Last time we announced on social media with a pic of the ultrasound (with a bow added to it) captioned 'no silent nights for us this Christmas, baby girl due December '14'
Not sure what we'll do this time around. I like the idea of not announcing... but we're also going to Disney in November and I like the idea of doing an announcement there.... decisions.
Dh and I took a selfie last night with a shirt that says "mama bear". We printed out a few copies, put them in frames, and mailed them to our parents and siblings with no note or explanation lol. When DH's parents got pregnant with him, they did something similar, I think they took a picture of her belly, and then mailed it to family members. We're hoping they'll arrive Monday and we start getting some calls!
I'm not announcing on social media, but I'm announcing to my family during Thanksgiving and to my in laws in Christmas, when we see them. It's gonna be a while and a wait but at least I have some peace of mind everything should be okay (knock on wood) by the time those holidays roll around (estimated 16w and 21w ish).

DH can't keep a secret to save his life, so after the first prenatal appointment I let him post this. The book is from my library: Wife and I would like to take this time to make an official announcement. We are as of right now 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant with our 2nd child. She or he is due on May 3rd. We had our first prenatal appointment this past Monday. Unfortunately we were unable to get any pictures of the baby but we were able to see how things are going. Baby has a heartbeat of 170 beats per minute and was wiggling a decent amount during the short time we had. Baby's developing right on track so far.

We did little gifts for my SO's mom and stepdad. My dad is getting a puzzle that says "the best dad's are promoted to grandpa. Baby G coming May 2018". He's a big puzzle lover so it seemed like the perfect way and he lives across the country from us! in terms of everyone else, I'm wearing this shirt on Thanksgiving and we'll take some pictures!
Hubby and I are torn as to when to tell our parents. Our first appointment/scan isn't until November 10th, so I kind of want to wait until then but I kind of don't. We are thinking of getting our parents a "grandparents est. 2018" frame and putting estimated first picture May 29, 2018. How far along is everyone when they told their parents? I'm a FTM and it's the first grand baby for both sides, so we are over the moon excited but nervous to tell people too. As of right now only my hubby and BFF know.

With my first we told our families around 8wks. This time around, I told a couple close family members at 4wks. If you want to tell before your first scan I’d say make it the people you’d want support from if things don’t work out. There’s really no right or wrong answer, it’s whatever makes sense in your situation.
@AquaPrincess22, my mom and I are very close so she knew almost right away with all 3 of our pregnancies. Tw- losses mentioned Our first loss was around 7 weeks. My mom met me at the hospital because I was bleeding so much I got weak and she worked closer than DH. DH then called and told his mom who was hurt we didn't tell her about the pregnancy before, which I completely understand. Our second pregnancy and loss, we told all 3 sets of parents and our siblings as we did ivf to conceive and they were as anxious as us about it. They were all supportive to us with this loss and it felt better to me that it was out in the open. End TW This pregnancy, both of our mothers know. FIL will get told next weekend when we see him in person. This was a "surprise" pregnancy as it was natural and not through ivf so no one is waiting on news. Our siblings will find out after our 2nd scan next week.
Just do whatever you feel comfortable with. If a loss were to happen, it may be better to have some support, but it's hard to make those phone calls.
We told our families around 6 weeks and lost the pregnancy later that week. We had t told any friends yet. The second time we were going to wait until 12 weeks to tell family and only made it to 8 weeks. Nobody really knows about that loss. Then this ph we through we miscarried at 7 weeks and when we found out we didn’t we ended up telling families.

It just felt weird keeping it a secret after making it past our milestones. Having the family get excited about the pregnancy helped me get excited and more positive. I would have never thought about baby gear and names and wall Colors his early it it weren’t for the encouragement of my family.
First time around my DH and I weren't married yet so I was terrified to tell my mom. I waited until 20 weeks because I was panicked. This time she knew immediately. I knew she would be excited. We haven't been keeping this too much of a secret. I haven't officially announced on social media though. We'll wait for that.
We we plan on doing a Harry Potter nursery so I want that, we want to announce at Halloween so I want the pumpkins. We want the kids involved so I want that. I want to incorporate the fact that this is a rainbow baby.

So I’m really weird in that I like people to know that I’m pregnant but I hate the actual announcement. Don’t ask why, I don’t know. Even telling our parents makes me so nervous. Anyways, so far they are the only ones who know and we had DS (who is 2) tell them. As for a Facebook/whatever announcement...maybe something Christmas or New Years themed as we probably won’t post it there until we know the sex of the baby (that’s what we did last time).
For my first two I did super cute little gifts and made fun Facebook announcements but I have no energy to be clever anymore. The exception being for my kids (4 & 6) We want to do something special for them. They love the movies Storks so I was thinking of having a package sent from the Storks to let them know they had a baby on the way. For everyone else, I am seriously considering just not hiding my growing bump when I hit the second trimester and seeing who has the guts to ask if I am pregnant.
With DD1, there was a lot of drama and we had a scare so people knew and then couldn't keep a secret. With DD2, I told my mom right away and she spilled the beans to some family members. We had a shirt that said "only child expiring October" and no one noticed. When we told them to read the shirt, no one understood.
This time, we're debating between having everyone over for some other celebration and announcing or just letting it come up in conversation.
For people I don't see regularly, I'll email. I'm not up for all the conversations about it. I think we'll get a lot of surprised questions that will hurt me.
My niece and sister in law are both expecting so I’ve been getting a lot of “it’s time for you guys to have another one” comments sooo I’ve been absolutely dying to tell people. It’ll have to wait until this weekend since our appointment is on Friday.
@lincbeesmom I am also dying to tell people but we are holding off until after our first appt at least. I should be about 10 weeks by then. I went to a baby shower yesterday and there were 2 other women pregnant due in March. We were all sitting on the same side of one table and I wanted to point out all of us on this side are pregnant. Somehow I was able to manage to keep it in, barely!
I'm trying to wait until my first appointment too.. My husband was at a bachelor party this weekend and while he was there his friend's wife called and told him she just found out she was pregnant. And another friend there had just announced that his wife is due in March. My husband has more will power than I do because I probably would've blabbed.
So we told MIL the day after we got the BFP. We went to her house and of course the topic of us trying for another came up. She had been bugging us for yrs to have another baby, she has 4 grandchildren, all boys. SO told her we were trying basically when we decided to try. He can't keep anything a secret. Anyways she was talking about how SO might be sterile or something because she is a worrier and she really wants a granddaughter. So I told my SO he could tell her. I was laughing at this point cuz I still think it was an odd discussion and we weren't trying long at all. She hugged me and cried for like 10 minutes. She's a lil desperate for a granddaughter.
My other half has already told all of his coworkers, and the owner of the company lol. Most of his friends, he really just needs to tell his dad, I dunno why he hasn't told him yet except maybe he's been annoyed with his dad. But really his dad was one of the most supportive for us when we got pregnant with our son. He also waited till like 16 weeks to tell him then, and everyone else knew by 8weeks.
I have told a few friends. I am not close with my family but plan on telling the ones I am closer with after my U/S on the 12th. The friends I have told are ones that I am around a lot and they know something's up do to my extreme exhaustion and nausea. I am a horrible liar. But I guess I will announce on social media after the 12th as well. probably with a pumpkin and a U/S picture. I love pumpkins! Halloween is my favorite holiday!

We told our parents when our beta test confirmed pregnancy. They knew we were going through treatments, so it would be weird to just not tell them if it worked or not. It was confirmed the day before we went to disney. We took a picture of DD in a big sister shirt, and sent it, while waiting to see how long it would take for either of them to realize. (It was also a long sleeved shirt, so it was kinda obvious there was something special about the shirt.)
I told my coworkers at our staff meeting when I was 7weeks. I work in a school, and I already had to tell some people due to the M/S and early appointments.
I've had 3 u/s's so far, so while it's still early, we feel comfortable telling. Most people who know us, know we were going through infertility treatments, so they aren't completely surprised either.
I'm not sure if I will make a fb announcement. As someone who went through IF, seeing those posts sometimes were very triggering. I'm torn yet.
I did see a halloween announcement that was hocus pocus themed that said "I smell a child!"

My parents helped us pay for IVF so they were aware all along of the process. My mom was even there when the embryo was transferred because DH had to work! So we called them right away when we got the BFP since it would be silly to just hide the result from them. We also called DH's parents right away because it seemed kind of mean to let my parents know and not his, and I texted a couple really close girlfriends who knew I was doing IVF with a picture of the BFP. Since then we've told a few friends in person once we saw a heartbeat, but haven't come up with a way to so a social media announcement yet. I don't want to wait too late to do it since a fair number of people know now, and I'm worried the news will spread too much. My parents have not exactly been great about keeping it secret and have told half the city .
I'm mainly obsessed with announcing to my three older boys. Waiting until closer to Second Trimester and it's killing me. Gonna buy little gift bags for them with baby items and see if they get the hint.
I also am waiting until as far along possible to tell my work. That whole thing gives me anxiety lol.
So my plan to have my son wearing a big brother shirt to announce failed because he didn’t want to wash his face or put underwear on for the picture so I just posted the ultrasound and googled “twin announcement quote” for something witty.
The Jurassic Park theme song was played on violin when we walked down the aisle for our wedding. Now I am wanting to do something like this. I am a huge Jurassic Park nerd.
I had a shirt made that says "big sister may 2018" its bright pink and looks like a young child's shirt. It's funny because my 17 yr old DD will be wearing it. I will probably post a photo of her wearing it with a shocked face since she's been an only child for so long i also like that Christmas ornament that someone else posted. I'm thinking I will announce it on social media around a Christmas and will announce with gender if we know by then. She wore the shirt to my parents and it took about a half hour before they picked up on it.
My mom and I always get coffee when we hang out, so I brought her coffee when I went to pick her up and had Starbucks write "Grandma" on it...she thankfully looked at the cup - and freaked out! We brought my dad home a cup of coffee after we shopped that said "Grandpa" so he would be in on the surprise as well!
We are going to take our parents out to dinner (all 6 of us) and tell them. We will tell our siblings after. I won't say anything on social media until atleast the second trimester.
We've already told most of the people that are close to us, but I haven't told most of my co-workers and haven't announced publicly on facebook. I'm thinking around Thanksgiving, maybe posting a picture of the girls in their Big Sister shirts and saying something boring like, we have something else to be thankful for this year. And then following it up with, and YES we're sure there's only one this time!!! However, we did just go to the pumpkin patch, and the girls wanted to pick a little one for the baby, so I thought about painting each of their names on one, and then putting a question mark with May 2018 on the baby's pumpkin, and posting that on FB instead, but still around Thanksgiving.
