarah had a kid yet?
Also, it's totally fine if you hate V and love Bananas. That's not something I'm gonna fight to the death over. I don't know any of them in person and to be totally honest, I think it's insane so many are even doing it. Like....dont you people need a real job?!
Camilla. What a waste of life. She's a human dumpster fire and I super dislike her. That bs with Leroy....i was all sorts of yelling at my tv.
I feel like the end will just BAM come out of no where. They can't keep the season going forever so it will probably feel harried and unsatisfying.
Laughing about moving on to weekly instead of ticker change threads when Friday's gets started by a name I don't recognize.
I think there are two people besides myself who are due on a Thursday, and I don't recognize either of them at the moment. Doesn't mean I won't, but the random bump pictures all blur together.
My FFFC is IDK how you guys know who's a driveby and who isn't. When I read posts I rarely process SNs and I sure don't remember who posted in the intros and who didn't.
Sometimes it isn't just the s/n that can show its a driveby, but the content or the wording. An active member or active lurker would/should know that we don't do skull or nub theories. Or they'd know that a random "look at me" type of post whether it has a question or a statement that is just about them is normally side eyed. Or the repetitive "my symptoms come and go, am I ok" type of posts that are answered by opening a number of established threads.
@tincupchalice I'm so glad you asked, because I was also wondering. @suchaglencoco thanks for answering. My confession is that I'm also unclear by the drive-by definition. If people are going back and forth and having a conversation on here is it rude to chime in? Will I be a "drive-by" in their conversations? I'm getting used to doing more than just reading the posts and I'd like to become a more active contributor without pissing anyone off.
@cups4 oops. Today is one of the first days I feel decent. I'm not throwing up and I'm not so nauseated I can barely look at my phone for extended periods of time. I know we are supposed to participate and I haven't been fully committed. I felt like I waited an appropriate amount of time for someone to start the Friday ticker change thread and I got excited to finally post something. Unfortunately I'm unable to look at my phone while at work. Nature of the job. I don't want to feel like I have to make excuses for why my screen name wasn't recognized. I'm trying here. I almost feel like I'm damned if I don't and damned if I do. I think this first trimester is hard on all of us in different ways. I'll make more of an effort to pop in and say hi! Thanks for hearing me out.

I define a drive by as someone who super rarely posts, and generally makes it all about them when they do. If you start posting within a board and keep conversing without dropping and running you're not a drive by. Tbh we haven't had a lot of drive bys in the daily type posts, but the long running ones are full of drop and run posts, and we get lots of "dear diary" type new boards discussing topics we're discussing in other boards. That's how you can identify that type of drive by. The only time I get annoyed with that type of post is if someone is snippy when you tell them where that would be appropriate to post.
Im starting to question if I'm coming across like I don't want people joining our group. I don't want that. I'm usually good about following and enforcing rules, but I do see where that can be perceived as a turn off to some people.
I straddle the line on the board organization issue. I don't want a total chaotic board like BC or whatever because yes, we will end up with a thousand "omg my nausea slightly reduced today is that normal??" threads. But some of the set topics are pretty broad so you end up not having an easily followed conversation. Like, it would be hard to have a conversation about what nausea cures work in the symptoms thread because it would get broken up by the people jumping in to list their symptoms, so I don't see an issue with a discrete discussion topic like that being a separate thread even though it COULD fit in the symptoms thread. Or someone wanting to ask what people's favourite belly band brand is, instead of having to include it in the general maternity clothes thread.
@sandbar517 I like the idea of a daily check in thread! I wouldn't mind seeing how other people are doing who don't share my ticker change day.
This exactly!!!! I'm fine with structure. But uber rigidity creates run-on threads that are hard to keep up with. I'd be totally down with more specific threads. My last bmb was that way. It had structure but fluidity.
Confession - I never introduced myself. And if I read that post, I only look for the drama parts.
This is maybe more of an UO than a confession, but I feel like this board is so slow it doesn't really matter if there are drive-bys or one off posts. At least its something to look at.
I also haven't heard any new Taylor Swift songs.
Right?! I actually hate the rigidity of this board. I hate having to scroll through endless pages of posts on a vague thread to find something to reply to or relate to. I don't have time to read everything so then I just stay away from entire threads that are too huge. I'm all for structure, but I get annoyed by the thread police. This board is slow, who cares?
My confession... I'm dreading telling my in-laws about this pregnancy. They are great people, but I'm worried my mil is going to smother us. She got super needy with Audri- needing to come see us all the time, demanding to spend the night. I hate overnight visitors but she lives an hour and a half away so she feels like she needs to make a few days out of her visits. I feel like I have to entertain her and it's more work to have her help than to not. And she Facebook friended me and weirdly comments on all my stuff now. Ugh!!
So you want us to care about you, and have discussions with you, but you don't feel it necessary to see what we've been discussing about a certain topic? Or catching up with us to effective get to know us? If you are looking for a one sided conversation I'd suggest a blog. Some people even make money off of those, I hear.
I can understand not wanting to read through 600+ comments in the intro thread, but not reading anything at all is rude imo. We've set up guidelines that work, and have worked for thousands of women on this forum before us, so why try to reinvent the wheel? I use the bump because I'm not into bothering with chaos on the regular, and enjoy conversations with intelligent women. You don't find that on other pregnancy forums, and part of why is their lack of rigidity.
You are missing my point. You're going a little overboard assuming I don't want to get to know people. I want to engage with other members. That's why I'm here. I find the umbrella threads don't lend themselves to be easy to follow if you can't be on the board constantly. The format is restrictive. I'd like to engage in the topics that are relevant or meaningful to me. My last bmb here on the bump had structure but fluidity. Did we like drive bys? No. Did they upset me? No. I don't have time in my day to care about policing others on a public forum.
And another confession: I hate starting new threads. I also hate it when it's like noon EST and no one else has, so I just do it. No one owns the privilege of starting a board like a Ticker Change, and it doesn't personally bother me to see a newer person start it. It seems like a good way to get started to me, because it indicates that you know enough to do the thing without instruction... /shrugs/
@ivyvines6 I hate starting them too. I think it's because I'm still more of a lurker (2 years ttc) that it feels weird to actually post something.
I noticed earlier that two threads I would participate in were not posted this week, but of course now it's past the designated days. NBD.
@meggycleary Yep! Although it looks like the weekly ticker change might change to a weekly check-in with those in the same week as you. Both are fine with me
@dee_ao, to me a driveby is someone that hasn't participated at all, yet creates their own "look at me post" and then doesn't come back. Or they do come back, but still don't participate and make yet another post about themselves. Orrrr they have intro'd weeks ago and then come back with a "whoa is me"/"pay attention to me" post. The only time I don't really side eye is if someone comes back with bad findings on an u/s, like a kidney issue or markers being off or something really bad that they're looking for a positive story to hold on to. At that point, I cannot imagine the panic the woman must be feeling and if anyone has anything to say that'll help her out, even for a moment, I'm all about it.
I get we all live different lives and have different abilities to be on TB. As long as someone is showing support or participating when they can, they're cool with me. I just side eye women that only want their questions answered or for us to "awww" over their u/s.
If you see some people having a conversation and want to chime in, do it! Get in on the fun or the debate or the craziness. Chiming in will help build up the community and create more conversation.
Again, this is all my opinions derived from my experience.

@thedawkterswife, I can of see it like us having our own football teams. We appreciate the rivalries, but cheer for our faves. There is no way the "careers" like Bananas, Camilla, Cara Maria have jobs. There is just nonway. They're always on these shows or training. I do know West has been smart with his money and does have a few businesses himself. I loathe Jemmye. I always thought she just rode around on Knight's shoulders because people loved him. I think she has a big mouth and never backs it up. I used to really like Camilla, but she had gotten so rotten over the years that it's hard to watch her.
@ivyvines6 I don't think you are sending the wrong message. It seems like you girls are just trying to work out all the kinks in this thread and I'm grateful that there are so many people who actually pay such close attention to the livelihood of this board. I must admit it is a bit intimidating at first but in retrospect it's just such a nice thing to have. My mom never had a community like this and her mom before her. A lot of these posts are really empowering and ease some concerns that one might have.
As far as the poll goes I'm really unsure of what needs to be the permanent protocol. I like the weekly ticker but I can definitely see the benefits of the daily. With that being said I can also see why it would be too redundant. I might have to sit on that one a little more to really give a solid opinion.
FFFC- if the Dodgers make it to the World Series, we are pulling money out of our savings to go to game. Totally irresponsible, but I don’t care.
I'd love to go to a game to root for my Cubbies!!!! But seriously have fun if you get to go!
SO was pissed the Indians lost. Of course if the Bills make the play offs we'll be doing that same thing. But it's the Bills so...
Stuck in a box...... I feel you! I'm a Bears fan so it's basically hopeless thinking they'll ever be good. And us Cubs fans are living in bliss right now after a century of suck.
My comment was more that most people here seemed to be saying they wanted to get rid of ticker days. I actually am on Thursday, too but feel eh about posting on them. Glad you're feeling better!
@ivyvines6@cups4@meggycleary I also like the idea of the daily updates! I'm not sure I want to see the ticker changes go away though? The people in my Wednesday ticker are the ones I've gotten to know best so far and I think I'd miss seeing their updates now that I'm used to it. I actually really like that it's a small more exclusive group to get to know in the midst of trying to learn so many! But I agree that a 9 weeks thread could be really nice and more daily ones for interaction. I guess I just want to make sure the ticker changes don't go away

I don't care about ticker day changes. I did them with my first, but I'm over it by my third. Half the time I don't remember what week I am, much less what day I change on. Poor third child.
@suchaglencoco See, I like the goats like Aneesa, Jemmye, and Nicole. It just gets under people's skin that they are there so long and are totally worthless....I love that ish.
I think Bananas has made his life off of public appearances and he had his own clothing line. It's so self-serving it makes me loathe him. Good luck to any girl who thinks they want to be with him.
I love Wes. He is BSC but also has a good head on his shoulders. Abe, too. It was BS how Cara Maria dicked him over. Poor guy.
I would like to see Hunter and CT and Derrick in the final. Pretty apathetic about any of the girls.
I'm a newbie to boards like this as well as this being my first pregnancy. I tend to do a fair bit of lurking not wanting to interrupt a thread that seems in full swing. So nice to know that it's okay to chime in.
@thedawkterswife, oh man Abe is a psychopath. And all of those tattoos? Too much! I do love Derrick. He's always been level headed. I'm also sick of Tony and his "I'm doing this for my daughters" speeches.

Not sure if you realize this, but your last sentence comes across as very “holier than thou” to anyone who does put effort into trying to keep some sense of organization on this board. I think it’s nice that people care; you don’t have to put them down for it.
Super late to the party and a lot to say so for pretty much the first time during this pregnancy I am on my desktop so that i can reference all the posts in one longer post lol. here goes:
I agree on posting check ins by how far along you are-makes a lot of sense based on the types of symptoms and appointment/situations you will be encountering and a bit more organized.
I admit I did the same on the losses, I want to send love to everyone but if I dont recognize you I am def looking you up-oh you havent posed in a month?
@suchaglencoco, @thedawkterswife@abhphilly, @fraufarbissina I have watched every single episode of the Challenge from the first one, and I am talking RR v RW. OBSESSED. I have a love hate with Johnny- He screws people over ALL the time, how he reacted to Sara sending him home was BS and totally hypocritical -its a game and she had to do what she had to do, and he does the same thing ALL the time. Then taking the money from her when she was a huge part of why he won... shady. BUT he is great at the game, I love that he plays both physically and psychological. I have never been a fan of Vanessa. Also, I used to like Camilla but she is also one of those people who would screw you over given the chance, but cant handle it when its done to her, and plus also shes generally a bit nuts. Jemmye annoys me and I feel like she is always in need of a shower.... just me? CT=ALL TIME FAVORITE
Finally, i give love tits to almost every post. If I didnt, its bc the stupid mobile app dropped me down to the bottom and I missed you coming back up, I was skimming and didnt even realize I didnt like it, or I REALLY disagreed with what you said.

@sharkmama39@suchaglencoco@thedawkterswife@abhphilly@fraufarbissina I love the challenge!! I can get dh to watch it bc he likes the challenges and eliminations. He says it's almost like watching sports. I love Ct. He gets an extra vote being a dad and having a dad bod and still winning! I was so mad last week. You shouldn't be able to send ppl to the bs redemption house without losing an elimination. I also love Jenna. I realize she's not a rocket scientist, but she does well and doesn't usually get into the drama (until now). Will they ever stop doing the redemption house? Who would you love to see run the final? I would love to see all the worst competitors run it. I think it would be hilarious. Corey was the worst in the final!
With the sports talk I thought of a FFFC... I hate the MSU and UofM rivalry thing (a big thing in Michigan). I went to MSU and don't care for sports. UofM is an awesome school and I'd be thrilled if my kids went to either school. What ticks me off is when a rivalry game day is coming up (I never watch) and a Super Fan who knows where I went to school wants to get into a "friendly" competition convo. I always just want to say "oh, I don't play. Do you?" followed by long blank stare.
I like the idea of a week based Ticker Change.
We don't have broadcast/cable tv bc we are cheapskates so the Challenge show escapes my understanding but I'm jealous since a lot of you seem to enjoy it! Damn, I would kill to binge watch some Murder, She Wrote and House Hunters.
Lurkers are fine to me if it's friendly and helpful... when it's not so much either, I'm not a fan.
I stink at the GTKY questions. Poor, poor Sundays. Confession numero dos: I purposely never started the AMA thread on Sunday bc I started the Sunday Ticker and was totally daunted at the idea of creating another GTKY question. Fact. And I sometimes stole the GTKY from another thread. wow, this feels freeing!

We don't have cable either but I use the internet browser app on the smart TV and login to MTV.com to watch The Challenge. It's glitchy and usually buffers a bunch of times but I can't live without it!!

I'll go check out the poll thread. I like any idea that'll help get the board moving. I lurk a bit but try to jump in when I can.
I've never seen The Challenge, but now I might need to find a way to watch it because you've piqued my interest.
Also not a fan of the new tswift songs.
