Re: TTCAL Check-In Week of 10/2

  • 1 - ya'll know me by now - WTO CD1

R/R - don't really have much going on right now bad or good.  I just talked to my OBs nurse about scheduling a CD21 Prog test for a final time and yes I did request to have it done at a more accurate date.  Since last month I o'd CD19 I'd really like it taken 7dpo.  The OB wanted me to do it on day 21 but I'm being anal and OCD here and I'm going to track with OPK and FF and I told her I would do that and I could call back on the day I'm positively ovulating and schedule it then.  I don't care if people think I'm crazy at this point or not.  Yes I'll question a doctor screw you.  So I'll get a call back soon.

grab 5 things not living? - 1 violin, viola, my purse, wedding ring and mothers ring.  I had to really think about that because I would really grab 2 dogs, 2 birds, and my kid.

    2. Status? TWW but I’m def out. Just waiting on AF. The joys.
    3. R/R I loooooove this weather!!! I love October.
    4. GTKY. If you had a fire in your home and had time to grab 5 things, what would they be?
Well I’m going to say my family isn’t included because they would obviously be my priority. My camera, my phone, my photo albums and memory cards, and my small jewelry box.

  • 1. Old. I second that.

    2. WTO- cd 7. OB is referring me to an infertility specialist! I'm hoping I can get in sooner than later.

    3. Yes it's fall! I'm so happy to see the leaves changing and weather cooling down. I'm excited to celebrate our wedding anniversary this weekend. It falls on a Saturday. We're spending two nights in the alps at a resort. We even have to take a gondola to get there, and there will be fresh snow on the ground and a spa. I can NOT wait!

    4. Family first. But if we're talking items- old family heirlooms- all my pictures are backed up. I have an old family quilt, grand parents wedding rights and old letters and pictures.

@vlagrl29 you can't get what you want without asking for it! I'm glad you fight for yourself. It's been a battle with my doctor- she still says " I told you your labs would be normal" but I feel like Ive won a small battle with her finally referring me to a fertility specialist. Maybe she just wants to get me out of her hair- but really I don't care her reasons. My win.

@sprkls8506 sorry you're out this month.

  • Not New anymore

    TWW - Waiting on AF

This is my second cycle since mc and I'm curious whether or not AF will come on any sort of time-frame that is was before. Last month was five days later than usual, which wasn't SUPER off but I'm curious to see what this month has in store. OPK's said I O'd on the days that I would have normally before the mc so I'm totally lost.

GTKY - This question came to mind after talking with my FIL this weekend. He lost his house this summer and every single item he had in it. He was talking about how he was looking for a sentimental item that he'd hoped that he'd left in another place and sadly, it too was lost.
My items - My wedding ring, my sewing machine my grandmother left me, my external hard-drive for my computer which has all my digital photos on it, my cards and letters from my DH, and my parents wedding pictures (they're not married anymore).
  • OK so clearly I wasn’t thinking about this photo thing because mine are all backed up too!! I think I would still grab my albums tho!!! I am pic obsessed! We have talked about getting one of those fire proof boxes! We had friends lose everything over a year ago.

@jchpg I would be looking forward to the weekend too!!! Sounds like it will be fun!!
  • jchpg That sounds awesome! I have been trying to talk the DH into a weekend away. We never did a honeymoon and we've never taken a vacation. I think we're due.
  • 1. Introduce Yourself-Ashley, second week here!
    2. Status? WTO-CD12 I seem to ovulate late so I have 10-12 days still before I actually ovulate. LONGEST WAIT EVER. ENjoying the non FW BD though.
    3. R/R- I did a lot of cooking and canning this weekend in the cool weather that turned out great. Rant-forgot to put lemon juice in TEN JARS of tomatoes. The internets seem to say that since I am using them in soups and stews my chances of botulism are super slim (since the stew heats up). Here's hoping!
    4. GTKY. If you had a fire in your home and had time to grab 5 things, what would they be? Assuming DH was here and had his own list, and fam and 4 dogs and cat were taken care of-my moms box of photo albums (its in a picnic basket, so has a handle i can grab with one hand, so I count as 1 thing), my kindle, my kitchen aid mixer (lol) and **TW DD and My mom's ashes END TW**
  • @ELeighMay Thanks for getting this thread rolling!

@vlagrl29 You aren’t crazy. They’re the crazy ones if they just say “cd21” with no consideration that everyone’s cycle is different. Good for you for standing up for yourself on that one!

@sprkls8506 Hopefully AF will show up soon if you’re definitely out this cycle so you can get ready to give it another try.

    1. Starting my 4th month posting on this board.
    2. WTO. CD3
    3. R/R. E-mailed my OBGYN last night to let her know that AF arrived and asking to schedule HSG with radiology. They couldn’t get me in on CD10 last month, so hopefully they can this cycle. In the meantime DH encouraged me to go ahead and schedule an RE appointment. Called and the first available is on 11/14, which is the 1 year anniversary of my MC. So, of course, I’m taking that as a sign.
    4. If all living things are safe, I’m grabbing: my laptop (my cellphone is backed up on it), photo boxes, wedding rings, and the framed art DH and I picked up as souvenirs in Italy and England.

@jchpg - how long have you been TTC total?  My OB would already refer us to an RE if needed BUT I'm being a weirdo and want to really try better timing for 3 more cycles.  I'm a planner and will ask for referral in November and get a consultation for the process and cost.  In case it takes a couple months to get in we will be ready for it shortly after first of year.  DH secretly hopes we don't need one cause he sees my anxiety going thru the roof if we need medical intervention.

also I wanted to enjoy this good mental state I'm in one last time before RE status comes.  We are super busy this time of year and I really want to enjoy it.  After the holidays is when it slows down for us so that would be a better time to see an RE.

@leahcimmichael - last time it was done I was with my old OB and she did 7dpo so I want to compare accurate numbers.

  • 1. Not really new anymore, been around since beginning of August

    2. Status? I guess WTO again? See rant below...

    3. R/R - Rant... so I thought that I O’d almost 2 weeks ago, and FF had given me CH and everything, but then my temps were literally all over the place the last week and a half, so it took them away and now I’m back to not knowing what’s going on. Mentally, I’m just having a hard time today because I finally thought I was getting back to normal and that I had a chance, but now I’m back in limbo trying to figure things out. On CD 24 now, and I just have no clue if I could still O late, or if this cycle is just a complete failure.

On a positive note, I had a great weekend because my mom and sister were visiting, and we had a lot of fun together. It was great to see them, but it makes going back to work on Monday morning that much harder.

    4. GTKY. If you had a fire in your home and had time to grab 5 things, what would they be?  This is a tough one... assuming living things are already safe, I’d grab my wedding/engagement ring, external hard drive with all our pictures on it, a small box I have with mementos from my relationship with DH, DS’s favorite stuffed toy, and a picture frame that DH built me after my dad died that has his picture in it.

@vlagrl29 glad you’re pushing to get the testing done at the right time!

@sprkls8506 I love this weather too! Fall is the best!!

@jchpg sounds like you’ll have a great weekend. Enjoy your special time!

@ELeighMay it sounds like we’re on similar timeframes, and I wonder the same thing about my cycle. I’m on my second cycle after my loss, and I don’t know what to expect anymore.

@SmashJam yeah, I feel like the waiting for O (especially if you O late) is worse than the TWW. It always feels like it’s taking forever!

@leahcimmichael hopefully the RE will be able to help, and that your ob will be able to get you in on CD10 this time.
  • @vlagrl29 we have been TTC for 14 months. When I first meet with my OB we discussed trying for 9 months before taking about any testing. I'm not THAT old-but at 34 plus at the time I didn't want to delay. I also have ulcerative colitis and we discussed how this would affect things. After 3 months we got PG with our loss, and after the loss she said " well now we know you can get pg" and while she's right- it's still been 11 months of TTC total- so I think it's time to at least check the basics whatever that will be. We've been very good with tracking and timing- so it's not like we've been just seeing if it will happen. Of course I'm hoping I just get my BFP this month and then the specialist is just not needed..... Though I think there is a lot that can be checked and tried before any medical intervention... because like you I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet- or ever will be.

@ELeighMay just plan something! DH tried to talk me out of it to save money and I just said screw it and booked the trip!

@SmashJam I'm glad you can enjoy some low pressure BD!

@leahcimmichael  sorry your EDD is coming up. I hope your taking the RE appointment as a good sign! I would!

  • @jchpg - we've been trying for 14 months as well with a loss 6 months in.  It's good to get everything check even if it comes back all normal.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • pumpkinpancake I was hoping I'd be lucky enough for my body to just figure itself out and not have to be stupid for several months following the loss, but we'll see. I know there's no normal with this so I'm trying to be patient, but it's screwing with my end game. I'm hoping at least if the OPK is giving me that solid smile it means that I'm actually Oing.

jchpg I really should. What I SHOULD do is start planning a trip and have that be his Christmas gift. The guy seriously needs nothing anyway. He's a shop-when-he-needs it kind.
  • @vlagrl29 Taking your healthcare into your own hands is so important. AND at the end of the day you’re the one that uses the results and has to pay for the bill!

@sprkls8506 Sorry you’re out. Agree on the weather!

    @jchpg Sounds wonderful! Happy anniversary!

@eleighmay Sorry to hear about that. I can’t imagine losing so much.

@smashjam Canning sounds like so much fun. I don’t trust myself though!

@leahcimmichael Hope you can get in for HSG!

@pumpkinpancake Sorry things are not back to normal. Hopefully it’s just a late O for you.

    AFM:

    1.      Not new

    2.      Just had the septate surgery done last week. OB appt for follow-up in 2 weeks so I can understand the plan for next cycle. Can’t wait for November to be off the bench.

    3.      So sad for those in Vegas. One of my friends was there, she is thankfully OK.

    4.      Other than living things: pictures, all the cards DH has given me over the years, safe, grandma’s rings, and our family name sign

  • @ELeighMay do it! That's why we are doing trips- we already have any gifts we'd want- and were trying to not have too much "stuff" so traveling wins for all gifts.
  • msstephanielynn YAY for getting off the bench in Nov. Hopefully you have all good news from your procedure and you can move forward soon.

jchpg That's just it. How much stuff do we really need? I just want my time with him.
  • @vlagrl29 Happy Anniversary!!! Lots of October anniversaries here. Ours is 10/10/14.

    1. So not new it ain't even funny.
    2. TWW.
    3. R/R: Normally we go to New Orleans for our anniversary week to see my ILs, waiting until Halloween week this year. Can't wait! Working the next two weekends out of town, then a weekend for Depeche Mode in Seattle, and then we're off! DH has been working all weekends too and some double shifts...he texted me the other day "I feel like I haven't seen you in a week." I sent back, "DM and NOLA! Eyes on the prize, darling!" Ha ha.
    4. Oh my GOD this is hard. Assuming DH and the cat are hunky dory: my laptop (backed up photos), my box of Africa stuff and photos (not backed up), my grandmother's high school ring, my great-grandparent's wedding ring, and probably the little box of all the dimes I found all over the house the week after my MC. They were everywhere, in my shoes and whatnot.
    Me: 39 DH: 39

  • 1. Introduce Yourself old old old

    2. Status? WTO.  IUI scheduled for Thursday

    3. R/R good weekend zoo Saturday went to park Sunday then memorial walk for my losses then friends for dinner

    4. GTKY. If you had a fire in your home and had time to grab 5 things, what would they be? Assuming DH, DS and pets are safe I would take pics of my grandparents and dad they are all deceased and can't be replaced.  I would take purse and phone, box of cards from family and DS keepsake box

    Status?
CD 2. WTO. I was thinking I would sit this cycle out because I don't know what my new RE will suggest when I see him, but I just looked at the calendar and I start a new cycle a few days after my appointment with him (well, hopefully not but realistically....) so I think I'll give it the old college try this month.
    R/R: I don't know - I'm not pregnant and it's CD2?
GTKY: Other than humans: my cat, my dog, my bin of old photo albums and external hard drives with digitals, and my jewelry box.

  • 1. Still here
    2. TWW, Appt with my OBGYN on Wednesday to see what our next steps are. DH is 41 and I'm only 40 for 6 more days... ugh
    3. There's a big group of us heading back to this little island getaway that DH and I went to in September. There will be 10 of us there for my bday and Thanksgiving (I'm up above the border so our Thanksgiving falls this Sunday, on my bday). The weather is supposed to be nice and warm so I'm really looking forward to it. I feel like I may need to change my username though...
    4. Hmm, I've always thought I'd like to remember to grab my car keys. I figure once we get outside with my cats (they are obviously the first thing I would grab) but then where do they go? They would be so terrified so I'd hopefully grab my car keys and shove them in my car for now. But after that, hmm, I guess my older photo albums (that aren't backed up), the blanket my grandmother knit for me and gave to me the last time she saw me, my old blackberry that really has no sentimental value except for the fact that it has a bunch of old pics on it that I can't seem to figure out how to get off of it, and the necklace my sister gave me after my first loss, although I would likely be wearing it anyway as I often am. And I live in a major fixer upper so as for the rest of it, let it burn baby! ;)

@jchpg - your trip sounds amazing!!!

@ELeighMay - take the trip!! Always take the trip!
  • @sprkls8506 i love October too! The beginning of fall is my favorite!

@msstephanielynn being benched is the worst! Glad it's almost over for ya!

@ELeighMay A trip sounds like a great idea! I might have to steal that idea.

    AFM
    1. Second week here. Been ttc since January.
    2. 2ww cd 28 (out of 30 usually).
    3. I'm normally testing before this point in my cycle but I'm just not mentally prepared to see a bfn... So just waiting this cycle out I think.
    4. GTKY I'd grab my safe of important documents, my keys that are conveniently attached to my wallet (so that counts as one!), my back up drive that has all my pictures, my kids memory books/photo albums, annnnnd probably my first bible which is a family heirloom.
  • @40momma lol... your “let it burn” GTKY response reminded me of this meme  :D

  • @40momma I'm so sick of my fixer upper I'd probably grab marshmallows for the event.
  • 1. Introduce Yourself
nor very new, 3rd month of ttcal
    2. Status?
I think tww, I decided not to temp after I got all stressed out when my temp went up and the us said i haven't ovulated yet. I just finished lh surge as of today, so i think that's it.
    3. R/R
Its such a beautiful day today in san fran that I cannot think of any rants.
I am looking forward going to new england in 2 weeks for my friends wedding, it will be exactly the day when my af is due, so if it doesn't show up then double celebration and if it does at least I can get drunk for free :)
    4. GTKY. If you had a fire in your home and had time to grab 5 things, what would they be?
I am glad that I am not the only one who thought about grabbing kitchenaid stand up mixer (@smashjam) , I love mine! I would consider evacuating my tomatoe plant from a porch. I sleep shower and clean with my engagement/ wedding rings on so that would be easy to save. However the first thing I would  grab is my passport and immigration documents, you guys cannot even imagine what a nightmare is to get them at first place.

  • hahah @ELeighMay - pass the graham crackers and chocolate!
  • @aga31 - DH and I just bought tickets to San Fran for a weekend getaway in a few weeks, we've never been
  • So this may be a really stupid question, but is my bbt reading supposed to match what my temp reading would be on a normal forehead/ear thermometer (just with higher accuracy)?
  • @pumpkinpancake - yeah it close but more accurate because the temp shift can be a very small one so that's why there is an extra digit.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @pumpkinpancake my bbt prior to O is around 97.3 with my forehead scanner it would read around 98.6   After O my bbt gets to 98. Something.  I haven't used scanner on O day or after to know what it reads post O. So for me I think they are about a degree off
  • @pumpkinpancake my bbt and forehead scanner "normal" temp can be diff anywhere from 1-2 degrees pre O. I read that shifts can be as small as three tenths but mine is usually an entire degree or more, closer to my "normal" temp after O. I didn't think there were supposed to be close but everyone's "normal" temp during the day is a little different, so for some people it might be after O.
  • @pumpkinpancake @Mack2342 @vlagrl29  Do you know - is temping more accurate than the OPKs?

  • @msstephanielynn my understanding is that temping really only lets you know that you ovulated it will not help you determine when you will ovulate it only confirms that you ovulated once temp increases.  So OPKs are better for helping you determine th day of ovulation
  • Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess I was just trying to figure out if there’s something wrong with my bbt that would be making my temps inaccurate. I tested it out yesterday by taking my bbt at the same time as my forehead temp, and the bbt was like 96.6 while the forehead was 98.3. I also compared it to and old bbt I have that I don’t use anymore, and that one read like 97.3 or something (I don’t remember exactly), so I’m not sure if the temps are even reliable at this point. Ugh.
  • aga31 What a great perspective on AF during your trip. Hopefully it'll be on the double celebration end. I also cannot imagine trying to deal with anything relating to immigration papers right now, I'd grab those too.
  • @pumpkinpancake I always worry about my BBT being “off” somehow too. To get a little sciencey about it, measurement tools should have 2 features: validity (accuracy) and reliability (it reads the same information the same way).
For example: if I had a scale that was 5 lbs off the weight it displays wouldn’t be valid. But if it added 5lbs to everyone’s true weight every time they got on the scale, it would still be reliable.
With BBT the validity isn’t as important as the reliability. So if your thermometer is always 1 degree off it doesn’t matter as long as it is consistently so.
  • @pumpkinpancake I’ve also read that vaginal temping can be more consistent for those of us that have rocky charts. I haven’t tried it yet cause it seems like a hassle, but I probably should...
  • Hmmm, may need to add temping to my tool kit next month  B)
  • @msstephanielynn I’ve never used OPKs so I’m not 100%, but I think like @Mack2342 said, OPKs are useful to predict ovulation so that you can time BD appropriately, while temping is only good to confirm if and when ovulation took place. So in essence, they tell two sides of the story and combine to give you the full picture.

@leahcimmichael yeah, that’s why I know I can’t switch thermometers mid cycle, but of course my BSC is all “well, what if my bbt broke mid cycle and it was accurate in the beginning but not now?”  why do I do this to myself??
  • I have a BBT and have been staring at it for months in a debate on whether or not to start. I thought about dusting it off to see how it goes. As for actual keeping track of your info, is FF the best method? I cannot do it old style writing it down and figuring it out, so throw an app at me I can use. What's your favorite? And, do you temp immediately after opening your eyes, or at a certain time of day everyday?
  • 2.  Somewhere in the TWW

    3. My niece's mom had her baby shower on Sunday. I just couldn't bring myself to go. It was hard enough just buying a gift. So I sat my pathetic butt at home and cried all morning instead. She's since posted some annoying vague posts about being disappointed even though the day was good. I know she's talking about me and I am furious! Like there is any way my day was better than hers. If she wants to switch places and feel the pain that I feel she can go right ahead. This is her third baby! She has no fing clue.

Then my MIL invited two of her friend's daughters to our Christmas cookie day party that we have every year. They are both shallow and annoying and seem to get everything in life without any struggle. The one has 2 kids and the other is going to start TTC in October on her honeymoon. So now they both plan to get KU so they can be pregnant together. Barf!! I just can't handle the party if they are both there and KU. I told my MIL I likely will not be coming. It's a very small intimate party so there is no way I can avoid them. Rant over.

    4.  If we are talking non-living things I would have to pick some old photo albums (that are not backed up), my grandmas wedding ring, my phone (only for practical reasons like calling insurance company, etc.), my external hard drive, and my planner because my whole life is in that thing!

Sorry im a bit late to the game. The last week or so has been insane at work and at home. I'm going into a meeting now but will try to comment later. Thanks for listening to my pity party.
