Re: Weekly Randoms 10.1

  • So I started having these strange dreams. One dream where a man pulled a gun on me in the middle of traffick broad daylight. ☹ am I the only one experiencing these hectic NIGHTMARES, I'm very superstitious.
Having vivid dreams during pregnancy is quite normal.

  • @meatballs37 I used to be one of the excited for ultrasounds and laughing smiling through them people. After DS's pregnancy and the dozen or more ultrasounds we had to do, I definitely am different.

We have our Level 2 A/S in 2 weeks and I just feel anxious. I think I will likely end up crying if everything is okay or if they find something...

hoping your scan goes smoothly! I think the waiting for the next appointment part is the hardest.

  • Wow I'm mostly gone for 2 days and missed so much!

DH wasn't in town for my AS but my mom came and we were joking around. I wanted someone with me because I was nervous and tend to joke around to cope. DH is generally jovial (main reason I locked him down lol, since I tend to be more serious), so if he were there he'd probably have been chatty and happy unless we were told there was something wrong.

Happy for the good ASs so far, and sending positive vibes for the ASs that require follow ups and monitoring.
  • @simplyelainee I haven't really had vivid dreams yet with this pregnancy but with my last one they started towards the end and only got worse after that. I have a reoccurring dream of DD falling off the bed every couple of months/me rolling on top of her but it's a different atmosphere each time. The worst one was around the 7 or 8 month mark I punched my Husband in the groin because I dreamt that she was falling off the bed head first even though she doesn't sleep in the bed with us. I then had it happen around 11 months and I punched the wall. I'm not trying to scare you but it's one of those things I wish someone would've warned me about!
  • So just curious: did you and you significant others joke or laugh or seem happy in the US visits? Both with my NT Scan and AS the techs seemed surprised that DH and I were in great moods and joking with eachother, happy and laughing. The AS tech said it was great and made her day because everyone was always so quiet and serious, even when it was good news. I was just wondering if DH and I were just odd.
I use to be very happy and celebratory at a/s u/s but after i founds out my 5th pregnancy the baby was very sick I've been serious at all my scans because I'm legit scared to death something could be wrong.  With my 6th pregnancy i was sent to high risk because of that and they did lots of extra tests and scans, and said my dd would have a club foot  (She does not) but I'm still always really worried until i get the all clear.

I'm trying to move up my AS or possibly just make another appointment. I think I need to start taking some kind of anxiety medicine. I'd started doing a lot better but now I'm just a wreck and hardly sleep.

ETA: update they had a spot open and moved me to Friday. I figured if have to make a separate appointment for sure. I'm hoping this helps.

@sarafoley98 I hope they figure out something to help you. I had pregnancy depression with my first so I know the anxiety sucks.

    eta: spelling
  • Yeah I get terrible anxiety at my A/S as I am very aware that there can be bad news at these appointments. I've actually had to take a break and throw up during it for 3 out of 5 of my pregnancies.

Random but wtf with the HDBD hijacker

  • I have some mild anxiety for every appointment and the A/S definitely brings it out the most. I am fortunate that I have never had tough results and my heart goes out to you that have. I just get nervous over the possibility of something being wrong. I'm a STM and for this A/S DD was pretty sick so DH stayed home and I went alone which made it much harder for me. I had a student tech and it took over 2 hours. The teacher tech then came in and took some more pictures. Then they left the room and the teacher came back in to take more pictures of the heart. It caused me a lot of stress but everything with DS is fine. I am definitely more cheerful once it's all over and results are good.

  • @SarahFoley725 I am glad you got you A/S moved up.  Anxiety is hard--I hope you get some relief on Friday.  I'll be thinking of you!
  • @SunflowerMama428 @magnolia305 Thanks y'all. We have a lot of outside stressors that I can't control. I thought I'd be able to manage things forever but why put myself through all of this? I'm hoping things get better once some of these issues resolve themselves but in the mean time I'll take the help.
  • STM's any tips on how to get a 2yr old to play more independently? We already do a toy rotation and when she asks me to play with her I try to make sure she is guiding the play and im not playing for her.
  • @meatballs37 thanks for the link. I've been thinking about you. Is a cerclage an option at this point if there cervix gets too short or is this too early or late for that or is this generally done in only Singleton pregnancies?

  • I called my midwife about severe migraines. I had them with my first so I didnt think it was a big deal. Now she is making me go to labor and delivery...is this over kill? I don’t want to sound ungrateful but DS is being so clingy and of all days wants me home. He’s been cuddling with me and singing twinkle twinkle while playing with my hair because mama is sick. He’s such a little sweetheart
  • @meatballs37 your blog may have made me a little teary. You and your boys will definitely be in my prayers. I wish that all that wasn’t hitting you at once. I’m glad you found an outlet.

@meatballs37 I am so bad about keeping up with blogs but I will do my best. Thank you for sharing and so many hugs.

ETA: those meatballs at the top are SO cute.

@SunflowerMama428 I'm always a better safe than sorry kind of person. It sucks they're sending you in over something you experienced last time though.
  • @meatballs37 Thank you for sharing your story. I will be sending you and your boys (and your family in general) positive thoughts and prayers.  It sounds like you have a great team of doctors taking care of you guys.

Drawing and puzzles were fun ones. Also, if you do play dough or building blocks. Challenge them to surprise you by making something and it will start getting them used to doing something on their own.
  • @meatballs37 your blog honest and beautiful! I really enjoy your writing style, thanks for sharing!
@3plus1equals4 thanks for the "surprise me suggestion" im going to try that out today!

I lean more towards being quiet. I watch for certain measurements. Since they're not really allowed to say anything, even if they do find soft or hard markers/findings, so I tend to be more observant and cautiously optimistic due to my history. This time, once the tech was done with measurements, AFI, observing the heart chambers, lateral brain ventricles, placenta function, the umbilical cord placement and vessels, kidneys, etc., and the dates all corresponded with where he should be according to his GA, I felt more relaxed. That's when she moved on to taking pictures and we laughed at his movements and hand signs. I see a peri for all major ultrasounds. It definitely feels more serious at times.

In my case it isn't. I didn't post why on my blog because I'm sure a co-worker or two might read it. I had a Leep procedure done in my 20's and because of that. My MFM won't do one on me. Which is probably also why my cervix is shortening. I didn't have this issue with DD though.

  • @meatballs37  I'm glad you shared. I hope to remember to keep checking in, but feel free to poke us every one in a while when you update. Sending prayers your way often!
  • @meatballs37 I’m so sorry to hear all of the not so great news you’ve received, but hopefully all will be well and you will end up with two happy, healthy baby boys! I will be praying for you all and especially that the best rest isn’t too hard on you, I know that must be rough when you already have a little one. God bless you and your beautiful growing family! ❤️
  • @meatballs37 oh that's too bad, though I just read that a cerclage is not really that effective in anything other than a single pregnancy. This must be so incredibly emotional for you. Just stay on bed rest and try to keep those little meatballs cooking as long as possible. I'll be thinking of you for your next appointment

  • I normally wouldn't post this on a public forum, but I figured, if you are the praying type and like reading pregnancy blogs. I started one while I am on bedrest and we could use any extra prayers sent our way. Here is the link.

I will probably delete the link in a day or so.
Your blog made me cry!!  Prayers for you guys!  Your family is adorable BTW!!

  • @rainafire77 - I didn't take it that way at all. There's a definite range of normal feelings and emotions. I usually feel less anxiety during early u/s, but it changes as the pregnancy progresses as that's when problems were discovered in two of my past pregnancies that led to extra monitoring in subsequent pregnancies.

  • @rainafire77 I didn’t take your post that way. Everyone is going through different experiences and the fact that you got good news and were happy should be celebrated! We were the same way for mine and especially after reading some of the experiences on here I’m so thankful for that! ❤️ praying for everyone who didn’t get the news they were hoping for.
  • @meatballs37 looking forward to reading and following your blog.  Great idea for yourself as an outlet while on bedrest.  I, too, had a LEEP in my 20s and have my cervix monitored regularly as a result (it also resulted in a pre-term delivery with my last pregnancy).  Hugs to you and your family.
  • @rainafire77 Your question was fine! One of the reasons I love this forum is that we all have different experiences that shape how we view things and it's great to get everyone's perspective because it helps shape mine.

  • @rainafire77 As a FTM and not being the most involved friend when friends were pregnant... I found your question eye opening cuz of all the answers! It's kinda interesting how different AS and AS technicians/doctors/nurses are, too, and I feel it helps me prepare for what's "normal behavior" on both their part and even my own, if there's such a thing as "normal" lol.

@meatballs37 Thank you for sharing the blog. You guys are so cute, btw!
  • @rainafire77 I don't think any of us had an issue with the question :)
